Obama-Biden statement on bailout

Here's the Obama-Biden statement on the failed bailout bill:

"This is a moment of national crisis, and today's inaction in Congress as well as the angry and hyper-partisan statement released by the McCain campaign are exactly why the American people are disgusted with Washington. Now is the time for Democrats and Republicans to join together and act in a way that prevents an economic catastrophe. Every American should be outraged that an era of greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street and Washington has led us to this point, but now that we are here, the stability of our entire economy depends on us taking immediate action to ease this crisis," said Obama-Biden campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

O bite me Obama, it was your boys Frank and Dodd that got us into this mess !
I am so sick of listening to his anti american lies ! He should go play with his pals wright, farrakan, ayers and resko. Just shut up and go away !
Mr Obama the Democratic party gave you all the credit for writing this bill why did 92 of them vote against it?What is happening?
Once again, Barack is the one showing calm, intelligent leadership, while the McCain camp is running around screaming and behaving like the spoiled children they are.  They need to just stop pretending that McCain ever "suspended" his campaign- none of his local campaign offices closed, the ads continued to run, and his VP candidate and his surrogates never stopped their hate-filled, lying tirades.  There was no suspension, and HE is the one that is playing politics in this most serious of times.

Thank heavens Obama and Biden are continuing to provide leadership, while being smart enough to stay out of the way while members of the House try to pull things out of the toilet!
Obama is the steady hand in rough sea !

God protect us from McCain, his superstitions and his erratic decisions!
The Obama statement read: "We don't understand a thing about the bail out, it's above our pay grade, our advisors will give us something more to read to you shortly, it's the Republicans fault, Hope, Change, and all that stuff, vote for us.".
Why does Obama always sound like the grown-up and McCain sounds like the emotional teenager?
This statement will help move things along.

NOT!!
As I understand it, each side was supposed to come up with their majority for it to be bi-partisan effort and the Republicans failed to honor their part of the agreement. While I can certainly understand their argument - did they provide a viable alternative or funding solution? Weren't the items they wanted listed in this agreement listed? This is one more case of the Republicans pledging to do one thing and doing another. Too bad for America..too bad for US...
While McCain tries to salvage the "good ol' boy" network, Obama and Biden recognize how sick the rest of the country is of doing business that way.  We're ready for change, not angry exchange....bring it on OBAMA/BIDEN!
either those in the house who did not vote for this bailout for the wealthy and connected and powerful who caused this meltdown and the rescue for the american taxpayer who will suffer must more severely than the mccain/bush cronies, either these representatives do not believe there is a crisis - to the contrary of the stock market, value of the dollar and businesses collapsing, or they voted purely on a partisan and their own political gain, me first not country first.
That is leadership McCain... get some.
The republicans should come back with an offer to go along if the democrats that caused this sign a confession and resign while they await trial.

RIGHT ON OBAMA/BIDEN! And if the House Repubs will stop acting like petulant children, maybe we can get a resolution to this crisis. Americans will not stand by and continue to allow this do-nothing congress to... well... do nothing.
Very presidential statement.
Dear Republicans: After my Mets lost 120 games, all I could say at the time was that it was a team effort. No one or two guys could have done it all.

The financial crisis we have at the moment is the work of many. No one person could have done this. Least of all Pelosi/Obama. They're just trying to fix what the GOP messed up over the last many many years.
I agree. Everyone is trying to blame the dems and Pelosi when the republicans with leader McCain did not deliver the votes that the republicans promised. Not to mention that the republicans deregulated the markets for years and now they are being praised for not backing the bailout. please wake up. The republicans are saving their skin because of re-election. I don't believe for one minute they care about the average voters because they want to continue to de-regulate the markets as well as healthcare. They also want to provide tax cuts to the rich. This isn't country first when the majority of americans are middle class and are struggling. Second, people praise the failing of the bailout bill, then think about your 401k, healthcare, payroll, jobs and retirement. All of your savings is tied into the markets. When the markets fail so does your finances.
We (federal government workers) remember the Repubs similar hissy fit in the 90's that forced us to work for 2 weeks unpaid! We will remember on Nov. 4 also!
Take a look America. Take a good look on how the Democrats are handling this problem. Pelosi shows zero leadership, can't even get a bill passed after saying all weekend she could. She lost out with own party by losing 40% of her own Democratic votes. Obama doesn't have a clue whats going on. Look at this message he just put out. Is he for, or against the bailout? You can't tell. He just babble on that 'Something should be done, Something should be done!" The man is like Chicken Little. Watching Democrats in action is like watching someone herd cats.
Seems the Obamessiah couldn't even deliver the Democrat votes.  Just saying.
At least Obama is taking the "maverick" by the horns as someone should, we all know the media won't do it because they've imposed a censure on themselves when it comes to the McCain campaign, they're afraid they will no longer be allowed to gaze upon "The One", meanining Sarah Palin.
Someone needs to leak the tape of the Obumbler blowing up the meeting last friday too.
...maybe if they had a pie-eating contest.....
Time to elect Obama, then replace Pelosi. She did us no favors today.
My (our) next president is speaking! Listen up!
Is there a LEADER out there among us.  Anyone...?  Anyone...?
McCain was blaming Democrats for the bill's failure, yet it was his own Republican Party that voted this bill down. Maybe McCain can take a little of this money and buy himself a clue.
That right Barack - John McCain is full of crap and even Domenico knows it.

It's amazing to me that the McCain campaign put out a statment blameing Obama for "injecting politics into a serious crisis." And blameing him for killing this bill. So McCain goes back to Washington 40 days from the election...is ineffective in pulling his OWN party together and thinks that blaming his opponent for the very thing is guilty of is going to play well with Americans. Wow he must really think people are stupid and I for one am appalled.
Smell that?? I believe it's Republican fear coming this way! Afraid they are going to lose their seats, so they voted "no".......guess what? They're going to lose their seats AND the White House! Laughing all the way to nov. 4th!   Obama/Biden '08/'12
I guess a lot of the Dems in congress don't have enough faith in obama or pelosi to push it through !
Right on Lauri Smalls!

I have one question for everyone who voted against the bailout plan.

What's your solution to this financial crisis?

Voting no without a solution is bogus!
Obama sounds, acts, looks, thinks, and appears more presidential than Bush or McCain ever did or ever will. Instead of McCain issuing a statement telling Congress to put their differences aside and get back to work, he immediately placed blame. Which, makes him look even more stupid since he was supposed to come to the rescue.
John McCain and his campaign personnel (future Presidential advisors in a McCain administration) is so very impulsive - "suspending" the campaign, coming out quickly and blaming Obama and the democrats to further impeded bipartisan efforts, etc...  I truly feel that the impulsive behavior, such as this, is a very dangerous trait.

I'm truly scared of a McCain presidency - truly.
I think one of the main problems in getting a resolution to this issue is the fact that the average person can't comprehend the full impact of what will happen.  Wait until that person can't get a loan or their employer calls a meeting to tell them they won't be getting their paycheck this week.  So far it's been rather abstract - now we'll start to feel it.  The very last thing we need is a clueless, out of touch McCain running things.  Thank God for Obama!
It was Pelosi who was hyper-partisan. Today was not the day to send blame, it was a day for bipartisanship, and Pelosi showed she could not control herself. She needs to go. And by the way, the Democrats control the house and could have passed the bill had all of them voted for it.
"O bite me Obama, it was your boys Frank and Dodd that got us into this mess !"

Yes, I read that blatther in another thread - it happened during 2000 - 2006 while the Democratic minority in Congress thwarted good intention and hard work by Bush, over and over? I remember that. Wait. No I don't. I remember a rubber stamp Roman Senate that gave Bush ANYTHING he wanted, so which bill was it that Frank and Dodd rammed down the GOPs throat that caused all this (that the MBA president was completely blind-sided by) or are you quite delusional?
McCain can't do anything else but blame Obama. That's the only thing he does well. Funny how while the vote was going down McCain was on TV taking credit for it. But the moment it fails its Obama and the democrat's fault? Kick these bums out. They don't give a crap out the middle class.
This is a crisis I believe, but they can't get together until Thursday probably will have to postpone the DebateI can only hope they are not playing politics.
You know, it really is sad.  The country in crisis and Republican supporters on this board can think of nothing better to do than yell, scream and hurl insults across the isle.  How about calling your representatives and telling them to lose thier hurt little feelings, take their medicine and get this thing done.  Seriously now, grow up Republicans and for once, do the right thing for Main Street and quit worrying about your hurt feelings.  This happened on the Republican watch so take your medicine and get it fixed.  NOW!
Typical Obama garbage. Talk about bipartisanship while ripping into McCain. He talks out of both sides of his mouth.
McCain went to Washington and Obama "caved" and went due to pressure. Now McCain is calling him on it.

If the shoe was on the other foot, Obama would have done the same thing.

GET OVER IT! (Eagles)
“Campaign First” McGambler’s spin doesn’t support the facts as usual:

Vote breakdown:

                YES       NO
Republican       67       135
Democrat        139        94
I don’t understand…. we are gladly wasting $10+ Billions per month in Iraq alone….which is going down the drain…without including the precious life of our men & women….

But these Republicans cannot agree to save our own economy… Shame on you…

“Step Up”, Show some intelligence…
what the hell is wrong with republicans? 70% opposed this vote! They created this mess and now want to run away from their solemn responsibility!

throw the bums out!
In response to "Enough Obama!"
Hey, its a free country, you have every right to voice your opinion, but if you want to vote for McCain, vote because he is making the right decisions.
Seems like you don't like Obama for all the wrong reasons.
Quick send Sarah, she can see the Wasilla bank from her house.
