Virginia rolls top five million

Posted: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 6:18 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Doug Adams
Virginia now has more than five million registered voters, a new record, as the deadline for registration for the fall election closed on Oct. 6th, according to the Virginia State Board of Elections.

The total number of registered voters in Virginia is now 5,021,933.

Since January, Virginia, a swing state this cycle, has experienced a net gain of 436,000 new voters, including what they call an "onslaught" of new voters in the last week of registration.

Nearly 40 percent of the newly registered voters across the state are under the age of 25. Trends show that, regardless of age, females represent the majority of new registered voters.

Among the biggest gainers were cities:
-- Williamsburg: Nearly 20% increase
-- Richmond: More than a 17% increase
-- Arlington County: More than a 14% increase
-- Hampton city: 15.4% increase
-- Charlottesville: 14.6% increase
-- Fairfax County: 9% increase, but that means 61,000 new voters
-- Fairfax City: 7%

Thats a dramatically pro Obama number there.  Lets see however how many the GOP can purge before the 4th.

Im sure theres one reason or another why some of those cant count
Man oH Man...check out the home state going Progressive!!

Shout Outs VA!!!
To Chuck Todd (Dodgers fan) and Joe Scarborough (Red Sox fan): Since you both grew up in Florida, here's hoping that if Tampa Bay & Phillies face off in the World Series, that you both root for the Tampa Bay Rays. It's a great great story and the Rays deserve all the fans they can get.

It's almost time that we all got on board and root for them should our teams leave the stage. (No offense Phillies fan, but you have your fans, TB has been struggling to build a fan base).

This is the Rays' moment.
Uh oh - too bad for YOU McSame!!
Thanks Mark, from seattle, I was going to say that in the Going to Carolina post.
Wow..thats awesome.  How long before the Republicans start saying they are not legal? I give it about 20 min.
With all due credit to Al Davis: McCain will go down and he will go down HARD.

The Democrats ground operation in Va. is big and well-organized. With Mark Warner headin for the Senat, the upticket push means McCain will lose The Old Dominion by 5-7 points.

I bet a lot of them are Republicans passionate about John McCain.  Seriously
The exact number of "new" voters depends on how many times each one registered!  I guess the Democrats are using a literal interpretation of "vote early and vote often"!

How many of these new registrations are Democratic? I bet it's nearly 70%. I think this is why McCain is now likely to lost the state. This is good news for Obama.
Heard an interesting theory on another network today and was curious about your thoughts, Chucky T?

The person was explaining how pollsters weight their polls based on the # of registered Repubs and Dems nationwide.  This person was speculating that with the large numbers of fraudulent voters registered by ACORN, particularly in battleground states, that the polls could be impacted and wrongly skewed toward Dems.  Does that seem possible?
I live in Fairfax County.  61,000 new voters, oh my goodness.  McCain is gonna get it bad in Fairfax.
Every voter… no matter who you are supporting should google:
Philip J. Berg esq and Obama.

You need to read about his lawsuit and how Obama and the DNC are trying to hide it from you. This is not an anti-Obama post, this is a serious issue. This is a pro USA post.
Is McCain wearing Pink lipstick?
