The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll will be released at 6:30 pm ET, but here's an early look at one set of numbers:

Forty-nine percent say that Palin is unqualified to be president if the need arises, compared with 40 percent who say she's qualified.

By contrast, 64 percent believe Biden is qualified to be president, versus just 21 percent who disagree.

40% think she IS qualified? I assume these are the Ron Paul constitutionalists who are interpreting "qualified" as age 35 or over and American-born...
It should also say that those 40% think anyone is qualified to run the country.
The more people know about Palin the more the unqualified number will go up. The Palin choice was the nail in the coffin. Unfortunately for McCain he allowed the social conservatives to make his choice, and what a joke it is.
Boy, 40% of Americans are idiots.
Thank You!  Finally VOTERS ARE WAKING UP and THINKING!
"First Dude?  Can you cut down the trees in the side yard?  ...I need more foreign policy experience."
What percent say Obama is unqualified to be President?  The last poll on this topic had Palin and Obama about even.
Seriously ? 40% believe Palin would be ready to be president ? Well, 31% think George Bush is doing a great job - so those are lost individuals ... but the other 9% I cannot understand ! If too many voters think somebody like Palin would be qualified, we as a nation are too incompetent to live in a democracy.
This should come as no surprise given her background as the mayor of a town of 6000 people and governor of a state with only 600,000 population (1/2 that of tiny Hawaii).  She simply hasn't paid her dues like other women politicians who do have background experience and credentials.  McCain's campaign know this too, thats why they are trying to hide her in a "cocoon of silence" from probing questioning from the media.
America is not blind and it is seeing beyond reasonable doubt how political and irresponsible this selection was by John Mc Same,..it is time for a new beggining for america.....a change we need. Go Obama?Biden 08.
Thats not surprising. I think sometimes politicians underestimate american citizens and how in tune we are to issues that affect us. We understand that something could happen to each candidate(if they became president) and the VP would be a vital role to the continuity of that party's objectives.
Has anyone bothered to ask the folks at the McCain camp if these numbers are correct?  I mean, really guys, is there any point in putting out these new poll numbers if the McCain camp thinks they are wrong?

Gosh, I know I trust all of McCain's lobbyists -- I mean campaign staff!
Well DUH!  She barely seems qualified to be Governer of Alaska.  How many days was she actually in her office in Juneau???  vs. how many days did she bill the taxpayers sitting in her home in Wasilla???
It appears McDesperate's little trick, Carrabou Barbie, didn't fool too many people for very long.  The more he hides herfrom the press, the more obvious it becomes that she's an inexperienced twinkie. You gambledand lost, John-boy.
This country is in a lot of trouble and we need strong leaders,I dont think Sarah Palin is up to the task of running this country, should something happen to Mc Cain.I  think Mc Cain would do a fair job, but i think Obama , and Biden would do much better.
I am voting for the people that i honestly beleive will be better for the country, these are scary times, and if you are not paranoid, you are not paying attention.
Well, this just shows that a bubble is a bubble. The debates will unlikely help Palin either so her numbers will continue to drop.
Well duh. Biden actually knows foreign leaders, unlike Palin, who thinks having Kissinger's autograph makes her qualified. Oh yeah, and she can see Russia from her house.
DUH!
Well...duh!
Obama/Biden '08
The poll questions need to ask about ones ability to gut a Moose.  These pollsters are so obviously biased, elitists and sexists.  When's the last time Biden gutted ANYTHING!?
49% say she's not qualifed because she's clearly the most inadequate canidate in modern history. Her nomination is lauphable!
What's the difference between a pit bull and an unqualified VP pick?

Lipstick.
John McCain insulted the American people with his choice of VP done only for politcal reasons. Governor Palin has that moose in the headlight look wondering what in the world is going on around her. Political experience in Alaska only qualifies you for mor political experience IN ALASKA!
