McCain: It's the hard-knock life!

Posted: Friday, October 03, 2008 9:17 AM by Domenico Montanaro

"Asked why Obama has been rising as the Wall Street crisis has dominated attention, McCain said with a chuckle on Fox News Channel: 'Because life isn't fair.'"

The AP notes McCain struggling to defend the bailout and that he "surprised some by not speaking about it on the floor of the Senate as the vote went down Wednesday; just a week earlier he announced he was suspending his campaign to rush to Washington to deal with the financial crisis."

Or John it could be because enough of my fellow Americans have finally come to their senses and realized they've been conned by the the bushleague and they don't see any differences between a first mccain term and a third bush term...it could be that huh John

Unbelievable.  The contempt for the struggling American middle-class is brazen, and shameful.  Can anyone believe that this guy is polling above 20%?

The best thing we can do in hard economic times is to raise taxes on both people and on companies. Everyone knows that the governemnt knows better then individuals on how to run businesses.

Obama and Biden in 2008

Enough is Enough!
Yes We Can!
I'm Against Phrases That Don't Mean Anything!!
Peopel are suffering and losing their homes, crying out for real change from the Bush administration...

Life sure isn't fair to the senior Senator from Arizona!
You make your own luck and "Whiner" McCain has only himself to blame for his own bad luck.  He's made stupid decisions that he'll have to pay for, like picking the most clueless idiot possible for his running mate.

He said he likes to get into the trenches yet it was Obama who spoke in the well of the Senate while "Bush Hugger" McCain phoned it in with a small statement on paper.  "Tailhook" Johnny was too afraid to get into the trenches the other day to make a speech on the bailout bill.

"Flip Flop" McCain can't even keep his story straight as he voted for a pork laden bill and supported it and attacked it in the same interview yesterday.  He's Dazed and Confused and the Straight Talk Titanic has hit an iceberg and is sinking in it's own hubris.

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
He didn't speak on the Senate floor?  Seriously?  Who is running this campaign?  Did Obama get ALL of the competent campaign operatives this time?  "All talk" is preferable to "all sitting there not saying anything."
Personally I feel its because he doesn't understand whats going on!!  Isn't he the one who stated this?  Probably better he just keeps his mouth quiet on the economy subject.  Which is why Obama is ahead.  McCain doesn't get it.
Obama/Biden 08'
McBush didn't speak about it because he's treading a fine line here, trying not to tick off his far-right base, but still appearing responsible enoughto voteforthe bailout.  To bad be has such a rabidly pro-laissez-faire Capitalism base, but that's the GOP's problem, not Obama's!
Life ISN'T Fair!!!!   What an attitude for a Presidential Candidate!

GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!

A RABID REPUBLICAN NOW FOR OBAMA/BIDEN
No, what is not fair about life is that we on main street have to pay for the mess this "maverick" and his cronies gotten us into.  Then we have to watch his shenanigans over the last two weeks, and then the grandstanding.  Then he did not even speak out about the bill on the floor!  And he would lead us to believe that as President he would veto this bill.  Because of all the earmarks on it.  But he voted  yes because he felt he had no choice.  So what is different between now and 5 weeks from now.  Not much, except he wants to win the election.  And to think that until two weeks ago I was going to vote for McCain.  He has turned into such a shell of his former self, I barely recognize the man I used to admire.
Why did McCain vote for this bill?
Wasn't this bill loaded up with pork or earmarks?
Does John McCain believe what John McCain is saying?
Is this the true meaning of maverick?
Yesterday, McCain's comments on Morning Joke shows he does not understand the problem, let along the solution. Again we saw an example of dementia.
Tell the truth for once McCain, "because I am a liar and people don't like it"...LOL
Well, when he did speak it was to hope that the prez. Mr. Bush, would veto the bill he just signed.  Go figure.. onward with the confusion and chaos.

How about this for a more truthful answer.  "Because I tried to score political brownie points by making it all about me.  I wasn't interest in 'Country First', just making myself look presidential.  Meanwhile, my opponent took the thoughtful, deliberate approach that has been lacking in myself and my party.  The people responded to that, and now I'm trailing in the polls and having to pull out of Michigan.  Furthermore, my VP pick is proving to be a real dud who can only remember the talking points that I give her, and can only regurgitate stump speeches in her one and only debate.

"Gee, I guess life is fair."

Obama/Biden '08!
I bet mccain's first wife says the very same thing on a daily basis!
Americans are losing their homes, their life savings and all McCain can think about is his career.  On top of that, he still can't see that it was he and his cronies who caused this disaster, Mr. De-regulator!!
Thanks but No Thanks, Wink wink!! what is that suppose to mean , Palin?  Was that some type of code to alert others of your inner clan workings? How does Alaska represent mainstream america?  last time I looked out my window I did not see any moose to hunt for food!!! There is not tons of oil resources to tap , unless you tap someone else car!!! Wink , Wink, i guess being so close to russia , has given you many ideas as to run a goverment under investigation?  Sounds like you know about foreign policy to me, cover up after cover up!! Make bold stupid demands, and then run for cover when being investigated!! yea , thats reform!!
I think he has just given up, like Bush. His heart is not in campaigning anymore. Just look at his body language, he looks extreemly tired. He is just waiting for the election to be over so that he can go back to doing what he used to be doing.
John McCain might ask himself if maybe the American people are seeing through his /Palin lies. I have been going to factcheck and most of McCain/Palin talking points are at the very least misinformation if not ought right lies.
Life isn't fair for you, huh John?    Would it be more fair for you if we quit looking back to see how we got here like Sarah said and continue down the same path of the last 8 years?  Sorry...90% of the same path.  Would it be more fair to you if we ignore the facts of what the republicans have done to us, the economy, our world standing and let you continue the Bush policies?  Because when I walk into the voting booth and cast my vote I want to make sure that I know what I have to do to be fair to you....especially since everything your party has done (sorry, looking back again) has put me and our country in such sound shape.

So really.  Which is it?  Do we put our country first by learning from our past or do we be fair to you by ignoring it?
McCain is exactly right!!! What irony. McCain goes on the Senate floor to try to reform Freddie and Fannie and warns of the consequences, the Dems argue that there is nothing to worry about and vote down the proposal. Obama sits on his hands and does nothing, and now he benefits from the collapse that McCain warned about. We have 30 days to inforrm the public about what really happened, because we know the media won't.

PS- Did anyone see O'Reilly tear Barney Frank a new one last night? We need more people like him who will call out these phonies.
People are starting to understand that the McCain health care plan will raise taxes on families and small businesses, and drive millions to the point where they get health care only by going to the emergency room.  At least his advisors can continue to claim they are covered that way.
This guy really believes the presidency is owed to him.  I'm just glad to see that he is off his ridiculous right wing assertions that the media is to blame for everything that goes wrong in his campaign.  Still sounds like whining to me though...
"Life's not fair."

Anybody else have coffee streams running down their PC monitor from the reaction to reading that quote?

There's gotta be some napkins around here somewhere...
Remember John, what goes around, comes around.  I'm sure your first hasn't felt like things have been fair for her either.  She had children to raise after being disabled and a husband running around on her.  Then he abandones her for a younger woman with money.  Wonder how 'fair' she thinks that has been.  Then the poor woman gets 'sued' by the very family that abandoned her.  No,John, 'Life is not fair'.
Wow, Obama & Pelosi are lying!  They blame the economic mess squarely on the Republicans. Yet, when Biden mentioned it in the debate, fact-checker called him (and therefore also Obama & Pelosi) on it.  From the VP debate fact accuracy MSNBC article:

BIDEN: Complained about "economic policies of the last eight years" that led to "excessive deregulation."

THE FACTS: Biden voted for 1999 deregulation that liberal groups are blaming for part of the financial crisis today. The law allowed Wall Street investment banks to create the kind of mortgage-related securities at the core of the problem now. The law was widely backed by Republicans as well as by Democratic President Clinton, who argues it has stopped the crisis today from being worse.

Now wasn’t Clinton a Democrat…..
As the Obama camp says .... McCain is out of touch!  Life isn't fair?  That's hard for folks w/ no jobs or who are loosing their homes or who can't afford gas to swallow this ridiculous statement.  How many houses?  How many cars?  How much money??  The only thing worse than the McCain/Palin arrogant and disrespectful campaign is acting like a whiny toddler when they don't get their way -- oh, and possibly that WINK (gag)!  McCain is delusional, as usual!

I'm voting for the SMART one!
Obama/Biden 08 and beyond!
John go cry me a river life unfair whats unfair is how the last 8 years the middle class have been robbed by bush and his goons
McCain is the one who talks big about cutting pork yet voted for a bail out bill that includes about 1 Billion of add-ons that have nothing to do with the 700 billion dollar bail out. When asked about this by Joe Scarborough Mccain had little to say except for thats the way Washnigton works. By the way, the add ons where placed in the bail out bill to satsify REPUBLICANS and to get them on board.
It's not the wall street crisis; the American people are figuring out John McCain, his outright lies, his tricks, his complete disregard for the middle class and their problems.
When a candidate for President is reduced to rationalizing adverse circumstances and his own poor choices, it's time to send for Dandy Don Meredith:

"Turn out the lights – the party's over."
Peopel are suffering and losing their homes, crying out for real change from the Bush administration...

People are losing their homes because they were too stupid to realize that they couldn't afford a $300000
house with a $40000 income. And now our government says it's everyone fault because now everyone has to pay.

John McCain has not presented anything that suggests his presidency would not be just Bush 3.
That's what he told his first broken wife.  heckuva job, johnny.
To bad be has such a rabidly pro-laissez-faire Capitalism base, but that's the GOP's problem, not Obama's!

So can you tell us all where socialism has ever worked? In your response please start with Cuba, and work your way down to the Soviet Union.
I think the second paragraph is the more telling as to McCain's problems. He made a big grandstand play about suspending the campaign to deal with the bailout, and over and over we here these reports about how he just didn't do much once in Washington.

He came across as both erratic and ineffectual, not to mention the way he may have undercut his country first message with independents because its a nearly universal perception that he was trying to score political points off this crisis.
Or could it be, John, that people have finally woke up from their last 8 years of hibernation to realize you have nothing to offer the American public other than 4 more years of the same failed Bush policie? Think that might be it?    Obama/Biden '08/'12
With that kind of comment it cements the feeling that it's about winning 'the prize' that matters most to McCain.
McCain doesn't get it!!  Life IS fair sometimes, like when the voting public holds a political party accountable for its failed policies and positions that have lead our country to the brink of ruin.
Was it that he couldn't say anything nice or was going after Obama in the Senate speeches?  I think that it could be that he wanted the bill to fail.  McCain wanted it to look like the Democrats failed to do anything and blame them.
Hey, lets not raise taxes ever and just spend and spend and spend. Following the Republican economic system we can just become a province of China. The last 8 years of Republican economics have drivin us into debt and all they can say is "no more taxes", "give the oil compainies a break", "cut all that spending on the old, on education, on the poor", "yeh, we really know how to govern", "let the world know that we are the toughest". Those Republicans sure have the best way to go! They sure know how to run the world, the economy, small businesses. Let's just keep a good thing going and vote for them again.
