Hillary saying all the right things

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
DENVER, Colo. -- Hillary Clinton said all the right things at a breakfast meeting of the New York delegation here.

She unequivocally said she is behind Barack Obama and urged her home-state delegation to wholeheartedly do the same.

She also made it a point to respond to the Republican National Committee using her own primary words against her in TV ads.

"Let me state what I think about those ads... I'm Hillary Clinton and I do not approve that message," she said to big applause and a standing ovation at her home-state's delegation breakfast meeting.

"Make no mistake. We are united. We are united for change. Of course, we are Democrats, so it may take -- a while. We're not the fall-in line party. We are diverse...many voices, but make no mistake we are united."

She encouraged supporters to phone bank for Obama and do everything they can to make him "the next president of the United States."

She said she had a "clear purpose -- to come out of here ready to elect Barack Obama president of the United States."

She also said her supporters -- many of whom in attendance waved signs that read, "Hillary Made History" -- had "every reason to elect Barack." She then ticked off reasons after reason on the issues.

"We have so much work to do," she said. None of that will happen if John McCain is in the White House. We cannot afford for more years of George W. Bush's policies. And make no mistake, that's what you'll get with John McCain."

At a news conference after the event, when pressed if there was the potential to upstage Obama this week, she said, “There is no doubt in anyone's mind that this is Barack Obama's convention, as it should be. We are trying to bring everyone together with the same level of commitment that I feel.”

Asked what more she could do to help assure that Clinton voters would coalesce behind Obama, she said, “I don't know. …  I'm doing everything I possibly can do… I think we have made a strong case.”

Pressed again on whether she was giving a full-hearted endorsement, and whether her supporters would be, she said, “It would have been the same way if Barack Obama had won, and we'd be fighting for the unity of our party.”

New York City Councilman John Liu, who is a Clinton pledged delegate defended Clinton and said those of her supporters who were holding out would eventually come around.

"For months, she's been dogged by questions of whether she's doing enough," Liu said. "What more can she possibly say? She's made it clear."

Clinton has said she will cast her vote on first ballot for Obama, and Liu said he will do that as well.

"We don't have top-down rule in this party," Liu said, adding that even though suggestions are made, not everyone seamlessly falls in line. Liu added that there were "two superstars" in the primary, but "Not we have one superstar nominee. ... People will realize that this election is a choice between Bush, part two or Barack Obama. There is no question in my mind, they will be for Barack Obama."

Clinton's case for Obama to Democrats centers on exactly that premise.

“Electing John McCain would be a mistake for our country,” she said. “Anyone who voted for me has so much more in common with Barack Obama.”

Asked if she wants to run again for president, as implied by Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, she said, "I never said that."

She called losing to Obama "disappointing" and noted that she is "moved" when supporters show their "love" for her, to her, but she insists she's committed to doing everything she can to help Obama become president.

"I am working as hard as I can to elect Barack Obama," she said, adding that it would be one of the "worst outcomes I can personally imagine" if John McCain and the Republicans win the presidency again.

On the RNC ads, she said, "I said strongly I don't approve that message… my name or my words being used.” But “there's nothing I can do about it except speak out against it."

POOR BILL CLINTON .... HE WANTS TO GET HIS EGO BACK.

Poor Bill Clinton was injured by the Democratic presidential campaign.

Poor Bill Clinton ... CRY FOR BILL CLINTON, AMERICA.  His ego is crushed.

Poor Bill Clinton says that his 'race-baiting' comments were "misunderstood."

Poor Bill Clinton is being FORCED TO EAT CROW AT THE DNC.  ... Obama is no Fairytale !

Good For Hillary and the Dems even MSNBC cannot mess it up with all the negative coverage.

Several MSNBC made the comment, "What are you doing to Humanize Obama?

That's news to us since we are certain that SENATOR OBAMA IS HUMAN

THESE ARE TALKING POINTS FROM THE REPUBLICAN PLAY BOOK

MSNBC CONTINUALLY ALL DAY LONG ALL LAST NIGHT KEEPS TRYING TO CAUSE A RIFT AT THE DEMS CONVENTION;  HERE'S THE REAL STORY A STATEMENT ISSUED BY SEN. OBAMA AND SEN. CLINTON

Obama strategist David Axelrod and Clinton senior adviser Maggie Williams, issued a joint statement.

"We understand that some in the news media are more interested in reporting the rumor of controversy than the fact of unity. The fact is that our teams are working closely to ensure a successful convention and will continue to do so. Senator and President Clinton fully support the Obama/Biden ticket and look forward to addressing the convention and the nation on the urgency of victory this Fall. Anyone saying anything else doesn't know what they're talking about. Period."

THE MEDIAS WOULD RATHER GIVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FODDER THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STRUGGLES WE ARE HAVING HIGH GAS, LOSS OF HOMES, JOBS, PENSION, INSURANCE

THE MEDIA WOULD RATHER PRESENT GAMES RATHER THAN ADDRESS THE ISSUES WITH BOTH CANDIDATES.

THE MEDIA WOULD RATHER AMERICANS CHOSE A PRESDIENT BASED ON THEIR REPORTING OF ATTACKS, GAMES AND NEGATIVE ADS

VS. CHOOSING A PRESIDENT BASED ON THE FACTS HOLD BOTH CANDIDATES TO THE ISSUES AND NOTHING BUT THE ISSUES.

THE MEDIA DOES NOT HAVE THE COURAGE TO DO THAT, IT DOESN'T GIVE RATINGS.  BUT IT DOES AND WOULD INCREASE THE RATINGS IF THEY GAVE US THE KIND OF JOURNALISM WE EXPECT RATHER THAN TABLOID JOURNALISM
I am not without admiration for Hillary Clinton, but she damn well better work hard to elect Obama. She must be accountable for the damage she has left in her wake. It is her mess to clean up on behalf of her Party. This, in my mind, will be the true test of her mettle and her influence.
All the Obahhma lovers that come to this site will say something wrong/mean about her even though she is doing all the right things.
I think that as much as she is disappointed that she's not the nominee, she will be somehow more if McCain is elected. She'll be able to do much more in the administration or in the Senate if Barack is elected.

People should get over their anger and start thinking realistically. Hopefully, after they really talk about McCain's record as a POW, people will have a better understanding of the person. Apparently, he was "a drunk screw up pilot, bottom of his class, lost multiple planes and was most likely responsible to getting himself shot down". Although I respect what he endured as a POW, as Clark said, it does not automatically qualify him to be POTUS.

Peace out..
Great... more Clinton chatter...

Clinton needs to come out hard and strong against McCain.

Let's beat this guy!

And Rendell,  go screw!

Third attempt to get this response to the FirstThought posted:

"With so many of Hillary Clinton’s most ardent supporters in Denver, is the political press corps here in danger of over-hyping Obama’s problem with Hillary backers?"
---------------------------------------------------

Last night on CNN, Anderson Cooper was hyperventillating over how big a problem Obama was having with Clinton voters because CNN's most recent poll showed Obama's support decreasing. Cooper didn't mention that the graphic for the poll showed that the "drop" in support was within the huge +/8% margin of error for the poll. And when David Gergen pointed out that the poll was taken over a weekend when lots of younger voters, who  favor Obama by large margins, were out out on the town, that voting group was undersampled. Cooper just got a blank look on his face and when right on talking about how big a problem Obama has with Clinton voters. He wasted at least a half an hour blathering about this.
Saw Hillary at the New York Delegation breakfast. She doesn't look tired anymore. She looks absolutely gorgeous again. So glad to see it. Go Hillary!

Great Job Hillary!!!!!

Hillary for Supreme Court!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so glad to see her coming out strongly for barak and I hope and expect that despite hard feeling and earlier rhetoric that Bill will do the same. I don't quite get why there are still such active hard feelings on her supporters side, but maybe if the table was turned I would feel the same. I remember thinking back when it was close that maybe I would just have to stay at home. But I'm sure by now after seeing Jonh McGoofy I would vote for almost any democrat they could put on the docket before casting for him. He jsut flat out scares me. Our future with him would be grave. I feel that and know that in the strongest way possible. I still think Hillory can be a strong advocate for the party andthe people no matter what she chooses or is chosen to do next. I'm pretty sure after the battering that htey gave each other that a shared ticket couldn't have worked and I don't believe she would have wanted to be number two anyway. She'll have a great shot at it in eight years and who knows what our world will look like by then. But she has madethings possible for women that weren't so before her and for that we should all be greatful
The Republicans ruined our country.  They should be ashamed of themselves.  The Republicans should not be allowed to vote until they get it, and apologize for it.
This is a good start for Clinton after her primary loss.  She needs to deliver a great speech.  She also needs to go up to each of these groups that will only support her and tell them to vote for Obama.  That would satify me.  Bill Clinton should be doing the same.
I just have nothing good to say about her...you PUMA folks...to you I can only say that I hope you support the democratic ticket and therefore the nation's best interests.  As many of you don't like Senator Obama, please believe there are a lot of democrats and independents that don't like Mrs. Clinton.  I'll admit I'd never vote for her in a primary.  But to turn around and vote against a platform that better reflects my beliefs...I don't drink that much on election day.  McBlinky is dangerous and would be an inept continuance of Bush policies.
The big question is: Will PUMAs listen to her?

If they don't then they are obviously not behind Hillary at all. They would prefer to go AGAINST her wishes and they don't believe in her policies at all. I'd like to know why other than the stupid reason of Hillary not being respected.
Hillary you are amazing and it is a shame the wrong person is going to official become our nominee. I don't know if I will be motivated enough to cast my vote for him but I appreciate all you are doing to bring the party together...too bad O and his supporters can't bring themselves to do the same.
Bless Ted Kennedy's Lion Heart. One can only imagine what it is taking from him to get to Denver, much less speak ... at this critical juncture in our Nation's history. He almost, almost puts the Clintons to shame in comparison, but perhaps this is a little too much to lay on their shoulders ....
As an avid Hillary supporter throughout the primary I can honestly say that she is doing everything that she can.  I am constantly receiving emails from her team about Barack Obama and how we should rally behind him. Since she has condeded she has stood behind her word and thrown her full support behind him.  She is a class act and a remarkable candidate.
It is unfortunate that Mr. Obama chose to ignore the 18 million americans that supported her by choosing Senataor Biden as his running mate.
I do hope that it does not backfire on him in the end.
I for one will have trouble voting for a man who has changed his position so many times in the past two months, including his decision to elect a status quo vice president rather than a woman who brings with her the support of 18 million americans.  It is evidently clear to me that Senator Clinton wants me to vote for him and stand behind him as she has done, but I do not believe that he is the agent of change he claims he is and that he will effectively take care of that mess that George W. Bush created.

I believe I will turn a blank ballot and refuse to let myself stoop to the level of having to choose between the lesser of two evils, yet again.
It's too bad, that we Obama supporters are expected to pay off her campaign debt while some of her supporters stay on the Obama attack mode. If they are real supporters, why don't they each kick in a few bucks? After all, it isn't Barack Obama's fault - or mine, that she couldn't manage her own campaign finances. Seems like she must be sending different messages to her supporters. Can't be that many thick-headed democrats.
Well said, Senator Clinton.

What with all the press coverage regarding the bad feelings between Sen. Clinton supporters and Sen. Obama supporters, you'd think that there were no voters out there who voted for one, but would be just fine with the other. I cast my caucus vote (I'm from Washington State) for Hillary Clinton, but I have eagerly backed Barack Obama since he won the primary. There are a lot of us out there, in fact i'd say we are the majority of primary voters who would have supported either candidate.

I know the damage four more years of Bush-esque policies will do to our country and that is exactly what we will get from John McCain. The man is incurious, ideological, and above all, blind to the pulse of the United States, not to mention the world.

Way to go Hillary, I hope you hit your speech right out of the park!

Obama/Biden '08!!!
Hillary is getting closer and closer to my writing her a check. I've said many times that I would not put pen to check until i saw how she and Bill campaigned for the Democratic nominee. I'll help her retire her debt if she continues to do the right thing. Whether Bill comes along is irrelevant. If he wants to stand on the sidelines while history is being made, that will be reflected on the history books and we know how important his legacy is to him.
Maybe Democrats would believe Hillary if she weren't so tepid in her supposed support of Obama, and if she'd quit calling him her opponent.  Hillary is doing for Hillary and no one else.  I cringe at the thought of her walking up on that stage while doing that finger pointing thing again, like oh yeah there's someone who likes me, I'll point at him, oh, there's another, I'll point at her and the finger pointing goes on.  It's enough to make me scream!  It reminds me of the time Hillary made her exit off a plane and began her finger pointing which was aimed at her aide because no one else bothered to show up, but on TV it looked like she had an adoring crowd waiting for her.  As Chris Matthews, says, Ha!
Hillary has a lot of work to do right here in Denver.

Perhaps the winning margin in a close race is either sitting it out or voting for the Satanic Hosts because these poor suckers believed Hillary's and Mark Penn's vitriolic, ruthless, gutless, desperate, attacks on everything and everyone Obama.

Now like the women of 1980s ABC, who wanted anyone but Carter and got Reagan, Iran-Contra, and a Supreme Court from hell, they line up enthusiastically for self-immolation.

Hillary... you have a lot of work to do... you need to beg forgiveness...

On that day when Hades freezes over, I expect to hear your full apology to the American people and the world.

(Gee, Hil, you can still be McCain's VP!  Go for it!)

Thank you Hilliary!!  Go Democrats.  It is time for change!!
You can't help but notice the contrast in Clinton's appearance after losing to Obama.  When she was campaigning in the primaries, she looked like a million bucks 24/7.  But stumping for Obama she looks like something the cat dragged in.  Maybe trying to elicit a little sympathy?
Maybe its just me but it almost seems like if Hillary were standing there promising she's going to support Obama a camera could pan in on her feet or behind her back and see that she was crossing her fingers or her toes! Yeah its what we needs and hopefully her staunch supporters buy it..but with the absence of Bill speaking up it just seems...well..insincere. Obama is the best candidate. And John McCain would be a terrible choice. I think that's obvious. The strong Clinton supporters who are willing to let America continue to decline because their candidate isn't running are crazy! And clearly never believed in what Hillary said she stood for to begin with. We see what shape the Republican reign has left the country in..to not vote for a change is plum dumb. Just as it was in 2004.

GOBama '08!
Hillary always says the right thing when she knows it will be publicized. She is a smart politician and she knows if she says in public what she is saying to her supporters and surrogates behind the scenes, she would be blamed for helping to create a situation that would cause Obama to lose the election so she could run in 2012.  Just like she threw Kerry under the bus in 2004, to clear the way for herself in 2008.
Does Hillary care about the country?  Sure, but she cares a whole lot more about Hillary and her personal ambitions.
Thank you, Senator Clinton, a class act.  McCain would be a disaster to women, and you have the diginity to not allow him to use you, as well as caring enough for American women to acknowledge how awful a McCain administration would be for us and our future.
WE WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF HILLARY WOULD TELL PAUL BAGALI AND HIS BUDDY JAMES CARVILLE THAT THE CAMPAIGN IS OVER OVER, OVER, OVER OVER AND IF

THEY ARE TRUE DEMOCRATS, THEY NEED TO GET ON BOARD THE TRAIN AND STOP GOING ON TV CAUSING PROBLEMS BECAUSE OUR ISSUES AS AMERICANS ARE BIGGER THAN THEIR PERSONAL ISSUES

YOU KNOW BAGALI AND CARVILLE, YOU ARE NOT SUFFERING BUT WE ARE THE VERY PEOPLE THAT YOU SAY YOU REPRESENT, JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE AN ECONOMIC ISSUE

HAVEN'T LOSS YOUR HOME, CAR, CAN'T BUY GAS, LOST PENSIONS, CAN'T BUY INSURANCE

GET OUT OF OUR WAY THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU OR THE CLINTONS THAT YOU KEEP PROUDLY TRYING TO SPLIT THE PARTY.

GET OVER IT WE THE PEOPLE HAVE MORE PRESSING ISSUES WE ARE BROKE YOU ARE NOT, SO GET OUT OF OUR WAY OR JUST MOVE TO ANOTHER PARTY PLEASE

WITH SO CALLED DEMS LIKE YOU, WE CAN DO WITHOUT YOU DRAGGING US DOWN AND CONTRIBUTING TO OUR CURRENT STRUGGLES.
I appreciate Hillary's words today and I'm sure she will continue her strong support of Obama this week and beyond.  I also appreciate those Hillary supporters (Pat Huntington NY, for one) for their continuing support of the Democratic nominee.  You clearly have your heads on straight.  It's great to support your candidate passionately, but even better to finish second with grace and dignity.  I don't understand why any of Hillary's supporters would go against what we all know to be the best choice for our own future.  Hillary says it best when she points out that she is doing just what she knows Obama would do for her had she won the nomination.  Same goes for me - had Hillary won, I'd have been disappointed after all of the hard work I put in for Obama, but I would certainly support and vote for Hillary in the GE.

So heal your wounds, Hillary supporters, and come back to your party.  Trust me - Barack and Joe will work for the same ideals that Hillary has worked and will continue to work for.
What's up with Bagali and Carville?

These guys are intent on sinking the Dems Chances

They are not interested in the Voter's issues and struggles just the fact that their candidate did not get the proper respect according to their standards.

Please tell Bagali and Carvall to get out of the way this is not about them but the Trial and Tribulations of the American Voters

It's apparent they have sufficient Income and Money to take care of their families

But they don't care about ours.  We can only get out of this spot if Dems pull it together.

Stop it, Stop it Stop it!  You two
Dear DAT:  You need to get out more, my dear.  Ann Richards, she of the sparkling eyes (no doubt), passed away in 2006.  Yeah, I'm sorry too.  But she's not likely to be speaking at this (or any other) Convention.

Bobbi?  You out there?
DV, CA (Sent Monday, August 25, 2008 4:08 PM)

No she's still standing out on Highway 12 with her NO HUNTING OBAMA sign.  No one told her that Obama left Eau Claire yesterday.
Why are there still people out there that make fun of Barack Obama's name and question his spiritual beliefs? Specifically someone's comment contained a spelling like Obahhma...there have been others. Progression with race relations and any other relationship building in this country will not go too much further even with SUPERB leadership because so many of us are proudly and defiantly IGNORANT. So don't blame problems on leadership, take some blame yourselves. Neither Hillary nor Barack deserve the blatant disrespect. Its mindless fodder I suppose...for the mindless.
Remember back a few months ago when Obama said that all of Hillary's supporters would vote for him but he wasn't sure she could get the votes of his supporters?

Looks like he was a bit mistaken and may lose the election because of the way he trashed Bill and Hillary Clinton during the primaries.

Tim Russert called him out on his race baiting during one of the debates as he , uh, you know, ah, um ah, hemmed and hawed his way through some BS response.

And now more trash talk from the Obama folks:

DENVER -- A black Hillary Clinton delegate on Sunday accused state Senate President Emil Jones of calling her an "Uncle Tom."
Jones -- Barack Obama's political mentor -- denied using the racially loaded slur against Chicago political consultant Delmarie Cobb, but two aldermen who said they witnessed the Saturday night exchange back up Cobb's account.

So much for unity!
Sen. Clinton is doing a good thing

Now Sen. Clinton can you please Call off

Paul Bagalla and James Carvall and tell them this Election is not about them and their feelings they are wearing on their sleeves but

it now and alwyas has been about the American People and the Economic suffering they are enduring

Mr. Bagalla and Mr. Carvelle,

We are loosing homes, cars, pensions, insurance or can't get appropriate coverage or insurance companies cut our benefits, can't buy gas, groceries, can't afford to send our children to college

Apparently you gentlemen have no Money Problems, but the majority of Ordinary Americans Are Fighting to Live daily

So Stop making this about you, you, you, you, you,

Get over it and move on please!  Come to PA, OH and see the devastation!

If you can't put the American People Above your Emotions, then just get out of our way.  Stay Silent!
I think that Hillary has waited a little to long to really get behind Hillary.
Never once have a received an email from her with a really credible endorsement of Obama.  Basically her emails have been calls to donate to her campaign.
I have seen no sign that Hillary has ever stopped campaigning which is why she 'suspended' her campaign rather than ending it.  That is why she did not release her delegates months ago and that is why she is unable to open her mouth without reminding her supporters that she received 18 million votes, while Barack received 18 million "plus or minus".

I don't expect that Obama will ever get all the support of all her voters (that has never happened for any candidates in history), but please don't feed me the hogwash that Hillary isn't still feeding her supporters and surrogates (out of the public spotlight), that she should be the nominee!
HUH?????????????
Pressed again on whether she was giving a full-hearted endorsement, and whether her supporters would be, she said, “It would have been the same way if Barack Obama had won, and we'd be fighting for the unity of our party.”

HUH???????????
Go Hilary, all the haters of peace from the McCain camp will use your good name to play their dirty politics but at the end of the day it's the maturity and unity of the DNC that will prevail.  You will always be respected by the American women.  Go for it and God bless you.
I couldn't care less what any person on this site says - you all have a right to your own opinion.

This is one Democrat that would rather vote for a 3rd Bush term before i would ever vote for Obama.  The future of my country is far more important to me that the future of this fractured, hi-jacked Dem party by the left wing nutjobs Pelosi and Dean? Uh, no thanks - I'll take my chances with McCain.

And since, I'm a middle-class, working, white guy why WOULDN'T I vote for John McCain - Screw Obama and his racist wife!
For all wanting party unity - knocking Bill and Hillary doesn't help.

I think the Clinton protesters and P.U.M.A's are Repubs in disguise.  They are just trying to play up the split with the media so they will cover that more than the convention itself.  And the sad part is the MSM are buying into it.  No REAL democrat would vote for McCain over Obama.  Why would they vote for McCain, who votes with Bush 95% of the time. I also voted for Clinton but now I am fully in support of Obama.  He won fair and square.  No Lets get Repubs out of the Whitehouse!!
I am another support of Hillary and I will not be voting for Obama. No way, no how. Change you can believe in? I am praying that McCain picks Carly Fiorina! That ought to shake up the race!
Mark, why on earth should Hilary beg for forgiveness? What she's done in the primaries were kid gloves. In fact, she's given Obama some much needed training. She even refused to go down a road that Mark Penn advised - the same tactics the Repubs are using right now against Obama.

You know, some of Obama's supporters vile remarks are so ticking people like me off who are ready to vote for him. What else do you folks want from Hilary - have her on her knees begging for mercy?

Let me make this clear, it is YOU people who ought to be begging for mercy for her and her supporters to assure the thin resume Obama the White House. Too bad it wasn't Ron Paul on the other side but McCain.

She's doing everything she can and had shown more class than all you Obamabots could possibly muster.

Peace is two way you know. Stop the vile remarks, it shows your true colors. It is NOT only Hilary's responsibility to unite this party but you Obama supporters as well.

Continue your venemous post and comments - it seems to be more important to you folks to hurl insults at the Clintons than to make sure McCain does not get elected. That's another perspective people don't really want to consider and see.

MSNBC please post this.
Now that was a great comeback, Hillary!  Keep it up.  Let's unite behind Obama ... and I'm a Independent with Conservative leanigs.
How sad this is. All of you Clinton HATERS are now playing nice. We hate you and you boy, and will not forgive you for what you and Huessin did to her. You're all a disgrace to America ! You have captured and tortured are great leader into being a obama minion. But the WAR still rages !

Justice will be our in Nov !
Former Texsas Governor Ann Richards is giving republican ideology a kick in the teeth, as she gives her passionate speech. Bravo!

ps., She's a gorgeous older woman. Her eyes just sparkle.
DAT

How DARE you speak about a great woman like ANN, while associating her with that damn Muslim
What does it say about Hillary's leadership abilities if she cannot even get her own supporters to follow her lead?  Either they don't respect her views and urgings to get behind Obama, or they think she is lying and really doesn't mean what she says--either way, not a great statement about Hillary or her supporters.  I appeal to all Clinton supporters:  Do not put spite and revenge ahead of this country's best interest.  That will only allow John McCain and the Republican policies to continue their damage for four more years.  We cannot afford four more years of that!
PGarland, Louisville, KY

This countrys best interest was Hillary.... now it's McCain !

All you sick obama people;  JUSTICE WILL COME SOON FOR OBAMA !
Ejoying beating Hillary now thats she down and out. While you at it drag her by her hair around the convention, I know all of you and Obama would love that.

BUT keep in mind her warriors are still out here setting up your boys dimise ! e will get the last laugh !
