No, this is not SNL

From NBC's Chuck Todd
Both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin will participate in a protest on Monday of the presence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadienjad, NBC News has learned.

The two politicians will not appear together at the protest but will both participate, according to those close to the organizing of this protest. The event is being organized by a coalition of groups (mostly Jewish) upset by the presence of Ahmadienjad in New York at the opening of the U.N. General Assembly and the threat Iran presents to "global security."

The protest will take place across the street from the U.N.

*** UPDATE *** NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports Hillary Clinton will not be attending the rally. An aide said they were not aware it had become a partisan political event. The groups had issued a press release saying both Clinton and Palin would be attending. The news release was the first that Clinton's people knew of Palin's involvement. Palin is expected to be at the U.N. next week to be introduced to visiting foreign leaders -- part of the McCain campaign's attempt to burnish her foreign policy credentials.

Why, all of the sudden, does Palin care about this?
Hmmm, can Obama sit down with him before the protest? Without pre-conditions?
an excuse for the return of tina fey?
This isn't SNL either:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when asked Tuesday whether Democrats bear some of the responsibility regarding the current crisis on Wall Street, had a one-word answer: “No.”

Liberals would go into cardiac arrest if Bush would say such a thing. Liberals, you are so out of touch with reality. Pelosi wanted the power so she could stop the war, lower fuel prices, and just do good things. She has failed on all fronts. And she washes  her hands of any responsibility for any of the problems in this country? This is Democratic leadership? Unbelievable!
So, where's Obama??
HRC on the Republican campaign trail!

It's my distortion and I can distort if I want to!

After being given "the chick" treatment by the Hussein Obama, I would wanna be a Republican, too.

They are woman, hear them roar!
That ought to be interesting.  This seems to be for political purposes...obtain the Jewish vote.  Now, makes sense for Senator Clinton to participate...the Jewish vote is a significant part of her constituency.  Gov. Palin, on the other hand, is more represented by eskimoes.
MCain spokesman Tucker Bounds issued the following statement:

"Giving Governor Palin the opportunity to see the United Nations from across the state will give her the necessary foreign policy experience she would need if called on to serve as President".
Given that Clinton ran in the primary for President and Palin is on the ticket for VP, I am disappointed by their decision.

Those who wish to be the leaders of our country must be able to face the leaders of this world both good and bad.   Should it be the future when one of them could be the President of this country, will they simply protest then or will they engage in diplomacy - even though that diplomacy would be tense at best.

If we do not acknowledge leaders of countries which we do not support and often openly detest, then we have no other recourse but to one day meet them in battle.

I fully understand and agree with the need to protest his presence at the U.N. General Assembly, but the protest should not come from those who wish to be the top leaders in our country.

Because with that distinction comes the responsibility of working with countries that are both friend and foe alike.

Turning a blind-eye to our enemies is a bad decision.
Does Palin even know who Ahmadienjad is?
Maybe Palin's going to try to meet her first head of state!
Let me guess Charlie . Sarah can see the Iranian coastline from her house.
I wonder if Ahmedinejad is one of the world leaders Sarah Palin will be meeting in the hopes of bolstering her foreign policy credentials?

------------------------------------------

Republican candidate John McCain plans to introduce the Alaska governor to heads of state at the opening of the U.N. General Assembly, although specific names weren’t yet firmed up.  "The meetings will give her some exposure and experience with foreign leaders," the strategist said.  "It's a great idea."

------------------------------------------

McCain will introduce her to world leaders?  Are you freakin' kidding me?  This is a Presidential Election and she's not Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady"!

What experience will she gain...how to say "hello" in Farsi?

Memo to the GOP...this stopped being funny a long time ago!
WHO IS THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT ANYWAY?
Every time I turn on a news channel I see Sarah talking with John McCain standing behind her with a sheepish grin on his face.  Is there something I do not understand?

Who cares if he comes.  He should be allowed to go to the UN!

We need to get America back on track.  Worry about US for a change.

Protest against homelessness & poverty!
Protest against CRAZY Health Care Cost!
etc...

I totally support the right to protest, having been to a number myself.

Unfortunately in this case I think Clinton and Palin's presence will serve as a distraction for the real problems in America. We're in the midst of a financial crisis (http://torqopia.blogspot.com/search/label/economy), and no doubt media coverage of this protest will now drown out any other news of the day.

Sigh.
I think you can tell the difference on who is who....

Vice president palin will be the one wearing the skirt.

Hillary Clinton will be dressed like Elton John.
Will the press be able to ask the Alaskan ice queen questions at this event?
As funny as the SNL skit was (and I look forward to more of the same) the whole Clinton/Palin thing is far from being funny. Though I was not a Clinton supporter, her knowledge and expertise is so far above that of the supermom from Alaska, that it's scary, not funny to think any woman (or man) would vote for 4 more years of the same or worse because they like Sarah Palin - she of "she's just like my daughter, sister, cousin.
Go Hillary!
An Evangelical Christian at an event with Jewish folks from NY - that ought to be a good one. She probably still blames them for the death of Christ. That question should be brought up? Also, are the Jews subject to eternal damnation because they don't believe in Christ?

Then there are the recent reports that the McCain camp is sending out calls to Jewish voters disparaging Obama.
Go Sarah Go!!!!  Someone tell Cankles to stay home.
If HRC can find a way to put moose antlers on Ahmadienjad she can solve two problems at once.
I would venture to guess  that  Hillary and Sarah  together would make a formidable and staggeringly  effective duo, despite their differences on  side issues, they  would  work together   and really help get this cuontry  out of the mess we are in and back on track..........
Whup-de-do. I can understand Palin in a protest about the presdeint of Ira nbeing in NY, but I can't agree with Hillary doing so. Palin will obviously be pandering too and playing politics with the Jewish community. If she ever were to meet with the presdeint of Iran she would know wha the hell to do. As for Hillary I don't understand her intentions. What a good and sound leader (President) would do his have the guy for lunch, take him  to a ball game and then that night meet with him in private and tell him with no fanfare or sabre rattling publically that gives him unwarranted attention and a soap-box and tell him that if he contiunes trying to build nuclear weapons we "will" take him out. Then bid him goodnight and wish him luck. That is leadership.
Careful of the tear gas ladies.
I believe we were aware foreign dictators would be visitors at the UN, which was built on US soil.

I believe I recall Khrushchev banging a shoe on his desk in the UN during the cold war.  Diplomacy anyone?
And doesn't Palin have a former Jewish preacher who says Jews are victims of terroism because they won't submit to Christianity?  Give me a break!

Kathy, Charlotte
What's that about?
Were are all the big mouth liberals so use to trashing the rep.Nothing to say about that Islamic nut..
It's an enormous understatement to state I'm no fan of Mahmoud Ahmadienjad, but I do think it is unbecoming for a sitting US Senator and a Sitting Governor to participate in a protest of any foreign leaders presence at the UN. Do they both believe the US should not have granted a visa? If so then speak out against the Bush administration granting the visa, but protesting his attendance at the opening session of the UN is not only political (to score points), but not appropriate for the VP candidate, or the Jr. Senator from NY. Is Senator Schumer, the Sr. senator from NY, who is Jewish, going to join the protest? I doubt it. Does that mean he's less of a supporter of Israel than Palin or Clinton? Of course not!
This won't be much of a shiny object event.  Neither woman will get into a cat fight.  Hillary Clinton would never stoop that low and even Sarah Palin isn't that stupid.  She would turn off the 10 Clinton support that were ridiculous enough to be voting based upon body parts and not the issues.
Knock, knock.  Hello.  Excuse me, but could you please tell me where the 70 billion dollars pumped into the market come from?!   How many CEO's just walked off with millions of dollars while others are out of work and we get to add the cost to the national debt owed by    guess who    US!

Unbelievable!

Where's Michelle Obama? Isn't she proud of her country? Where was she on 9/11/08?
Palin has been pulling on Clintons coat tails since she was injected into this race.  I find it hard to believe that she has developed an opinion of the Iranian President or his presence at the U.N. General Assembly, if she even know's who he is.
Sarah Palin is going to New York!  I bet it's her first time.  Maybe she'll have a layover and get a 2'fer.  Better put that on her resume!  I wonder if she is going to take her Moose Killing Gun in case she gets a clear shot at Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadienjad.

Hillary has the home field advantage.  She also has the experience with diplomacy.  We'll see who gets the press on this one!

Go get 'um Hillary

It seems that the Secretary of State from BOTH sides agree with Obama's approach to talking with foreign countries instead of threatening to bomb them if they step out of line.   Obama has been saying all along that we need to sit down with Syria, Iran and Russia to negotiate.  We cannot continue to use the BUSH/McCAIN approach to go in and blow them up as Palin has now stated in her interview with Charlie Gibson.  With McCain the warmonger's plan we will just reinstate the draft and send in the troops to bomb and kill more innocent people.  We cannot do this any longer.  The rest of the world will not allow this.   WE CANNOT allow this!!

VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN '08

SAVE OUR COUNTRY FROM REPUBLICAN DESTRUCTION!
Hillary Clinton needs to do her D**n job - which is to campaign for Obama HARD...the way she and Bill would expect him to do for her if the situation were reversed!! Stop holding back for fear of embarrasing Palin and hurting friend McShame's feelings!
This is known as a 'Special Interest' protest

The Israeli Lobby wants to demonize Iran

The Israeli Lobby wants to grease the skids for an American or Israeli attack on Iran

No thanks !!

Why waste American blood supporting what Jimmy Carter calls 'Apartheid' ?

If you want Peace, work for Justice
GOOD - we NEED Women to clean up all the mess the corrupt men have made of things.
BOTH these women are very well qualified to lead our country.
Protest?  What a joke... Iran is a member of the UN and Ahmadienjad is the president of Iran. I do not agree with all that he has said or belives in but I do believe that the only way to make peace in the middle East is to engage in discussions with it's leaders. Find solutions that are agreed to by both us and them and make dioplomacy work. I understand why there are going to be protest I just do not agree with them.

Why in the world is Palin goingt o be there? ..... Oh Yeah Photo OP!!!

Why is Hillary going to be there?..... Oh yeah she is a senator from NY and a Jewish supporter.

Palin go back to Alaska and drink you moose drool and ruin your state not the rest of the country.
John McCain has selected a vice presidential running mate that is unqualified, unvetted and unfit to lead a girl scout troop through Disneyland, and yet somehow he's elevated her to a position of massive power and importance and a heartbeat away from the Presidency.   That’s just bonkers!

Forget about the media. It's up to our representatives to protect us from this harsh fate. Let's not kid ourselves -- there isn't one respected member of Congress, in either party, who doesn't know how grotesque this situation is. But, because of the nation's bitter partisan divide, it's the Republicans who have to speak up.

Hey, Thad Cochran. You said, "The thought of [McCain] being president sends a cold chill down my spine." Does the thought of Palin being president warm you up any? Hey, Liddy Dole. What does Bob say about this? Hey, John Warner and Pete Domenici. You're leaving office, what have you got to lose by speaking out? Hey, Dick Lugar. Hey, Arlen Specter and Kay Bailey Hutchison. Hey, Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell and Olympia Snowe. Hey, Lamar Alexander and Kit Bond and Robert Bennett and Orrin Hatch. Hey, Richard Shelby and Judd Gregg and George Voinovich and Pat Roberts and Susan Collins. Hey, Chuck Hagel!

Hey, all of you. Don't just whisper amongst yourselves how insane this is. Share it with the rest of us. Your silence can only be interpreted as support for this lunacy. Most of you can't stand the guy anyway. Say something! Yes, a Republican revolt would cost McCain the election, but after his insulting move in picking Sarah Palin, doesn't he deserve to lose? Hasn't he disqualified himself from the presidency with his mavericky first decision?

The country has just endured the worst leadership in modern history, and no lessons have been learned. Despite what we have witnessed over the past eight years, tens of millions of people are willing to instantly repeat the same mistake and elect another sadistic ignoramus to national office because she's able to hide these qualities behind the deceptive dazzle of charisma. This cannot be allowed to happen.

McCain/Palin THANKS BUT NO THANKS ‘08
PALIN...the "L" is silent
does sarah know who he is and what he looks like?
mcsame campaign better make sure and show her enough photos of the man
she might start pointing that finger of hers at every cab driver she sees!
Kudos to both Gov. Palin and Sen. Clinton.  They are doing the right thing.

McCain/Palin2008
I hope that Senator Clinton and Governor Palin will have a chance to meet and greet each other.

Another step forward for women!!!!!!!
Go Sarah!

I hope she comes with a sign saying something about never negotiating with that bozo.
