Lynne Cheney on Palin, 'Dark Side'

At a time when the race for the vice presidency is at the top of many voters' minds, NEWSWEEK's Tammy Haddad sat down with the wife of the man who currently holds the job.  Haddad asked Lynne Cheney about her thoughts on Sarah Palin, her husband's love for fishing, and the tough new book about his role in the war on terror.

"I was really stunned when John McCain picked her," Cheney said of Palin, who she says she has met once.  "But then I saw her at the convention. That speech she delivered, honestly, I've seen a lot of politicians, I've seen a lot of people who are very polished, who do their thing just right. But what she has is that air of 'This is who I am.' The authenticity comes through."

The Second Lady added that the immediate flurry of criticism about Palin galvanized supporters who rushed to her defense. "I think there's a great core of good common sense in the American people," she said. "When that attack was so vicious and so over-the-top it's almost as though it insulated her, because everybody said, 'You're saying what?' So people gathered around her."

During the sit-down interview at the Vice President's residence, Cheney also weighed in on a new book from New Yorker writer and investigative journalist Jane Mayer. In her book, "The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How The War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals," Mayer paints Dick Cheney as one of the main masterminds of "a policy of deliberate cruelty that would've been unthinkable on Sept. 10."

Describing most accounts of her husband's life as "distortion," Cheney said that Mayer's depictions of him as a secretive, behind-the-scenes puppet-master simply are not accurate. "She's got Dick spending a considerable amount of time down in a bunker somewhere with all of these, I don't know, communications," Cheney said of Mayer.  "It's not true. Most of the time when Dick was in an undisclosed location we were either here or we were at Camp David."

If Sarah Palin become President, Todd Palin will be Vice President. God helps us.

... OBAMA'S "ECONOMIC JUSTICE" IS THE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH ----

THROUGH SLICK "TAXATION" OBAMA WANTS TO TAKE MONEY FROM THOSE WHO HAVE WORKED FOR IT and EARNED IT --- AND GIVE IT TO THOSE WHO HAVE NOT.

OBAMA CALLS THIS 'ECONOMIC JUSTICE' ... JUST CALL IT 'SOCIALISM'.

IT'S CLASS WARFARE.  THE SCAM WORKED IN RUSSIA --- DON’T LET IT SUCCEED HERE!

Gosh...golly gee...shucks
Here we go again… the Republican are running scare let bring the shovel...……They mismanage the economy, lie about the  war,   destroy the middle class, destroy our international reputation,.. Had these idiots done anything right ?   Can wait for the election to see Bush/Cheney and the republicans go.. They can now use their own time and money looking for the weapons of mass destructions….ja ja   What a joke   Just remember America…. REPUBLICANS  =  R  =  RECESSION
Lynne talks about Dick not being secretive. then that sould open the door to askwhat is it about America that Todd Palin hates so much that he wants to secede from the union. What  great Americans they are, she(Sarah) must agree with his views.
Quote from "Blah blah blah": As far as insults go, Obama supporters are the worst.  They get on here every day and post the most vile things (i.e., mocking McCain's military service, saying that McCain is senile or has dementia just because he is older, calling him names, etc.).

You know what?  I find it truly disappointing that such an inspirational leader as Obama has been unable to convince you guys that it is really unnecessary to spew such words.  Honestly, it makes me question how effective is as a leader and therefore how he will be as President...
----------------------------------------------------
HERE is the difference, you simple-minded GOP puppet:

Obama is the first to say that smear campaigns are not welcome in his camp, and he will not actively participate in any such activity.

In severe contrast, McCain and Palin have gone out of their way to PERSONALLY slam, slander and denigrate Obama AND Biden's characters.

WE can say anything we want about your "candidates", if you can even call them that anymore, because it is our constitutional right to do so, and NOT because it is reflective of Obama's leadership, it's because we're sick of the LACK of leadership from the last 8 years and we DON'T want it for the next 4, thanks very much.

Lynn Chaney is as arrogant and cunning as her husband...who has to answer to a higher power with the evil wicked push for this war.
No one cares what she has to say....she is not relevant just like her husband....can't wait to see the back of all of these Republicans!!!!
As for Sarah Palin she needs to keep her trashy little mouth shut....talking about Rev Wright..AGAIN..
and she who has had a laying of hands on her, done by a Pastor who beleives in Witchcraft..P..L..E..A..S..E.
MAVERICK McCAIN and GOSH DARN SARAH....GO AWAY!!!

Palin Palin, Palin….."Dark Side".  she can criticize Obama …. What a joke
Please America , this is the person that  has a preacher praying over her to protect her from witchcraft.
Do we want to elect a Vice-president   that embarrass all public servants with her Trooper Gate and her refusal and her staff's refusal to cooperate.
Please America!!!!   Do we want to elect a president that he's wife is a drug addict ?  What type of association is that ?  What example can provide tom our kids….

Do we want to elect a president that left  he's FIRST wife because of her health condition? What type of person would do that ?

Do we want to elect a Vice-president   that her husband belong to a group advocating Alaska secession from the United State ?

Can we really afford to elect a president with a "psychiatric condition" such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?

Do we want to elect a president  that take  antidepressant medications? ....... Shoot first ask later?? Like Iraq

I just watched Andrea Mitchell do a interview regarding the Ayres/Keating 5 topics.  After the Keating 5 discussion, she immediately gave a defense for McCain, yet gave no similar defense for the Ayres issue.  Though she is much more subtle than many, I see this with Mitchell over and over, subtly slanting for McCain.  I know everybody at NBC thinks she is a God, and I know they never print any criticism of her, but watch her and it's often slanted reporting.
Please not Palin!!! We have had enough of Bush (and Blair) Lets have some sense into the U.S of A.
Once again, you guys give a LOT of press to a issue which could be allowed to die w/o your help.  The weekend pundits even said that McCain got what he wanted with them talking about Ayres.

Why don't we hear any of them talking about Palin's witch preacher or the the 7 people who are now going to testify in Troopergate?
Here you go, Palin - the bulldog of McCain.  Now you are showing your teeth to bite your opponents.  What a shame!
The Republican =R = Recession are so much better now that they have the  Cheney endorsement……. McCain loves the endorsement...
AUTHENTIC?  Authentic brass or pyrite, (fool's gold) perhaps.  Sarah Palin is an empty vessel.  How about letting someone like Couric interview the "First Dude"?  I'd pay to see that one. Perhaps he could enlighten us on their interest in Alaska's secessionist party?  Wait, doesn't that fall under the category of "domestic terrorist"?  What a farce the Republican ticket is!
