Biden: Say it to his face

ST. JOSEPH, MO – Joe Biden echoed the campaign’s response to continued Republican efforts to highlight Obama’s past associations, adding a personal touch to the idea that McCain wasn’t willing to make the attacks in person.

“All of the things they said about Barack Obama in the TV, on the TV, at their rallies, and now on YouTube … John McCain could not bring himself to look Barack Obama in the eye and say the same things to him,” Biden said this morning. “In my neighborhood, when you’ve got something to say to a guy, you look him in the eye and you say it to him.”

Biden, who arrived on stage in St. Joseph to chants of “Joe! Joe! Joe,” urged the crowd not to be distracted by McCain claims, saying that every “false charge, every baseless accusation is an attempt to get you to stop paying attention to what’s going on in this country and what’s going on in your lives.” And on the issues that matter, he said, McCain is offbase, particularly on his newest mortgage plan.

“The McCain campaign continues … to lurch from one place to another trying to convince you all that they’re capable of dealing with the incredibly difficult problem,” he said. “Now he’s gone to the point of actually wanting to reward banks and lenders for their greedy behavior. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a steady hand.”

Biden said that Democrats’ plans focus on the middle class, arguing that when the middle class fails, “America fails.” That’s not to say, he cautioned, that he has any problem with the wealthy.

“God love them, they’re patriotic folks,” he said. “I hope my grandchildren end up being rich people so I get a window with a view when they put me in a home. But look, all kidding aside, wealthy people do well, when? When the middle class does well.”

*** UPDATE *** McCain spokesman Ben Porritt replies, “Barack Obama and his running mate should worry about explaining to the middle class why they refuse to support John McCain’s plan to keep American’s in their home. Biden should look the American people in the eye and explain why Barack Obama supports raising taxes for middle class voters making as little as $42,000. Joe Biden must explain Barack Obama’s ties to a domestic terrorist and other radical organizations like ACORN. The turncoat salesmanship by Joe Biden isn’t enough to erase Barack Obama’s dismal record and poor judgment on critical issues facing the middle class.”

Hell Yeah Joe!!! McCain is a coward~!
What we gained in the last 8 years that is worth a decatrillion dollar debt?
In my neighborhood, when you’ve got something to say to a guy, you look him in the eye and you say it to him.

Damn right.  It's like I've been saying... I think that McCain is actually ashamed of his campaign and therefore won't take that kind of rhetoric to a debate.

"Respectable campaign" my a**.

Right on, Joe!!
MSNBC.  I watch your channel every day, all day, but this morning all I get is this McCain/Palin rally.  You sure did not give Obama's rally this much time.  I am now watching CNN just to get away from the McCain bull#@*%.  Why are you not showing Biden's rally instead of just reporting on it.
So much for the LIBERAL media!!
Republicans don't get it! It dosen't matter how "Clean" the car is when the engine fails!! We cannot continue to seek "honorable victory" in a war we should NOT have waged in the first place; while the ECONOMY of our nation continues to sprial downhill.

Ask the Republicans to give us their "Plan" to win the "War" when the country sinks into depression and our creditors start asking us to pay for the war machine "UP FRONT"!!
Thats right Biden is a man unlike the Former Maverick McBush hiding behind his wife and Palins coat tails.
I'll say it to Biden's face. Him, and the one at the top of his ticket, are the biggest set of liars this country has ever seen.
Is First Read experiencing "cutbacks" too? Why are the posts not getting done?
Careful Joe, even with his bad arms, McCain will still wipe the floor with you.

==========
You go, Joe!  Call McCain/Palin out for the cowards they are.  While you and Obama talk about solutions, they bring up accusations then cower behind their surrogates.  This is what little kids used to do in school back in the day, toss some slur out about someone, then run home to momma afterschool before the person can catch them.  It's time for what we used to call a "fair one" back in my school days and bring these cowards out into the playground.

Obama/Biden '08!

You are so right , we are hurting right now. Biden you keep up the good word
McCoward do something beyond the call of duty?!  Hahaha.  He didn't try to escape from his POW location like many fellow officer did.  He didn't have the character to deal honorabley with his first wife...he committed adulery.  All the jerk of a little old man has ever done is look out for himself and build a false personna to enable his pursuit of power and more rank than daddy and grand-daddy.
