Obama calls both Clintons to praise speech

Posted: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 11:46 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Hudspeth
Senior Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs said in a statement to the traveling press corps: "After leaving the house party, Sen. Obama called and talked for several minutes with Sen. Hillary Clinton, saying how grateful he was for her support, that she gave a terrific speech, and that all those he watched with in Billings, MT were moved by her video and introduction from Chelsea. Also said he loved her line 'No way, no how, no McCain.'"

"Sen. Obama also called and spoke with President Bill Clinton for several minutes, saying Sen. Clinton could not have been better and made the case for change. Obama said he knew how proud he must have been watching as he was last night watching Michelle speak and how grateful he was for their support."

People. People who need people. I'm starting to hear Steisand.
This is the difference between political pros and the rest of us. They do what they have to do when it's on the line.
The question is whether the rest of us will take those people, as well as ourselves, she so selflessly talked about seriously and do the same.
That is what I am talking about folks. The bandaids are on we as a party are healing so we can heal a nation that has seen The Oil Barons in the White House watch our economy take a nose dive. With Bush's sidekick our as Hillary said it his new found twin planning to give of more of the same.
We are all thankful to the Clintons...they are true democrats...they are very grounded in the needs of our country and the future for all the people.

The only difference between John McCain and George Bush is the ranch will be in Arizona instead of Texas.

Go Obama!! Go Democrats!!
I must admit that I have never been so proud to be a woman in my life.
General comment: Hilary Clinton demonstrated one thing to me this evening.  Senator Obama's judgement on key matters is extremely questionable.  How in the world could he have missed this VP selection so badly????
I couldn't be more impressed with Hillary's speech.  She spelled out how the country and the world is at a crossroads...and we have to change the direction of this country.

Well done Hillary!
Haha.. Clintonites... Oh where are those PUMA buffons.. We are missing you guys.. come join us REPUBLICANS.. we can use you and then desert you.. I am waiting to see what will happen to you afer McCain wins the white house... u will be kicked to the curbs.. just what u deserve.. u have no loyalty and principles and so will be pushed to the ground.. BUT FOR NOW.. help us get into WH. Romney for VP. McCain in 08 and Romney for the rest ......

Let's hear it for the WOMEN!

 The Convention chant should be unrelenting for the next two days;
NO WAY, NO HOW, NO MCCAIN!
Such an awesome speech! This was the night James Carville was looking for.

Warner, who people had doubts about, beat Bush and McCain down while maintaining a positive feel to the whole speech.

Clinton, though, was amazing. If there is still a PUMA left after tonight, they have an (R) beside their name.

So, this is what Unity feels like. Finally, we can fix things.

The democrats are ready to fight this out now! We are uniting at every level...this is too important.

There are too many issues to back down. Hilary isn't backing down and we need to fight with her!

The only difference between John McCain and George Bush is the ranch will be in Arizona instead of Texas.

Go Obama!! Go Democrats!!
Hill, you did good! I was worried, but not any more.  You showed your true passion--to change this country for the better.
WHAT A HARD LEFT TO MCCAIN AND FOX HOUND NOISE THEY ARE PISS OFF TRYING TO MAKE UP EXCUSES PLEASE. HANNITY AND HUME WITH YOUR SORRY ASSES. GET OUT THE WAY MORNING JOE THE BIG MOUTH GOP AND SHUT THE HELL UP .
If you think this feels great...just think how it will feel to win the election and have a democrat in the whitehouse! Democrats are going to come together and celebrate for the next eight years!

The only difference between John McCain and George Bush is the ranch will be in Arizona instead of Texas.

Go Obama!! Go Democrats!1
Great speech. President Hillary Clinton 2016. She just got Obama the election ofr 2008/2012. I am officially becoming a Democrat tonight.
Seems to me the media exaggerated the rift between the Obama and Hillary factions. PUMAs nonwithstanding, the contention the media seemed to hope for and indirectly be promoting hasn't happened. I think Americans need to note how little news we get and how much unqualified conjecture is passed off as news. Even delegates from the 10th district in Ohio, heavily for Hillary, seemed perplexed and confused by the media insistence they were against Obama and willing to vote Republican.

That persistent and false story can be traced directly to an irresponsible media. The real story, the story the media seems to have completely missed is not PUMAs. It's a story about women, women coming into their own and feeling profound disappointment to have come so close and to have lost. The fact women are so egregiously underrepresented in political office, especially the Congress is the story. But did we have stories about that explaining why these women are so disappointed, disillusioned even? No, instead they were painted as crazy and reactionary only. The age old strategy to see women as hysterical when they aren't tractable and going along with what men want.  There's a bigger historical context. Tonight Hillary's video and speech tried to point that out. But the media ignored that.

I'm a man, and all I see is the male prerogative and media bias.  I support Barack. I was for him from the start. But I can see how amazing it would have been also to have a woman in the white house, not as First Lady but as President. Too bad the media didn't give that story any play at all. They were too busy trying to instigate a fight and generate a convention brawl/chick fight. How sexist can you get?. Geez.
I'm a long-time OBAMA SUPPORTER....now I'm a FORMER Clinton-basher!  She did what she had to do tonight!  Bring it home Joe!  Bring it home Bill!  Bring it home Obama!

UNITE THE PARTY!  No Way, No How, No McCain!
NO DRAMA, NO OBAMA!!! MORE DRAMA WITH OBAMA!!
