Hillary saying all the right things

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
DENVER, Colo. -- Hillary Clinton said all the right things at a breakfast meeting of the New York delegation here.

She unequivocally said she is behind Barack Obama and urged her home-state delegation to wholeheartedly do the same.

She also made it a point to respond to the Republican National Committee using her own primary words against her in TV ads.

"Let me state what I think about those ads... I'm Hillary Clinton and I do not approve that message," she said to big applause and a standing ovation at her home-state's delegation breakfast meeting.

"Make no mistake. We are united. We are united for change. Of course, we are Democrats, so it may take -- a while. We're not the fall-in line party. We are diverse...many voices, but make no mistake we are united."

She encouraged supporters to phone bank for Obama and do everything they can to make him "the next president of the United States."

She said she had a "clear purpose -- to come out of here ready to elect Barack Obama president of the United States."

She also said her supporters -- many of whom in attendance waved signs that read, "Hillary Made History" -- had "every reason to elect Barack." She then ticked off reasons after reason on the issues.

"We have so much work to do," she said. None of that will happen if John McCain is in the White House. We cannot afford for more years of George W. Bush's policies. And make no mistake, that's what you'll get with John McCain."

At a news conference after the event, when pressed if there was the potential to upstage Obama this week, she said, “There is no doubt in anyone's mind that this is Barack Obama's convention, as it should be. We are trying to bring everyone together with the same level of commitment that I feel.”

Asked what more she could do to help assure that Clinton voters would coalesce behind Obama, she said, “I don't know. …  I'm doing everything I possibly can do… I think we have made a strong case.”

Pressed again on whether she was giving a full-hearted endorsement, and whether her supporters would be, she said, “It would have been the same way if Barack Obama had won, and we'd be fighting for the unity of our party.”

New York City Councilman John Liu, who is a Clinton pledged delegate defended Clinton and said those of her supporters who were holding out would eventually come around.

"For months, she's been dogged by questions of whether she's doing enough," Liu said. "What more can she possibly say? She's made it clear."

Clinton has said she will cast her vote on first ballot for Obama, and Liu said he will do that as well.

"We don't have top-down rule in this party," Liu said, adding that even though suggestions are made, not everyone seamlessly falls in line. Liu added that there were "two superstars" in the primary, but "Not we have one superstar nominee. ... People will realize that this election is a choice between Bush, part two or Barack Obama. There is no question in my mind, they will be for Barack Obama."

Clinton's case for Obama to Democrats centers on exactly that premise.

“Electing John McCain would be a mistake for our country,” she said. “Anyone who voted for me has so much more in common with Barack Obama.”

Asked if she wants to run again for president, as implied by Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, she said, "I never said that."

She called losing to Obama "disappointing" and noted that she is "moved" when supporters show their "love" for her, to her, but she insists she's committed to doing everything she can to help Obama become president.

"I am working as hard as I can to elect Barack Obama," she said, adding that it would be one of the "worst outcomes I can personally imagine" if John McCain and the Republicans win the presidency again.

On the RNC ads, she said, "I said strongly I don't approve that message… my name or my words being used.” But “there's nothing I can do about it except speak out against it."

No one can call themselves a Clinton supporter and not support the party the same way she does.  If you're voting McCain your're voting against Hillary

Too Little - Too Late  Hillary...

Thank you Hillary, even though I am a staunch Obama supporter, I really appreciate your effort to bring the party back together after the lies the GOP are spreading!
Hillary has a lot of work to do right here in Denver.

Perhaps the winning margin in a close race is either sitting it out or voting for the Satanic Hosts because these poor suckers believed Hillary's and Mark Penn's vitriolic, ruthless, gutless, desperate, attacks on everything and everyone Obama.

Now like the women of 1980s ABC, who wanted anyone but Carter and got Reagan, Iran-Contra, and a Supreme Court from hell.

Hillary... you have a lot of work to do... you need to beg forgiveness...

On that day when Hades freezes over, I expect to hear your full apology to the American people and the world.

(Gee, Hil, you can still be McCain's VP!  Go for it!)

What a great setup the repugnant ones gave Hillary so she could use that wonderfully witty line today that she does not approve of them twisting her words for their nefarious ends.  While I was very miffed at Hillary and her kitchen sink campaign I am now very impressed with how she's come around and shown she has tremendous class to support Obama as well as she has over the past two months.  Time now for those of her supporters who claim to support the true enemy of the middle class, "Elitist" McCain, to show that they have the same class as she does by supporting Obama/Biden.

Hillary knows that "Male Chauvinist Pig" McCain will only set back women's rights and will ensure that women never get equal pay for equal work.

Only Obama/Biden will protect and support women's rights!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
Where's Bill and his support?  Or did he forget he's a democrat?  Or does he really not care what happens to this country if McCain gets in for the next 4 years?  The middle class cannot survive another 4 years!!
Obama needs to go hard and deep about McCains character!

He needs a new add now about how McCain degrades and disrespects women.

1. Calling his wife the "C" word!

2. Wanting his wife to go topless at the Buffalo Chip Contest!

3. How women should only speak if spoken to!

4. How women do not deserve the right to choose!

5. Laughing when someone in New Hampshire ask McWife-beater how do we beet the B%#&h! The questioner was referring to Hillary Clinton

6. How McNo-women allowed; will not let Cindy speak at the Retughlican Convention, you know the meeting of all the top Crime Family’s in United States in Minnesota next week!

MCAIN WILL NOT LET CINDY MCCAIN SPEAK AT THE CRIME FAMILY CONVENTION NEXT WEEK!

It'll be interesting to see if the traditional media is so interested in party unity at the GOP convention next week, or in the fact that McCain has not led Obama once in the polls yet, even though he was a POW !
hilary, thank you for stepping up, even though I am a die hard Obama supporter, you made my day.
Words are the greatest power in the world, when they are true, and spoken from the heart with conviction. Hillary, and Barack are gifted...convincing. I think we are going to be unified.

I feel better just reading Senator Clinton's comments.
"Hillary Saying All The Right Things"

To get her elected in 2012.

Go Hillary!!!

Hillary/2012
So Hillary flip-flopped on her view of O-bummer.  Does that make her a BIG FAT LIAR???
you can do something about it. Call out the hyprocricy of the republican party. Say that they are not align with the concerns of women. They did not like you and said terrible names about you. Now they are using you to garner votes. It is wrong and the clear message is that people who support me and vote McCain were not my supporters. period. exclamation point.
God  that is so hard to hear her have to say !
She may be broken and lost right now, but we pray that she gets back some shred of her before Obama and the DNC ripped her and our hearts out, only laugh in our faces as we watched.

Karma and Justice will work hand in hand this time..         NOV 4th wink wink
Good for you Senator Clinton...good for you.
So last night I was reading some hilarious post on PUMAPAC due to Hillary letting her delegates go...I could not believe my eyes but...one of the bloggers gave Darragh Murphy's cell number away!

Please call: 978-505-3933 and let her know how you feel about PUMA!

This is NO JOKE...CALL IT AND YOU WILL SEE!!!

Obama/Biden '08
Barack has obviously said that either Hillary says the right things at the convention, or else he doesn't pay off her debt.

I always thought of Hillary as being a liberated woman. Guess not. Here's yet another man pulling her strings.
United. Right. Okay. What ever you say Hillary.
Now will people STOP asking if she has her own agenda at the convention.  Hillary is supporting our canidate.  She can't make herself more clear.

The people keeping this alive are the reporters and pundits who won't take her as her word.

Please respect her enough to believe her when she says she would rather have Obama as president over McCain.
Is this the Democratic Convention, or Fantasy Island? Place hasn't even been gaveled to order, and the lies are flowing like water from the mountains in the spring time.
Thank you Sen. Clinton.  I have allways been an Obama supporter but there was a time when I had to think about voting for Mrs Clinton and I assure you
I would have been at the polls just as early to vote for Sen. Clinton as I will be when I vote for Sen. Obama. I personeley appreciate every thing Sen. Clinton does for Sen. Obama.  As a country we can no longer afford the GOP, I am 62 years old and dont recognize my own country. Democrats unite.

old white woman in s.c.
A woman voting for McCain is like a cow voting for a steakhouse. No way will it happen.
Well, there you go puma and all the other "I'm for Hillary or McCain people."
She's voting for Senator Obama and has asked you to do the same.  And, asked you to man phone banks etc.
Look, it was tough to lose, and anyone who really knows me knows I hate to lose.  And at the same time, I give major kudos to Senator Clinton because she is telling us that while she's disappointed to lose, she also knows we all would be bigger losers if Senator McCain is somehow elected.
Let's move forward and get on the train to get this country out of the ditch that President Bush, and McCain by voting with Bush 95% and 100% from 2006 and 2007 respectively, have put us in. McCain says just keep doing the same thing, Obama says let's change course.
Former Texsas Governor Ann Richards is giving republican ideology a kick in the teeth, as she gives her passionate speech. Bravo!

ps., She's a gorgeous older woman. Her eyes just sparkle.

///I'm Hillary Clinton and I do not approve that message," she said to big applause and a standing ovation at her home-state's delegation breakfast meeting.///

Hillary doesn't even believe the own words she speaks. Why should anyone else?
What state is Hillary from now in days? Other then the state of denial.
McCain gets heckled by workers... devalues their hard work like a TRUE ELITIST WOULD! I'm glad the men in the crowd stood up for themseleves

“Electing John McCain would be a mistake for our country,” she said. “Anyone who voted for me has so much more in common with Barack Obama.”

What part of this you PUMAs don't understand.  I voted for Hillary in the primaries, but today is a different day. PUMAs, turn the page for change. Maybe the the black man on the the page is not the color you want to see.......Shame on you if it is the latter.
Cindy Lou,

Thanks for the suggestion. Just turned on C-span2. You're right, I don't want the pundits to sully MY Convention!
“Anyone who voted for me has so much more in common with Barack Obama.”

******

Bobbi?  You out there?
Sheesh! I can't wait till she and ol' Billy Boy are done with the Clinton Side (Freak) Show! They just need to go away ~ and stay there!
I Love Hillary!!!  She'll always have my vote.

From a 38 yo black NYer!!!
Hillary needs to "DO THE RIGHT THING".
"On the RNC ads, she said, "I said strongly I don't approve that message… my name or my words being used.” But “there's nothing I can do about it except speak out against it."

It's a real bummer to a liberal when their words are used, in context, against them.
Hey Obama folks.......

I've read so many of your blogs about Clinton that you have convinced me that she is a liar and will say anything to get her way.  I mean, that's what you have been pounding all these months isn't it?  And let's not forget that she and Bill are racists!  How can you take the word of a racist?
Why should she apologize for her own words when she was correct?
Why McCain will lose this election:

As most recall the McCain who ran in the 2000 Repubican primary was quite a different McCain then the one running for President in 2008. In 2000 McCain was a maverick and enjoyed the support of many who followed his desire to be "for something" rather than "against something". The McCain of 2000 was for change, major change. Even at the expense of having his own party disown him as a rebel with a cause.

But the Mccain of 2008 is quite differnt. Rather than being for something Mccain is now running on  the basis of being against something. Rather than jumping on the bandwagon for change even at the expense of losing part of his base McCain is now running a campaign against change, and against an opponent who like the McCain of 2000 called for a new type of politics. But rather than remain committed to this idea McCain is now relying on that which he himself denounced in 2000, the old establishment and the same old nit-picking Washington politics to win this election.

McCain will lose this eletion because this candidate is no longer John McCain, but rather a clone, a nemises of the real John McCain, the dark side. The side that has succumbed to the forces of darkness. Voters want light, not darkness. And when looking at the McCain of 2008 people see night instead of day. And for those with some hope that McCain is yet who he was, there is a shroud of grey where there once was a bit of hope, a bit of sunlight.
Well, I have a suggestion for Hillary as to what else she can do...do a TV ad for Obama, appealing directly to your hold out supporters, and those who say they are voting McCain, and tell them it makes zero sense to vote for someone [McCain] who's the complete oppisite of her on the issues, over someone [Obama] who is almost identical as she is on the issues. And appeal to the feminists by explaining McCain will get the chance to finally tip the Supreme Court 5-4 against Roe v Wade, that he's against abortion even to save the life of the mother, and he is against equal pay for equal work.  And if Hillary supporters still vote for McCain, then they are dumb, and racist!
What does it say about Hillary's leadership abilities if she cannot even get her own supporters to follow her lead?  Either they don't respect her views and urgings to get behind Obama, or they think she is lying and really doesn't mean what she says--either way, not a great statement about Hillary or her supporters.  I appeal to all Clinton supporters:  Do not put spite and revenge ahead of this country's best interest.  That will only allow John McCain and the Republican policies to continue their damage for four more years.  We cannot afford four more years of that!
I thank you for this Mrs. Clinton. I know there is only so much one can do to get their supporters to do the same, and you have done your best.
I can't help it -- but she just doesn't sound like she means it.  She's saying the right things, but what I'm looking for is a barn-burning on-the-spot eviscerating of John McCain's usage of her in his attack ads.

Just step up and blast him, Hillary!  Make it absolutely clear!  This mealy-mouthed support is just rubbish, especially against an advert that shows an angry, dismissive Clinton.  Turn it on him!  You know McCain is using you, take him out for it!
This is a thoughtful situation. I like HRC's quip, "I am Hillary Clinton and I do not approve this message." I think a 15-second commercial in support of Obama would be very helpful as a counter ad I also think that what she says in her speech tomorrow is VERY IMPORANT.
The one thing I do not understand, is How come when the primary was first over more of HRC voters came to Obama, but now they seem to be doubling back to McCain or Undecided (another way of saying unhappy with the choices or don't want to discuss it with the pollster)
Hillary Clinton...Secretary of State?
Hillary is doing everything she can to be a good party leader and help get a Democrat elected. She's a good case study in moving forward from defeat.

However, I wish she'd listened to advice during the campaign and not attacked a fellow Democrat in such a Rove-like way; now Rove's minion (otherwise known as Steve Schmidt) is using her words in Republican attack ads. Democratic leaders and pundits predicted Hillary's attacks would be used against Obama, and they urged her to reign it in. She wouldn't. Now she's got a mess to undo.

I only hope that Obama can prove he's "skinny, but tough" like he said on the campaign trail. He's got to fight like he's from the ghettos of Chicago, not the beaches of Hawaii.

Sigh.
Just how many brain dead people are speaking tonight? I guess these are Democrats, so it will be all of them.
I am trying to understand the quote you attribute to Hillary Clinton, "if Barack Obama had won" she would have supported his candidacy wholeheartedly. Did he lose? This seems to be a not-so-subtle attempt to undermine the legitimacy of Obama's candidacy. When will the sniping end? Enough already!!
But you get the feeling hearing these plastic quotes that something is missing. Not all of her supporters are angry enough to keep up their distractions without a firm indications from Hillary of whether to back Obama. She needs to do more.

http://www.political-buzz.com/
Hillary should tell her supporters that keep saying, "I hope Obama loses so Hillary can run '12" that she will not......under ANY circumstance...run in '12.

I can't believe Dems would vote for McCain out of spite.
