Man to man

Here's something Joe Biden said, again, recently. "In my neighborhood, you want to say something about me, look me in the eye and tell me."

The crowd under an outdoor pavilion in Jefferson City, Mo., burst out in applause and rose to its feet.

"Say it to me straight up," Biden bellowed, sounding like a tough kid from Scranton PA might have back in the day.

Biden was criticizing McCain for not looking Obama in the eye at their last debate (or the one before that), and for not leveling some of the "character" attacks in some of his TV ads and stump speeches, like, "Who is the real Barack Obama?"...directly at Obama.

So, today in Lisbon, Ohio, when Biden sat down for a cheeseburger at the Steel Trolley Diner, and began answering a few questions from the traveling press corps, for the first time since way back in September, it seemed like a good time to ask whether he -- "Straight up" -- has contacted his old friend McCain to give him a piece of his mind?

"A while ago I did,” Biden said. “I called him a while ago.”

Not recently?

"No it's been -- just since before Sept. 11th."

Back then, Biden was concerned about how the candidates' families were being drawn into the campaign by some negative accusations floating around.

On Sept. 11th, Biden, Obama and McCain all attended a community service event at New York's Columbia University. Biden spoke briefly to McCain there, after trying to reach him by telephone unsuccessfully several times, Biden's aides say.

It was apparently a very brief meeting. Biden's people say McCain made it clear "he didn't want to talk about it."

And it apparently did not accomplish very much, since the campaign has heated up considerably since then, with Obama's "associations" with people like 60's radical Bill Ayers taking center stage.

Biden especially condemns McCain TV ads that talk about terrorism and Obama. In an interview on MSNBC’s Hardball, Biden warned, "You don't throw race and terrorism" together, adding "that's a combustible mix … where people are angry."

In fact, at every stop Biden charges that all of McCain's ads now are negative.

So has he tried to reach his old friend John again? It seems obvious watching and listening to Biden that the attacks bother him.

I asked, why not just say, "Man to man,” like the guys in ol’ Scranton, "You gotta do something?"

Biden responded, "I know John knows my views. I know he knows my views. I expressed them in a -- slightly different way -- not a telephone call -- earlier, it's John's campaign," referring to that meeting on Sept. 11th.

Maybe it was quite a "straight up" talk after all.

Now there's speculation McCain may bring up the "Ayers issue" in the final presidential debate. And the other day Biden warned that McCain may regret his attacks "for the rest of his life."

They'll certainly have a lot to talk about, face to face, when all of this is over.

Biden doesn't have the right to criticize anyone. This gaffe got 1% of the vote when he ran for president, TRIED to block Claraence Thomas from the Supreme Court and spent most of his 40 something years in the senate just wasting time.

And now .... page 2.
McCain will not bring up ayers tomorrow because the huff post has an article on william timmons who is the chair of McCain's transition team. Timmons lobbied in behalf of saddem hussein. McCain has alot of explaining to do.
Obama gave $800,000 to ACORN and he has NO involvement with them? He has already offered them a "voice" in his administration, should The Trauma be elected.
All Obama needs to do is bring up the name John Singlaub.

John McCain sat on the Board of Directors of the World Anti-Communist League along with its founder John Singlaub. The World Anti-Communist League was described by former members as “largely a collection of Nazis, Fascists, anti-Semites, sellers of forgeries, vicious racialists, and corrupt self-seekers.”
His relationship with this group occurred while he was in Congress.

If Obama would just bring this up, this race will definitely be over!!!!
In an interview on MSNBC’s Hardball, Biden warned, "You don't throw race and terrorism" together, adding "that's a combustible mix … where people are angry."

He's absolutely right.  Just look at what people are yelling at McCain campaign rallies.  Unreal.

LOL I bet your right now that John McCain takes the bait and tries to bring up Ayers! I bet you that Obama has the prefect responce to that attack. If McCain goes there Obama is going to slam him for doing it on national TV. McCain has to attack Obama on Ayers tomorrow and Obama is going put the Smack Down on him. McCain is being set up and he shouldn't bring up Ayers!
If McCain is really a a man of Honor and Integrity he claims to be, and if he really puts the Country First, I hope he will not stoop to the levels, similar to what the Bush camp did to him in South Carolina, and conduct himself in a manner that is reflective of a man he was a few years ago.

Sen. McCain, please put this country and its citizens above your ambition of becoming the POTUS... DO IT FOR THE CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS...
Biden can't even man up to go against a woman (Palin). Maybe Joe should start by going against a Cub Scout and work his way up.
I don't think McCain will bring up Ayers, but I hope he does, or somebody does. I would like for those who only listen to John McCain hear what Obama has to say about Ayers. His explanation is quite good. Any intelligent person will hear and see that. Sadly, most conservatives only listen to one side. This debate will give Obama the opportunity to speak to those McCain followers who only listen to McCain.
Biden is turning into a bitter old man.
More and more, McCain is coming off as the cowardly puppet.  I would like to think he has some regrets for being such a Rove toy.  But after watching his town halls and stump speaches, he is just a scared little man that can't focus on multiple things at a time.  I am sure he can do one thing at a time fairly well, but that isnt what the job calls for.

It's becoming more and more painfully aware that is out of he league and is in no way up for or even qualified to lead anything.  The poor fool isnt even leading his own campiagn.  He is even second fiddle to Palin.
Get him Joe!

The Hero/POW can't look his adversary in the eye and say whatever to their face?  So much for the Hero!

It's easy to stab someone in the back with the slanderous statements and lies.

Barack called him out on his misleading statements.  So, Mr. McBush, what say you?

No Guts, No Glory, No McCain!
Way to go Biden! Tell it like it is! McCain is a coward. He'll sell all those "wolf tickets" in the world behind Obama's back, but face to face he won't say a word. Let's see if he'll be a man and say all of that detestable garbage to Barack's face tomoorow night at the debate. Uh, I'm guessin' heck naw! (Wink)
DAM SKIPPY!

Now--- I wish John McCain would say it!! Please!! Get in Obama's face about Ayers... Come on!! Obama has been "dishonest" about what??? McCain NEVER says what he thinks the relationship between Ayers is?? What is the connection?? C'mon, John... is that all you've got??? If you have something to tell, TELL IT! Say it to the MAN!

McCain is a sorry excuse for a man. I can't wait until Nov 4th so we don't have to look at the UNETHICAL PROM QUEEN anymore. Her political career is over anyway once she goes back to Alaska where they'll be waiting for her with bells on. On to more ethics investigations and certain impeachment. HA! I'm glad they boo'd her at the hockey game.

To quote my beloved Keith Olbermann, not only did Governor Crist RIGHTFULLY tell McCain to kiss his BUTT, McCain is UP THE CREEK ---- WITHOUT A PADDLE!!!

HOOOOORAAAAY!!!
In a repub neighborhood you sent out your mother to take care of problems, that is why Sarah get all the dirty work.
Sister Sarah, the nun with attitude is really a penguin in bondage to the RNC, trined birds alway let you down repubs, get a dog, they are smarter and loyal, birdbrains are just penguins with lipstick, you dolts!
I can understand Joe Biden. McNasty was his friend but now he is someone that Joe Biden doesn't even recognize anymore.

What can you say to McNasty who has found a new friend that appears to have no morals, but the hatred and visciousness of this new friend is what Mcnasty seems to get off on.
Sadly, McCain is acting rather cowardly.
Look, First Read, you are not supposed to call Joe Biden on the hypocracy of his remarks-that's racist, or hateful, or, well, something.

I thought you understood that nothing negative was to be mentioned to the One or his minion.  That's why you can't correct Biden on who was president in 1929, or when television was invented, or how many states there are in the United States, or the fact that you can't CUT taxes for people who don't PAY taxes.

You are supposed to chant, along with the rest of the media.  You know, hope, change, all that rah rah.
Check this out.  Trying to paint smoeone guilty by association has so many risks - McCain's Transition Chief aided Saddam Hussein's lobbying effort to "ease international sanctions against his regime"  Couple of people ended up with criminal records ... aiding the enemy??

Just heard Chris Mathews say compairing Hillary to Sarah is like compairing the empire state building to an igloo!  LMAO!!!  Couldn't have said it better...
You go JOE!!!! It seems to me no mater what politial show I'm watching when the Republicans are speaking there are nasty, nasty, nasty. Perhaps that is why John McNasty has had that nick name since high school. I appreciate that the democrats are always gracious. However, maybe it's time to put on the gloves & hit back. I agree with Richard Lewis; I don't know how these people sleep at night. In my opinion us "normal" people would be sunk into gulit if we behaved the way McNasty & Palin have behaved.
72yr old woman for Obama/Biden.
Biden is THE most qualified person for President in, well, a LONGGGGG time.  They crossed paths BUT from what I can pick up, FEW truly like Mccain.  He uses fear, goes out for HIMSELF, and is a big toddler.  Seriously, he cries then kicks and cries some more.  My 10 month old baby is more mature.  If I were Biden, I'd realize Mccain is a POWER HUNGRY politician, nothing else.  WHAT major legislation has Mccain passed?  Biden did law enforcement legislation, and gave troops tools they need in Iraq.  Mccain is not TRULY for troops (check out record and what THEY SAY about Mccain), and he seems to just go around seeking to be a tag-along who waits to lead the power-broker pack.  That is all it is for Mccain.  Biden would be WISE to forget Mccain.  ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS and Mccain's actions, connections, and desperation says a LOT about just how poor he is INTELLECTUALLY, SPIRITUALLY, and HUMAN-ly.
John McCain has been a bully all of his life(see RollingStones.com article). Thanks Joe for calling him out on this.  Obama said that he will not throw the first punch but he will throw the last.  McCain has to many questionable relationships in his past to start throwing stones (see Huffingtonpost.com).
What I would really like to know is where is Ayers in all this ridiculous mess that McCain so wants to bring up.  Why is HE not actually interviewed and get his OWN response directly, huh?  I don't get it.  Even the Rev. Wright was actually interviewed, although that turned out to be a mess in itself!
Go Joe! McCain could be sorry if he launches his attacks.  Obama is a first class act and so he probably want attack on Palin and her association with Volger and AIP.  Real domestic terrorist who said they would infiltrate other parties with their candidate to accomplish their agenda.  Better yet, what about Troopergate and Palin insistence that she did nothing wrong.  She addressed the AIP in March, 2008 and her husband was a member.  What else is it we don't know.  Maybe it's that a Fannie Mae cronny heads McCains campaign.  Barrack the vote!!!!!
John McCain is caught between the tactics of his campaign, over which he has surprisingly little control, and his own honor, which is being seriously compromised.

The Tragedy of John McCain:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/JTatEHT/gGgbrT
McCain has Small Man Syndrome-we will see
how he handles himself on the debate.
   Joe:
In my 'hood we want our job's and guns.  We are not going to worry about that when Obama and you are in the White House.  When you hear "God" around here, in my hood,  it can scare the "hell" out of you, and when he talk's there are no...,.!?#$ or % in his conversation, it is an endless story of love non-stop.  You talk a-lot Joe, and some times you make a mistake....you are almost there Joe....don't be afraid to talk, and make mistake's.....hell, I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong........
What a maverick, can't take a phone call!?  This is what this whole campaign *STINKS* of, John McCain not calling the shots.

In this case it's a bunch of bad apples, spoiling the one.  That one--John McCain.
McCain should bring up the issue of Aryers, Wright, and ACORN. And he should use Obama's middle name. If Barack does not want his middle name used let him change it like he did his first name. Take off the gloves and give it to Obama the big baby.

Good...but I wish Obama would bring up some of McCains connections also...what is good for the goose is good for the gander.  McCain knows full well Obama Obama is not close with Ayers and that he in no way has anything to do with his campaign.  But McCain has a VP whose husband does have close ties to a secessionist group and so did she evidently.  I also saw on Glenn Beck that CEO's are fretful of Obama getting in...yep no doubt...Mccain would give you those golden parachutes...Obama wont.  Very telling.
I am so thankful to see the polls going this way. With McCain and Palin acting like crazy ignorant bigoted twin evils of 1930's politics, I was getting a bit worried. I feel a lot better now that I see the dark ages receding again.

Sign me just one more republican vote for Obama.

Geez what the heck happened to my party? Way to go McCain, thanks Sarah, you can sashey yourself back to Alaska now. From what I read they are waiting to get a piece of you themselves.
McCain should just try and focus on what direction he wants to take this country. Obama has a clear plan. Many people heard it, and many people disagree with it. Many people, such as myself, agree with it. Hence we will vote for or against him because we have the freedom to do so.

I hear, see, and read a lot of people who are against Obama, attack him and voters who want to vote for him. Likewise the same for Obama backers that are against McCain.

But through all the character assassinations I want to ask the McCain Backers one question. Other than TAX CUTS, what direction does McCain want to take this country?

And I'm not bashing anyone, I just want to know what we will be the benefits of a McCain Presidency.
