GOP to air TV ads in Indiana

From NBC's Chuck Todd and Mark Murray
First Read has learned from TV ad-buying sources that the Republican National Committee's independent expenditure unit is active again. And it will launch a nearly $5 million advertising blitz beginning Tuesday in Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and -- get this -- Indiana.

This is the first evidence we've seen that the GOP is now targeting the Hoosier State, a state Bush won 60%-39% in 2004.

I'll see your $5 million and raise you $50.00 X 2.5 million individual donors.
Spend it Barrak!
Checks in the mail!

The Republicans are in trouble, and if McCain doesn't stop the bleeding tonight it could get worse.

Rasmussen today has Obama up by 5 in Virginia.  Even North Carolina is almost even.  If we are talking about North Carolina in play on election day, McCain is in big trouble, and it may have downballot problems too...
oh man! it's all over for mccain if he needs to advertise in indiana. TOAST
Hey Chuck - When are you guys going to start talking about how some conservatives – are suggesting that Sarah Palin resign as John McCain's running mate?

Due to the bad interviews they are beginning to question her ability and claims she is out of her league and not suited to be VP.

I mean when she was first announced you guys had her all over the place -

How bout it?

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
FIRST READ CAN YOU PLEASE FIND OUT IF ITS TRUE THAT MCCAIN IS ALREADY RUNNING AN AD SAYING HE WON THE DEBATE, BEFORE THEY EVEN STARTED, IS THIS A JOKE?

I TRUST YOU GUYS WITH THESE THINGS?

THANKS
...so what?

OOOOOOOH that must mean he's SCARED!!!

please...
They need to run some in Missouri and see if the Commie thugs try to come after them.

They better add North Carolina, too. It's all starting to slip away for McCain.

So tell me again why McCain suspended his campaign? Nothign is fixed in Washington, he did not stop airing ads, and he is going to debate.

What a joke!

You know what? I don't care where John McCain is running ads. After all he's put the American people through the last couple of weeks, I have to seriously think whether or not I'd want to live in a country where the citizens would actually vote for this man. What a disaster!
Hey First Read,

How come I had to go to CNN's Political Ticker to read about John McCain's ad stating he won the debate he hasn't even had yet?

Hmm . . . could it be because Obama is doing well there and the GOP is running scared?

They should be . . . with McCain/Palin turning into a side-show the GOP is sensing a major defeat in November.
All GOP operatives are hereby instructed to clip all deodorant coupons from this Sundays inserts.  Looks are everything.  JMc

YEAH!

And when are you going to start talking about Biden's ridiculous comments this past week???
I just hope Senator Obama pounds the Republican Party all night long, step by step, on their policies during tonite's debate. My goodness they're so incompetent and have been for years and years and years. Corporate greed always won the day with them.

Just how stupid do you have to be to bring this country to the brink of 1929 all over again.
FYI - A lot of people didn't know that GOP and Republican are the same.
GOP=Republican.
Please don't run any in PA, we like the brave new pac ad with you releasing your health records to us so we may not end up with a lady who can see russia from her back door!!!
I think it will be a matter of weeks before we see the McCain campaign pull up stakes in Michigan, Colorado and Pennsylvania.  With his campaign now having to focus more advertising money on Indiana and Virgina (states he should be winning) McCain is going to have to start picking his battles- i.e. Ohio, Virginia and Florida
How come you have not rported that Kathleen Parker, well known conservative columnist and activist who was one of the first major supporters of Sarah Palin has asked Sarah Palin to step down because she is out of her league. And that if BS were money Palin could resolve the economic crises all by herself. You guys better check this out and report on it. Plus the plane and bus carrying Mccain no longer has Palin's name on it. Wha tare you guys doing? Sleeping?
WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD PRODUCT NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT IT THE PRODUCT IS STILL BAD.
Oh, but wait... I thought that lying son of a gun said that he was suspending his campaign until a deal was struck on the bailout.  Another lie.  When will it ever end?
Ugh, this means the poor people of Indiana will be subjected to lies and smears, thanks to the RNC.  My apologies to you poor Indiana residents.
It won't work. Not after this past week. I would love to see the map turn completely blue on Nov. 4. Next they'll put adds in Arizona and Alaska as well.

America wake up!
Maybe Mcain shoud debate Palin they both should discuss our relations with  Russia
Hoosier Democrats are smelling desperation.  And there's no better scent than scurrred Republicans pouring money into our economy.  Bring it on!

Maybe another check to Obama is in order...
Why are you calling them the GOP? They are Republicians. Are they ashamed of being a Republician?
That is interesting all by itself. Are they dropping the(R)? Who are they ashamed of or is it just the entire party itself?
That's not a good sign for the McShame camp.  If he has to spend that kind of dough in a state that is commonly red, he's in big trouble.

johnny come lately, this guy is a complete waste of time, too late in indiana, my wife and i have been regestering voters there for months, and plan to go there to take the elderly to the polls on election day!!!
barack has all kinds of folks working there, john does not have any offices open there, there are not visiable in the areas of indy, gary, and southbend,
john the voters need to see YOU, not your ads.  but on second thought, run your lying ass ads, they seem to be working for barack obama!!!
Hahahha..the repubs think the american people are so stupid...the other day lot of bloggers were saying watch...they will blame the dems for delaying this...hahahha and today they are doing just that..trying to get McDipChit out of a hole that he created.  This is just tooooo funny.  Guess they think the American people are as stupid as they were four years ago when Bush got in.  Well guess what repubs...we're not.  Again...a few days ago Warren Buffet the richest man in the world said the plan was a good one...hmmm he must know something...he deals in economic issues all the time...  I think a lot of this was to take attention off Palin....
I actually saw a McCain ad for the first time here in Indiana Wednesday morning during the Today Show.  He's getting worried, and with good reason...Obama's got a great GOTV organization here.
They should also redouble their efforts in FL, NC, MO, and CO. This election is so OVER. Wish we could just vote tomorrow and make Obama POTUS
The GOP should not spend their $$ on Indiana. The state is so full of ingnorant red-necks that Mcain will probably win the state.
Elitist Alert!!!

The McCain's drink starbucks!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out the pic!

They might want to run ads in every state. Polls show Montana is leaning McCain. Thats a laugh, I have talked to several who might have been at one time but they are not anymore. Obama and Biden have campaigned in Montana. Missoula, Kalispell-just to name a couple.
Most people say that they have never been polled.
It's WISH TV in Indianapolis apparently.  Obama won Marion and adjoining upper income Hamilton County in the primaries and remains strong.  If McCain really wants to rally his base he needs ads on the Louisville and Cincinnati stations that blanket southeast Indiana.

This transplanted Hooser is amazed.  If Schmidt feels they need to advertise heavily in Indiana, something's up and it's big!

OMG I just read this.  I guess this is what he means when he says that he's suspended his campaign.  This campaign has really become the theatre of the absurd.  If I were a superstisious person, I'd say he just jinxed himself.

Seriously.  If he wasn't such a complete lying a--hole, I'd actually feel a bit sorry for him.

Obama/Biden '08!
It has been so much fun working under the radar in Indiana. Darn those poll numbers that show Obama even with McCain in Indiana. Yes, it will be very close in Indiana. I wouldn't be supprised if the winner has a plurality of...less than 1,000 votes.

The real question is which works better:  Ads (with lies) or foot soldiers.  I'm putting my nickel on foot soldiers knocking on every farm house, foot soldiers comparing Obama and McCain's position on Social Security.  Foot soldiers saying people are not better off now than they were 8 years ago.  Damn, it has been fun working under the radar.
Indianapolis, hometown of David Letterman I believe!
Wow, if they are worried about Indiana then its over.
I can't wait to come to this website on Nov 5th, after the silent majority comes out and rejects a socialist agenda, to see what you guys are spewing.

You know, there was a time I would have laughed this off as some sort of internet hoax or rumor.  But given McCain's track record it wouldnt suprise me if this is true.
Go Obama.  Stay away from Missouri with your lies RNC.
What Sen.McCain is doing is highly entertaining but it is not good for the country.
We can see he is a gambler but is this good for our country. He picks Gov.Palin out of th eblue and she is sinking fast. Then he pulls this stunt about suspending and saving DC. None of which worked.
I am left with thinking Sen.McCain is rash and reckless and that is not what I need in a President. We need a smart, calm and confident President, who we can trust. We will get that with Sen.Obama
With Sen.McCain, we will be in for a roller coaster ride and I have no stomach for it after eight years of Bush.
Proof positvie that McCain missed the boa this election on grass roots organization.  If Indiana falls, there's no way McCain wins.
In some parts of the world , the initials GOP must never be used for republican party. I think it has been in school books for a long time.
No word on if Obama is spending money in states that Kerry won! but then when we are trying to make an underhanded point we don't need to look at the other side of things
Hey - don't knock the poor people of IN - they are not as stupid as the Repukes think.

I saw were a group of citizens (maybe 200 or so) and they were asked if they were republicans.

Most said they would rather "drop dead" than be brand as a republican.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA

Hmm why is Montana called the big sky state? they ashamed of the name Montana?
These guys must think that they are in trouble.  To spend that in those states, it seems to me that they are worried.
McCain can apologies all he wants at the debate and try to use the economic crisis as a sticking point. However, the same  can be said about the billions of dollars we are spending each month for an unwarranted war that we're also close to spending a trillion dollars.  At least with this crisis, IT'S HOME. IT'S HITTING EVERYONE ON MAIN STREET. Either way it looks bad so it's best to stop the bleeding on Main Street and give people a good nights rest and look to the future.
