McCain: An impressive August

Posted: Tuesday, September 02, 2008 9:37 AM by Domenico Montanaro

Also lost in the shuffle yesterday -- the big fundraising numbers posted by the McCain camp. McCain raised at least $47 million in August, his biggest haul so far and a sign that he is dispelling doubts about his campaign among conservative donors." The number comes pretty close to Obama's July haul of $51 million. No word on Obama's camp's August.

Appearing on “Morning Joe,” Joe Lieberman provided some other little-known details of the behind-the-scenes on him being on the VP short list: "When Rick Davis called me a while back and said John wanted to put me on the short list, I was very surprised. I said he doesn't have to do that to thank me. And he said, no no, no, he is very serious."

Lieberman said he "didn't talk to John about it." He said he thanked him, and told him he was "honored." Lieberman, who talked a little of being vetted and talking to lawyers, said as of Thursday, he still didn't know if he would be picked. He said McCain called him Thursday night and didn't explicitly tell him it wasn't him, but he could read the "tea leaves." He heard Friday morning that it was Palin.

He praised Palin, saying she held some views he disagreed with but called her "fresh" and lauded her reformer image. Asked if she would have been selected if she weren't a woman, Lieberman said, "I don't know." He called her an "independent" and "a political power broker." "Obviously, the fact that she's a woman, I consider it a bonus. … John was obviously considering people with great records, but wanted to pick someone different; he really is the change candidate."

As far as his role in the Democratic caucus and if he was bothered by Democrats' reactions to his role in McCain's campaign, he said, "You gotta be a little bothered. But I understand. I feel really strongly that this is a crossroads election… We need the right president. I'll take whatever lumps, happy to come with it… Senators being senators they're still pretty cordial."

I was so looking forward to seeing Joe and Mika talk about this Palin brouhaha.  Boy, was I disappointed.  Should've known they would take her side.  Turned on Imus briefly - fell asleep.

Anyway...

(1) The crap re: Pat B. is total BS.  He might seem a bit racist, but a Nazi sympathizer?  Please.

(2) Where there is smoke, there is fire, folks.  Something's rotten in the state of Alaska.

If these rumors are untrue, then they are vicious and vile.

However, speaking as a mother, from what I have read and seen, something just doesn't add up.  I won't rehash everything here - others have already done that.  Either this is a cover up or this woman is completely stupid - neither of which lends credence to the "temperament" and "judgement" she's supposed to have.

I don't care if Bristol is pregs.  I am glad she is keeping the baby (I despise abortion, but I think women should have a right to choose - that's another thread, though.).

What I care about is (a) this whole "family values" hypocrisy, and (b) the unnecessary cover-up and (c) the repubs thinking we are stupid.

Just because it came from Daily Kos doesn't necessarily mean its bunk - look at the Enquirer and John Edwards (who, btw, the rightwingers went after with fervor).

This woman is an "unholy mess of a girl" is SO many ways.  Pat and Mike Murphy thinks she's beneficial to the ticket?

I am definitely missing something here...
I wouldn't exactly call the worst executive decision in McCain's career impressive though.

Identity politics folks.  Enjoy.

SUPERFICIAL+SHALLOW+NO SUBSTANCE=PALIN

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the
McTwilight Zone.
Evangelicals are sending in checks. Why?

Okay, she's pro-life, but does that alone explain it? I mean, aren't there a lot of Republicans who are pro-life; a lot of moms that McCain could have picked as a running mate?

Let's face it. Evangelicals love Fox, and Fox is basically soft-core porn disguised as news. They love running clips of female celebrities; they love showing scandals involving young blondes; they love running and re-running the Janet Jackson Super Bowl video over and over.

So McCain picks a beauty pageant contestant and the money rolls in. Sorry to be so cynical, but I don't see any other explanation that makes sense.
Palin's only qualification is that she's a true blue republican - under investigation and a corrupt, liar to her own folks back home. A perfect fit.
NO WAY TO PICK A VP ....
.
HOW SHOULD YOU PICK A RUNNING MATE FOR VP?

In 1987, Joe Biden ran as a Democratic presidential candidate.

When questioned by a New Hampshire resident about his grades in law school, Biden had inaccurately recollected graduating in the "top half" of his class when he actually graduated at the bottom of his class, 76th from 85. Biden also claimed that he had attended on a full scholarship, and had received three degrees. In fact, he had two majors, History and Political Science, and received a single B.A. degree, and had received a half-scholarship based on financial need. When confronted with these revelations, Biden withdrew from the nomination race on September 23, 1987. (Source - Wikipedia.org)

IS JOE BIDEN VP MATERIAL?
.

In his interview Joe Lieberman said, "John was obviously considering people with great records, but wanted to pick someone different; he really is the change candidate."

All the same breath he said "considering people with great records" and "someone different". A whole heck of a lot can certainly be read into that statement and I've got to agree with Joe, McCain did pick someone different.
Try to picture this government if McCain wins, Joe Liebermann, Lindsey Graham, Palin, McCain, what kind of collective judgement would we have here???

I am tired of hearing about McCain's experience, what exactly is McCain's experience?  His judgement has been wrong on everything...even the most racist white would not have opposed a Martin Luther King Holiday, yet McCain did...that is the kind of judgement you can expect.

When asked about Iran...bomb bomb bomb Iran...We are all Georgian's (demanded by his lobbyst advisor), expell Russia and let's get on with World War III or resume the cold war...Who voted against veteran benefits and still wants to be a commander in chief?

No matter how much money McCain raises...he should loose this election...we already suffered 7 years of poor judgment, we don't need more.

No way, No how No McCain.  ENOUGH!!!!!!
God forbid the GOP wins this election. Will Palin be in the White House breast feeding her son when she's on an important call with Putin or Gordon Brown? Her 3am wake up call will be to feed her son.

Obama/Biden for POTUS
'... she was a member for two years in the 1990s of the Alaska Independence Party, which has at times sought a vote on whether the state should secede...'

Palin wanted Alaska to SECEDE FROM THE US !!

Did she want Alaska to re-join Russia ?
Did she want Alaska to join Canada ?

Did she want Alaska to become an Aryan Homeland ??

Great job vetting her, Johnny !!

Does Sarah believe in Evolution ?
Does Sarah believe in Creationism ?
Did man walk with Dinosaurs ?

John McCain, reckless, irresponsible and incompetent

Say good night, Gracie !!

Money was never a problem for the Republicans. Many, many, and dare I say most, people in this country are sane, reasonable, and understand how this country should be run. And that's why we're contributing to, and voting for John McCain.
John McCain has been talking about "experience" as the most important criteria for becoming president. Then he chooses someone with ZERO foreign policy experience to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

He did this PURELY for political reasons. He risks putting a completely unqualified person in charge of this nation during wartime and an economic crisis, simply so that he could get more votes.

Does that sound like he's putting his country first? Does that sound like he'd "rather lose an election than lose a war"?

John McCain: Liar. Hypocrite. Republican.
Why the Palin Pregnancy Matters?

1.Indication of poor parenting?
2.Lack of supervision?
3.Her choice or no choice?
4.Lack of tolerance/support for teenagers who choose abortion or contraception
5.Privacy police from conservatives—gays, birth control, abortion, marriage
6.Implications of McCain campaign competence or incompetence
7.Implications of judgment/leadership. Do we need another Brownie or Harriet?
8.Was law broken—adult impregnating minor?
9.Was father vetted by parents?
10.Choice or mistake? Blessing or penalty?
11.Old enough to decide for self or forced into these life changing consequences for political gain?
This poll is believable!  John McCain, through his pick of Palin, has shown us that he has no judgment and that he does not put Country First!  That is an empty slogan for McCain.  It means nothing to him, except the opportunity for him to get a job that he is unqualified and incapable of executing in the best interest of America.
$47 Million? That wouldn't even cover Obama's ode to himself, like renting out a stadium to have his adoring fans cheer him on while Barack plays the role of the God Apollo.
Quit lying to yourselves about McCain and this idiotic Palin choice for vp.  Huckabee was my first choice but I was all for McCain until he began running a stupid campaign and picking this nobody no experience no foreign policy woman because he could not get all the Hilrey voters-just stupid.  I am voting for Bob Barr and hope you think about what would happen if McCain can be this stupid and if he dies and this nobody ends up making life and death of the country decisions for us.  I thought McCain was going to be honest and smart and he let down real republicans behind people like Huckabee and Romney.
That 47 million Mccain got in August is from the wealthy Repubs who want to continue getting Bush's Big tax cuts for the wealthy.  `They know Obama was to give the poor Middle Class a break for a change; "And they don't want that."
I am an Obama/Biden supporter.  I will do my best to give  Bristol Palin her privacy.  Teen pregnancy is a major problem in this country and I will not stand in judgment on that issue BUT there's something about  Gov. Sarah Palin that troubles me deep in my soul.  It seems as if it was such a rushed, ill-conceived political move on the part of Senator John McCain. I don't know that I can trust his judgment. I look at the Palin Family and they look so uncomfortable in this environment.  I think there's a lot more to Sarah Palin than we know.  I heard several talking heads proclaim she wasn't running for President.  No.  However, we all know she could very well become president as a result of some unforeseen event in the future.  I do not want to cast my vote without having a sense of security about whom we are electing.  We need to use wisdom and care in considering who will be the next President and Vice President of the United States.
Not much tonight to consider a belief as in influence or a reservation equivalent  to the Democrats physical properties of last week.

Mmmmmmmm.

Think I'll study some remedial mathematics this week.
I am thinking September will not bode as well for McCain. Not after this and I don't see 38 million people watching his acceptance speech. He'll be lucky if he gets half of that. And I don't forsee a big post convention bounce either. If I am wrong next week, I will admit it.
I'll say McCain is a change candidate. Changed from a fairly responsible and mature candidate in 2000 to irresponsible and wreckless candidate in 2008. How in the world McCain determined to select as his running mate Palin from Alaska is beyond me. Watch her and listen to her carefully. Would you want this person in the Presidency if something were to happen to McCain. I mean come on folks. This selection by McCain alone is a reason not to even consider McCain for the Presidency. The guy is nuts no matter how some on the right and some media try their best to downplay the insanity of this selection.

On another matter I'm sure McCain was concerned for the people of New Orleans as we all were, but why is the media, including Matthews, giving McCain talking points as if he were in charge of any relief efforts as a rsult of this storm. McCain is not in charge, he is a damn Senator. Don't we still have a President in office?
I am an Obama/Biden supporter.  I will do my best to give  Bristol Palin her privacy.  Teen pregnancy is a major problem in this country and I will not stand in judgment on that issue BUT there's something about  Gov. Sarah Palin that troubles me deep in my soul.  It seems as if it was such a rushed, ill-conceived political move on the part of Senator John McCain. I don't know that I can trust his judgment. MSNBC,

Can you please provide more information about Gov Palin's relationship with the Alaska Independence Party and her beliefs on their agenda.  The AIP wants to secede from the US.  Palin was (is?) a member of the AIP in the 90s and attended at least one conference.  She has addressed the AIP as recently as this year.

In their conferences they talk about Palin being "their candidate" and "sympathetic to their cause."  They also talk about the need to "infiltrate both parties to further their agenda."  The co-founder of the AIP has said, "I'm an Alaskan, not an American.  I want no part of America or her damned institutions."

I won't get to ask the candidates any questions because my voice isn't important important or loud enough for them to hear.

I'm counting on you to help provide me information about Palin's beliefs on government so I can make an informed decision.

Thank you.
Palin has said that if "one nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance was good enough for the founding fathers, it's good enough for her. Problem is, the pledge wasn't written until 1892 and "under God" was inserted into it in 1954 during the hysteria about "Godless communism."

The implications for what sort of president she'd be are pretty clear.

Joe Liebermann all condolences since Johnny didn't select you and luck to you in looking for new employment come election time. You are a lost cause and you constituents have truly seen through you this time around.

I understand there are openings for dog catchers in Conn. "Apply now"

And Good Luck
Way to take the news away from PAlin w/that bit of "astonishing" news.  It's an election, the candidates are going to raise money. SO WHAT!  Talk the issues: Sarah Palin is the worst "gut choice" by any candidate ever.  Her background needs to be public knowledge, she is shadey. She is more of the same. Wanting Alaska to be seperate from the U.S....WOW.  Talk about that, lets hear how she believes that the Iraq war was for oil, talk about that.  Her stances on eliminating stem-cell research, talk about that.  MSM media once again slanting in favor of McCain, thanks MSNBC. Now I have nowhere to turn for unbiased news.
And McCain will have an impressive September.  This choice has shown that he is a reform candidate.  The Obama supporters need to be careful going after Palin's pregnant daughter.  We all remember Obama saying he didn't want his daughters "punished with a baby".  When Palin's Grandson/or Grandaughter is born, I doubt she will be perceived as a punishment.  And we all know John McCain knew what he was doing when he picked Sarah.  So try as you might media to make it look like a fly by night choice.....it won't work.  She is a great choice and you will see after this week how great!  Former Hillary supporter from St. Louis.

Sarah Palin on Evolution Creationism

Well, it seems McCain has further embraced an anti-science agenda with his pick as Sarah Palin as his running mate.

The Science Bloggers are a bit up in arms over this. I think there is some hope that she/McCain will drift back to the middle on this at some point but they both now seem to fall in the camp of the Intelligent
Design supporters. It is the "independent" streak both do seem to show occasionally that gives me hope that if they do get elected, they will not be as tied to the ID supporters as they will be during the election.

Anyway, here are some things I found on the web about Palin's evolution views:
NewMiner.Com: in response to written questions in a 2002 election ...

Q:
The education section of the Republican Party of Alaska’s platform states “We support giving Creation Science equal representation with other theories of the origin of life. If evolution is taught, it should
be presented as only a theory.” Do you support this position? Why?

A:
I support this plank in the Republican Party’s platform. I believe society can have healthy debates on scientific theories, so equal representation of creation and evolution shouldn’t be an offense.Anchorage Daily News in 2006 reported

The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin
said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms.

Palin was answering a question from
the moderator near the conclusion of Wednesday night's televised debate on KAKM Channel 7 when she said, "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid
of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."Most other thigns I have seen are rehashing these two stories in some way. If
anyone has any other detail I would love to see it....'
How can people talk about how great Palin is when we are just starting to learn about her?  No one realy knows her, they are just going with the talking points.
If you want to know how the republicans are planning on fixing our health care system,
Please take a very LONG HARD look at how they FIXED New Orleans..........

The Legislature is investigating whether Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin's sister.
The Legislature's investigating committee disclosed the attorney's hiring on Monday. The committee released an e-mailed letter it had received from the lawyer on Friday, the day McCain announced she would be McCain's running mate.
The little-known vice presidential candidate faces accusations of firing public safety commissioner Walt Monegan in what amounts to a messy Palin family drama dating to her pre-gubernatorial days.
The accuser is blogger and rental car executive Andrew Halcro, a Republican-turned-Independent who lost to Palin in the 2006 governor's race.
The accused is Palin, the rising Republican star with a clean-hands reputation who has the most to lose.
The man in the middle is Monegan, who says Palin never told him to fire the trooper, but he felt pressure to do so from members of her administration.
Then there's trooper Mike Wooten, who used a Taser on his stepson, Palin's nephew Payton. Wooten has been reprimanded for violating nearly a dozen laws and departmental policies since December 2001.
It's now in the hands of a state-hired investigator working for a Republican-dominated legislative committee that hopes to sort out the mess.
Palin steadfastly denies the allegations, and with her signature resolve, said she welcomes the investigation. "Hold me accountable," she challenge her critics.
With Palin now in the national spotlight as McCain's choice as running mate, the investigation could get more attention than the federal corruption probes involving Republican Sen. Ted Stevens and others that already is besetting this state.
"With this appointment, you've given an obscure investigation more national limelight than any grand jury," said Democratic consultant Dane Strother. "Think about it, if they come down on her, what is McCain going to do?"
McCain's campaign says it's not worried about the investigation. "The bottom line is Governor Palin has a proven record championing transparency in government and we are confident in that record," said McCain spokeswoman Maria Comella.
Monegan was fired in July, after he declined a transfer to become the director to the state's alcohol control board.
At the time Palin said she wanted the department to move in a new direction. But later, after Monegan said he felt pressured to fire Wooten, Palin at a news conference said Monegan wasn't a team player, didn't do enough to fill trooper vacancies and battle alcohol abuse issues in rural Alaska.
State lawmakers have long said they understand that Monegan and other commissioners serve at will, meaning they can be fired by Palin at any time.

The selection f Pailin will come to haunt McCain. It is clear that she had not been properly vetted. Setting aside her daughter's pregnancy and how that undermines the "family values" mantra, the earmarks, Troopergate, her DUI and other stuff yet to come out, will strike hard at the "judgment"    argument. But it more than that, as voters begin to grasp how well Obama has managed his campaign and compare that McCain, they will see that the "competence" arguement will also fall by the roadside.

In the debates, Pailin will come across poised and well spoken, but as long as Biden is focused on McCain's record, she will show that she is not ready for prime time.  She is not ready to represent America and the President on the world stage.
My feeling is that Lieberman is a perfect fit for the McCain campaign. He'll say or do anything to get elected and he'll change his position on a whim if it gets him in front of a camera. My feeling is he's holding out for a new cabinet position where he follows Geezer McCain around like a puppy dog and whispers corect answers in his ear when McCain gets befuddled. It's all anyone wants Lieberman around for anymore. Talk about the original Mr. Irrelevant.
Except that she's not a reformer Joe. She secured almost $30 million for a town of 6,700 and is asking for about $200 million in earmarks for Alaska.

She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it.

Why is the WP and NYT beating First Read to this?

http://www.rodneyhopper.com
Nez a prez with good judgment. McCain's dismal VP pick would be peanuts and shells compared to the blunders on the international stage. Bad temperament. Bad judgment. No way! No How! No McCain!
Lieberman, who talked a little of being vetted and talking to lawyers, said as of Thursday, he still didn't know if he would be picked. He said McCain called him Thursday night and didn't explicitly tell him it wasn't him, but he could read the "tea leaves." He heard Friday morning that it was Palin.
**************************************************
This is McCain being a Maverick............sounds more like a coward......McCain just stabbed Joe in the back.  Do you think Palin knows the answers to whisper to McCain.
I feel so sorry for Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol.

The whole world now knows she's pregnant and will be marrying the young father.  This is nobodys business, it is a private family matter.

However, it begs the question, what mother would do this to a young child?   How could she accept this job offer, knowing full well her daughter's privacy would be so invaded.  Has blind ambition dulled her duty to protect her 17yr old daughter?  What kind of person is she really.

Also, did anyone think of the young man, the father of the child, having his life turned inside out for political ambitions.

This grave flaw in Sarah Palin's character needs to be considered by anyone who is thinking of supporting the McCain/Palin ticket.  She has a very good chance of becoming POTUS considering his health and age.  Ideaology aside,  is she ready as Joe Biden is?
Lieberman is always on the loser's side. (Gore, Kerry and now McCain). His swing from being the Democratic VP candidate in 2000 to praising Palin, who is a very conservative Republican, as a Republican VP candidate in 2008 is a full left to right swing. Great job Joe. We'd like to see you on Fox TV soon.
Gotta say, there's absolutely nothing impressive about John McCain.
I am not understanding this Palin pick and contrary to belief in looking at Kay hutchison's face; she was pissed and I don't blame her.  This is about qualifications and Palin is not ready to lead this nation in case McCain kicks the bucket.

We have had one president abuse the power given to him and Palin will do the same.  She went as far as using her seat To get this guy fired.  This is a her word against his and where is the sister in all this?  This is crap and Palin needs to go back to that bridge she was for before she was against it AND GET HER ACT TOGETHER.

This is hog wash and I don't see how the republicans go through with this.  I am sure in a few weeks she will be stepping down.  We have gone through a rigourous primary and here comes this woman who know one knows and she will lead us...I DON'T THINK SO!

The republicans are nothing but hypocrites...we don't know Obama, we don't know his family...we don't know.blah, blah, blah. Well we know more about Obama than we do this woman and as a woman I am more appalled and she is NO HILLARY CLINTON!
I can't wait for Lieberman to get "kicked to the curb" by the Democrats in Congress.  The people will demand it and they better not put the good will they have built up on the line for this pandering opportunist.  He thought he was going to get selected as McCain's VP.  For that reason alone, he has been going around bashing Obama. I am delighted that McCain dumped him for the good of the Repugs.
Joe Scarborough may be "in the tank" for Palin, as he said this morning.  But guess what, the majority of Americans think it's laughable that McCain would pick this obviously unqualified, marginally educated woman to be VP, one heartbeat away from the Presidency.  It is the most absurd pick he could have made and in doing so he deminished his own credibility. HOORAY!
Fuzzy Judgement Mccain, how Ironic? your VP once belonged to the Alaska Independent Party(Seccessionist Group), which advocates an Independent Alaska from the Union. Alaska First(LOL)
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/members-of-frin.html
Given Lieberman's strong support for McCain, he came as close as he could to telling the truth, when he said "I don't know." in response to whether Palin would have been chosen if she was male.

Anyone who thinks that a male Palin would be picked is in complete denial. McCain's "Hail Mary" choice of Palin reflects poorly on his judgment. Both Obama and McCain repeatedly acknowledged their choice for Vice President was the most important decision they'd make as candidates. Both vowed to select the most qualified running mate, who was ready to be President.

Whether Palin's qualified to be VP is a matter of opinion, however no one would seriously argue Palin's the most qualified man or women within the Republican party, and when McCain surrogates are asked if she is ready to be President, they respond that she's running as VP not President. This of course ignores the fact McCain's 72 has had 4 bouts with cancer, and 1/6 VP have become President with the death of the President.

The candidate's selection of running mates provides valuable insight into their judgment. Obama conducted a thoughtful and deliberate process to fulfill his promise to pick the most qualified running mate. In contrast for months McCain used the selection process as a means to gain media attention through false leaks of an eminent announcement.

In the end McCain selected Palin, a Governor for less than two years, who McCain met only once in person, and talked to just once on the phone, prior to meeting with and asking Palin to be his running mate on 8/28/08. McCain’s advisors explain McCain made a gut decision in selecting Palin. Bush makes far too many decisions from the gut, the last thing the country needs is another President who makes decisions from the gut, and not through thoughtful deliberation.

Palin may have what it takes to be a heart beat away from the Presidency, however McCain's limited interaction with Palin prior to selecting her raises serious questions about McCain’s judgment.

Doesn't McBush have to give that money back after the convention?
http://twocanpete.blogspot.com/
These rich dummies are pouring thier money down an Alaskan rat-hole! Stop by learn about the latest Palin scandal.
From how many individual donors?  I would bet that big oil and lobbyists are a good portion of that haul...
Humm....let's see, Obama raises 50 million or so per month on his own, and here the media reports the combined fundraising efforts of McCain and the RNC, as John McCain's monthly fundraising total.  Things that make you go humm.  Is this another one of media's efforts at making this race seem closer than it really is?  November will definitely be a shocker to all.
I loved the look on James Carville's face when a Palin surrogate on the King show accused him of not supporting Palin because she's a woman. "I have already supported a woman to be President." he replied, stonily. And I liked when he countered her praise of Palin not aborting her fetus "I have five pro-life sisters, they would have made the same decision." I'm glad someone has made that point.
Lets do the math.Johnny McCain is in constent fundraiser mode,he does two or three a day, lets say he brings a million a stop, maybe a little less at some, maybe a little more at others.See the repubs havent quite caught on to how Obama has used the net,and its fundraisering ability. That way you can go out and talk about issues and don't have to have your hand out every time you speck. So a couple million a day times 20 days gets you to 40 million a month grab a few million from lobbist and Big oil and yoou get your number.Read today that the Republican officals in Alaska were not contacted for the vetting for Mrs.Palin, not one offical in the state .or the business commuity, not even the new mayor in the town she was mayor.Seems that the Obama Speech thur the bomber into a tail spin, and they went into a panic mode.More bad judgement or just didn't care about checking this person out, more interested in the news cycle? Now the plane is starting to fill with reports of investagations of abuse of power, teenage daughter pregnent,27 million in earmarks for a town of 9000,fovored the money for the bridge to nowhere.Liebermen says"John was considering people with great records, but wanted to pick someone differant"well if you mean the Vice Pres and her daughter giving birth in the same year, that is a little differant.
Agree with Liebermann; McCain is the REAL change candidate.  Obama promised that but because of his many weaknesses had to pick a VP, which has been in Washington FAR too long, to prop up his weaknesses.
McCain, on the other hand, has chosen a VP who has a proven record of CHANGE.

On this blog, it has been repeatedly said, re Obama's lack of experience, that experience doesn't matter. Now, all of a sudden, folks here are saying the #2 person on the republican ticket should have more experience than the #1 on the dem ticket.  Pretty hypocritical, wouldn't you say?

I look at it like this.  Obama needs to propped up by Biden.  If something happened to McCain, Palin could be "propped" up just as well in case of emergency. Compare to Obama who is being "propped us" already BEFORE HE IS PRESIDENT.
