First thoughts: Has the worm turned?

*** Has the worm turned? After the news of the crisis on Wall Street, McCain’s “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” stumble on Monday, the slip-ups yesterday by McCain’s two biggest economic surrogates (see below for more on that), and four days of sustained TV ad and email blasts by the Obama campaign and the DNC, the political worm seems to have turned a tad since the Palin bounce. Indeed, while we’re not crazy about focusing too much on those daily tracking polls, their needles have moved in Obama’s direction the past couple of days (and we bet that continues today). And guess what -- we’re not talking as much about Palin as we were last week, except for the latest developments in the Troopergate scandal in Alaska. The race has turned back into McCain vs. Obama, and it currently is sitting on turf (the economy) that should favor Democrats. In fact, even the McCain campaign tacitly acknowledges Palin's off the front pages with a new TV ad today that doesn't mention Palin at all -- not even a "McCain-Palin" Administration. It’s simply McCain. By the way, a car-bomb attack today on the US embassy in Yemen (which killed 16 people, including six security forces, six terrorists, and four civilians) reminds us that the focus of the presidential race -- as well as that political worm -- can turn at a moment’s notice.

*** McCain targeting Gordon Gekko: But even with the attack in Yemen, today’s focus will probably remain on the economy. Both candidates have new TV ads in which they speak to the camera about the current troubles on Wall Street. Here’s McCain’s, which his campaign says will be televised nationally: “You, the American workers, are the best in the world. But your economic security has been put at risk by the greed of Wall Street. That's unacceptable. My opponent's only solutions are talk and taxes. I'll reform Wall Street and fix Washington. I've taken on tougher guys than this before.”

VIDEO: Obama raises millions at a Hollywood fundraiser, while McCain mocks him for attending such an event during tough economic times. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.

*** Gone in 120 seconds: Meanwhile, Obama’s out with a two-minute TV ad on the economy -- a sort of a mini-address to show he's taking the current Wall Street crisis seriously. "Here’s what I believe we need to do,” he says in the ad. “Reform our tax system to give a $1,000 tax break to the middle class instead of showering more on oil companies and corporations that outsource our jobs. End the ‘anything goes’ culture on Wall Street with real regulation that protects your investments and pensions. Fast track a plan for energy ‘made-in-America’ that will free us from our dependence on mid-east oil in 10 years and put millions of Americans to work. Crack down on lobbyists… And yes, bring a responsible end to this war in Iraq so we stop spending billions each month rebuilding their country when we should be rebuilding ours. Doing these things won’t be easy. But we’re Americans. We’ve met tough challenges before. And we can again." This ad isn't just a contrast with McCain; it's actually a contrast with President Bush. In the last six months since the country's economic problems have been front-page news, Bush hasn't done a major address to the nation like he has when there has been international news. By the way, neither this Obama ad nor McCain’s emphasizes jobs. They both talk about them (or imply them), but they aren’t the lead.

*** When surrogates screw up: McCain’s top two economic surrogates had a tough day yesterday. First, Douglas Holtz-Eakin -- in a response to reporters’ questions about what McCain did at the Senate Commerce Committee to understand how markets work -- whipped out his BlackBerry. "He did this," he replied. “Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committee so you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did." That produced a slew of McCain-invented-the-BlackBerry jokes. Next, Carly Fiorina answered “no” to a question in a radio interview whether Palin has the experience to run a corporation like Hewlett-Packard. In a later interview with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC, Fiorina said that none of the candidates was qualifed. "Well, I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation; I don't think Barack Obama could run a major corporation; I don't think Joe Biden could run a major corporation.” The Obama camp immediately pounced. “If John McCain’s top economic advisor doesn’t think he can run a corporation, how on Earth can he run the largest economy in the world in the midst of a financial crisis?" Ouch.

VIDEO: NBC's Chuck Todd gives his first read on McCain's difficulty addressing economic concerns over the past couple days and discusses the lack of emphasis on job creation from either candidate.

*** A stroll through memory lane: Remember when two of the leading voices against Wall Street in the Dem Party were John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer? The Edwards and Spitzer rhetoric, even if from flawed characters, is being borrowed from heavily by both campaigns right now.

*** The Beltway buzzer: The buzzy piece of the day comes courtesy of the Politico’s Roger Simon, who has some former Dem bigwigs wringing their hands slightly at the position Obama finds himself in. The most interesting criticism comes from Donna Brazile, who believes Obama’s media strategists “need to sharpen their ads so they are more memorable and have a shelf life of more than 24 hours.” This gets at a whisper campaign that we've been privvy to for some time about Obama's media team. A lot of smart political types have been surprised by the lack of "stickiness" of Obama's TV ads. McCain's ads might be getting killed by the truth-squadders, but they are being talked about and voters seem to remember them. There's not a memorable Obama TV ad that anyone can point to and say, "Wow, that's an interesting ad," even as they seem well produced and well focus-grouped. The most memorable Dem ad we can think of is one that has to do with a 3:00 am phone call. By the way, speaking of "sticky," there's a new MoveOn ad that uses McCain's "my friends" catch phrase very cleverly. Yet another ad from the Dem side that's catchy but not from Team Obama.

*** Republican Jews swift-boating Obama? Don’t miss the Politico story about the Republican Jewish Coalition commissioning a negative poll about Obama in some battleground states. “The poll asked voters their response to negative statements about Obama, including reported praise for him from a leader of the Palestinian terror group Hamas and a friendship early in his career with a pro-Palestinian university professor. Some Jewish Democrats who received the poll – including a New Republic writer who lives in Michigan – were outraged by the poll, describing it in interviews as ‘ugly’ and disturbing. A group that supports Obama, the Jewish Council for Education and Research even staged a protest outside the Manhattan call center from which the calls originated Tuesday.” It appears to truly be a message-testing poll -- and not a so-called "push poll" -- which goes to tens of thousands of voters. This was an actual survey testing the most effective attack against Obama.

*** Clinton's no second fiddle: In the span of about four hours yesterday, Hillary Clinton committed then decommitted to a planned Monday protest of Ahmadienjad in New York. For the opening of the UN General Assembly, a coalition of Jewish groups hoped to flex its political muscle by convincing both Clinton and Palin to participate in an anti-Iran protest. Well, no one told Clinton's folks Palin would also be there. When they found out, they felt blindsided and backed out. Palin isn't 100% yet on the protest -- but her attendance is very likely, particularly since her first meeting with some key Jewish leaders in the US didn't go so well. She needs to show some Israeli solidarity. Palin's appearance at the UN is a tricky decision by the McCain campaign because there's a fine line between introducing a future VP to the world and looking like someone participating in their first model UN.

*** On the trail: McCain and Palin hold an evening rally in Grand Rapids, MI. Obama is in Nevada, stumping in Elko and attending a rally in North Las Vegas. Biden, in Ohio, campaigns in Maumee and Wooster. And Michelle Obama visits Virginia, attending a women’s economic roundtable in Richmond and then a voter-registration rally in Charlottesville.

*** Elsewhere: On Capitol Hill today, at the DNC headquarters, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Rosa DeLauro, Donna Edwards, Linda Sanchez, and Diana DeGette hold a press conference contrasting the Obama and McCain records on women’s issues. Meanwhile, Clinton supporter and DNC Platform Committee member Lynn Forester de Rothschild (wife of international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild) holds a presser announcing her support for McCain.

Its funny that "Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild" took time away from her London home to have a presser.  The amusing thing is that she once called Obama an 'elitist,' no doubt on her way to see the horses at Ascot.

"I'm for McCain.  Let them eat cake," she will no doubt intone.
Long term fudamentals are strong. There will always be ups and downs. It's just the way the system works. There are a lot of problems right now (greed, bad regulations, etc.), but nothing that can't be worked through. However, if Obama is elected look for these problems to accelerate and last longer. He will kill growth.
*** Republican Jews swift-boating Obama?
====================================================

So, is it fair to blame Sen. Obama for the beliefs of others who he might've had a passing friendship??? As new people come into our lives, do we ask them for their credentials and their political and religious affiliations???  Sen. Obama was a professor at the university, and so was this guy- so what??? Again,  Sen. Obama can't control who "praises" or endorses him.  He didn't ask for any support from Hamas.  This is beginning to mirror the primaries all over again.
I guess the lipstick finally came off the pig! Obama and Biden need hammer the GOP on the Economy. Anyway, tomorrow is another day and this can change in a heartbeat.

Even Fox News is being Fair and Balanced..

Of course the fundementals of the economy are strong for John McCain, he's married to a $100 million money tree. While Americans are losing their only house he has seven. But hey he was POW for 5 1/2 years. He was the 'only' POW wasn't he?
A Rothschild is supporting McCain? Hm, isn't that nod a mark of approval from... an elitist?
"let Them Eat Cake" de Rothschild is a noted PUMA who hoped to have an ear to the White House.  Obama and Clinton are better without her.  Maybe she can win the "who has the most houses" contest.

This twit calling Obama "elitist" is rich and deserves the all the Bronx cheers it's getting.  "That's a no lady, attsa my wife" by Evelyn Rothschild (not Waugh!)
My only hope is in Obam-Biden. Should the GOP win, I will move to Canada for they will completely distroy this country.
Palin needs to forget about the UN for a while and focus on dealing with trooper gate.  Trouble in Yemen is probably welcome news to the McCain/Bush people.  Anything to distract from the economy helps.
Good for Hillary - but who blindsided her? I agree with what she did...good move.

The problems we still have over there in the Middle East just proves we really need to get the heck out of there...our troops should finally come home...
I would love to see Obama call McCain out for his empty "tough talk."  "I know how to win wars, I know how to get BinLaden," and now the latest, "I've taken on tougher guys."
Haven't we had enough of that for 8 years?
Call him out, Barack! It is empty tough talk.
She got the bounce, now the real support begins.  She is so much better as a potential candidate than Biden in his ongoing failed bids for the presidency.  As for the presidential candidate (which the media is forgetting is the real race),  my money goes for Sen. McCain rather than the one year senator from IL.
McCain/Palin will win !!!!!  Does no one realize that the economy is cylical. Has nothing to do with who is in office.
I'm a  little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

* If you  grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents,  you're "exotic, different."
* Grow up in Alaska eating  mooseburgers,  a quintessential American story.

* If your  name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids  Willow,  Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

* Graduate  from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different  small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

* If  you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first  black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration  drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a  Constitutional Law professor,  spend 8 years as a State Senator  representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the  state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the  United States Senate representing a
state of  13 million people  while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs,  Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't  have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local  weather girl,  4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor  of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a  state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the  country's second highest ranking executive.

* If you have  been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful  daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real  Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress,  and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month,  you're a Christian.

* If you teach responsible, age  appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control,  you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If , while governor, you  staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex  education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter  ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

* If your wife  is a Harvard graduate laywer who gave up a position in a prestigious law  firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave  that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent  America's.
* If you're  husband is nicknamed "First Dude",  with at least one DWI  conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until  age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of  Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK,  much clearer now.
It seems the only difference between The Straight talk Express political team and Carl Rove's tactics was that Rove's bous did a better job of dishing out there lies. The train done gone off the tracks McBush.   Somebody needs to find a little truth in that camp. Well actually keep them lies a coming so people see realize it's the same old song.
I'm a vet, white Christian union member now working in education and a former republican.  I'm feeling the effects of the last eight years and I'm hurting from them.  I believe the war in Iraq was wrong and should be ended.  I want to see the Taliban and Al Quaeda routed and destroyed.  I don't want to see social security privatized and thus destroyed, because I'm going to need it and so are most of my friends and family.  We're not rich people. I'm voting for Barack Obama.
Your reporting is biased and negative to Mrs Palin, while you give super cudos to the Demos.  I don't think this is in the best interest of your viewers.  Mrs Palin will be victorious in November and NBC will learn that the people make the stories not the liberal media.
If "Sinner" Sarah has nothing to hide then why is she fighting the Tropergate investigation so hard now?  Can't she remember that just a few weeks ago she said she welcomed it?  Sounds like another Flip Flop to me!

Join me in e-mailing Rachel Maddow is asking her to call out the Wicked Witch of Alaska for an interview.  The Alaskan Coward says she doesn't blink so let's put that to the test by imploring Rachel to call her out for an interview, woman on woman.  I don't think the Wicked Witch has the courage to face Rachel in an interview!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
Why doesn't the media tell American voters how Obama was elected into his current position?  He only was elected due to his opponents sex scandal.
Of course John McCain couldn't run a corporation, he couldn't even run a small business. You need to know how to use a computer to do that.
Hopefully now the key issues will come into play such as the economy and the plans that each canidate will focus on to get this country out of such a financial mess.  Thus far and I have been following both sides on various media networks I see Obama and have seen Obama constantly talking about the issues of the economy.  Much of this dates back to the primary as we all know he had quite the batle with Clinton.

McCain on the other hand appears to be lacking in ideas, and further only acknowledged late ysterday that we are in fact "facing difficult times".  The same with Palin.  McCai during all his years in the senate voted for deregualtion on a consistnt basis and remember the S & L cisis of the 80's I was quite young than about 20 but my inlaws lost or had there monies frozen during that crisis and they could not afford it.

McCain had repeatedly flip flopped and played the blame game long enough.  He has no real sense of what the average Anerican is going through.

Palin has also flip floped on the troopergate inverstigation and has lied or misrepresented herself to many tiems.  This all goes to character and judgment.

Mcain is lacking Judgment and at ths point character, he is not a man of honor as he has stated so many times and Palin well its hard to know because she doesn't talk to anyone.

I belive Obama and Biden have the best interest of this country at heart.

I just hope th media stops interupting his campaign speeches when Palin shows up for an event, all in the name of ratings.

Suzanne, western NY Obama/Biden Supporter.
End of the Palin Bounce ?  small wonder, since she was announced as the VP pick - the Media - much like a school of Piranha, has been feasting on her...no stone ( of her past ) is being left unturned...which is fine - however I'd like to know when Joe Biden is going to be subjected to the same scruntity ? Or Barack for that matter...?  And why is no one in the media calling Barack out on his flip-flops - ie., He is the "agent of change" - "the outsider"....yet his VP pick - couldn't be more of an insider......
McCain says "I've taken on tougher guys than this before!" Really? Like when he wanted Joe Lieberman for VP and caved to the far right and picked Palin?

Gail, Seattle, Washington

=========

No Gail, like when McCain spent five years a long way from home dealing with a lot of evil men doing evil things to him. You don't think that builds toughness? People like Obama wouldn't last one day in the conditions McCain lasted for over 1800 days.
It amazes me that the Republican ticket thinks it can continue to try and snowball voters with a message of change. Palin and the McCain campaign's handling of the Troopergate issue is taken directly from the Bush playbook - stonewall, blame partisan politics and wait for the story to die. It appears they have even embraced the idea that ignoring a subpoena is perfectly in line with American values. It is my understanding that if the court mandates my presence there, I have to go regardless of the motivation behind it. Since we are innocent until proven guilty in this country Palin and company should cooperate and let the State of Alaska bear the burden of proving she did something improper.
Obama is also proposing eliminating taxes on seniors who make $50,000, I think he should go a step farther and eliminate taxes on the first $50,000 of workers earnings, this gives a big incentive to WORK and will give WORKERS  more $$$ to spend for necessities and things they WANT and this $$$ would be spent in their local communities which would provide profits for local businesses and more jobs for local workers.

----------------------------------------------------

Actually I like the Fair Tax Plan...it taxes consumption rather than income.  It would refund an amount to compensate for the poverty line, but would expand the tax basis to include people who buy goods in our country and illegal aliens.

Unfortunately that quack Mike Huckabee was supporting it so it didn't get a fair shake.
Why are the Republicans trying to interfere with ethics investigations despite Palin's voew to cooperate? Because they hate accountability.
Anyone remember the ad in the '64 campaign of the little girl picking flowers...and then being nuked?  Now THAT ad was several decades worth of sticky! Obama either needs to get his team to do one of those, or get another team.
"Has the worm turned?" I know that's an old saying on par with pigs and lipstick, but the only worm I know is in the Whitehouse(with some pretty wormy pals).
It would certainly be nice to think that voters are shure 'nuff seeing through the Republican BS, but I was hopeful of that in 2000 and 2004 and look what they did; elected the same smirky schmuck and let him continue to drill large holes in the constitution.
Obama needs to K.I.S.S (Keep it simple stupid) with his adds. This newest add which is 2 minutes long may have a message but most Americans will snooze 1/4 way through it. Punish McCain for his gaffs!!! Repeat ...Repeat....repeat until every person that has access to a TV has heard it so many times that even if they switch the channel by the 2nd word they know exactly what your message is. "McCain thinks the economy is fundamentally strong" Ohio needs to hear that...Pennsylvania needs to hear that....Missouri needs to hear that....Michigan needs to hear that...Indiana needs to hear that....Everyone needs to hear that so many times that they repeat even if they do not agree with Obama.
I think Obama's economic plan is great and sure to work, "I'll tax the rich more".  After-all, the rich have no idea how to hide their money and not pay taxes.  Wow, lower taxes, more benefits and deficit reduction?  How about rainbows and bunnies for everyone also.
Senator McCain's comments about, "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" in spite of some back tracking on his part remains true. Capitalism is viable and we will survive this current crisis, like we have others in the past. McCain long anticipated the need for economic reform based on the greed and avarice of big business (well before Obama) was even in politics). McCain's desire for reform is in marked contrast to Obama's quasi social engineering which challenges the basic fundamentals of capitalism and suggests a major overhaul of the system. This might work in Russia and other socialist countries, but not in America.

In terms of the overall reporting that comes out of this website - McCain can do nothing right and the liberal bias where facts are contrued to favor Obama and the cult of personality that surrounds him is appaling and reflects journalism at its worst!

One last thing - I would not discount Palin's influence so readily and assume that we are back to Obama vs. McCain. There are still two months to the election and compared to Biden (who could be replaced with an hollogram), Palin brings a fresh voice one step removed from the Washington establishment and the liberal elites that want to dominate politics. In so doing her influence may restore respect once again for traditional moral values.
We chopped off the head of the feared regime in Iraq and now are dealing with the headless horseman. End the war in Iraq and take the money for jobs cleaning up the enviroment in the USA. Wall Street dosn't treat your money like their money. The floor is missing there like the world trade center 911. Bush & His buddies got rich suppling the military in a phony attack on a country. The rest of us now have 201Ks.
McPain mocks Obama for going to a fundraser during the financial crisis, what was the old fraud doing last week-end , which one of his homes was he at? Of course, it is Obama's fault.  Because Obama didn't agree to McPain's terms for town halls and debates, Mc Pain had to run sleazy attack ads filled with lies.
Mc Pain is a fraud
Rapps, he'll make that pledge if Obama promises not to make  deregulator Rubin  his, nor Frankin 'ruin Fannie Mae" Raines , nor Rev Jerimiah Wright as his spititual advisor, nor William Ayers as Sec of defense. Deal ?
I can not believe that Obama thought last nights million dollar glitter fund raiser was a good thing. The money spent on food and venues with all the alcohol and decorations could have made a huge difference with the situation caused by Ike. Who in the real world cares what these rich Hollywood stars think. They are the people who raise cain when the grapes in their dressing rooms are bought locally and not sent in from France. Those of us who work every day one, two or three jobs to make ends meet are the ones that are disgusted by those jerks flaunting their wealth. Those are also the people according to Obama plan will get all the breaks if he is elected. I am personnaly glad that Lindsey Lohan, Madonna and others are for Obama because they are such lousy American images. I hope all that money satisfied each of those greedy people present so we will not have to listen to who had the better limo or the better Dom or the bigger diamond......These people need to walk in the shoes of a single parent with 3 kids living on $50,000 a year before taxes!!! This was just real sick at this time when our country is recovering from the hurricane and we still hear all the issues from New Orleans to boot....My mind is totally made up after this BIG SHOW OF OBAMA RICH BUDDIES...GO MCCAIN/PALIN
Why doesn't someone tell everyone in the whole USA all the perks that the Senate and Congress get that we are paying for out of our tax dollars?  And guest who controls both - the Democrats.   Thank you
John McCain is so out of touch with average Americans. He is totally clueless. Especially, on economic and domestic issues. And, his foreign policy positions scare the heck out of me.

Not only is Sarah Palin ignorant on policy of any kind, I also believe she is a habitual liar. She isn't worthy of being selected anyone's vice-presidential nominee.

It's clear what the country needs right now. Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Please vote and let's take this country out of the past 8 years and put it in the right direction again. This is a very important and serious election.
Hillary backing out of a NON-PARTISAN protest against Iran and its terrorist regime just because Palin will be there is nothing short of cowardly. Democrats and republicans should be there (including the Anti-war movement protesters.)

Hillary obviously cares more about pleasing her left wing colleauges than standing up to IRAN.

This proves that, in reality, the right woman made it on the national ticket

Jewish Voter now for McCain/Palin
Look, McCain had a horrible day yesterday because he didn't know what his Commerce Committee really does, he had his own camp claiming he invented the Blackberry when he already said he doesn't know how to use a computer, and he confused an acronym that became the initials of a racial slur. McCain is continuing with the Bush ineptitude and people love it. The want the guy in the white house to be an idiot and then complain when we have to live in the CRISIS fallout. Go ahead and vote for McCain if you want to...but don't come crying to me when gas goes up to 5 dollars, we pledge a billion dollars of Chinese loans to Georgia to rebuild their infrastructure( IKE and Katrina aftermath can wait), or when the "deregulator" deregulates some other industry with disastrous results. Don't whine about it when he goes on television citing why we need to go to war with Russia or nuke Vietnam or institute the draft. I dont' want to hear it Bush/Cheney/Palin/McCain voters. You got exactly what you wanted....another Repub idiot in the white house screwing the American people for 4 more years. Why should the Repub party change?...Voter just keep voting them in...no matter how bad they screw up.
Greed is bad,who was president when the S&L went belly
up?  Clinton!!!!!!!!What was the economy like when Carter was president, I remember!!! we will get through this too.  However, if we elect B.O. as prez
he will take from the rich give to the lazy poor.
Wake up poor people don't create jobs rich people do.
It is an easy concept to figure out.  When you tax the rich, they just eliminate jobs (the poor). Economics 101 lesson for the day.  Tune in for more...
Oil companies outsourcing jobs?  That has to be an all time stupid remark. (gentleman from Louisiana)
=====================
No, what the article said was "oil companies AND corporations that outsource our jobs" -- two different groups.

There are no silver bullets to end our dependence on oil from the Middle East in the near term. The mid- to long-term solutions will include a variety of things like wind, solar, nuclear (if we can figure out a way to deal with the waste), clean coal, natural gas, oil shale, etc. But it seems to me if we're to end our dependence on oil the longer-term solutions shouldn't be related to oil.
After only a week, the McCain/Palin "bounce" is gone. It happened even without any new events from the Democratic side; it just faded away as easily as it appeared.

What now? Reality is likely to set in and voters will realize that it is not a two-faced politician and his "mate" that we need, but a NEW DIRECTION for the country. We must reject "more of the same" and opt instead for "change we can believe in." Obama/Biden is the Change/Experience team and is already leading the country forward.

Did you notice that Bush and McCain have both been following and imitating Obama? That should tell you something!
For those with an attention-deficit:

Re-read the first section above!  There is a blurb near the end about the attack in Yemen.

Yikes.  No wonder we've had an idiot in the White House for 8 years!!!!!

Buncha non-reading REGRESSIVES (Republicans)!

Toodles! (and have a GREAT day!)

:)
Can anyone tell me what Senator Obama did as a "community organizer?"  Since that is his sole qualification in terms of leadership ability, I'd like to know just what he accomplished.
Enough of this POW rantings. My husband was also incarcerated in Vietnam ..he was tortured and had to endure an unbelieveable hell...but he also escaped...rejoined his friends and fought again for America, until he died in battle. He was a proud but gentle black man, and I am a WASP woman....with two silver stars to remind me of his bravery and his love for his country. It isn't fair to laud Senator McCean's incarceration as bravery....in my eyes, it was a duty.
"Poor Hillary. Did Sarah scare her away from the protest? I guess now she can stay home and make cookies for Bill. "
That type of thinking is what makes America look ignorant to the world.
If we can't have Hillary, I'll gladly take Obama.
Obama-Biden '08!
McCain is so out of touch with reality.  How can he say we are fundimentally sound when we're falling apart.  We need some real CHANGE in the White House, someone who cares about the USA.  Not someone who cares about using a woman to hold him up, which after the thrill is gone, will collapse under the weight.
McCain seems to believe the answer to the ongoing financial problems in the US is to convene a "9-11 type Commission".   That would take 2-3 years at the earliest to determine that we have a problem.
Please, please, please don't vote for Obama.  He's so weak.  Can you imagine him going toe to toe with someone like Putin?  Bill O'Reilly made him look so weak.
Anyone fooled by McCain's rhetoric about oversight of financial institutions should google the KEATING 5.  He got away with a "POOR JUDGEMENT".  Do you really want the fox back in the henhouse?
