McCain camp not 'a CNBC news show'

Posted: Friday, October 10, 2008 1:49 PM by Carrie Dann

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy and Carrie Dann
Asked on a just-ended conference call about his candidates' lack of daily campaign statements on the plummeting of global markets in recent days, McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said that too much focus on the stock market could be redundant if repeated every day.

"I don't know if you really want to turn a campaign into a CNBC news show on the stock market," he said. "I mean it doesn't mean that we don't care and aren't trying to do something about it. It's just I'm not exactly sure what you say everyday."

"There’s very little a candidate for president, and frankly after watching today, very little even the president can say about what’s happening in the stock markets other than to hope that they correct themselves," he said, calling McCain's mortgage plan "the best elixir for doing that."

Earlier in Davis' answer to the question, he said: "Obviously I can't imagine a situation where on a daily basis a campaign would put out statements related to whatever the market was doing, and we hope the market gets better. We think we've got the economy policies that if John McCain's elected president will improve the market because they will actually add stability to the financial system that is in so much turmoil today. "

Also in his response, Davis expressed anxiety about the activity of the markets even during the time period immediately preceding the call. "Frankly, I've been on this phone for the last hour, I'm kind of worried to get out and see what it's done to my portfolio," he said.

We need McCain to save us from Obama and what he is doing / done the stock market. McCain needs to stop the market from bleeding, and help protect us small business owners. Obama is destroying everything.  Obama is like a monster out of one of those Japanese movies, destroying cities.,  but in our case it's the US !
Is this the same guy who was in the payroll for fannie may and freddie mack until a few weeks ago? Rick Davis?

McCain's campaing is so out of touch. You don't need to report the obvious about the economic crisis, we just want the focus and attention to shift towards solving it rather than negative attacks on Obama. You see talking about it means we want to solve it instead of run away from it and hope for the best.
As a small business owner, today I have to do something very hard. I have to lay off 1/2 of my employees. Obamas plan for small businesses and what he has done to the stock market is killing my business. I blame him for this crisis we're in. Up until last week when he pulled ahead we were doing good. After his lead, the markets have crashed and I'm losing business right and left.
so, today when I tell my 100 employees that I have to lay 48 of you off , it's because of Obamas plans, and what he has done to the stock market. By the end of the year I fully expect to have to file for bankruptcy.

Are you serious Jim? Did you just say that Obama's poll numbers caused the stock market crash? Are you really that blind to the situation we are all in right now? Do you really have such an incredible lack of understanding of the economy? You blame a Senator who is running for president and would not be inaugurated until January and not make one mention of the Bush administration? This is truly one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.

Here are some facts for you. Economists have been warning about us about this for 3 years. The value of the dollar has been dropping for years. The housing market has been on the brink of disaster for a long time and when it hit the fan last year anyone with half a brain in there head knew trouble was coming. When big business was so completely de-regulated that CEO's would get millions of dollars in pay-offs for running a company into the ground, warning shots were being fired in the air at a rapid rate and know one paid attention.

Listen, I am an independent who is socially liberal but fiscally conservative. I blame Bill Clinton as much as I do George Bush for pushing a free market economy with little to no regulation or oversight. I really have to tell you that if you really feel that this crisis is due to Obama's recent poll numbers and not a 10+ year history of greed and mistakes then your business probably is in alot of trouble.

I own a small business myself and have been preparing for this eventuality for 3 years. I own a small wine distribution company. I decided a long time ago that I needed to switch from credit to cash. I buy and repair vehicles for my fleet with cash. I renew my healthcare for my employees every year and get a nice group rate. I buy my stock from importers up front or at most ninety days credit. I have lost a ton of business in the last few weeks but I will not have to lay off one single employee and will be able to weather this storm. I can do this because I keep myself educated and informed and prepared. If I thought my business depended on poll numbers my doors would be boarded up by now.

Think about Jim.
its the economy stupid......
McNasty and Ms. Moneybags are not interested in the financial market. Why should they care. They are too busy hatemongering to have time for important issues.
Obviously the truth hurts the man who was instrumental in bringing about this global financial meltdown.

Let's talk Troopergate instead!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
"It's just I'm not exactly sure what you say everyday."

Oh you say that Barack Obama is a terrorist! That makes SO much sense!

What an idiot!
" It's just I'm not exactly sure what you say everyday."

Boy doesn't that just say it all!

<<"It's just I'm not exactly sure what you say everyday.">>

Yeah, we've noticed.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
"Frankly, I've been on this phone for the last hour, I'm kind of worried to get out and see what it's done to my portfolio," he said.

Oh really? You are worried, Rick. That's nice. Maybe we can talk about Ayers and Wright some more and that will fix it all.

What an ignorant buffoon.
Barack Obama got out of the shower and was drying off when he looked in
the mirror and noticed he was white from the neck up to the top of his
head.

In sheer panic and fearing he was turning white and might lose the election,
he called his doctor and told him of his problem.

The doctor advised him to come to his office immediately.  After an
examination, the doctor mixed a concoction of brown liquid, gave it to
Barack, and told him to drink it all.
Barack drank the concoction and replied, 'That tasted like bullshit!'

The doctor replied, 'It was, you were a quart low.'

and there IS something new to report on the obama-ayers relationship everyday?  has something new happened in the last few years that we don't know about?  are they co-chairing any other community improvement boards together these days?
Sorry John, its time to grab your ball and take it home...also make sure you drop off Sarah on your way.
McCain: "There's a problem with the stock market? Why didn't someone tell me?"
Message to country: We have no clue about the economy...we don't care about the economy (or the working class)...in fact, the only thing we care about are Hannity's talking points.

Wow...now THAT is a leader I trust on the economy.

They are just pathetic.
What a crock.  People want some kind answers as to the direction of the candidate.  Instead they are being fed a bowl of hate and we all need to hope that nothing terrible happens to any candidate because if it does, someone will be blamed.
