First thoughts: A missed opportunity?

ST. PAUL, MN -- Last night, John McCain wrapped up the final night of a two-week convention and VP rollout blitz as we now head into the 60-day sprint until Election Day. But McCain's speech seemed to be a missed opportunity. It appears the campaign decided it simply needed to get through it -- there wasn't anything new, except a longer description of his POW days. Perhaps Sarah Palin is new enough, and last night's speech was about reassurance. McCain used the word fight (or a variation of it) some 25 times, change 10 times, and experience just three. So by the numbers, McCain was trying to send the message that he was a fighting-warrior-for-change candidate that has enough experience to make it happen. That was the goal, but we'll know in a few days if that message was received. The number to look for in the polls isn't the head-to-head; it'll be whether the percentage of voters who believe McCain will follow Bush's policies closely has actually dropped.

VIDEO: NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd weighs in on John McCain's nomination acceptance speech and looks at the road ahead for the campaign.

*** It was Palin's convention: If the McCain camp was counting on one speech to move the ball forward, it didn't succeed. But thanks to the Palin pick, it has done more to re-invent McCain as a reforming change than the candidate has done on his own in the last three months. And the Alaska governor also has done more to reinvigorate McCain's candidacy than any speech he could have given. In fact, this turned out to be Sarah Palin's convention -- that was made clear when Heart’s “Barracuda” was the song that played as she joined McCain after his speech ended. But is it ever a good thing to be upstaged by your VP pick? McCain was never going to win a speech contest with Obama. But his "celebrity" attack over the past couple of months was a good way of blunting Obama's speech in Denver and lowering expectations for his own. Yet when McCain unveiled his own celebrity -- Palin, who wowed the GOP crowd on Wednesday night -- it made his speech pale in comparison....

*** Waiting for the interview: There are now about 60 days until Election Day and just three weeks until the debates. And who knows whether we'll get the first Sarah Palin serious issue interview before then. This morning on JOE, McCain manager Rick Davis wouldn't commit to putting her out to media interviews unless they saw it as helping their campaign. This Sunday is interesting in that three of the four principles are doing sunday shows, the lone holdout: Palin.

*** Obama vs. O'Reilly: If you were on the convention floor last night, you probably missed Obama’s interview with Bill O’Reilly. And if so, you missed quite a show. It was a heated -- yet respectful -- interview over the surge in Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan. One thing is for sure: Obama seems more intent on confronting his media opponents...

*** It's the economy, stupid: By the way, the latest jobs report is out, and it shows that the unemployment rate jumped to 6.1% in August and employers cut 84,000 jobs. According to the AP, it was the eighth month in a row of job losses. Thnk McCain wishes he put a little more meat on the bones in the economic portion of his speech last night?

*** Downballot watch: The AP also is reporting that the National Republican Senatorial Committee has canceled its $2.3 million TV buy in New Mexico, "an indication that it's leaving the GOP candidate there to fend for himself as the party braces for losses." Not only does that seem to mean that the GOP is giving up on a second Senate contest (the first was Virginia), but how will that impact the presidential race in that battleground state?

*** On the trail: McCain and Palin begin the day after their convention campaigning in Cedarburg, WI and then hold a rally in Sterling Heights, MI. Meanwhile, Obama and Biden are both in Pennsylvania: Obama stumps in Duryea and Biden is in Philadelphia and Langhorne.

My thoughts exactly:

When will the MSM and MSNBC stop fawning over the Wicked Witch of Alaska and the Ancient Liar and start exposing their lies for what they really are?  When will we get some intelligent analysis of the RNC Freak Show exposing the lies they've been telling all week long?  Why does the Daily Show and Colbert Report provide us with more intelligent analysis of the lies of the repugnant ones than the whole MSM put together?

All week long we've heard nothing but lying doubletalk.  They were the ones who bloated our government and wasted vast amounts of taxpayer dollars but now they blame the Democrats as usual.  Come on MSM, especially MSNBC, expose the double talk for what it really is.

The Panderer last night said that the Democrats are the party of Me First, Country Second.  Yet which party has been whining for tax cuts for the rich and greedy while blowing up the national deficit and debt to record levels?  Only the Me First crowd of the repugnant ones.  Bill Clinton put Country First by raising taxes and balancing the budget, something no repugnant one has ever done since Nixon.

Only Obama/Biden will put Country First and will help the poor and middle classes!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
We need Meat & Potatoes........

WAR!!
What is it good for??
Who is it good for??

McCain and the republican conventhion was nothin  more than a rally for his service to the Vietnam war. This another war that the Americans had no business being in and it was so long ago.

GET OVER IT McCain!!!
At their convention no meat and potatoes what-so-ever
A whole lot of WAR talk and nothing more.

A bunch of sad people trying to rally for this guy and I  must say I laugh so hard at some the things that was coming out of McCain`s  mouth that I think I missed a lot of it.

Get over it people that war happen ages ago and that is all they can talk about, plus attack Obama.

We need Meat & Potatoes........

Obama/Biden 08
McCain is winning over, Independents by bus loads! He's ahead in polls.  Obama doesn't get it! He running a classic losing strategy campaign for democrats that has not worked since 1984!  Democrats need to be aggressive and go on the attack, and go dirty...but of course, they seem to be above it all...hope that makes you sleep better when McCain is president.  Hillary got it...she could've beat him...thanks Obamabots for giving us a loser as a candidate.
Obama is bringing the SNL 3 a.m. ad to life that  showed Obama calling Clinton for help. The decision in November is between McCain And Obama, the Obama camp can get Sen Clinton to support and attack all they want but Sen Clinton is not on either ticket and most people don’t care about endorsements. Also I think this sends a message that Sen Obama and their attack dog Sen Biden are afraid of something. They need to grow up and stop running to Sen Clinton when their in a tough spot. This won’t help them with the hold out Clinton supporters like myself who may stay home in November, this only sends a message that Obama is not ready. If Obama wants the Clinton supporters than he needs to reach out to them himself and stop sending Sen Clinton to do his dirty work. We already know we like Sen Clinton it’s Obame we’re not sure of. Most Clinton supporters feel that Sen Clinton is being forced to help any way. No other losing canidate has ever done as much as Sen Clinton but this will be Obama's presidency and he and only he can make that sell. Whenever he uses Sen Clinton a lot of her supporters feel that she is just being used and will back away from Obama.
Heart just sent a cease and desist order to the McCain-Palin campaign for their use of Barracuda.

When will they learn they can only use country songs?
"This morning on JOE, McCain manager Rick Davis wouldn't commit to putting her out to media interviews unless they saw it as helping their campaign. This Sunday is interesting in that three of the four principles are doing sunday shows, the lone holdout: Palin."

Come on, First Read.  It's being reported that Nicole Wallace said that Sarah Palin will NOT be doing press interviews.  Can we get someone on that story, pease?
Was there a mistake with the backdrop last night showing the Walter Reed School in CA?
_____________
There must have been a lot of community organizing going on the last 2 weeks for you guys @ First Read. Two conventions in two weeks. I can't even imagine the undertaking that required. If there were glitches, it didn't show here. Everything appears to have worked out terrific.

Great job to you all. Very interesting reporting came out of both conventions onto this site. Hope you all get some rest. Enjoy your families. Sit back and watch some football & baseball. You must all be exhausted.

Looking forward to Rachel's new program Monday night.

Two months to go everybody! That's it!
No disrespect to McCain but, while we appreciate his service to his country, there is something VERY wrong about the fact that John McCain has spent more time talking about what HE went through 40 years ago than what the American people are going through right now (and for the last 8 years)!!!

McCain admitted in his book - in his own words - that his first presidential run was NOT about helping the American people, but was simply about trying to grab the power of the office. So WHY hasn't ANYONE in the media asked the McCain campaign why voters should believe that McCain cares about them now? Everything he has done in this campaign has been politically motivated, from abandoning all of his 'maverick' positions to his VP pick, yet everyone just buys his "country first" bullshit without even calling him out on the FACT that the last time he ran he was, by his own admission, about "McCain first", not "country first".
McCain did not talk about the economy, he did not talk about health care and he did not talk about the housing situation. McCain = MORE OF THE SAME!!!!!!

Obama/Biden '08
"Dunce" McCain didn't talk more about the economy because he's clueless about what to say except to excuse himself and his party for screwing up our economy.  So funny that the day after "Sinner" Sarah's Screech of the Banshee the DOW dropped 344 points.  I wonder how far it will tank today after "Dunce" McCain's cheerleader fight swan song?

Unemployment is up to 6.1% now, heck of a job Bushie!  When will middle class America wake up to the fact that the repugnant ones are at war against it?  "Warmonger" McCain has been fighting you his whole political career and it's time to wake up before your job is shipped off to China and you're standing in the unemploymet line being told tough luck, you're on your own!

Only Obama/Biden will protect and serve middle class Americans!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
McCain's speech was just as lame as his candidacy. He totally blew it. Like Palin, they both offered NO specific policies on which the public could chose. He's been in the Senate 26 years and last night he says, "I won't let you down"???? How about letting us down for the last 26 years, John? How about voting 95% of the time with Bush...isn't THAT letting us down? The man cannot give a speech, looks totally uncomfortable on a stage, has a cheesy, creepy smile when he speaks and presents himself just so UNpresidential. Eight years is ENOUGH!  The only thing I agreed with last night was when he said "Change is coming." Yes, it is, John, but NOT by you or your flawed running mate. The change will come from the next POTUS...Barack Obama!   Obama/Biden '08
McSame's speech was Mcboring
Eight months in a row with job losses and the Republican Party does not even discuss unemployment or the economy. A new high for unemployment, more uninsured and the Republican candidates and their spokespeople continue to attack the Democratic Party and Barack Obama for offering new ideas and new directions.

McCain talks about change but the only way that a change would benefit the American people would be a change from his past policies.
McCain has exhibited stupidness in his campaign and I will vote for Bob Barr because of it.  I don't theink McCain is much different from Obama anymore because his pick of Palin is a joke.  I am a conservative who will vote for Bob Barr because he is and he can be trusted McCain can not be trusted.
"unless it helps their campaign?"  The MSM needs to remind the McCain campaign that they are asking us to put this person in a position to have to deal with Iraq, Iran, Pakistan & Putin--possibly on Day 2!!!  And we don't get to determine if she's qualified "unless it helps the campaign."  I couldn't believe on Morning Joe you all let that pass!
Will the media push back and question others for Palin not doing true in-depth interviews? People magazine and similar interviews don't count including Fox News (which of course will get first one)  Will there be a count down to her first interview?  Will the McCain campaign respond to the questions about her background?
"Government assistance for unemployed workers was designed for the economy of the 1950s. That's going to change on my watch."

AS SOMEONE WHO SURVIVED ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE WHEN I LOST MY JOB, AM I THE ONLY PERSON IN AMERICA THAT HEARD HIM SAY THIS LAST NIGHT?
After all the analysis by the pundits on McCain's rejection Bush in his speech, I don't think he sold it. He talked around it, kind of smeared it into a bunch of other things and did not deliver it well. He actually was boring and I found I had to struggle to listen to him. The take away message was that he was a POW. It was a very poor acceptance speech.
The speech was so contradictory that I doubt voters got it. First we had Palin and the others before McCain, who all lashed at Obama like partisan dogs; then you see a dramatic shift in mcCain's speech asking for bipartianship and accusing Obama of lack of it. What is this? This election is getting pretty entertaining.
The Republicans make my blood boil...

HOW DARE THE GOP RUN A VIDEO ABOUT 9/11 THAT WAS SIMPLY A CAMPAIGN AD FOR JOHN MCCAIN!!!

HOW DARE THEY!!!

HOW DARE THEY CHEAPEN THE LIVES LOST ON THAT DAY TO SIMPLY STUMP FOR VOTES FOR JOHN MCCAIN!!!

THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY AND THE UNMITIGATED GALL TO RUN THEIR "WORLD STOOD STILL" VIDEO AND SLAP EVERYONE WHO LOST A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND OR CO-WORKER RIGHT ACROSS THE FACE IN AN ATTEMPT TO USE THE VICTIMS AS A POLITICAL TOOL!!!

JOHN MCCAIN, AS GOD IS MY WITNESS I WILL MAKE IT MY MISSION TO RUIN YOU!!!

HOW DARE THEY!!!
mccant is now offially running against himself and bush/cheney/rove/mccant so what is he for and what is he against or will he be for it today and against it tomorrow?  Does the term flip-flop ring a bell?  Exactly wht is it that he will change and not change?
I wonder...will the Republican right wing be dismayed that McCain did not love his country until he was a POW?

The reason McCain disappointed is that he has nothing to say.  He is still back in the '60's .  God help us all if he should actually become President.

One more time.  No one watches Moron Joe.  This is clear.  If the Republicans try to keep Palin from meeting the press it will be an admission that they know that she is incompetent.  Watch for signs that McCain is still getting his answers from Lieberman.  They are going to shuffle little Sarah aside as much as they can.
Sen. Obama went toe to toe with Bill O'Reilly last night.  You could see O'Reilly taking his measure and being impressed in spite of himself.  Sen. Obama has that rare ability to get his point across while keeping his cool; when things get heated around him, he gets even cooler.

The rest of the interview will play over next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.

Never thought I'd be encouraging people to watch Bill O'Reilly, but it's great to see Sen. Obama go into the fiery furnace and come out unscathed.
John McCain voted with President Bush 90% of the time

WHAT CHANGE Will he bring ?

John McCain CHANGED from OPPOSING TORTURE to Supporting Torture

John McCain CHANGED from OPPOSING TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH to Supporting TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH

John McCain CHANGED from Calling the Religious Right 'Agents of Intolerance' to Embracing the Religious Right and their poster Girl

John McCain CHANGED from talking about 'Honor' during political campaigns to Adopting the Karl Rove Play book and the dirty politics of lies and smears

THROW THE BUMS OUT !

DON'T BRING THE BUMS BACK !!

Obama / Biden '08
The Judgement and Experience to LEAD AMERICA
McCain botched last night - big time. His speech was identical to everything he derides Obama for: flash, not substance; lofty rhetoric, not concrete plans; a good speech, not a campaign platform. And he didn't extricate himself from Bush enough to please most swing voters.

http://www.political-buzz.com/
The Republican party loves John McCain so much, it would rather see a small time bully *er* mayor as President than him.

That's kind of sad.

Why doesn't John McCain talk about the increasing number of U.S. troops committing suicide? Hard to "spin" that stat, eh?
Heart sends McCain/Palin a cease and desist order for "Barracuda"...

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/05/mccain-palin-embrace-barracuda/
I thought it was a touching speech by McBush as he talked about being a POW. I thought that the funny is thing about the RNC convention was The Fred Thompson Voice over. When you've lived in a box. Repeat 10 times and add silly statements behind. My favorite movie of all time is O' brother were art thou. Just as silly as Pappi O'Donald's campaign saying , I wish we could get some of that REFORM and CHANGE.That is funny coming from the Republican platform. We are going to give you reform and change from ourselves, with the same policies that we want reform and change from. It simply amazes me that People could buy into that nosense. Just like Palin is mistreated because the Media has asked some really tuff questions. Yet she can be as arrogant when talking about her opponents, then use the sexist card for protection the same way McBush is using The P O W card. I think it is slick but unfunny. Kind of like the scrawny guy on the beach kicking sand in the eye's of the good looking guy. Then laying on the ground holding his own eyes as the girls walk by to get sympathy. Cheap ,cheap polytricksters at it's best(worst).
Choice is simple Obama/Biden or Pappi McBush/Lipsticked Pitbull. The later is more like putting lipstick on two pigs.
Regarding the shielding of Palin from the media, what the media should do is pack up and walk away - after all, if there isn't a story there, why stay. If they're not willing to answer questions, then the stories from other sources should prevail. That'll get the pit bull to tuck it's tail.
I can't believe the MSM is falling over themselves claiming Palin's speech was a "home run".  It was an empty speech - no specifics - and filled with lies.

When WILL this country wake up and decide "ENOUGH"!

If M-P come into power, China, Russia and India will be thrilled, for it spells the certain decline of the USA...
WHERE IS HILLARY IN ALL OF THIS??  Why hasn't she truly defended Obama.  She should be out there on all of the cable shows telling us how horrible for the country Palin would be.  Instead we have heard almost nothing!  She is almost the only person who can attack back against Palin with impunity, yet she doesn't.
I'm sorry, but how does picking an extreme right wing running mate make McCain more of a "maverick"

Please explain. Because to me, it just equals 4 more years of Bush or worse
What I heard last name was nothing I hadn't heard before, EXCEPT the word "change" about 20 or 30 times, he wants Obama's theme of change and make it his own.
OK, OK, I get it - you are a war hero and a POW, your story is compelling, blah, blah, blah.  Can you or anyone else please tell me how that quailfies McCain to be our President?  It qualifies you to be a tough person and someone who is courageous, but it is not enough to just be given the biggest possible job in this country and frankly, is pretty short-sited to believe that we as Americans will vote solely on that.  But maybe we are dumber than I thought, after all, we did vote Bush back into the White House a second time.
Palin did a good job delivering the attack speech that was written for her, but I want to know what, if anything, she knows (and thinks) about international and domestic affairs ... and whether she can answer direct questions.  I am one of those Independent white females supporting Obama.
One can clearly see after McCain’s speech why Obama should be President and McCain should not. While not being critical of McCain’s lack of oratory skills one can be critical of the content of the speech. The POW personal story was fine, but is not relevant. Besides, we already knew of McCain’s time in the service and we respect him for that service.  But what the speech did lack was substance regarding the issues. It’s clear that McCain is attempting to make personalities the central theme while Obama is focusing on solutions to those issues that are facing Americans today.  McCain is staying away from the issues (with the exception of the Iraq surge and a generic call for drilling) because he knows he cannot win the battle of the issues. Prior to the McCain speech the Republican’s  attempt to make this race about personalities and not the issues was evident when they sent forward McCain’s condescending, sarcastic  and unchallenged VP pick.

I was amazed to hear some of the cudos given to Palin for her speech by the pundits while it also lacked any substance regarding the issues and at the same time exceeding all other speeches in personally attacking Obama. Palin has only been on the scene for a few days, a complete unknown, and here she is in her first real appearance before the American people attempting to crucify Obama when not even in the same league. Frankly, while listening to her speech one thing came to mind. Thank goodness I have not and will not ever work for this woman as she is obviously one vindictive bit__.

If you listened to McCain’s over-generalized positions on the economy in his speech as well as a few generic comments about education every single one was and is identical to those of GWB over the last eight years.  Rachel Maddow was observant enough to point out how 4 or 5 of McCain’s economic comments  were identical to those taken by Bush.

McCain’s call for bi-partisanship cooperation to resolve issues was pretty lame to say the least. Following the speeches by Thompson, Lieberman, Huckabee and especially Palin, McCain has the gall to say that he is the change agent who wishes to end the political bickering. His surrogates and Palin attempt to crucify Obama for three nights running with degrading and personal attacks and then McCain shows up smiling and claiming he wants to take the high road.

Finally, I am pretty amazed at how the Republicans at their convention appeared to be salivating all over someone who most did not know prior to the person being selected as the VP nominee a week ago.  Seemed to me it shows a real lack of maturity and common sense on the part of these people.  Oh, I know, they think that anyone who can give a fairly good speech trashing someone else is supposed to be their star of the future. But in their haste to crown Palin the future leader of the Republican party they remind me of a guy who while in Vegas salivates and then marries a gorgeous female he met but one week earlier. Only to find out on the first night of their honeymoon that this gorgeous gal turns out to be a drag queen.
OK First Read gentlemen, if McCain couldn't capitalize on all the months and months of that very hard-fought Democratic primary season (when he had locked up the GOP nod fairly early), then what made you think he WOULDN'T squander last night...??

McCain's whole campaign has been a series of inconsistent messaging, hypocrisy, and missed opportunities to show us what he would do as President.  Why should we expect anything different now?
McCain's speech was all about him.  In Obama's words this elections is "all about you" (the people).  Also, his economic policy was all Bush.  He doesn't have an economic platform.  How do you divorce yourself from Bush and then lay out the last 8 years failed economic policies as your own.  He definitely missed an opportunity to prove he knows anything about the economy.  Clearly he got it right the first time, he doesn't know much about the economy.
He won't let her meet with the Press but he's letting her campaign??!!  Hmmmm, just how many ways can she not answer the Press as she's campaigning.  INquiring minds want to know...

The mind boggling issue, is that McCain's camp does not want Palin to do interviews.  Double standard and male sexism on the McCain camp. If she were a male, they would have been all over the press to get their guy out there. I hope the press actually pushes this issue.

Forgive this long comment but I am incensed this morning...

Rick Davis intimated this morning that Sarah Palin won't be answering in her own words like other candidates.

He intimated no interviews in the near future...this woman who has read other people's words twice ...one you are raving about...because someone wrote some words and she performed them with the right intonation...ugh.

Yet she will not be answering questions herself in the face of all the questions that have arisen...

They are going to do exactly what the last 8 years have done...

When questions arise ...call out and shut out the press on patriotism, sexism, national security...and throw cover over the mistakes.

Meanwhile, just like Bush and Cheney and Rove and Rumsfeld...our national security (and their mistakes) is slipped out the back door while they can hide the cover ups more and/or the candidate choice that doesn't have the any grasp of ANY of the issues we are facing - outside helping build a pipeline (while her inauguration was being paid for by BP) as "energy expertise" but no one is allowed to question her on that...because that is "sexist"?

While they claim Palin is being attacked for sexist reasons...they won't let her do interviews.

They continue more of the last 8 years again a just straight continuation with Palin's reading other people's words and a ticket who won't let the candidate who is second in command answer questions on her own...in her own words...not "act a speech"

She is the freakin VP nominee for the United States of America and they expect to hide her and limit access that everyone else has had to face...

I am steadfast now in the fact that that this was the worst choice or descision by a Presidential nominee in our history... (on a Presidential level this rivals the war from Bush ...the one Mccain fought for to go into from the week after 9/11)

So this is how it is going to be?!

The press wants to asks why she doesn't believe in man mad effects on global warming...

- no you can't ask that is "sexist and vicious."

Well then hy is there an investigation - again the campaign puts out a statement and won't let anyone ask her directly ...and tries to do exactly what they have done for 8 years...

"don't ask media! look america look they are sexist! and unpatriotic!"...don't do your jobs...

and "we have a right" to not answer the press or have the press decide what questions she should answer...that is pretty much what Rick davis said this morning.
So we are going to elect a woman and ignore...

why she thinks "intelligent design" and church teachings should be taught in school along scientific facts and calculations and math...

why she thinks contraception is bad for teenagers to know about if their parents don't tell them...

or what "expertise" exactly is it outside getting an oil pipeline through a 90 day a year oil economy dependent state legislation...that she has on energy?

or what is the difference between the mujahadeen and Osama Bin Laden ?(nothing...just time and ideological evolution of a fatwa if she didn't know the answer...did she even know that OBL fought for the mujahadeen.)

does she know the history of the Korean conflicts...

does she know the details of the iranian hostage crisis...

what is the constitutional basis for separation of powers...

Why did BP pay for your inauguration as you are calling for offshore drilling but not more drilling where they already have access?

The silence from the McCain campaign trying to cover up how bad and ill-equipped Palin is to answer questions and follow ups and details on ANY of the issues we are facing....

Questions may I remind you, that Obama and Biden and Mccain and Hutchinson and Clinton and any nationally recognized pol out there actually has had to answer many times on many occasions including scandals ...of which Palin seems to have many.

What exactly is she going to do when on 9/11 she is in the White House making decisions on whether or not planes should be shot down while the President is indisposed.

Will she know the difference between Saudi Arabian culture and Iraqi?

Will she know whether a sunni would be friends of Iran or Pakistan vs. Shia?

Would she know how Russia would react?

Would she know how NATO would react?

Would she know where those terrorist came from and what cultural influences would effect them in southeast asia for instance...

or Africa for instance?

This is the worst decision in the history of our nation - Palin as a vp candidate...the person, who like Cheney, in the first year had to step in and have an understanding of the complexities of the world would risk the fate of the world never mind just our nation...and she has not shown any recorded capacity or answers to the problems we face...and now they are saying probably not "really" going to be interviews with follow ups.

Is this how John McCain is going to run our government.

Is this how he makes decision in hiring/appointing?

Is this how his government will be ...no interviews...with people other than him...if questions arise.

sorry for the diatribe...

but here we are seeing that this campaign is as bad as the last 8 years of Bush and Cheney. The dark lord arises again...shiver.
I watched the Palin Speech last night (Tivo)
I dont see all the rancor that was talked about last night.
Did she go after Obama YES.
Was it over the line NO
I am sorry if some are offended but just look at your own candidate and look at all the post here. I thinks thou dost protest too much.
See where Oprah won't book Palin on her show? Palin doesn't need the ignorant middle aged white trash vote to win this fall, so I guess this is a good thing.
You do know that the Wilson sister's (the band Heart) have denounced the RNC's use of their song Barracuda as they are completely not in synch with Palin?

They have requested (strongly) that the GOP not use their songs.
If McCain was serious about getting a reformer and someone fresh her should of brought out palin months ago. I agree with both campaigns we cannot take chances with unproven leaders. Obama has proved himself durning this campaign. Palin need to get out there for the next 61 days. She might be great but she need to prove it. Just because AK is close to Russia doesn't cut it for me. Don't hide her make her accesible. Oh and I agree with the RNC that we need leaders with good judgement.
Again, the McCain-Palin campaign offers no answers to the issues facing our family.

I've given them a chance to speak, and they just haven't done it.

"Missed Opportunity" indeed.

http://midwestmoms.blogspot.com
This country has eight weeks to get to know who Sarah Palin is, and thus far, the McCain camp is "sequestering" her from the press, and more importantly from the American people.

I don't care about the salacious details of her personal life, but I would like some questions answered about her policies and stand on important issues:

Questions that MUST be answered:
Abuse of power when mayor and governor?
Trying to ban books and fire a librarian who would not?
Raising taxes in her small town of Wasilla?
Taking over 27 million dollars in Federal earmarks for a town of less than 10,000.
Religious extremist whose religion does NOT believe in separation of church and state?

Sure, she can read a prepared speech (which was written before she was selected, personal stuff added when she was picked)  BUT

WHO IS SARAH PALIN?
If a Republican accepted a presidential nomination in Minnesota and nobody cared, did he make a sound?
This morning on JOE in response to whether Sarah Palin will submit to any interviews, Rick Davis also said "We'll do what's best for us" - Someone should hand him one of those "Country First" signs people have been waving all week.
