First thoughts: One more Ayers-ing

*** One more Ayers-ing: With the news that the RNC is up with an Ayers ad, running specifically in states that share the Chicago media market (Indiana and Wisconsin), it appears the McCain camp and national party strategists are letting their split personalities show on how to go after Obama. It seems that each day this week, there's another decision made on how hard to go after Obama on the subject. This week alone, we've seen both ratcheting up and ratcheting back. With the RNC deciding to split the difference -- hit him for Chicago connections and Ayers in states that might actually "get" the negative image the phrase "Chicago pol" is supposed to conjure up -- it'll be an interesting test to see if they get decent traction. Now the McCain campaign is up with its own Ayers ad. The risk in all of this, of course, is looking out of touch in the current environment where the country's entire focus is on the economy. Already, we're hearing whispers -- even among some Dems -- wondering why the McCain folks decided to use Ayers now and not two months ago when they instead went the empty rhetoric/celebrity route.

Video: NBC Political Director Chuck Todd offers his first read on the McCain campaign continuing to question Barack Obama's connection to William Ayers versus addressing the economic crisis.

*** Speaking of the economy: There is a two-prong strategy right now inside the McCain camp: hit Obama on character and try to start a conversation on the economy on their terms. At the debate earlier this week, McCain pushed his plan to have the government buy up bad mortgages in an attempt to prop up home values. The good news for McCain: His idea has enough legs in this current environment that it is getting some coverage and there's a real debate between the two campaigns about the idea. The bad news: Most of the coverage of the plan is negative, in part because the Obama camp is hitting the idea hard and because some conservatives aren't thrilled with the idea of more government money being involved in this financial bailout. McCain's not getting the credit right now they were hoping to receive for attempting to come up with new ideas for the economy. Obama's not exactly pushing a lot of new plans these days -- instead he’s reiterating some principles he's been saying for months. He's basically riding the wave of voter discontent with the Republicans on the economy and trying not to offer up too much that could somehow change the dynamic of the economic debate. Ultimately, there's a one-word answer for McCain's problems: Bush.

*** What’s wrong with the GOP? At yesterday’s McCain-Palin town hall in Wisconsin, one attendee remarked, “We’re all wondering why that Obama is where he’s at, how he got here. I mean, everybody in this room is stunned that we’re in this position.” With McCain trailing and Republicans poised to lose more House and Senate seats than previously expected, that questioner isn’t the only one wondering what’s wrong the GOP. Today, David Brooks performs a pre-autopsy pinpointing the problems at the GOP’s current anti-intellectualism/elite tilt. “[Palin] is another step in the Republican change of personality. Once conservatives admired Churchill and Lincoln above all — men from wildly different backgrounds who prepared for leadership through constant reading, historical understanding and sophisticated thinking. Now those attributes bow down before the common touch. And so, politically, the G.O.P. is squeezed at both ends. The party is losing the working class by sins of omission — because it has not developed policies to address economic anxiety. It has lost the educated class by sins of commission — by telling members of that class to go away."

*** Minority Report: Expect to see a lot of Republicans and conservatives to begin the pre-bituaries now in the hopes that they strike upon a solution early that somehow works to salvage either McCain or a few House and Senate candidates. Among some GOP strategists, there is some real nervousness that if things are as dark politically for the party on November 4 as they look now, the party could be in the minority for a half generation (12 years or so) -- not just two or four years. Six months ago, the "in" historical analogy for this year was 1980. That analogy may be making a comeback. After all, Reagan just didn't win in 1980, but Republicans picked up 12 Senate seats (some, seemingly out of nowhere), and the Republican run began where they controlled the House, Senate, or the presidency every single year sans two between 1980 and now. The prospects for the Dems on their gains in the House and Senate continue to rise. Literally, as the Dow drops, so do the poll numbers for House and Senate Republicans -- it's directly related. If the election were held today, Democrats would probably win more House and Senate seats this year than they did in 2006. There's always time for things to turn around a bit. But if Democrats actually win seven-plus Senate seats and 30-plus House seats, the GOP will be at historically low levels in both chambers. And what makes this remarkable is that in the House, it will be in GOP-drawn districts where Democrats make these gains. With redistricting coming up in two years, well, you get the picture. It's getting ugly fast for the GOP.

*** How much money do they have? Another reason for the GOP’s current woes -- and the Democratic Mo’ -- is that Democrats have better utilized the internet and the post-McCain-Feingold fundraising system. Just yesterday, we learned that Obama has purchased 30 minutes worth of time on network TV for October 29. That begs the question: Just how much money does the Obama campaign have now to spend? We’ll find out those September fundraising by as late as October 20. (Did he top $100 million for the month? That's the rumor). As that University of Wisconsin Advertising Project made clear, Obama is outspending the McCain camp in battleground states -- big time. However, the GOP is attempting to make some hay out of the loophole some small donors have found by faking their names in their donations to Obama. While it likely won't get serious legs this campaign season, it should spark some reformers to demand more transparency and accountability for donors who give less than $200.

*** The nattering nabobs of negativism: How worried should the McCain campaign be about these rowdy crowds that McCain-Palin receive (and it's really Palin that draws them since she's the one who fires folks up)? The media isn't going to cover these rowdy crowds as "enthusiastic" supporters -- but instead as nattering nabobs of negativism. More coverage and more coverage is being given to what these attendees are saying. The "what if an attendee says..." has got to be entering the minds of Nicolle Wallace and Steve Schmidt as they prep their principals each day. We're betting McCain or Palin has a ready line for lecturing an over-the-top supporter, which at this point seems inevitable.

*** Going nuts over ACORN: In recent weeks, the community organization ACORN has quickly joined the ranks of Rezko, Ayers, and Wright on the list of what the GOP considers nefarious Obama associations. The RNC routinely blasts emails reminding reporters of allegations that the group has collected fabricated voter registration forms, including the news this week that investigators raided its Nevada headquarters. House Minority Leader Boehner demanded that Congress axe the federal "slush fund" that goes to ACORN's mortgage and foreclosure counseling arm. And Palin jumped into the fray yesterday, calling Obama’s characterizations of his ties to the organization "curious.” Those ties? As a civil rights attorney, he represented a group of housing organizations, including ACORN; he worked with a group called Project Vote, now allied with ACORN, during the early '90s; and his campaign had to amend an FEC report earlier this year to reflect a payment to an offshoot of the group. As the Ayers episode has taught us, Obama opponents will seize on any tie -- tenuous or not -- to make him look suspicious.

*** Is it really voter fraud? ACORN has gotten itself into trouble, as it did in 2004, because its workers -- some who are homeless and ex-felons -- get paid for registering voters, and that in some cases leads to these workers turning in bogus forms. But is that voter fraud, as Republicans suggest? Not really, voting experts tell First Read. For one thing, it's highly unlikely that these fake registrations actually get added to the rolls. And if they do, it's doubtful that Harry Potter, Han Solo, or Haywood Jablome would actually show up at the polls. The big problem these bogus forms present, says voting expert Doug Chapin, is that they gum up the process of approving legitimate registrations -- especially at a time when there have been so many new registered voters.

*** Troopergate back in the news: McCain has continually highlighted Palin’s reform credentials on the campaign trail. "I can't wait to introduce her to Washington, DC,” he says. But the lingering Troopergate scandal in Alaska -- in which Palin has been accused of firing the state’s public safety commissioner because he wouldn’t dismiss a trooper who was her ex-brother-in-law -- has served to cast doubt on those credentials. At 1:00 pm ET today, per NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, the Alaska legislature’s legislative council committee will convene to consider its report on Troopergate and vote whether to make it public. And if it looks anything thing today’s New York Times investigation into the matter, it could prove to be embarrassing. “[A]n examination of the case, based on interviews with Mr. Monegan and several top aides, indicates that, to a far greater degree than was previously known, the governor, her husband and her administration pressed the commissioner and his staff to get Trooper Wooten off the force, though without directly ordering it. In all, the commissioner and his aides were contacted about Trooper Wooten three dozen times over 19 months by the governor, her husband and seven administration officials, interviews and documents show.”

*** On the trail: McCain remains in Wisconsin, holding a rally in La Crosse before heading to a town hall in Lakeville, MN. Obama continues to campaign in Ohio, hitting Chillicothe and Columbus. Palin visits a community-living center in North Olmsted, OH. And Biden attends a rally in Springfield, MO.

Let's talk about the economy and just a side note...a story that America has not seen...

try this one on ugh...Vogler founds AIP in the 70's

to fight for  secession...

in 1993 he is killed trying to buy plastic explosives for domestic terrorism for said party's beliefs

in the wake of his being murdered...

1994 - AIP draws up the constitution to secede from the US

Todd and Sarah Palin attend.

1995 - Todd Palin officially joins AIP to become a 7-9 year active member...

2000 - Palin attends again.

2006 - Palin is still so "inspired" and supportive of this secessionist group, she gives the keynote speech.

2008 - Palin video tapes her support for this party.

this party was founded on the beliefs of secession and the same values that Vogler was willing to kill people over.

unrepentantly.

values and beliefs that in the year they were mourning his death adn drawing up a constitution Todd Palin was inspired to join... and Sarah Palin obviously found their values compelling enough to support and attend their conventions.

ugh
Okay Senator Obama, time to lighten up on the McCain bashing for a while.  Get back to the issues, your leadership, positive change and hope.  Just let them cry themselves to defeat.  They are not going to drag you down in the polls, and don’t let them drag you down to their level.
Like every other shaky position he’s taken on the economic crisis, McCain’s analysis of the root cause of the problem has completely changed over the course of the last couple weeks.  On September 15, John fumbled around for a message after the weekend Wall Street meltdown.  In the morning he repeated his well-worn stump line that the fundamentals of our economy are strong, only to abruptly shift a couple hours later and call it a crisis in which the fundamentals are at great risk.

John went on to assign the blame, saying “they are threatened and at risk because some on Wall Street have treated Wall Street like a casino.'' "We're going to reform the way that Wall Street does business and put an end to the greed that has driven our markets into chaos. We'll stop multimillion-dollar payouts to CEOs that have broken the public trust."  Later in the week he decided the real culprit was the chairman of the SEC and called for his resignation.

On 60 Minutes the following Sunday John was asked: “In 1999 you were one of the senators who helped pass deregulation of Wall Street. Do you regret that now?”  John responded: “No, I think the deregulation was probably helpful to the growth of our economy.”  But then he went on to characterize Wall Street as follows: “It's basically a Ponzi scheme, as you know, that sooner or later was gonna collapse.”  Huh?

Now John wants to tell the wide-eyed children among us a very different story.  Instead of the greedy Wall Street CEOs or chairman Cox, John has found a whole new cast of villains.  John now claims that the entire global financial meltdown has been caused by Fannie, Freddie, the sinister ACORN, and in a shocking surprise; Barack Obama!  Simple stories for simple minds, I guess.
How worried should the McCain campaign be about these rowdy crowds that McCain-Palin receive (and it's really Palin that draws them since she's the one who fires folks up)? The media isn't going to cover these rowdy crowds as "enthusiastic" supporters -- but instead as nattering nabobs of negativism.
****************************************************

Thank you!  Negativity breeds negativity.  No good can come from these types of crowds...

Hate and Fear...two of Satan's biggest tools in the box...John needs to perfect these before Nov.4th..
Chuck Todd, please check the latest poll numbers.  I think the latest polls have WV up for Obama.  I know it is only 5 electorial votes but every one counts.  This state went to GWB 2 times, but in past has always been Democrat.  This is great news.
Yes First Read, it's really voter fraud when you register people to vote that should not be registered. Be it they are not legal residents, not legal citizens, and/or do not exist and are dead. I know this a problem that Democrats can't comprehend, but really, you should at least try to see why what ACORN does is wrong.
In Letter to 'NYT,' Man Who Prosecuted Weather Underground Hits Linking Ayers to Obama

By E&P STaff

Published: October 10, 2008 9:00 AM ET

NEW YORK Surprising a letter to the editor published in th New York Times today, the chief prosecutor of the Weather Undeground in the 1970s expressed outrage over the linking of Barack Obama to Bill Ayers by the McCain campaign, adding, "Although I dearly wanted to obtain convictions against all the Weathermen, including Bill Ayers, I am very pleased to learn that he has become a responsible citizen."

William C. Ibershof also corrects a charge in the Times: "I do take issue with the statement in your news article that the Weathermen indictment was dismissed because of 'prosecutorial misconduct.' It was dismissed because of illegal activities, including wiretaps, break-ins and mail interceptions, initiated by John N. Mitchell, attorney general at that time, and W. Mark Felt, an F.B.I. assistant director."

Felt, of course (you may have already forgotten) was also known as a guy called "Deep Throat."

The full letters follows.
*
As the lead federal prosecutor of the Weathermen in the 1970s (I was then chief of the criminal division in the Eastern District of Michigan and took over the Weathermen prosecution in 1972), I am amazed and outraged that Senator Barack Obama is being linked to William Ayers’s terrorist activities 40 years ago when Mr. Obama was, as he has noted, just a child.

Although I dearly wanted to obtain convictions against all the Weathermen, including Bill Ayers, I am very pleased to learn that he has become a responsible citizen.

Because Senator Obama recently served on a board of a charitable organization with Mr. Ayers cannot possibly link the senator to acts perpetrated by Mr. Ayers so many years ago.

I do take issue with the statement in your news article that the Weathermen indictment was dismissed because of “prosecutorial misconduct.” It was dismissed because of illegal activities, including wiretaps, break-ins and mail interceptions, initiated by John N. Mitchell, attorney general at that time, and W. Mark Felt, an F.B.I. assistant director.

ACORN does anybody know what the "R" in ACORN stands for?.....REFORM...who's the big reformer in this election....John McACORN...
After Tim Russert died. I really went into a funk because in my opinion we lost a great truth teller. My husband reminded me, "we still have Keith Olberman, Chuck Todd, and Anderson Cooper..." True. Thank God. The problem is Keith is preaching to the choir, Chuck is hit or miss with these posts, and Anderson Cooper seems to have lost his way after the Katrina coverage ended. I know this probably won't get posted because I mentioned another network. Anyway....

During the past week, the McCain campaign has become the most delusional, dishonest, slimiest, most racist campaign I've her seen. And while you and your collegues pretend to be SHOCKED, SHOCKED, SHOCKED -- you are furthering contempt for Obama and advancing McVain. MEDIA (I mean the real journalist -- right or left) THAT IS NOT YOUR JOB. Your job is to report the news both sides.  That means when McShame says something untrue or distorted or racist about Obama, YOUR JOB IS TO ASK A COUNTER QUESTION (this applies for both candidates). When McCain digs up Ayers, and Wright, and PAST drug use, your job is to yes...AND Isn't Cindy McCain a drug addict? What about G. Gordon Liddy, Keating 5, Alaska Independence Party (the "I hate America and don't bury me under that damn flag" club to which the Palins belong), Wasilla Witch Doctor, Abortion doctor shooter (McCain supporter), the Annenburgs (McCain supporters and owners of the foundation Obama and Ayers worked on)??? My list could go on and on. But that's YOUR JOB MEDIA.  WHERE IS THE REAL -- NOT THE FAUX -- OUTRAGE!

Thank you!
" a ready line for lecturing an over-the-top supporter, which at this point seems inevitable."

"Inevitable?" How about "already happened?" Are you saying "Kill him" ISN'T "over-the-top?" Exactly what are you waiting for – the sound of gunfire at a McCain rally?

McCain and Palin appear perfectly happy with the prospect of violent reactions to their hate-and-smear campaign appearances. They should be ashamed.
What's wrong with the GOP?  Oh that's easy, they're a bunch of crooked hate mangers with their heads stuck in the past.  They have lied to us for almost 30 years about Voo Doo economics that have left us regular Americans all wet from the wrong kind of Golden Shower.  They have stolen from our children's and grandchildren's finanical future to give big tax cuts to the rich and greedy who never deserved or needed them.

I just love hgearing that Obama/Biden is buying up a block of time on national tv to strut their stuff.  Yup the repugnant ones are going to have money envy big time and after November 4th they'll be crying that "Nero" McCain didn't go with private financing.  Isn't it ironic that the repugnant one wasted $85 million taxpayer dollars to lose his race while Obama went with private financing just like a good capitalist free market entrepreneur?

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
McCain is in big trouble right now and he knows it. Its unbelieveable the once safe states that he's losing right now. Even here in my state, Utah, the local NBC station has Obama up in an email poll conducted this week. Keep up the good work Obama!
And still no major articles/stories about the various McCain/Palin connections with unsavory characters and organizations.  And very few remarks regarding this topics get printed in the Comments section.

Surprise! Surprise!
"John" Wilkes Booth
"John" Sydney McCain

two "Johns"...you draw the conclusion...
Liberals just can't comprehend how bad this Ayers terrorist fellow really is. I guess in many ways, liberals agree with much of what Ayers believes.
I HAVE "ALREADY" VOTED FOR THE NEXT PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES... OBAMA/BIDEN. IT'S NOW YOUR TURN. VOTE EARLY AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO VOTE "EARLY".THIS WILL BE THE "LARGEST" VOTER TURN OUT FOR ANY NATIONAL ELECTION IN OUR HISTORY. 25 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY.
I want to hear about Troopergate!  That's far more relevant to judging the Wicked Witch of Alaska's honesty and integrity.  We now see how the crooked team of McCain/Palin would operate in the White House, they'll blow off any investigations into their activites and them create their own sham investgation to whitewash their evil activities.

Only Obama/Biden will bring real honesty and integrity back to the White House!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
McCain/Palin=LIARS, We have had enough of the Bush/Cheney form of government by fear. As a nation we have the lowest foreign approval rating ever. In a time of global importance we need a government that can work together for economic as well as security concerns. The ONLY Answer is Obama/Biden!!!!
Hate and Fear...two of Satan's biggest tools in the box...John needs to perfect these before Nov.4th..

Bill (Hussein) Jones (Sent Friday, October 10, 2008 9:47 AM)

For a minute there I thought you were talking about the way the left has gone after Palin.
To John McCain: "At long last sir, have you no shame?" Anyone remember the McCarthy era and the attempt to criminalize citizens based on very tenuous or non existent associations?  What IS it with the Republicans that they never seem to learn this lesson?

You have a Republican Vice Presidential Candidate associated with a Secessionist party, which should be considered TREASON, and all we can do is talk about nonsense.

The economy is in the tank, McCain is showing daily that his health should preclude him from the Presidency, not to mention his judgment in picking pathetic Palin for VP.

And all we talk about is the 60's.
Now that's funny!  Thanks Chuck for the reminder of how dumb the Republicans are.  I hope this has legs, I always thought these names were hilarious.

PHIL MCCRACKEN 08!
McCain is desperate. Ayers? The economy is tanking, two wars, the rich are getting richer and the poor is getting poorer. Unreal. Just look at McCain's rallys. The hatred, the anger and the ignorance is astouding. Good luck Senator McCain, you'll need it.
“We’re all wondering why that Obama is where he’s at, how he got here. I mean, everybody in this room is stunned that we’re in this position.”

Stunned that what? The sputtering campaign candidate of one of the least approved presidents of all time is behind in the polls to one of the most well oiled political campaign machines in history?

That people aren't buying into the Swift Boat tactics of 2004? That people are looking for a real shift in this country? You're SERIOUSLY stunned by this?

Maybe the Republican party is worse off than I thought.

"We're betting McCain or Palin has a ready line for lecturing an over-the-top supporter, which at this point seems inevitable"

So... 'Kill him', 'Terrorist' aren't over the top? McCain and Palin let both of those happen.

Can't wait for the Troopergate report.

http://www.rodneyhopper.com
McCain and Palin still don't get it.  NO ONE cares!  Ayers is old news.  The market is dying; people are losing homes and jobs; retirees are seeing their future turn really dismal.  If all they can do is harp on the same old thing, it speaks volumes about what they don't know.  Personally, I don't care if someone talked with the devil, if he could get us out of this mess.  And Governor Palin, I know a Christian, and you, Ma'am, are no Christian.
Thanks First Read for a great week of posting interesting articles and reader comments!  So much fun here at First Read for us Honest Abe liberals and thanks to all the Obama supporters for posting such great reader comments!  Happy Barack-tober!

Truly sad that the Straight Talk Titanic is going down because they're too dishonest and hateful for Mainstream Americans to ever trust.  Now their campaign rallies are the same as KKK rallies as they spew their hateful racist rants.  They can't talk about the real issue, economics, because they are the problem not the solution.  They even have paid plants in the crowd to call on to further their clueless rants.

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
This is the second time around for the Ayers stuff and it was much earlier debunked. If McCain was so patriotic he should have insisted on some kind of investigation of a fellow lawmaker. It is obvious that he is either not so patriotic and didn't care or that he is presently a liar about his concern. I think both are true. McCain has proven that he is interested not in the welfare of the country or individuals. He is interested in winning. He has dishonored the nation and himself by the charade he performs. McCain the liar and McCain the once said to be patriot.
One thing that never gets reported in the anti-ACORN frenzy is that ACORN, like all people registering voters, must by law turn in all forms that they collect. Otherwise, Democrats/Republicans would throw out forms from voters they don't want in order to disqualify them. They are absolutely not allowed to take out the duplicates or Donald Duck/Hans Solo forms that are put in by either hourly contractors padding their numbers or by wisea## people saying, "Sure, I'll sign your form" and then putting a phony name down.

From what I understand, ACORN attempts to flag suspicious forms so Election Boards can review them but they would be liable if they remove them from their submissions.

If someone attempts to vote under a false name, then you have election fraud but this "bad forms" thing is a phony scandal.
We DO NOT need more liars in the White House.

Send McCain and Palin back to Alaska.   They are both as crooked as crooked can be.   Lots of skeletons in those closets.

TRUST Senator's Obama and Biden with our country.

On Election Day, every Obama supporter must not be complacent.   Get out there and VOTE!!  We must defeat the ugly, outrageous tone of the Republican ticket.

OBAMA/BIDEN '08
The Ayers around Obama doesn't smell good. Somethings rotten.
The Guilt by association game just leads to hate. McCain and his sidekick have opened the door to hate and racism.
Obama was an Elitist Celebrity and now he is a Shady Terrorist loving anti american Muslim???
McCain has so many Shady connections like Charles Keating, G Gordon Liddy, as well as serving on a BOARD with known Neo Nazi's, supporters of Latin American death squads and outright racists.
Now The GOP wants to blame The Dems and POOR PEOPLE for this Economic Collapse.
Sound Familiar????

In Germany after WW1 the German blamed the JEws for their hardships. We know what happened
In Salem people blamed Witches for their problems, hunted them down and burned them.
Here is America McCarthy hunted down so called Communists and anyone who had an association with that person or others and ruined peoples lives.
With Economy tanking everyday dont we need inspiration?? Change???
McCain s now Playing to a MOB MENTALITY at rallies where people are saying they want all of Obamas associations revealed. People are cheering this as well as hateful screams of Kill Him, Terrorists, Treason etc....
IS THIS WHAT WE HAVE COME TOO???
The Guilt by association game can be played on anyone of us and McCain should know better.
Here is McCains friend Keating.

Keating to McCain in 1986: ‘I’m yours til death do us part.’»

The Washington Times reports that in 1986, John McCain wrote a note on House stationery to Charles Keating, chairman of a failed savings and loan association who went to prison in the late 1980s. In the letter, McCain apologized for listing Keating as part of his Senate campaign finance committee. Keating wrote in response: “You can call me anything, write anything or do anything. I’m yours till death do us part“:

McCain has acknowledged his friendship with Keating, who helped funnel campaign contributions to McCain in the 80s. After Keating turned to McCain to try to stave off government intervention during the scandal, the Senate Ethics Committee admonished him for seemingly intervening with federal regulators on behalf of Keating.
I never thought I would feel 'sorry' for the GOP, and their use of scorched earth policies, they are pathetic.

There is no there there with the Ayers connection. Is that all you've got?

Keep on talking, keep on advertising about it, meanwhile, ignore the dreadful condition of the economy with so many of our citizens out of work, struggling to keep a roof over their heads and putting food on the table.   Are you for real??

Anyone with an ounce of objectivity will reject your wild and erroneous claims.  Try as you can, Sen Obama still will prevail.   Its over Sen. McCain, THAT ONE is the right one to help us now.
Liberals just can't comprehend how bad this Ayers terrorist fellow really is. I guess in many ways, liberals agree with much of what Ayers believes.

ITS IDIOTS LIKE YOU THAT ARE NOW THE MOB MENTALITY AT MCFAILIN RALLIES
i can't wait until palin goes back to that backward state she's from, alaska has so many corruption issues. she may be one of the most detested public figures i've seen in a long time.
"And if they do, it's doubtful that Harry Potter, Han Solo, or Haywood Jablome would actually show up at the polls."

-----------------------------------------------------

Haywood is expected to show up, but he'll be voting for McCain
The Ayers controversy is so over the top.

Why is Obama being skewered by the right and the MSM for his association with Ayers but the Republicans who appointed both Ayers and Obama to the board of the foundation are noticably absent from the discourse.

Does anyone believe the Annenburgs will be labeled as "terorist sympathizers? No way!!
They are good Republicans with extensive philanthropic
work. This is so stupid and ridiculous.
Why is John McCain serving in the Senate with a known terrorist sympathizer? He should resign in protest and call Homeland Security immediately to cart Obama off to Gitmo.

It would be a good idea to connect Obama with everything BAD that has ever happened in the 20th & 21st century and the McCcain campaign can save a lot of money. Just one ad will do:

"Obama caused the great depression, instigated WWII and the Korean Conflict, and would have opposed the Viet Nam War if he wasn't living in Indonesia and had the nerve to be in elementary school. He masterminded 9/11 and fought against the war in Irag, but not hard enough so now over 4000 troops are dead and it is his fault. He oversaw the collapse of Wall Street in 2008.He is friends with whites, blacks, asians, latinos, Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu and Atheists.
No way can we trust the presidency of the United States to this man."

"I'm John McCain and I approved this message."

Now there!
I want to hear about Troopergate!

Eric, Salinas, CA (Sent Friday, October 10, 2008 9:56 AM)

------------

Me too! I want to get the trooper Palin fired on the witness stand. First question to him "Did you tazer your 10 old son?" I can't wait to hear the answer. Then people like you can defend this trooper for doing the right thing, well, at least in your mind.
The ones who care more about a has been 60's radical than the economy today are living in the past, poorly educated and headed for the dustbin of American history...despicable folks
MSNBC PLEASE EXCPOSE THE AIP Volger -Palin connection. This is so much more corrosive than the pathetic Ayer -Obama smear. This show who the "real" sara Palin is. PLEASE do more stories on this. FOX is running 24 -7 anti -Obama hate speech. Making it sound like Ayers is Obama's VP choice for gods sake.
THE AIP is not empty smear it's real damning evidence on Palin's character and how out of touch she and her anti- US beliefs are.. The Obama Ayers connection will eventually sway voters to MCCain. Lets get FOX having to deal with AIP... I'd love to see it on Hannity and Colmes..and watch Hannity squirm.
Why does First Read continue to give McCain so much play on the Ayers issue? Is this responible journalism passing along the same innuendo day after day?
What's the big deal about the association between Obama and Ayers?

So what if Obama knew Ayers and served on various Boards with him (even some that republicans particpated on and helped to fund and support).

Am I missing something here or are we to let McCain convince us that Obama was part of the Weatherman group at age 8 and served as the bomb carrying bag-boy for Ayers years ago. Is that it?

Does everyone know that Ayers was named Citizen of the Year in the late nineties in Chicago for his work on education and schools.

What is the issue here?
Palin McCain...no difference but time and chromosomes(sp)..
Proof the Republicans haven't changed...
The animosity between both sides is reaching a fever pitch.  there is no way that america can survive this crisis if we don't come together and put our ideological differences aside for the common good.

Am I the only person who is sick and tired of hearing who Barack Obama had dinner with over 10 years ago? Who in their career hasn't met someone innocently only to find out their ties were questionable?  We do what he did - disassociate ourselves and move on.  That's what the voters are doing to the Republican party now - disassociating themselves and finding a coherent, strong message with Obama-Biden. Obama keeps pivoting back to the message of the hour, and it's the economy. McCain keeps pivoting to a dinner party. If a dinner party and bad mortgage buyback idea are all that McCain-Palin have in their bag of tricks, they need to move off the political stage and let Obama-Biden take this country to safer, higher ground.  They see the tide turning and on Nov 4, we will all welcome the change we've been promised - Obama-Biden!!
Let us be clear...very clear...

WHERE DOES DOMESTIC TERRORISM COME FROM PREDOMINANTLY?

Let us be clear

the AIP Vogler thing is important because

in the face of our country imploding

Palin wants to incite those same values at her rally's

America should be throwing up with such disgust.

seems Palin was only governor for 19 months ....and in 19 months she already has an ethics investigation

you know the one announced today

Be very clear

what her support and todd's support for Vogler and AIP means...

as our country goes fown the tubes over the last week

Palin incites her crowds with accusations and incendiary comments

ignoring the economy...

for inciting these values

those people screaming hateful things look familiar?

where do you think the bulk of domestic terrorism comes from?

Does the name McVeigh ring a bell.

do you not see the values she is inciting...the same ones that someone who would back up Joe Voglers party would have.

the same ones that McVeigh had...

the same ones that someone yelling those "killem" "ni@#$er" "terrorist" "hang em" "boy" etc etc...

would scream at a rally.

Let us be clear where domestic terrorism comes from...

the AIP Vogler thing is important

in the face of our country imploding

Palin wants to incite those same values at her rally's

America should be throwing up with such disgust.
<<"We’re all wondering why that Obama is where he’s at, how he got here. I mean, everybody in this room is stunned that we’re in this position.">>

What was the response to this question?

Dead silence?  Crickets chirping?  John McCain quietly weeping to himself?

Somebody tell me!
In Letter to 'NYT,' Man Who Prosecuted Weather Underground Hits Linking Ayers to Obama

NEW YORK In a surprising a letter to the editor published in the New York Times today, the chief prosecutor of the Weather Underground in the 1970s expressed outrage over the linking of Barack Obama to Bill Ayers by the McCain campaign, adding, "Although I dearly wanted to obtain convictions against all the Weathermen, including Bill Ayers, I am very pleased to learn that he has become a responsible citizen."

AYERS  &  MORE AYERS-ING  is getting so stale, it's not worth the paper it's printed on.    Maccain is so desperate.
Please... please... please... I really hope this scenario happens in the next (and final) debate:

Obama turning to McCain and asking (point-blank), "John, yes or no, do you think I am a terrorist?"
McCain would almost certainly answer "no".
To which Obama could respond, "Then why are you, your running mate, and your surrogates trying to portray me like one, and trying to suggest that I am supportive of terrorism?"

That type of conversation/confrontation should crack down on the Ayers discussion.

There is a big Troopergate article in today's (Oct 10) NYTimes.
