'After I whip his you-know-what'

Posted: Sunday, October 12, 2008 5:10 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
ARLINGTON, Va. -- After doing some debate prep and satellite interviews at his campaign headquarters for most of the afternoon, McCain headed downstairs to his Virginia Victory offices to rally a group of volunteers who had been making phone calls on his behalf.

He referenced recent poll numbers and the state of the race in Virginia before telling his supporters that this news should only make them want to work harder.

"After I whip his you know what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," McCain said of his upcoming debate with Obama, but seeming to consider recent criticism that his words have been too inflammatory, he quickly told supporters to be respectful.

"I wanna emphasize again, I respect Sen. Obama," McCain said. "We will conduct a respectful race and we will make sure that everybody else does too," but he also reiterated that there are "stark differences" between the two candidates.

McCain spoke of his event in Virginia tomorrow, his third campaign event in the state during the general election, and said that this is going to be a state where his campaign will have to work hard, along with states like Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

The best argument to defend McCain and Palin for their hate-filled rallies is that they don’t know what they are doing. But who is looking for a president and VP who don’t know what they are doing?
I think McCain is fundamentally a good guy, but he is SO old and out of touch as he keeps demonstrating by calling Obama "that one" and talking about whipping him!  He reminds me of my grandfather who also was a very good man but whose language and grasp of race relations in this country was behind the times.  I think all this foot-in-mouth from McCain lately is just due to his age and the age in which he was brough up and not at all due to any racist feelings on his part, but all the same he really needs to knock it off.  I do, however, think that Governor Palin is a bigot.  I hope she gets impeached.
"His you know what"? Is this really the way we would want our president to speak? We don't need a foul-mouthed moron in charge. We already have one those in the office right now.
McCain is truly the same as Bush in standards and intelligence. We deserve better.
John Lewis has it exactly right. He knows what he is talking about and has the scars to prove it. With a few words of incitement from Wallace, innocent people were killed here. McCain may not know what he is doing. Ignorance is his best plea. But who wants to vote for ignorance?
Go home John McCain.  You talk about respect and then make a disrespectful comment.  Would you talk that way to anyone to their face?

What ever happened to "love your enemies?"

--DG a Republican who is embarrassed by your campaign.

McCain can do or say what he wants. What the people want is the republicans out of the White House. And for me, it is not John McCain and the presendency that bothers me, it is the idea of Sarah Palin as president that scares me. She is John McCains biggest mistake and it is that kind of poor judgement that I do not want in the White House.

Vote Obama/Biden on Nov 4th. True leadership to move this country forward.
McLurch-Erratic is telling lies again. He has not figured out that the fines that he keeps attaching to Barack Obama's healthcare platform was actually Hillary Clinton's.

He obviously does not read or remember information or just likes to misrepresent.

He and Palin are just SO OUT of TOUCH.

About Pailn: Why does she use her children as props so much?
I just had my Obama yard sign burned last night 4 feet from my house. McCain has released the pit bulls of hatred. I suppose this is his definition of a "respectful race". His campaign has labeled Obama as a terrorist and they seem surprised when people become scared and act irrationally.
I believe this is symptomatic of McCain's problems - it is as if he's not sure why he's running, and his indecision is making his appearance seem erratic. I am a Canadian, and I am watching mostly Canadian news coverage of this election - but I worry he will damage his reputation.

Ah yes, the high-minded intellectual banter of the Republican Party.

Please, is McCain gonna whip the world's you know what now?   Oh wait, his party has done that already with the current economic crisis....

Maybe McCain meant that Obama should be chained to a whipping post first (is that being respectful of him??), kind of like they did it back before The Civil War; when an unruly field hand who didn't wan't to mind Massa had to be whipped for his uppity behavior?

McCain, give it up. You're toast in Nov.
With synchronization with Bush, McCain has given America a ten trillion dollar debt and taken away the means to pay it. What more can he do for America?
He's a liar.  He has absolutely NO respect for Senator Obama.
He's gonna whip his a$$ the way the slave master whipped Kunta Kinte. Now, ain't that special from the mouth of a US Senator. John McCain wouldn't know respect if it bit him on his A$$.
too little too late sir...
thanks for playin'!!
WTF???

Does he sound like the mean old man who wouldn't let kids cross his yard when you were little --- OR WHAT?

Obama can whip him with his hands (and feet) tied behind his back.

Of course, that's me talking.  Don't get complacent fellow dems, independents and reformed repubs...we still have 23 days to go.

Complacency and the Bradley effect are our enemies now...but we're almost there.  If you pray, start praying.  Don't pray? That's fine.  This is America. Do what you do...

Peace...
I don't think that "his you know what" was supposed to be "a$$".

I think it was just more racist code words meaning the "Boss Man" was going to "whip his hide".

How can McCain talk about being respectful when they constantly use every code word in the book to stoke the hatred up more?
Mccain is talking out both sides' of his mouth. He says he wants to run a respectful campaign but his running mate is on another page. She is the one fanning the flames of the crowds. When this race is over Mccain and Palin will be remembered as hate mongers as Obama is being presidential.
Actions speak much louder than words. McCain can say anything but talking the talk is much different than walking the talk
WTF???

Does he sound like the mean old angry man who wouldn't let kids cross his yard when you were little --- OR WHAT?

Obama can whip him with his hands (and feet) tied behind his back.

Of course, that's me talking.  Don't get complacent fellow dems, independents and reformed repubs...we still have 23 days to go.

Complacency and the Bradley effect are our enemies now...but we're almost there.  If you pray, start praying.  Don't pray? That's fine.  This is America. Do what you do...and most of all VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!

Peace...
Yes! There are "stark differences"!  One of the candidates was almost at the bottom of his class, and was 'unqualified' to ever become a Navy Admiral. And the list goes on and on and....
More proof that McCain is indeed erractic.
WOW!!!!
So Long and Goodbye Mr. McCain the only whopping given out is to be served on you sir! I predict November 5th will be a sad day indeed for you.
Obama/Biden 08 and 2012
Can you imagine Obama saying, "After I whip his you-know-what.."?  McCain just isn't presidential.  We have had far to many years of a president who brings no dignity to the White House.  I just can't stomach four more.
On one hand McCain says that Obama is a decent man running for President. Then he releases a lying emotional Ad titled Dangerous. In it the ad calls Obama Dishonorable for telling the truth about bombing civilians in Afghanistan. Then they call him Dangerous for not voting to support the Troops even though McCain has voted against the troops as well. Obama is in fact the only decent man running for President.

McCain has become an erratic dishonest nebbish. His campaigns dishonorable and unethical tactics tells the American Voters that the Straight Talk Express ever existed, it left this Planet. He is all about ambition and doesn’t deserve to represent this Country as a Senator much less than the President.

How can anyone that acts the way he does talk about putting the Country First. He is appealing to the worse fears of the Lunatic Fringe. The chants of terrorist, kill him, socialism, Arab, Muslim remind us an earlier time in History, a history that should not longer be tolerated in this Country or in the World.

Thank God, younger voters are not swayed by these falsehoods. They are the future of this Country and I, for one, feel they will finally change this Country to reflect what this Country can and should be.
Isn't the candidate who's leading by 10 points nationally in the polls, ahead in all the battleground states, and has a predictive 100 electoral college vote advantage whipping the you know what of the other candidate?  Isn't that the way you know what whipping usually works?

All Americans Should Demand the Resignations of McCain/Palin from the Campaign and
From their Current Government Positions Irregardless of Party Affiliation

We Must Send A Strong Message That This Type of Behavior Will Not Be Tolerated Now or In The Future

With the McCain/Palin campaign saying Mr. Obama’s full name or asking just who is Mr. Obama?, they are inciting and manipulating people to react in a negative manner.  McCain/Palin are grown adults acting in a despicable manner.  They are using a form of terrorism (Definition: acts designed to instill fear) tactics to promote a hate crime.  We all know that there are crazy people out there even when things are normal.

If this keeps up and one of these crazy people tries to hurt Mr. Obama you know what will happen.  The entire United States will erupt into violence and many innocent people will be harmed or killed.

How can a United States Senator and a man that is running for the Presidency of the United States of America condone this type of behavior and promote it?

How can a woman who is the Governor of Alaska and running for the Vice Presidency of America conduct herself like this?

I know that Americans are frantically worried about the economy but we just CANNOT turn a blind eye to this type of behavior.  This is a major issue.   We must call McCain/Palin on their conduct and hold them accountable.  When people in their audience were calling out these names, McCain and Palin just smirked.  Neither one of these government officials did anything except maybe to encourage more by their silence.  Now several days later, when others are calling McCain/Palin out on their conduct, McCain gives a show of excuse, not an apology.  Palin has yet to do anything.

How can this be?  Again, I state this is a major issue and should be confronted.  Neither one of them are fit to hold the office they currently hold when they promote and encourage this hate mongering either with the words they use or the silence they keep.  This is SHAMEFUL CONDUCT.  McCain and Palin owe all of America and Mr. Obama a public apology and we should be demanding it.  This conduct is a BLACK EYE for ALL AMERICANS regardless of party Affiliation.

As parents we struggle to teach our children to treat others with respect and dignity.  Our children and the world are watching how Americans react to this type of behavior..  Are we just going to let their actions or silence slide by?  Americans should be demanding their resignations from the campaign and from the offices they currently hold.

One other thing we should be doing is emailing or calling the Secret Service requesting that they provide Mr. Obama and his family more protection because of the fear and anger the McCain/Palin ticket has created.

And just so you know – I am a registered Republican and I am NOT afraid of Mr. Obama.  But I am afraid of what McCain/Palin are trying to manipulate people to do and the events that will happen if someone does try.  That will far exceed our worries over the economy.  We must act now to prevent it.

America~just like we did with the bailout proposal …. Please contact every Governor, every Congressman, current and former US Presidents and VPs, the heads of Republican and Democratic parties, magazines, newspapers, cable news, etc and let them know that this behavior is WRONG and WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT TOLORATE IT.

Something else for America to think about … McCain/Palin are pro-war … will they bring back the military draft?  And if they do bring the draft back will WallStreet’s children and grandchildren be exempt?
I just watched the most blatant display of rac_ist red neck group think from a gathering of cretins leaving a Palin-McCain Rally.  They were so fired up on the hate and venom spewed at the McCain Rally that it is apparent Sen. McCain’s anger and hatred are extremely contagious elements of McCain’s character.  McCain is creating ter_rorist-like followers from the misfits in the underbelly of America, just as Middle-Eastern extreme_ist create ter_rorist from disenchanted and hopeless Palestinians.  Sen. McCain should be held responsible for inciting behavior characteristic of ter_rorist by manipulating these individual’s situation.  It is a sad day for the American political process when Sen. McCain's uses campaign rallies to incite hat_red and hostility toward his opponent in his last ditch and desperate bid for the presidency.  McCain’s activities designed to incite hat_red in voters for the gain of a few votes for his presidency is irresponsible and borders on the criminal.

Well, one thing is for sure, Senator McCain - you're 0-for-2 in debates so far.  Whatever strategy you've used hasn't worked, and it seems that you haven't left yourself much of any way to win.  You told a supporter that you will "go after" Obama at this debate on things like Ayers and Rev. Wright, but in the next breath you told your supporters they have to be respectful and that they shouldn't be afraid of an Obama presidency.  So which side of the fence will you be on on Wednesday?  You keep trying to please the base, but then realize you can't do that and attract Independents, so then you pander to Indies and upset the base.  It's amusing to watch the ineptitude.
You keep saying "I know how to fix the economy, I know how to catch Bin Laden, I know how to (insert issue here)."  You sound like a 4th grader struggling with his math homework, insisting he knows how to do it, but then gets an F on the assignment.  In fact, if you know what you claim to know, then why haven't we caught Bin Laden and why is the economy in shambles in the first place?
Your claims are are so transparently baseless, and you have yet to offer any plans that show you would do anything differently from George W. Bush.  You're not at all interested in helping regular Americans.  Just like Bush, you're only interested in winning the presidency for the power it grants and for having a place in history.
I think the only thing you might be able to whip on Wednesday will be your campaign manager's you-know-what.  Your entire campaign has been pathetic from the start.

Obama/Biden '08
I DON'T MCCAIN IS CAPABLE OF "WIPING" HIS OWN BUTT, LET ALONE "WHIPPING" ANYONE ELSES.
Has the definition of racism changed????? Give me one example of a racist comment that McCain or Palin have said!!!!
John Lewis is a racist.
Sarah Palin is the wrong choice for VP by the  MAVERICK.Her negative attacks of Obama began at the RNC.
All the kids in my neighborhood are scared to death of a grouchy old guy down the street. If he's in his yard, he yells at them, and even if he's not, the kids still run like crazy by his house. However, John McCain makes this poor old man look like Santa Claus! Give it up, John, GO OBAMA 08!!!!
How sad that some of you only see things through a racial prism. I suppose when McCain said there are stark differences between the two of them you attribute it to race as well?  If McCain says he plans to "beat" Obama on election day is he subconsciously channeling the inner slave-master all white people apparently have hiding inside them?  Give me a break...

So much violent and agressive talk from MCcain. Seems like all he wants to do is hurt or defeat  somone and show how he can be on top. This is not the tpye of President we need. Imagine MCcain saying We will whip Russia's A@# because they made us mad. Not a good reaction.
Saying that you respect a man that your campaign is attempting to link to domestic terrorism (and generally characterize as dangerous for America) simply does not wash.

These pronouncements, and the acceptance they enjoy, make me embarrassed for republicans. John is delivering messages to his base that conflict a great deal with those directed at the general populace. The upcoming election will be a revelation in terms of exposing the willingness of Americans to negotiate their duties qua citizen.

If you vote for McCain, you have been duped, just as with Bush. A McCain administration would reveal this if America could survive one. Barack is certainly not the best man for the job, but he is the best "credible candidate." An examination of American history and the men themselves clearly reveal this fact.

To judge the man, we must look not to his verbal admissions take generally take any form that is politically expedient and self serving, but instead to his actions. John McCain consistently cheated on his disabled wife and left her for a rich woman. He voted against the establishment of Martin Luther King Jr. day for years. He has told jokes explaining why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly, and he reportedly (from 3 credible sources) called his wife a cunt in public.

I do not want this man to be the President of the free world. He is simply not a good man, former POW or not. I praise his service to the country, but I do not let it distract me from each disservice and the patterns of behavior which clearly reveal a man who is ruthlessly selfish.

A fellow, erstwhile POW put it quite succinctly. If Senator McCain really put country before self, then he would probably not be alive today. Think about that, brothers and sisters of mine.

Well, I think McCain is going to kick butt on Nov. 4.  All the polls for the last 4 elections have had the poll numbers completely wrong by 10 to 15 points.

I've already begun celebrating!

YEAAAAAAA!  McCain/Palin!  We saved America!
This is perfect. After reading this, I felt I understood better how McCain and Plain, are Playin' us all.

Check it out.

Yeah this kind of trash talk is gonna win it for McCain and Company, NOT!!!! I really don't think this campaign has any idea of what they are doing, where they are heading and there is less then 3 weeks to go. Just like when Sen McCain choose Gov Palin, spur of the moment choice and there you are. Moment to moment changes. Is this any way to run a campaign let alone the country??? I don't think so.
Whip him? Does Mccain have any idea about anything? I mean it, really, think about it. Does not have any idea how that might look in print to say he's gonna whip him, an African American? Sure, it's a common saying, but you'd think it might register to monitor your mouth and tackiness a bit as a presidential candidate.... amazingly out of touch.
Why isn't the media covering her abuse of power? Low information voters will not even be aware of it. Also, I found out that the Clintons, especially Hillary, have been campaigning for Obama in earnest. I guess the media does not want to show their rallies for fear that they could sway some blue collar voters Obama's way.
Good, you mentioned Palin using her own daughter as a pawn to protect her politically ... now, what was it you wanted to say about Troopergate and the unsavory associations of McCain and Palin?  Oh, yeah, you really don't want to say anything about those topics because they're negative to them ...
I kills me how McCain on the one hand calls for Obama to rebuke John Lewis who has seen America in one of its most shameful periods in the treatment of minorities during the civil rights movement, and then makes reference to whipping Obama?!?  Doesn't he have any racial sensitivity to the words and tone he uses (see "That One" - like Obama is some peice of livestock)? He does not get it and is truly devisive and erratic in his words and deeds.  No wonder he is losing terribly in the polls - I cannot wait for Nov. 4 when he, Palin and the rest of his ignorant followers will eat Crow!
