Obama: Here comes the bounce?

Posted: Tuesday, September 02, 2008 9:35 AM by Domenico Montanaro

A new USA Today/Gallup poll shows Obama with a 50%-43% lead “among registered voters. In the USA TODAY Poll taken Aug. 21-23, the Illinois senator held a 4-percentage-point lead.” More: “Obama eliminated McCain's advantage as ‘a strong and decisive leader.’ By 46%-44%, those surveyed says that characteristic applies more to Obama than McCain. Before the convention, McCain held an 8-point advantage. Obama has a 13-point advantage as someone who ‘shares your values,’ almost double the edge he held before. He has an 8-point advantage as someone who is ‘honest and trustworthy’; pre-convention, they were equal.”

Also: “McCain's favorable-unfavorable rating was 54%-38%, a healthy mark but his highest unfavorable this year. Obama's rating was 61%-32%.”

Meanwhile, a new CBS poll has Obama up eight points, 48%-40%.

A couple of weeks ago, when Obama slipped three points in one of the polls, First Read's gleeful headline was "Obama lead cut in half". In today's poll, Obama regained those points plus a few, breaking 50% for the first time, but First Read's headline is "convention bounce" with a QUESTION MARK!!!. If I want news that is spun to favor the Rebublicans, I can always check out Fox Noise (as Keith calls it). Shame on you, MSNBC.
Great!  Great News !  At that beautiful 50% mark...

Thanks Barack & Joe for all you've done SO FAR to bring the country back together!
Throw in the towel John.  Americans are beginning to see you for what you are.  We are seeing you as a person who will win at all cost, pander, has more ambition than compation, lies with no regard for the truth, and completely lacks sound judgement.  You in no way show any signs of someone capable of leading this country into the future and enriching it for our children.
Anyone who vote for a republican this year...well I won't go there. But I pity those who vote for McSame just because Clinton is not on the ticket. You don't vote for a person you vote for a cause and what they stand for...History shows that the democrats have done far more for society as a whole than Republicans....We should vote wisely. A vote is not something to be taken lightly....I pray for those who vote irresponsibly, for they will be the ones who suffer when the wrong candidate (a republican) takes office.
You forgot to tell us how all of this is good news for McCain.  Isn't everything supposed to be good news for McCain?

The next month will show an another increase in the polls for Sen Obama and Biden.  There is a Presidential Debate and a Vice Presidential Debate.  Sarah Palin has an aweful lot of "boning up" real darned fast. Lets see how she does.

Further, these polls do not count hungry, new, excited voters.  That is going to be a margin of more than 10% of voters.  That is not measured in polls, but it is happening in Obama's Ground and Internet Game.  During the Convention last week, I watched on the Internet via the DNC site without all the reporters cutting in and talking, and received text messages about upcoming speeches, fundraising, and volunteering.  That happened each of the four days!!!  I received an text asking me to donate to the Red Cross for the Gulf coast and quickly was able to make a $5 donation on my cell phone!!!

You guys are missing the Ground Game that Obama has in place.  It has been in place for the past 18 months, I know because I have been there the whole time.
Also, Rasmussen has Obama up 51-45, and a Hotline poll has him up 48 to 39.  CNN and Zogby show him virtually tied with McCain, but for what its worth, the "poll of polls" at realclearpolitics.com shows Obama with his biggest lead of the campaign so far.
The bounce for Obama/Biden will be evident on 11/04/08.
McCain's judgement as it relates to his VP choice just adds to his inability to use good judgement.  Ms. Palin is definitely not a good substitute for Hillary Clinton!  What was he thinking?  To be a good leader one must be able to LEARN.  At 72, that process is slower than, say, Senator Obama's.  Actually, I think Senator McCain is unaware that he is just too old for the job.

Senator Obama is going to get an even greater "bounce."
The Palin announcement on Friday delayed the convention bounce. Now that it's clear that she's a terrible pick for VP, Obama's convention bounce is setting in.
There are many voters in America who do not have land-based telephones, and rely on their cellphones. I don't believe your polls take any of this into consideration. Obama will win this election by 9 percentage points in my opinion. The Palin decision knocked McCain down. I was considering voting for him, but not now. This is a joke on America to pick such an unqualified woman. I liked Tom Ridge, but McCain didn't have enough guts to tell the right wingers he wanted Ridge and that was all there was to it. This makes me angry too.  I will vote for Ron Paul as a write-in
