Day after boos, Palin skips nod to Clinton

From NBC/NJ's Matthew E. Berger
O’FALLON, MO -- While Gov. Sarah Palin gave essentially the same speech today as she has twice before, one big thing was missing -- any reference to Hillary Clinton.

Palin, the presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee, spoke alongside McCain and two former Republican presidential challengers -- Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney -- at a minor league baseball stadium here.

She began her speech by talking about her trip to Mississippi earlier in the day, and calling on people in the Gulf region to obey warnings to evacuation.

“To the citizens of the Gulf Coast area, your lives and many others are in balance,” she said. “And success of law enforcement and emergency workers and our great National Guard depends on your cooperation.”

After that, she went back to the stump speech she delivered on Friday and Saturday. But she skipped the entire section in which she highlighted the achievement of having a woman on the ticket -- as well as her praise for those who came before her, Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton. Yesterday, when campaigning in Pennsylvania, she received some boos from the audience when Clinton’s name was mentioned.

It is unclear why the campaign cut the paragraphs, which were widely praised Friday for appealing to Clinton supporters who may feel disenfranchised by the Obama campaign, especially after Clinton was passed over for the vice presidential nomination.

DON'T YOU GET IT???
She is a gimmick to get the Hillary supporters, even though she stands for NOTHING that Hillary stood for, NOTHING...

         Don't fall for the

Beauty & the BEAST fairy tale

She's not good for the country and neither is the Dirty OLD man, mcSLIME

P.S. Cindy better keep an eye on him... Appears he has his eye on palin's back side...
Palin is not really going to run.  This is just a head-fake.  McCain just wants to focus some attention on his campaign.  She will withdraw in a couple of weeks.
The GOP campaign is turning into a joke. Is it too late to switch to Democrat?
That's so funny.
And, instead of backing her words of praise for Hillary, she drops them. Wouldn't want to be mistaken for a profile in courage.
Ut oh, we have a Stepford veep candidate.

She can only say one speech with minor modifications.  I can't wait for some hard hitting interviews.  We may even see smoke coming out of her ears.

Say no to the Beauty & the Beast ticket!

Vote for Obama/Biden 08/12!
Now, can we skip Palin and her Flat Earth Society? McLame has endangered us all with the irresponsible selection: bridge to nowhere flip flop, no international experience, global warming doesn't exist, creationism in school - she has it all. Shame on McSame.
That's because, with this campaign, its not about doing what's right and just.
It's about doing whatever necessary to pander the
vote of the American people.
Talk about putting your "Country First"!
Ladies dont fall for it!
Berger wrote..."It is unclear why the campaign cut the paragraphs, which were widely praised Friday for appealing to Clinton supporters who may feel disenfranchised by the Obama campaign, especially after Clinton was passed over for the vice presidential nomination."

It was because she was boooooooooed, you idiot!! Read your own "First Read!"

So it took her 1 day to kick Hilary Clinton to the curb.  So much for integrity.  Talk about pandering, first to HRC supporters now to the right.  HRC supporters even PUMA can see right through the flip flop politics of this.
WTF???? Now the real Palin is coming to the light. Geraldine and Hillary were just being used. They don't care about the history, they just want to get elected. This just goes to show you that she is not a leader, but a follower. She will not be a "Maverick" if she gets into the White House. She will be a right wing puppet who will let Rush Jacka** Limbaugh and BillO tell her what to do. If she truely cared about women's accomplishments, she would have stuck to the original speech boos or not. But as I thought, she the type that will tuck here tail and let "the man" tell her what to do. She is so big and bad that she can shoot moose in the head, but she can't handle some boos from a croud. She is a sad person. So very, very sad.
As for Hurricane Gustav, I pray that no one is harmed in any way and that there is minimal damage to the Gulf Coast, however the Republicans are now reaping what they sowed (They must have forgotten to read there Bibles on this issue). Katrina is still fresh in the minds of us all. There is now way in hell a Government should have let the people of New Orleans drown. Karma is a B****!
It's 'unclear' to you why she dropped the Hillary comments?  Get REAL!

Sarah is not even in Clinton's league...  I thought John respected Hillary more than this cheap shot.
naaaa.. the booing on CNN was barely audible. It was just a reaction... she was informed by polling that it wasn't working
I don't know why this woman, a radical right wing person who hunts innocent animals and is under investigation in her home state, would have the nerve to even mention Hilary's name. Hilary Clinton has worked tireless for women's rights for years and this newcomer, right wing fundamentalist tries to connect herself to Hilary?????? This extremist would reverse all the great things Hilary and other hardworking women in this country have accomplished for us women. Sarah Palin should be ashamed of herself - but I guess in politics everything goes. Sarah - you are not a Hilary and never will.
The consistency within McCain campaign is its inconsistency in the stump speech. They have low balled Hillary Clinton for political points and had their hand called. Their commitment to attracting former Clinton supports evaporated quickly. McCain and company are like palm trees blowing in hurricane winds, easily bending. What a sad commentary for a once proud GOP.
JUST WONDERING:  How did Sarah Palin fare in the MSNBC veepstakes?  Was she in the initial draw and if so how far did she make it?
That signals the end of the attempt to appeal to Hillary voters. The right won't stand for mentioning Hillary, as evidence to Palin getting booed for it.
Let’s get one thing straight PTA Lady you can not use the Women of the Democratic Party because we are not stupid and be careful of assuming you can use the Pro – Choice Women of the Republican Party also.
So this big pander bear will only appreciate the work of women pioneers if the crowd does too? I like her less and less.
My co-workers and I heard the news about McCain's choice at work on Friday. Regardless of our party affiliation and gender, we all agreed that Palin's selection said a lot more about McCain's judgment and decision-making than the first-term governor of Alaska.

Desperate, insulting, reckless, hypocritical, cynical, and misguided were the words that kept coming up in our conversation. We concluded that 72-year-old McCain did not follow his own campaign slogan ("country first") when he pulled this stunt in a desperate attempt to grab headlines from Obama, energize white evangelicals and conservatives, and appeal to disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters. Our conclusion: Shame on McCain! He deserves to lose this election big time!
Stumbled upon this website...

Alaska only has a population of 500,000 people. I used to live in Wasilla. From Wasilla to the Governor of Alaska, I can understand because I understand Alaska. However, from Wasilla to the White house in 18 months? You have got to be kidding me ! Is this a three stooges movie? Please wake me up!
Sen. McCain, the code, DUTY-HONOR-COUNTRY
Do you think your father and Grandfather would be proud of your choice for V.P. and the way you have ran your campaign?
i really hope that biden and obama do not handle palin with kit gloves. hammer this lady on her abuse of power allegations and her lack of experiance. what does she know of mainstream issues? inner city crime, poverty, unemployment, social outreach programs. to promote that she has just as much experiance as obama is absurd. this about running a country with real problems not an alaskan summer camp!
Why is she on the campaign trail with that low cut blouse we almost could see her top.  She needs pantsuits.
Here is why. The people attending these events are extreme conservatives and evangelical christians. Their behavior is not surprising since they are are particularly hypocritical group and one issue voters who really do not care the least bit about women or women's issues. Governor Palin's rise to this ticket has nothing to do with her, her experience or her ability. It has to do with having extrmeme right wing views and appealing to the christian conservative base - accomplished, and John McCain's need to have a new trophy and wanting to be 40 instead of 72 - accomplished. Take a good look at his face when he looks at her. It is creepy!

I love the reporters and anlysts saying this is a maverick move, this is his maverick side, he is proving he is a maverick. To be honest, and they never will, a maverick would have selected Joe Lieberman, the person John McCain really wanted to select. That is what a maverick would have done. But no, he went against his own decision because he would not be elected if he chose Joe Lieberman and chose someone that would appeal to the extreme right. Pretty sad. John McCain has sold his soul and integrity to be elected president. I wonder how much it will really mean to him if he actually became president because he will not have earned it. Oh, excuse me, he never earned anything in his life so it probably won't bother him in the least. Reminds of some other current president.

Governor Palin's extreme views are not even remotely those of Hillary Clinton or her supporters. She believes creationism should be taught in public schools, abortion should be banned even if you are raped or a victim of incest, global warming is not caused by humans, etc. Hello? What planet has she been living on? These social issues and many others take on new meaning in this election since the next president will be selecting two or three supreme court justices. This is a long-term selection that will result in the extreme right wing christian conservatives overrunning our government and constitution worse than they already have. We have to stop it and change it before it is too late! Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves!

Governor Palin is no Hillary Clinton. She doesn't even come close.

No way, no how, no McCain/Palin.
I'm wondering where this 'widely praised' and 'great first impression' is coming from...

Frankly, the woman is hard to listen to and is an obvious political gimmick.

I'm so glad to see the Hillary pander blow up in their face.

McCain..You always say you put your country first..Well you didnt this time...You put yourself first...Your not fit to be president..
For all of you who do not have PTA on your resume, you would not know how to recover from the unfortunate Hillary boo incident. As a proud members of Presidential Tergiversates of America (PTA), Sarah and John have mastered the art of co-opting the change message, and asking America for a do-over.
Donna, Lincroft, NJ,

You asked, "Where's the beef"?

Tell us, 'Your Arrogance', "Where's the bravery"?

She'd dropped Hillary from her stump speech. What a wimp.
I have a Masters in Education, was a past member of the PTA and have served on a school board and city council....I would like to be the Sec. of Education.  You ask if I am up to the job..."Yup, Yup."
I have also traveled to Europe and have had my passport for more than a year(Palin got hers in 2007!).  Maybe I would be better suited for Sec. of State...Yup.
Palin is a fake and a lier. This should made for some good reading:
