I don't get why some First Readers have such a problem with Joe Scarbourgh and Pat Buchanan. Personally, I like my ideas challenged and, for the most part when you consider their background, they do a reasonably fair job. Don't get me wrong. I need a strong dose of Olbermann to counter an endless stream of neocon crap. However, it's just as important to try to understand where reasonable people with a different point-of-view are coming from. I also like professionalism. Chris, David, Keith and Joe need to check their gigantic egos at the door. Matthews, in particular, needs to say less. It might significantly reduce the chances of me hurting my neck from shaking my head.

And yet, it isn't BS. Nice language too by the way. Must of learned that from Baracks old church. Obama camp appears to be in a panic.

Really tired of this "B.S." about clinton/obama.  Sorry guys, the primaries are over - enough already!  They know the future of the Democratic Party depends on what happens in this election, and that is Hillary's future as well.  I expect that they will work tirelessly to get a Dem. in the White House again.  Can't you find anything else to talk about?

Clinton doesn't need to show anyone his speech. He's a big boy now, and can write it all by himself just fine without Axelrod, Obama, or anyone else.

So here we are, the Democratic National Convention. We are in the second day of this post-rational (thanks Rachel Maddow) gathering of political nonsense. And all I can possibly think of is:

What did you honestly think was going to happen Clintons?

Now I know the last thing we need is more divisive talk about the Democratic Party, but seriously? Every single pundit, news anchor, elected official, and so called expert that receives airtime, is working as hard as possible to cover up the huge rift Clinton’s protracted campaign has caused.

And I see right through it. They all seem like that one socially awkward individual that tries just a little too hard to fit in. They are trying their absolute damndest to convince you and I, and the rest of the nation, that the primary has not left the party divided. There is a complete façade of everything being just peachy, and it is so completely faked. The Democratic Party is as nervous as all get out right now because of the situation the Clintons have created. Is this façade of unity really supposed to fool everyone?

Clinton’s refusal to cede the democratic nomination to Obama when it was clear that she would not gain enough delegates was detrimental. That choice has created this dismal situation. That choice has created the PUMA’s (one of the most ridiculously rabid and irrational groups since PETA). That choice has created attack ads that use Hillary’s words against her. That choice has created a situation that could conceivably break Obama’s presidency and place a permanent asterisk next to the Clinton legacy. Think about it, if Obama loses:

-We get another Bush term
-Gas prices continue to soar (off-shore drilling is not going to bring relief for at least 10 years)
-Our soldiers stay in Iraq
-We will continue to be less than respected abroad
-At least some of the blame will be placed on the failure of the Democratic Party to unify
-The Clintons’ will be seen as political leaders that refused to serve a cause greater than their own
-And I could go on for days and days and days…and well you get the idea

So what did you expect to happen Clintons? Did you honestly think that, had you wrested the nomination from Obama, things would be any different right now? Did you honestly think that the millions of people that voted for Obama would happily vote for the candidate that forced her will upon an entire nation?

I hope, for your sake, that your speeches at the DNC make reparations for the wrongs you have done. I hope your speeches prove that you are more interested in the advancement of our nation rather than the advancement of your own political careers. I hope you can set aside your egos, and fully embrace and endorse a candidate that won the primary race fair and square. I hope that you can do something to get your rabid and irrational supporters to start listening to you again. I hope you realize that you have created a monster that is so blinded; it would rather elect an out of touch republican who shares none of your beliefs or policies. I hope you realize that all of this is your doing, and if you cannot repair it…you will forever be known as the political leaders who felt so entitled to the presidency, they could not see the forest for the trees. The political leaders who could not set aside their personal egos for the greater good. The political leaders who would not serve a cause greater than their own.

For your sake, and ours…I hope that does not happen.

Alexrod cares about the polls. What's he supposed to say though, 'Oh My Gosh, this is all going in the toliet!', even though it is all going in the toliet. Campaign managers are walking excuse makers. Axelrod is one of the best at it. He has to be, he doesn't have much to work with.

The Clintons are the least of Obama's problems.  This has been one of the most BORING conventions that I have ever witnessed.  The Dems are going to lose to McCain because no one will be able to stay tuned in to find out if we even have a message.  You can have the best speech in the world, but when it isn't delivered with passion and sincerity NO one will be listening.  There isn't even much enthusiasm on the convention floor.  This is one of the biggest moments to reach the American people and with the exception of a few speeches I don't see how they can hold anyone's attention.  It's nearly 10:00 on the East Coast and people are going to be going to bed and they WON'T be tuning in tomorrow night or Thursday night even if it will be Bill and Obama speaking.

I bet McCain gets the poll bounce at the end of the week.  I'm disgusted.  I'll vote for Obama, because he's the best chance for a decent future for this country, but I think the Dems will have lost too many others by the end of this sad performance.

How much is Bill charging Obama for the speech? Do standard rates apply, or does he give Barack a discount?

I just heard a powerful keynote speech of unity given by Governor Mark Warner of Virginia and no more than 30 seconds after he ended, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann were talking about Hillary Clinton having her eye on the 2012 presidential election. Did they hear Warner's speech? Could they find nothing in it that spoke to Americans? What about bringing jobs home to Americans? What about the fact that Americans want to act to make this country better than it is. Can these journalist pundits only serve as the pot stirrers of the Republican brew of divide and conquer?  This is extremely frustrating, at least for this former Clinton and now Obama supporter.

What I want to know is why is it the Clintons job to now bail out Obama? It was the DNC and Obama campaign that angered the voters yet it is now Hillarys job to fix it....maybe you shouldnt have driven her out of the campaign

I am so sick of always hearing about the Clintons.  They need to get over themselves and get a life anywhere else. They are nothing but publicity whores.  The comment about being respected overseas.  When were we?  I grew up overseas and people hated us then you just didn't hear about it.  It was the people of Kenya how told me to read a book called "The Ugly American" to find out why Americans are so disliked.  

Ian:  Let me answer that.  I don't mind having my views challenged either.  I actually don't mind Pat Buchanan, and think he is kind of funny.  I watch Don Imus in the morning when I am not out on my horse, and he is a conservative. (Yes, he really is.)  What I mind from Scarborough is the bullying, acting out behavior, and the simplistic inane things that he says.  If he acted like an adult, I would be able to listen to him no matter what his views are.  It is his disrespect for others that I cannot abide.

Chris Matthews and Co. keep complaining that the Democrats aren't going after Bush/Cheney/McCain, but maybe if they shut their pieholes for one minute and listened to some of the speeches - Kucinich, Ted Strickland, Brian Schweitzer - they'd hear some pretty pointed criticisms of the Republicans - C-Span is the only way to go. Ian, it's not really Joe's opinions that are upsetting; it's his lack of professionalism and rudeness to his cohorts that's in question.  One time, it's ok; but there is a clear pattern.  He talks over people.  Most of all, he seems to have a problem with women.  The way he treated Maddow adn the way he talks down to Mika every day that makes me cringe.

That Governor from Montana should've been the keynote speaker. He had everyone on thier feet ! That's the excitement that's been lacking to date.

Is the sky on your planet a nice magenta color?  Lavender?  Periwinkle?  The supposed "rift" has been media narrative #1 since Clinton conceded, challenged only occasionally when MediaCorp tries again with the "elitist celebrity" schtick.

Well, if her speech tonight won't stop this myth nothing will.

I just read the blog. It seems that lastofourkind (among others) is STILL mad at Clinton for trying to win!

I've said this before.  The problem is not with Obama...it's with YOU, his supporters.  Clinton fought hard, and lost.  Obama fought hard to win, and is gracious.  The real enemy here is NOT Clinton.  

Wake up, people! LET IT GO.  OBAMA WON!  BE HAPPY! Or you can just keep driving more people away with more anti-Clinton dribbel. (If you weren't for Obama all along, then we don't want you, right? Even if it means McCain wins?) Are you looking for a reason to drive a wedge? If Obama looses, go ahead and blame the Clintons instead of yourselves.  And we all thought the CLINTONS were arrogant?  Maybe we all could benefit from a look in the mirror.

BTW, I liked Biden the best out of all the candidates. Great pick!
