Obama camp reaction to Palin's speech

From NBC's Mark Murray
“The speech that Gov. Palin gave was well delivered, but it was written by George Bush’s speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. "If Gov. Palin and John McCain want to define ‘change’ as voting with George Bush 90% of the time, that’s their choice, but we don’t think the American people are ready to take a 10% chance on change."

The Obama camp is more generous than I am. I think her voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard, so "well delivered" is not exactly the modifier I'd use.

She can preach to her choir, but she still has the rest of America to try and convince.

This mama ain't buying what she's trying to sell.
I guess it is OK for McCain and especially Palin to insult and disrespect Obama BUT when anyone including the press critizes Palin then it is a disgrace, sexism and wrong.
What is up with this DOUBLE STANDARD the republicans are handing the American people.  Do they really expect us to buy this "trash" they are talking.  To me the Republican candidates are clearly showing all they can do is TALK TRASH - no issues just trash and whin.

Go Obama/Biden
There was no substance in that speech, nothing that answers the (many!) questions about whether she is ready to be President of the United States. She does a great job of mocking Obama, but her snarky, sarcastic tone (echoed also by Romney and Guiliani) may backfire among independents and moderates.
Just what we need after 8 yrs of Bush, when our global neighbors aren't very sure of us and our country needs to stand together in a bipartisan manner...A Pit Bull with Lipstick!!!
Both Rudy Guiliani and Sarah Palin's speeches were marked by their sarcasm.  When you have to resort to sarcasm, again and again, to make your point, you expose the weakness of your own position.  Sarah proved that she can read a teleprompter and make a speech, but she didn't prove that she is qualified to be a heartbeat from the Presidency.

No reaction needed. After the National Enquirer dumps the goods on Palin tommorow she'll be dropping out of the race to 'spend more time' with her family.
I concur with that!! The speech was heated and contained nothing but divisive and mean rhetoric. She (the writers of the speech) is trying to turn this into an us against them election when Obama's camp is trying to turn this into an American election, anyone who REALLY cares about this country will be on the Obama bandwagon. McCain has allowed any common sense he posessed in 2000 to be overtaken by his campaign. This Palin pick is sad and scary. To think this person will be in charge of our country if John McCain can't perform... People need to think rationally. Yes, she gave a GREAT speech, but as EVERYONE has been saying about Obama in the media, a speech is not enough. Obama has had to more than earn the little respect he gets from the country and the media. Don't be hypocrites now.
After watching the RNC tonight, I'm physically ill.  I can't believe people believe the lies they tell.  We have to turn this country Blue in November!

Obama/Biden 08
Sarah Palin: Well, Isn't that special.

Please tell me we aren't going to elect the Church Lady (SNL) to be VP.
This is the same kind of defense they have for any criticism of Obama. This speech that Palin gave was personal to her own life, to her own record, and to what she has believed in her own career. Obama's campaign is desperate. They find any possible opportunity to mislead Americans and link McCain-Palin to Bush. Its because they can't run against McCain-Palin. They can only run against an outgoing President who doesn't have to defend himself.

I am a woman in my 50’s.

I heard No Policy…

What a Negative woman...  Wow...  She does not have the right to criticize Mr. Obama like that.

He has been in this fight for 18 months and she has been in it for less than a week, didn’t know anything before then.

She needs to be on top of a tank.  Let’s send her to Iraq instead of her son.

Too negative & scary for my vote.
AMEN to Obama's Response.  This was viseral, hateful and nothign new.  She spent more time disrespectingwith ahtred and lies than she did explaining why she is qualified. She stood up to her own party, must have stopped at teh state line cause she is falling in line now.
Woooo Sarah Hit it out of the Park, Congrats Sarah Palin, Youll be a great Vice President., Or President for that matter.  If you want to learn more about Sarah Palin or her Back Ground they have alot of Background Info, Pics, Videos, about Sarah and her Family. http://www.veeppeek.com

The Obama camp had better react and react quickly, and toughly. This woman is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode on the American people. She is dangerous and an extremist in the eyes of many people.

We can not really afford to get into WW III, and that seems to be in the cards if this pair gets a chance.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MUCH DISRESPECT IN MY LIFE TOURS A CANDIDATE. I HOPE DEMOCRATS DON'T SEE HER AS A WOMAN, BUT AS A POLITICAL RIVAL. SHE WANTS TO PLAY  HARDBALL, SO LET'S PLAY AND SEE WHO WINS THE AMERICAN VOTES, THE LIES AMONG THEIR PARTY OR THE TRUTH AMONG REAL LEADERS. GO OBAMA/BIDEN
Palin put me to sleep. Same-O Same-O. Nothing new here.
Reading is fundamental and she reads very well, but it still doesn't hide the fact that she is not ready to be VP, let alone run our government.

She can attack, but I don't want to hear crap about sexism after tonight...I say game on!

One thing she is not; is mother of the year!
Why are people saying this was a good speech? It had 0 energy a bunch of stutters and then power of soccer mom rallying her 5 year old's team for Orange slices. Give me a break!
The McCain campaign dropped the ball on the speechwriter link to Bush.  It was a pre-manufactured speech that had to be tailored to Palin upon her sudden selection.

Obama 297, McCain 241

Palin is an empty shell. Pretty! But empty. That speech was sad, shallow, mean, plastic, useless for helping the Nation.

Supported the bridge to no where, before she was against it.
Sarah Palin defined herself well.  She is McCain's bulldog!  I think she is very dangerous to American values everywhere!  Please vote OBAMA!!!
Quite a stark contrast between the uplifting positive and forward looking Democrat Convention and the hate filled, spitefull and condescending GOP effort.  Also, odd that we heard actual plans and solutions from the DNC and soundbites and narratives from the GOP (POW, POW, 911, 911....meh)

Very lame GOP, very lame.
Partisan and divisive is right.  Were they aware that some independents were actually watching?
Palin's speech was well received in the hall, but I believe that it came across on TV as someone trying too hard to be homey and cute and instead sounding condescendingly smug and arrogant. Not good.
Well, it was a well written political speech, and it was delivered well. McCain's speech writers are as good as any others.   But you know, when you act like an attack dog, cheapshots and familial attacks included, please now don't complain about when you and yours get attacked.  You can't have it both ways.

Sarah, stand by for incoming.  You have invited it. Lets put it another way.  When you decide to get in the mud and play with the pigs, then two things happen.  You get dirty, and the pigs are happy.
Clearly plays to the base, but will venom and hate play to REAL soccer and hockey moms... not the ones I know
Now, that's what Change looks like Obama!! It's about 5 foot 3 with a smile!! Hope you were paying attention!!
Uh huh, a pit bull with lipstick.........what an insult to pitbulls everywhere.
McSame/Palin, more of the same!  We can not risk the same policies as the last 8 years!
This woman has NO business in the position she has been placed in...it is an INSULT to the women in this country who have worked so hard to be LEGITIMATELY recognized, ie, Hillary Clinton.   If I hear the word "SEXISM" uttered one more time, I will vomit.  The american people, and specifically, american women, are not as DUMB as the republicans are assuming. Sarah Palin is no more than a dummy being handled by the ventriloquist Carl Rove and company...swiftboating 2008 style...not this time, boys!
lol at the response- They are picking on us.  Lol How many times did Obama vote with Bush I think it was in the 80's  that is just the nature of senate politics.  We have different opinions on what this country needs they would like us to think just like them but it isn't going to happen.  Go Sarah Go!
Obama has no response. The truth was packaged up and delivered by a strong young woman from Alaska.
"Pitbull in Lipstick" is right.  She was downright mean and angry (remember when Michelle was the 'angry woman'?  Though she read her prepared speech well, the attack on Obama was out of line and now he no longer needs to use kid gloves.  The remarks about lobbyists and earmarks were just pure lies, according to her own record.  No way, No how, No McPitbull
Lol.. that speech was not even written by her... who can take her seriously??
That speech churned my stomach.  All of that mockery and lying, and scare tactic usage really makes me sad.  I hope people can see through all this and start focusing on building up the country instead of tearing down the people trying to change it.
I knew the verbage sounded familiar..Truthfully,that not the impressive speech the media pundits were promising us. Shetalked to the american people like we are 5 year olds and she seemed fake and forced.
I heard her speech and she sounded just like a puppet with McCain pulling the strings.  Her speech was boring with several punch lines that had already been said by McCain and other republicans.  Now she can revert back to her little hole where she has been hiding from the media the last few days.  Oh yea I forgot....make sure your boyfriend hold your hand when you walk on stage so that we will seem like we're the all American family.  Give me a freakin break!
you need a stronger attack. say how divisive and nasty they are. how dare they question democrats patriotism? the repbulicans are vile. we want change not division.
Can't Obama get off the George Bush rhetoric? Not even for one night? Just like you Barack, it's getting old and boring. Didn't you have some Community Organizing to do tonight anyway?
Palin has a style that is extremely divisive... she's even more divisive than George Bush.  The Republicans made a red meat appeal to the most extreme elements in our society.  It wasn't an uplifting or inspiring AT ALL.
Obama needs to put up a fight in a way where the publincans are whining about sexism.  she is perfectly capable of handling herself.  Come on Obama!!
Mock the opponent. Laugh at the contributions of community organizers. Chant Nada, Zero, and Drill Baby Drill. Is this the Republican strategy for change? The Republicans were as devisive as ever.  Now I know how the Alaskan polar bears feel.
I was amazed at the many misstatements that Palin made in her speech.

It was quite unprofessional. Her speechwriter obviously fed her a lot of the usual McCain lies.

All I have to say to this is WOW!!! Palin's speech tonight is going to be something that invigorates the conservative base. However, it is the same fear-mongering that the Republicans have used in the last eight years. As a democrat, she has also motivated me to save the country from McCain and Palin and do what I can to get the change I crave. Her speech, this convention and Republican party as a whole have outlined what they intend to do with the country. I don't know about the rest of my Democrat brothers and sisters but I'm scared of these people and where they are trying to take us.
Palin did her job- she's playing attack dog and she did a good job preaching to the choir.  But... she's not winning over any undecided voters that way.

A nastier, more condescending speech could not have been written.  Palin is full of snarkiness and smugness.

We don't need anymore of that in Washington.  It's this type of politics that needs to end.
Still no substance.  They have only nasty comments about everyone

Keep going Obama
Palin's speech had strong delivery, but it was mean spirited and many points were wrong.  The prospect of a fundamentalist a heartbeat away from the presidency is anathema.  Look at all the damage they've done to us all in the last 8 years.  No more! No way!
The insult to every day Americans who volunteer at community centers was an especially sarcastic touch.

THE BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLICANS

It’s McCain and not Obama who shall never call retreat.
It’s McCain and not Obama who can man the judgment seat.
It’s McCain’s and not Obama’s surge that saved us from defeat.
We’ll cast our votes for John.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
We’ll cast our votes for John.

It’s McCain and not Obama who has served across the sea.
It’s McCain and not Obama who has fought for you and me.
It’s McCain and not Obama who can keep free nations free.
We’ll cast our votes for John.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
