Obama raises $8 M since Palin speech

Posted: Thursday, September 04, 2008 5:35 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
The Obama campaign confirms to First Read that it has raised $8 million from more than 130,000 donors since Sarah Palin's speech last night -- and that it's on pace to raise a total of $10 million by the time McCain speaks.

"Sarah Palin's attacks have rallied our supporters in ways we never expected," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. "And we fully expect John McCain's attacks tonight to help us make our grassroots organization even stronger."

*** UPDATE *** The Wall Street Journal, meanwhile, is reporting that the RNC raised $1 million after Palin's speech.

*** UPDATE II *** The Obama camp now says that it has crossed the $10 million mark.
"I hope she gives a speech every day until the election," Burton says.

Excellent!  I made my contribution early this morning.  The only way we have to show our disapproval of that woman's lies and snottiness is with our checkbooks.  I challenge all Obama supporters, and all of you who were offended by her "speech" to give what you can.

The only thing the Republicans understand is not getting money.
I guess that's what community organizers will do for you huh!!! I cannot believe the GOP would mock and belittle hardworking folk...I guess they can because they are not working for the people.
Just wait until the polls come out...those silly Republicans will see a significant drop in those stating they will vote for McCain.

I'll be looking for anyone arguing with this post to admit they were wrong once those polls arrive next week.
.
FOX'S "FAIR & BALANCED" MOTTO IS BULLCRAP.
BILL O'REILLY IS INTERVIEWING OBAMA ON THE RNC'S BIG NIGHT. ... THAT IS SLEEZEY.

MEMORABLE WORDS OF JOHN MCCAIN:
"I WOULD RATHER LOSE AN ELECTION, THAN LOSE A WAR."

Words NEVER EVER to be heard from Bill O'Reilly & Roger Ailes:
"FOX WOULD RATHER LOSE AN OBAMA INTERVIEW THAN LOSE ITS FAIR & BALANCED INTEGRITY."

When the O'Reilly shows comes on this evening — turn off FOX and turn on CNN or MSNBC.

It is a matter of fairness; John McCain did not intrude on Obama's Night at the DNC.

8 mil in not even 24 hours? Jeezus.  Can this be incorrect?
Ka-Ching!

I'm sure my contribution was in that total!

Fired Up!  Ready to Gush!
well, there goes Rush L.'s theory that the well had run dry for Barack...  i can only hope that Rush's conservative vs. the enemy war goes as well as that theory.

divisive politics, fear and smear, and lies lies lies will no longer hold back our country.

This just means there will more people on welfare.
Yeah, and the New York Yankees have the BIGGEST PLAYER PAYROLL in baseball --- but they will not make the playoffs this season --- and certainly will NOT WILL THE WORLD SERIES.
$100 of that is mine and there will be plenty more where that came from.

It's not a tough call to donate to Obama.  Do I want a President like Obama that will give tax cuts to middle class Americans like myself?  Or, do I want to continue down our current road with the McCain double-talk express, where only the rich reap the rewards of tax cuts?
Here comes my $50!
Haha. Everytime they open their mouths Obama gets $100,000!!! Keep on talking trash GOP!!
Yeah. I went in intrigued by the thought of a small town girl in the white house. Her speech made me vomit in my mouth. She has zero credibility until she answers a single question from anybody about her record or stances on the issues! And she has the gall to tear down her opponent with personal attacks instead talking about herself? Congratulations on repeating/reading republican talking points in a loud voice. Also knowledge of oil production is not knowledge of energy! Give me a break.
Thats right Dems Not now not this time! We can't afford more of George Bush or the Republicans!!
Obama supporters saw the grim reality of the race and that Palin is the real deal. More money isn't going to make a difference Obamaites. Palin has taken the country by storm, and sending more money to Obama isn't going to help.
8 Million is less then 24 hours is unreal. WOW!!!!

Obama/Biden '08
The Repub party clearly can’t see past tonight. What in Sam Hell did they think would happen after last nights assault? The Dems would roll over?

Same OLD politics.

Snakes posing as a Maverick and Lipsick wearing Pitbull.
He can count on about $50 from me after last night.  I've never given to a political campagin before (Democrat or Republican), but after hearing the venomous speeches coming from the RNC and comparing them to the DNC speeches, it's clear that the RNC is more interested in pleasing it's "base" than the people of America.  They still insist on the "with us or with the enemy" politics that have poisoned this country since 9/11.  It's time for us to finally move on from this.

Obama/Biden '08!
Money would have been put to better use if you used it for toliet paper liberals. VP Palin. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
The Dems haven't had anything to get excited about since the primaries ended.  It was a let down for both Obama and Clinton supporters.  Clinton didn't win, and Obama didn't win strong.

So now they have something going for them again.  Thanks to McCain and Palin.  I expect another $10 tonight after the McCain speech.
If Palin can say our troops in Iraq are doing Gods work, I can safely say that last night, I saw the face of the Devil.

Obama/Biden
i bet $100 she(palin) will not make to november.

The scared money is all heading for Obama. One listen to that screech and they're logging on to Obama.com!
I helped out this morning! Sent my $$ in to Obama. Gotta fight the lies the Rethugs throw out there.
I was one of those 130,000 people. I have never given money before, but after seeing the lies and same old Republican nonsense, I could not sit by and let them get away with it...the result? $500 I cannot afford to Obama.
I myself gave another $100 after hearing Sarah Palin's speech last night.  I've had enough of constant, sarcastic & personal attacks.  Where is the talk about the issue that really matter to American families - health care, education, the environment & the economy.

Sarah Palin did mention taxes but only to trot out the same old fear tactic of saying Obama will raise your taxes.  Sure if you make over 250,000.  Time and time again he has said he would lower taxes on the middle class.  It's time for Americans to wake up & quit falling for that line.

By the way - Sarah Palin says she lowered property taxes.  True, but she fails to mention that she raised the sales tax even on food items.

Unfortunately, last night Sarah Palin showed that she is no different than the other pit bulls in Washington, only that she wears lipstick.  I've had enough of watching politicians fight.  I want real change and real things accomplished.
Damn right! I was one of them.

This ain't 2004, we're not sitting back and taking this while some underqualified Ann Coulter clone goes on stage and makes a bunch of snide sarcastic comments and lies while providing nothing that will help American families.

It's old school Karl Rove politics pure and simple. Divide and conquer. America is sick of it. I'm sick of it. We're all sick of the negative partisanship.

Chuck wanted to call Palin the Conservative Obama. The difference, Chuck, is that Obama's entire platform is built around finding common ground with people and working together. Palin's speech was a completely partisan smear job aimed at polarizing the electorate.

Her comments last night, particularly in the case of community organizers, was shameful.

ENOUGH! Not this time!

Hey Peggy - reverse psychology doesn't work here.  Go give your money to McSame - apparently, he's going to need it.
That's funny. She raised more for the Obama campaign than for her own party.
I wonder how much Obama raised for the Red Cross last weekend?  It wasn't reported, but the Obama campaign sent out a text message request for huricane relief donations.  So refreshing that they are doing that without bragging about it.
I'm a bit concerned with the McCain/Palin energy policy (especially in regard to drilling in the ANWR).  Given the state of the environment these days I think it is important for us, as consumers to support 'green business.'  For example, http://www.simplestop.net stops your postal junk mail and benefits the environment.
That's right, if Obama takes the White House, it's because he earned it. If he loses this election, that's cause he failed to connect with the people. This Obama's race to win or lose. People who are voting for McCain, probably don't even support McCain, they're just voting AGAINST Obama. I truly believe that as people continue compare and contrast these two candidates the choice will be clear. A SLAM DUNK LANDSLIDE VICTORY FOR OBAMA! You don't believe me, look at the growing trend of poll numbers in Iowa and Minnesota!!!!
FANTASTIC!!!!  Where's my checkbook so that I can donate AGAIN today?  I'll give my right arm to keep the scandalous/corrupt/lying RepubliCONS/Republikkkans out of office.  It looks like millions of other voters feel the same way.

OBAMA/BIDEN, 2008!
And how much money has the Republican party raised since Sarah Palins speech> They do not report on that. This to me does not seem like news. That money was probably going into their coffers anyway.
I'll triple that bet ntully- I say $300 she has her ass handed to her by the pressure that she will feel while trying to defend GOP garbage truck during the debates.
Isn't that the same amount that McCain campaign said they raised after their announcement of Palin?  Which they played up to be a major announcement of how great Palin is going to be.

Still waiting for a real in-depth interview on issues with her.
So happy I can say I am one of those 130,000!

Get out there and show your supportpeople: multiple family yard sales, car washes, lemonade stands, whatever you can raise and send it in. We all have got to do this together. If you can't do physical stuff, phone bank, blog, donate, etc.

Barack is out there everyday putting his life on the line for us. Show support and register and then give him your vote on Nov 4!  We can do this!!
This election has gotten me more involved than I have ever been.  And the thought of Sarah Palin being Vice President has made me volunteer for Obama and send a donation.  I am a 43 year old mother of two with an MBA.  I was raised Republican - in fact I cannot speak to my grandmother about politics as she is a die hard Republican.  Unfortunately, the party she remembers is the one from Teddy Roosevelt - protect the environment, SPEAK SOFTLY and carry a big stick (this is the only part the current party likes), big business needs to be regulated and most of all - FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.  Mr. McCain, you are no Teddy Roosevelt - he is rolling over in his grave at what you (and others) have done to his party.  Lincoln is too.  I will NOT vote for a ticket that has a woman on it just because she is a woman.  She does NOT represent the positions of Hillary.  Please do NOT let this party win.
...."and I will turn their mockery back on them".

The Holy Scriptures
Obama spent more in August what McCain has spent in total!

Polls show they are tied with each other.

Keep sending money Obama nuts. Hope you enjoy eating macandcheese.

I sent mine!
Ok people why don't you ask yourself how McCain intends to save all the jobs the USA is losing and stop all these companys from going or threating to go to china.Neither one McCain or Obama has said a word about saving jobs.
You complain about your boss not doing his job. You notice he's only working to fatten his pockets with big oil payoffs. He fights all the time with the smaller companies instead of the bigger company that has hurt him the most . Your have not received a raise and you may lose your job because the boss is now outsourcing the jobs. You are about to lose your home. The boss has so many houses he can't count them. The company you work for has not turned a profit in years and has low approval ratings. The boss distributes a company wide memo that reads  " I really don't know much about the economy."  The boss threatens to release the pitbull on if you keep WHINING. You have put up with his bullying ways for eight long years. Finally your work contract is ending with your boss. As you think about your family's future you ask yourself  "Should I continue working for this creep or should I CHANGE employers? ".

It's that simple America. It's time for a change and YOU know it.

ANCIENT PROVERB: Don't let your pitbulls run loose with the moose on the White House lawn.
Hey Boycott,

No, McNutt didn't intrude on Obamas night.....What about that smerk and arrogant commercial he came out trying to act like the better guy and giving him praises?  After all, all week while he was posting negative after negative attack ads that made no sense.  Enough with OLD MAN YELLS AT CLOUDS...He is getting worse with his decisions...I hear that he now looks in the mirror and trys to hire the image as a body double and gets mad because he thinks that they are mocking him.  They should do a study on/about him.
I'm pitching in $50 first read... er, first thing tomorrow morning.

McSame is his own worst enemy. He's justifying that 866 out of 869 mind more and more as the campaign goes on!

Obama/Biden '08
I signed up for a reoccurring donation of $100 a month. I had to force myself to watch the RNC, but the good thing about it is that it sure energizes me to do something to promote the Obama-Biden ticket.  The social conservatives scare the heck out of me!
Just like last night, I have noticed that the Republicans on this board never have anything nice to say either.  They can't debate the issues, so they throw slurs and hatred.  Reminds me of the entire evening last night on TV.

Obama, here comes another $100 from me!!!!
I can't believe none of the analysts or pundits picked up on how much "working class Americans"  would be offended by Palin knocking "community organizers."  Don't the "elite"  media understand that in most communities that's who gets things done???
THIS DOOR MAT THAT MCCAIN FOUND IS A JOKE I LAUGH SO HARD THAT SPEECH WAS AWFUL SHE SMELL TO HIGH HEAVEN. I DONATE $150.00 AND I WILL EVERY 2 WEEKS . SEN OBAMA HAS MORE
CLASS IN HIS LITTLE FINGER THEN THAT PIECE OF TRASH .I HOPE KARL ROVE  AND HIS FRIENDS ENJOYED THEIR BLOWJOBS I HOPE CHUCK GOT HIS TOO I KNOW JOE AND PAT DID. ANDREA MITCHELL WHO KNEW SHE DID WOMEN YOU JUST NEVER KNOW.

Oh no!  This can't be!!!

More money for liberals who can't park their bicycles straight, people who don't pick their teeth in public and actually have intelligence beyond 2nd grade level (home schooling, of course)?

"A star is born!!!!"

"The new face of the Republican Party!!!!"

This "reportage" has the tone and depth I would expect if I read the Enquirer, but I don't.

You folks have really embarrassed yourself this time.

Pathetic.
