Although a formality, his home state of Arizona just put him over the top to clinch the Republican Party's presidential nomination.

While Democrats offer Bridge to a better economic future, Palin offers Bridge to nowhere.
I am a Masters educated, married, city living individual, who is also a registered Democrat. I am finally voting Republican for the first time in my life because McCain and Palin relate more directly to me and my family. Plain and simple. I have become so sick and tired of a media elite that can't see beyond the limos and skyscrapers.
Time for real change, time to break up the elite.
Yes the worm has turned big time.

A powerful speech by Sarah Palin puts the less experienced Obama in his place. Absolutely riveting.
Her remarks were direct and to the point, revealing Barack for what he really is and not even using the term Reverend Wright.

Ed Sullivan would have called it a "really big show."
I would compare it to "the shot heard around the world." And yes, she talked about the economy too.
The "pitbull with lipstick" remark brought the house down. No matter what the result of this election, Sarah Palin will be a show a force for the Republican Party for years.
Ah, good.  So now the media can remind everyone that this reformer was a member of the Keating 5. Then they can inform people that before Governor Palin was AGAINST the 'Bridge to Nowhere', she was for it and that even after it was cancelled she kept the money in Alaska.

What?  They won't?  I guess we'll just have to hope someone leaves a mic on...
McCain is no more than another George Bush, which means trouble for this country's future. This country suffers from a high deficit, a troubled  economy, and an ongoing war thanks to Bush and now McCain wants the country to continue in the same direction--down.
McCain and Palin, together after a high-powered extroadinary speech given by her at the RNC in St. Paul, reminds me of the Toby Keith song that really kicked him into high gear .... "How Do You Like Me Now?"
McCain will not discuss the real issues and neither will Palin because she is not well-equipped enough to discuss such issues as Obama and Biden. I cannot wait for the debates and the Mrs. Palin and Senator McCain with his "senior moments" will embarrass themselves and not be prepared at all on sending our children to college, alternative energy sources and creating American jobs in the United States like OBama and Biden who should be our next President and Vice-President. We have Bush to blame for all of our country's troubles just like McCain and Palin who were endorsed by Bush and McCain agreed with Bush on 90% of all issues.
Did anyone find Juliuliuliuliani's speech and that other woman's teleprompter reading insulting last nite? I now know that there were nothing but elitist Republicans at that convention last nite. The fact that they laughed and joked about Obama being a community organizer who worked with inner city people and provided job training for people out of work is tactless. What about the comment that issues confronting common American's in everyday life aren't what matters in this election, like the economy, but protecting America against terrorist attacks with military might is #1. That's all they have to stand on is McCain's military service. You also need to go to Yahoo's website and look what they found in all the speeches last nite. They did a pretty thourough fact check.....found some very interesting things. Most of the attacks against Obama last nite remind me of the whole WMD trick Bush pulled concerning Iraq...most of last nite was very misleading. And I expect MSNBC to do more fact checking on the contents of all the speeches last nite in obligation to their job.
I for one asn arizonian, do not endorse the nomination
of John Mccain, he ascribes an obsolete philosophy
Ie. the Teddy Roosevelt, Gunfighter mentality.
He will trample the Constitution when he stacks the Supreme Court, allowing his brand of high court decisions, dangerously upsettig the design envisioned by the framers of the Constitution to allow the Judiciary to watch over the other two branches.
Courts will be under the thumb of the executive branch in his power hungry system.
Gunfighter mentality has pervaded our emergence
from isolationism. The ideal used to be swiss neutrality, now we have Mccain and a modern version
of Imperialism, in which the republicans want to control the oil of foreign countries and have borrowed from China and others to pay for the war.
Also Mc cain is still a POW, the more people talk about this the more his psyche reurns to those
memories, pushing him ever closer to the blow up
either an attack  out of character against a fellow human being or another country.
I was unable to see all this so clearly until I saw the plan of the republicans to control the Veto power
as Sarah Palin threatened in her speech.
If the republicans control Veto, our country will become divided and no single piece of legislation is safe.
A pathetic and peevish speech.  If the GOP is filled with this much hate, how can they possible bring a positive direction to the country?
I am the mother of two sons.  I vote for candidates, not party.  I have voted for Republicans, Democrats and Independents.  After listening to the RNC, all I hear is nastiness, lies about their records (do they think people don't read?), lies about their opponents.  No word about what they will do to pull the country out of our economic crises (apparently they intend to deny it exists), what they will do about healthcare, what they will do about foreign issues (except bluster and threats), nothing about any accomplishments of the last 8 years.  This Independent Mom is voting for Obama/Biden this year.  Thank you, Sarah Palin, for making the choice so clear.
She can deliver a speech - no one can argue that.

It's the content of the speech that counts, and this woman is clearly on a power trip.

Several of her best lines were 'unfactual', to put it nicely...  Fear, more fear, and even more fear...

I'd say the gloves just came off for the VP Debate!  Now, that will be a show...
Did anyone notice the awkwardness of the relationship between John McCain and Sara Palin?  Just the body language speaks volumes. Those two have barely been introduced. Yes, she can deliver a speech written for her very well. But with a 4-5 month old special needs new born, and a 17 year old daughter that is 5 months pregnant, I don't see how she can also assume the VP position and be an adequate mother at the same time. I'm a mom and I know that something is going to suffer, and it's Sara's family.... So much for family values. John McCain really blew it with this pic. His first real executive decision and he messed up big time.
What is there for the Obama/Biden camp to re-act to. She stepped all over them with both heels.
She is a  pedestrian speaker at best. Her voice grating and the speech offered not solutions to improve the quality of life for working people.  Once again, she used her children as props!
The republican's themselves said this campaign is not about issues - I am guessing that is why they don't talk about them - that and the fact they know they are on the other side of the issues from most of the country
May I remind the Republicans that the election is a race, not a war. The constant attack mode of McCain and the pitbull mentality of his new "celebrity," Palin, only serve to widen the divide that already exists in our nation.
OMG, if I hear another POW story I think I'm going to scream. That's all McCain's got going for him and it doesn't qualify you for being the next POTUS.

Obama/Biden '08/'12
Palin's speech?

The chief speechwriter on this address is Matthew Scully, who is one of McCain's speechwriters and also wrote for President Bush.      Enough said.

WHAT exactly do you know today about Sarah Palin that you didn't know yesterday? Nothing. These weren't even her words or ideas for that matter.
So, through Palin speech we now know what Matthew Scully's view points are, but not Palins. Instead of attacks, I wanted to hear WHY Sarah Palin thinks she should be on the ticket as VP. What makes her qualified? What are her policies going to be on the economy? The war? Energy? I still don't know today.

And on the charge of sexism: Why do reporters keep introducing her as "A mother of 5"? Do they introduce Barack Obama as "A father of 2"? No, they do not. If she wants to play in the big league, then she should be treated like it. Drop the "hockey Mom" crap and act like the politician she thinks she is. This woman is nothing but an "empty suit" as the Reukes like to refer to Obama. I saw no substance whatsoever in the speech. I just saw an angry hockey Mom that is NOT qualified to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. I'm assuming she did little to convince the majority of woman that they should vote for McCain. All one has to do is look at McCain voting record on woman's issues. He votes AGAINST them 100% of the time. If woman are fooled by this Pit Bull with Lipstick, then they are ignorant to begin with.   Obama/Biden '08!
It's a sad day when the only thing I pulled away from Palin's speech last night was sarcasm.  I believe Olbermann said it right, Delores Umbridge (Harry Potter).  She doesn't know Obama very well, and she doesn't seem to have been following things like the war, or much in terms of other policy...I think she should not throw stones.  For someone who claims to follow "God" her actions say something completely different.  She came across too sarcastic and somewhat manipulative, and boasted about her ebay sale. She comes across as revengeful. She doesn't know a thing about policy and I can't wait till someone asks her about some of her other beliefs like abortion and foreign policy.  I even tried to see how I'd feel with her acting the same way and delivering the speech in the same way if she were Obama's running mate, but I am still left feeling very ill, and I probably wouldn't vote for Obama then, because I'd have to seriously question his judgement.  I heard a lot of war crap again last night.  I do tire of the whiney group of republicans who have no problem when people scrutinize Obama, but when we look into Palin, it's a catastropy and how dare you attitude.  I don't find Palin relateable, and keep in mind again, "she's not running for president." McCain is, but their ideas still have to be passed by congress.  I'd like to hear more about these earmarks that McCain slammed her for back in 2001, but now after 1 day of meeting her, by all means, she should be the VP pick.  Is it just me, or does anyone else get that feeling in the pit of your stomach that she's just bad news?
Bravo, Sarah.  Your poise and confidence shined through like the morning sun.  Thank you, for letting people know that you don't believe in the "powers that be" having all the frills that none of us could ever dream of and for being practical in your approaches to reform.  In addition to mentioning sell the jet on ebay, I wish you had also mentioned getting rid of the governor's yacht.  You talked about not only balancing a budget but having a surplus and while doing that cut taxes by 15%! It is clear you have a strong grip on energy issues, which is critical. People are correct that your weakness is in foreign policy (no weaker than Obama's tho).  But, what you have so skillfully done in two years makes me confident that you can master the issues quickly.  REading people here saying you were "snarky", "mean".  How soon they forget all the zingers that Biden and Obama threw out at McCain last Thurs; they were pretty insulting.  Thank you, Sarah, for a being a strong, smart woman who can hold her own in any circumstance. Had most people faced what you have for the five days, I doubt they could have even shown their face much less "knock it out of the park."

McCain-Palin
Sarcasm WITHOUT SUBSTANCE
If you like a ferocious pitbull (with lipstick) biting, snarling, growling, and barking out personal attacks and insults--SHE'S YOUR GAL!
Thanks BUT NO THANKS!
I worked in a mental instituion for many many year and both McCain and Palin are both examples of the patients I took care of. ANGRY ANGRY & self distructive. SCARY
A pitbull in the White House???!!!!! (With lipstick??)
In more and more communities, when found, they're humanely put-down...for GOOD REASON.
God says to stay away from angry men, which applies to women as well. (warmongering)
