Palin attacks Obama with Ayers

At a fundraiser in Denver today, Palin attacked Obama in some of her harshest comments since being selected as McCain's running mate -- bringing up Obama's tenuous ties to '60s radical William Ayers.

Palin's comments came as the McCain campaign finds itself trailing in national and key battleground state polls, and after major newspapers reported that the McCain camp plans a major offensive on Obama's character and past associations.

"This is not a man who sees America as you see it and as I see America," Palin said today. "We see America as the greatest force for good in this world. If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for, for all of us."

She then continued, "Our opponent though is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

But as the New York Times reported today, Obama was never "palling around" with Ayers. "A review of records of the schools project and interviews with a dozen people who know both men, suggest that Mr. Obama, 47, has played down his contacts with Mr. Ayers, 63. But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called 'somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.'"

Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan fired back at Palin. “Gov. Palin’s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign’s statement this morning that they would be launching Swiftboat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation’s economic ills. In fact, the very newspaper story Gov. Palin cited in hurling her shameless attack made clear that Senator Obama is not close to Bill Ayers, much less ‘pals,’ and that he has strongly condemned the despicable acts Ayers committed 40 years ago, when Obama was eight. What’s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy."

I always knew that as the election slipped away from them McCain/Pale in comparison would always get ugly.  She is pathetic.  She is so dumb she has no idea how offensive it is when she trivelizes huge issues with stuff like "there have been some fumbles and bumbles the past eight years."  McCain blew any chance he had when he picked her.  I've spoken with many who will now vote against McCain because of Mrs. Pale-in-comparison.
The Straight Talk Express and all their substance. Keep it up and watch the gap get wider.
In law:

When the facts are on your side, argue the facts.

When the law is on your side, argue the law.

When neither is on your side, attack your opponent.
Sounds like more Ayerheaded McCain campaign strategy!
"Obama owes his CAREER to Ayers, his FIRST JOB as head of the Annenberg Matching foundation, his START IN POLITICS!"

Dude, before you start spewing crap, get your facts straight. Do you even have a clue what the Anneberg Foundation is? It is a charitable family trust founded by a well respected Republican Nixon crony who was appointed Ambassador to Great Britain by Nixon. It supports mainly public school systems to the tune of over 5,200 grants, which total in excess of $2.8 billion.

Wow...how left-wing radical is that?

It is telling how republicans cannot run on their disasterous record so they once again have to make their opponent the boogie man. It will be interesting to see if this same old republican tactic works again.

For America's sake I hope that it blows up in McCain and Palin's faces.
Isn't this unbelievable...Palin/McCain obviously don't have anything good to tell the american people.  This is how they spend their time and money.  This only confirms my thoughts about those two.  Running scared and will do anything but tell the truth...My republican vote is going for Obama...I can't take those two liars any longer....
Obama barely knew Ayers, but Palin was totally involved in her church and with the crazy, witchcraft exorcising pastor.  Someone needs to start attacking Palin and questioning how closely her views coincide with the more radical views discussed in her church.  She paints a pretty, scary picture, and people need to know that they may be electing a person with some radical, fundamentalist religious beliefs.  Come on, media......Do your job!
You can fill the casket lid closing on the McCain/Palin campaign. They are throwing mud at the wall & hoping something sticks. When you can't win on the true issues that face our country ie. the economy, healthcare, Iraq, Wallstreet you start playing the hide the shell game. Now you see it now you don't. The American people are to smart for OLD DESPERATE TRICKS.
