Obama: Another record haul

Posted: Monday, September 15, 2008 9:12 AM by Mark Murray

The most impressive part of Obama's August fundraising haul was not the $66 million he brought -- but rather the 500,000 new donors. In just ONE month. The New York Times says Obama “raised more money in August than any presidential candidate has ever recorded in a one-month period, with his campaign disclosing on Sunday that it collected $66 million and drew 500,000 first-time donors to his candidacy.”

Yet Politico adds that the “haul in August donations may set records but it's only a down payment on the huge sums the Democratic presidential nominee must continue to collect in order to compete through the Nov. 4 election… His announcement that he had $77 million in cash in the bank at the end of August came strikingly close to the roughly $85 million in taxpayer funds that Republican John McCain has to spend on the entire general election.”

The Washington Post: "On a range of major foreign policy issues over the past year, Bush has pursued strategies and actions very much along the lines of what Sen. Obama has advocated during his presidential race, according to the Illinois Democrat's campaign and many diplomatic and security experts."

Hillary Clinton stumped for Obama in Ohio Sunday and barely mentioned Palin by name. (Then again, the Obama folks don’t want this race to be about Palin, right?)

This goes to show you...that the Media was wrong....All I kept hearing was how the Obama campaign was having money trouble....guess not. I believe the polls are wrong too...I spent last Thursday at a Convention... I wore an Obama /Biden pin.... and I had so many people tell me they supported them too.

In additon to donating money...please donate some time to help.   We can't take another 4 years of this.

The media is going to try to decide this election. When Joy Behar finally called out McCain on his lies, his poll numbers went instantly into free-fall. Now we're back to saturation coverage of hurricanes, train wrecks, and a barrage of phony crises yet to come. This prevents Obama's message from being heard, keeping the votes frozen where they are today, and handing the election to Sarah Palin or whoever the evil genius is pulling the levers behind John McCain
Palin was the best thing that could have happened to Senator Obama's fundraising.

"On a range of major foreign policy issues over the past year, Bush has pursued strategies and actions very much along the lines of what Sen. Obama has advocated during his presidential race"
SO Obama is just like George W. Bush???????????
Who cares how much money he has, if he won't get serious about winning this election for the American people?
For some reason the Democrats are confused. They believe having more money will win the election. They had a $100 million more then Bush had in 2004, and we all know how that turned out. Lots of deep pockets in the Democratic party. They like to pay off their representitives so they can stay on the Gravy Train. McCain and Palin have a history of cleaning that corruption up. Americans are starting to realize that, and that's why we see McCain leading.
"Then again, the Obama folks don’t want this race to be about Palin, right?"

I am glad to hear people are stepping up and that the Obama camp is finally hitting back with equal force.

McShame has NO shame and NO honor.

He has, for years, voted against veterans benefits - over and over and over.

He wants to continue the very policy that has proven to be the worst Foreign Policy in AMERICAN HISTORY.

He votes FOR the lobbyist and een speaks for them - doesn't this make McShame a lobbyist, as well, since he is taking their money?
With a $10 million one day haul during the Palin speech, I think we're quite possibly on the cusp of another big month.

I had my in-laws donate in lieu of a birthday present.

And I think we can all agree that Bush has been carbon-copying Obama's foreign policy agenda. I bet he even pre-ordered "Change We Can Believe In", a good read by the way.

The more people see of the Governor from Nowhere the better Obama looks. I've been blogging.
We Obama supporters put our money behind our candidate -- $66 MILLION IN ONE MONTH!!!!  This haul has broken all records.  This is history.  We, ordinary citizens, are taking our government back from the Republicans who have handed it over to big oil companies, big businesses and the 5% of millionaires in our great nation.  This government of ours is by the people for the people.  Watch out, McCain/Bush/Republicans, we are coming full speed ahead.  There's no stopping us, McCain.  Just get out of our way.
OBAMA/BIDEN '08
Half a million new donors in a month? Hmmm. Maybe the reports of Obama's political death have been a bit premature?
Yeah Go Obama and raise that record amount of money needed to defeat the true enemy of middle class America, "Bush Hugger" McCain and "Antichrist" Palin!

Let's keep sending Obama the money he needs to wrest back the White House from the liars and thieves of the RNC Freak Show!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
this is my question, with all the new doners(500,000) why is the media making it seem to me that barack is loosing his edge in this close race. tom brokow yesterday when talking to chuck schumer only noted the polls where barack was trailing, why didn't he mention the polls on the economey as a example!!
the race is one or 2 points up or down for both candidated but if you only looked at face the nation or meet the press or that crap on ABC you would think barack is down 20 points and sarah was this great person for the republicans!!
66 million dollars, 77 million in the bank, what am i missing here!! i don't think people would be giving money like this to a candidate who is trailing as bad as the media would lead you to believe!!!

media who are you crapping!!!
Good for Senator Clinton.

The race is NOT between Senator Obama and Ms. Palin.  As long as the Republicans and the Media can focus on the antics of Mrs. Palin, they are keeping our minds off the issues.

I hope that Senators Obama, Biden, and Clinton act as though Mrs. Palin does not exist.  Not only will this change the focus, but it will tick Senator McCain off.........and we all know what happens when HE gets ticked off.

We actually stand a chance of him showing the American public just what he is and just where he stands!

At least the media is publishing a list of the lies presented by both campaigns.  That is only fair.  They just have a LOT more to publish from the McCain side.  Too bad that too many people don't research their "information".  And the Republicans seems to go along with the premise that a lie told frequently enough will be accepted as truth.

The Federation of Republican Women of Florida are calling for a boycott of Oprah Winfrey because she won't have Palin on her show (or any of the candidates, but that logic is lost on them.)Talk about the same divisive politics of the last eight years! I know Obama wants us to ignore Palin, so I am really trying not to flame back at them. I sent Obama some money, instead.
The Media can hype up the McCain camp if they want, the bottom line is Obama's leading where it counts... They show that McCain's leading Nation Wide in the polls, but I really do wonder who these folks are polling... I just refuse to believe that this Country can be stupid enough to get "duped" and laughed at for a 3rd time in a row... Even a 3rd world nation would've figured it out by now...

If Obama takes Ohio and Pennsylvania (& He Will), that's the wrap! So is there any wonder why the Repugnants are desperately throwing out everything in it's weak ass arsenal??? They have to play dirty by distorting truths, and blatantly straight up lying to us, directly insulting the intellect of the American People, and quite basically 'cause they can... They figure that the "Proof is in the Pudding", after all, we did fall for these tactics twice before...

Right now the McCain camp is likened to that boxer who knows he's down heading into the final rounds of a bout, and has to come out swinging, throwing "Haymakers" hoping for the best, swinging for the Knockout... Try as you might, this Palin woman simply aint gon' get it done for you.

She shows her mental capacity every day, sticking with the same sick, straight in your face blatant lies... She's merely a puppet on a string, - and these feminist's seem to be taking pride that they can relate - ...Well I'm guessing they can...

Bottom Line ...We're about to go in one of two directions... Which side of history will you be on???

...On the side that kept us on the same path of Nothingness & Regressing, or on the side that helped us re-establish ourselves as that Great Nation... One of the Hope, Aspirations, & Accomplishment that we once were???

At some point America, we're gonna have to either Wisen Up, or come to grips with some Dark Truths...

Once the Country realize that voting for a Black Man actually isn't the End of The World it'll all be alright...

With McCain's record, and his backing and supporting of Bush's policies, coupled with the obviously unqualified Palin, this race really has no business being close...

I watched both conventions intently, and really am amazed at how the GOP said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

Speech, after speech, after speech... NOTHING!!!

Our Country is truly becoming a joke... Where we were once a great Nation of Great Hope and Aspirations, by our own people we are being reduced to a Nation of Nothing... And WHY??? Due to simple truths we as a Nation don't too much care to admit...

AND WOMEN!!! I am utterly shocked that you all are not putting the best interest of your kids at heart... "Just add a woman to the Republican mix, and you all lose your convictions, and perspective of what should be MOST important to you" . Don't be fooled... Simply because one says so doesn't make it so. If anything you all should see this entire approach as an insult to all women...

I have two Sons. An 8 year old (Born when Bush became president), and a 2 month old (Born, uh, well 2 months ago :) And I am truly terrified with the prospect of having McCain in office, along with the policies of Bush -or anything that might even come close to those policies. After 8 years of Nothinness the kids of this Nation deserve better... Even if their parents see things through blurred vision, the kids of Our Great Nation deserve better.

But in the event that McCain is elected, we have ourselves to blame...

We're about to go in one of two directions... Which will we chose??? This is a pivotal moment in our history...

For those that apply... If you can't bring yourselves to vote for a candidate simply because he is Black, then SIMPLY DON'T. At the end of the day I'm certain Obama can live with it, but you'll have to as well, as we all sit stagnant awaiting another 4 Years to rectify our wrong, while we painfully endure 4 MORE YEARS OF THE SAME...

Wisen up folks... The stakes are entirely too high.

Time Reveals All...
I can't wait until the next generation takes over. Our leaders and "Wisers" are clueless. All the greatness, and sacrifices of this Nation I read about in the History books seem so far fetched. Seems to me, and so many of my peers that we are a Nation of COWARDS. Where were our parents when we needed them? How selfish they were when they decided not to put of futures first. Well that future has become my present, and for the first time I'm able to vote, and I refuse to leave a future for my kids similar to the one my parent left for me. It doesn't take much to see through the fog. All you have to do is open your eyes.
Give 'til it hurts and then keep on giving.
OBAMA/BIDEN 08
Leave it to Politico to see record-setting fundraising as a failure.  'Nuff said.
re White House foreign policy advocated by Obama that McLiar said was naive,  Old John is incompetent as well as a liar and a fraud.
I'm going to donate another 25.00 tonight.

Obama's for the american people and American's are for OBAMA`08 and 12
This race isn't about Palin.......only an idiot would make it so.....Media this includes you too.
You(the MSM)dropped the ball when you didn't question Bush about invading Iraq.....now you are doing the same thing with McCain. MSM get off you a$$es and report the facts....America's future at stake.
Palin needs to see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwTKM_u-7j4.  John McCain has no repect for women and an explosive temper when he doesn't get is way.

Be afraid......be very, very afraid......
Obama... you need to run an ad like these:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwTKM_u-7j4
There is so much dirt out there on McCain that is true..you don't have to lie. Obama get on the ball.
We have not made donations for you to whimp out on us.
Get your b@lls back for Jesse and neuter McCain.

I would be one of those 500,000 new donors.  First time I ever gave money to a campaign.  I was pulling for John McCain all along, but have lost all trust and faith in him.  I just do not enjoy his negativity and lies that his campaign has been running on.  I do not like that fact the he has allowed Karl Rove style politics into his campaign.  I thought he was different.  I guess I am an Obamacan now.
Yeah and what good has it done him?
Hillary and Bill are both going to raise their political capital in the next two months.

I'm sure after all that was said and done during the primaries on both sides, this isn't a matter of letting by-gones be by-gones. The Clintons, know the stakes, and are going to do whatever they need to do to get a Dem in the White House.

I just hope the rest of America is going to do their part.
