New poll: Obama up 3 in Virginia

A new Washington Post/ABC poll has Obama leading McCain in the battleground state of Virginia by three points, 49%-46%. Inside the numbers:
-- "Among Obama's biggest advantages in the poll came on the question of who would do more to shake up Washington. On this measure, a clear majority said Obama would do more, despite McCain's efforts in recent weeks to position himself as the true reformer."
-- "Overall, 59 percent of Northern Virginia voters support Obama -- very close to the 60 percent number Democratic strategists identify as crucial, and the level Kaine and Webb achieved in their wins.
-- "In Hampton Roads, an area Bush won by four percentage points in 2004, 50 percent of voters surveyed back Obama, while 45 percent support McCain. African Americans account for about three in 10 voters in Hampton Roads."
-- "Half of all Virginia voters named the economy as their top concern, and they favor Obama by a nearly 2 to 1 margin."
-- "Although voters split over which candidate can best manage the war in Iraq, McCain holds a 10-point lead on handling terrorism or an unexpected major crisis."

I see another tape of Bin Laden by Rove Pictures release soon.....
I'm keeping the faith....there's too much at stake....Obama/Biden 08
A poll a month ago had Obama up 5 in Montana.  These numbers don't mean anything.  This is the first poll showing Obama in the lead in Virginia.  Obama will not be able to overcome voters who are not going to vote for him based on race and  he will lose in November.  We all know people lie to pollsters.
"Hey "Independent in Michigan", you've got too much time on your hand. Do you seriously expect somebody to waste time on your essay ? "

Keep it up Independent; I read it. Don't discourage him Frank; it might keep him off the street. It is filled with an incredible amount of mis-information, slander and lies. It is fascinating to be able to see how the crazies think.
This is an astonishing turn around.  However, democrates had better be careful because Americans are typical have short term memory.  I also noticed that when Sen McCain holds his rallys, he has to read from cue cards; what's up with that?
As a Vietnam veteran with a Meritorious Unit Citation,don't get me started on McCain and his record with veterans. We need a leader:
• A leader for the change that this country so desperately needs, not the kind that voted for Bush-backed policies over 90% of the time;
• A leader with the vision to see that the Iraq was short-sighted, ill-planned, and, in fact, the wrong war to fight shows a keen and courageous mind. Obama’s post-war (we’re post-war, aren’t we…with our military mission accomplished long ago?) plans include a responsible draw-down of military troops, while keeping security forces in the region, a plan that has been welcomed by the Iraqi government. I believe that even President Bush now subscribes to a similar plan;
• A leader who truly supports our troops and veterans actually casts his votes to show that support. John McCain voted against Senate bills to update, reform and enhance veteran benefits (including basic healthcare) in 2003, 04, 05, 06 and 07 (all post 9/11, and in the midst of the sacrifices of our troops in the Global War on Terrorism). This dismal record earned McCain a 20% approval rating from the Disabled American Veterans and the Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans of America, while Obama’s voting record garnered 80% approval.

The very survival of our returning veterans depends upon the election of a leader who truly supports our troops……and has the voting record to prove it.

What a shame....someone running on his merits as a veteran and..........shames them when it's voting time. Shame on you Mr. McCain.
First of all the polls are probably not completely accurate.  Do they account for the newly registered voters?? Obama's campaign is working hard to keep registering as many voters as possible.  I think that we will win.  I think we have the numbers and will probably win some states less expected even if not all the states we would like.  I think Obama will win the electoral and popular vote and we will have an opportunity to take our country back.  I can only hope that we will continue to be actively involved in our government when this election is over.  We must participate in our relationship with the media and our government.
Virgina is coming around afterall. If Obama wins Virgina he will win this election.
Why would anyone think that McCain would handle a terrorist attack better than Obama ? Do they think an impulsive reaction would be better than a carefully thought-through response ? We'd be lucky if McCain would not nuke the wrong country - let alone the right continent.

R U serious!!!. Do you really want a president who offers to shake the hand of a terrorist organization, and provide gov't aid to such terrorists(Obama) Instead of using the millitary to defnd our country(Mccain). No wonder why Obama is so popular in natioms like Iran, Suadan, Libya, Somallia.
I am confident that people will not believe the misdirection you spewed, no matter how long your comment is. You just wasted your time with your attack, at least on me.

In fact, I think I will go donate a little more money to Obama now.
Fix the Broken

That's it follow the lemmers over the cliff, and give more money to line Obama's pockets. Well at least you are guaranteed a free cup of Kool Aid with your Obama vote.
