Palin's 'plumber' shoutout

From NBC/NJ's Matthew Berger
BANGOR, Maine – Sarah Palin evoked the highlights of her running mate's debate messages Thursday as she worked to pick up at least one of Maine's four electoral votes.

"As John McCain reminded Barack Obama last night, if he wanted to run against George Bush, he had his chance four years ago," she said at an airplane hangar rally. "This year the name on the ballot is John McCain and America knows that John McCain is his own man, he is the maverick."

Palin also evoked "Joe the Plumber," and his female counterpart, Jane.

"You know, we want to cut taxes because we think like Joe or Jane the plumber thinks, OK?," she said. "Our opponents want to raise taxes because they think like that other Joe, that six-term senator from Delaware whom I'm running against."

Palin made a quick stop in Maine, not getting farther than Bangor's airplane hangar. The campaign hopes that the visit could help pick up at least one of the state's four electoral votes. (Two are allotted to the statewide winner and one to the winner of each congressional district. Bangor is located in the state's second congressional district, which is viewed as more conservative.)

Joined by singer Lee Greenwood and Sen. Olympia Snowe, Palin acknowledged the state's tradition of electing females to federal office.

"Maine, you all know something about those cracks in the glass ceiling, but the women of America aren't finished yet," she said. "Maine, with your help, this November we are going to shatter once and for all that final glass ceiling."

On a prior Post I saw a few tributes to Palin. Let me tell you I read this and yal should know what other countrys think of her as well. From Irelands , The Irish Times "it's a scary thought that America could be 1 halfbaked Alaskan away from the Presidency"!!! All of you so called former Democrats will cut off your nose to spite your face are crazy if you are real. Face the truth if you like what Sarah Palin is preaching then you are one of the Morons that helped turn this country over to Shrub and Cheney so the could rape and pilage the pockets of the little man as their fat cat buddys ride off into the sunset with cash to burn.  Ask yourself . Why do you believe their hype again ?  Why ? They have tricked us into a war they have given no bid contracts to their buddy and you think McShrub is different. Yeah right that's why he is using the same people that stuck a knife in him when he ran .  Pathetic I tell you . Just down right Pathetic.
Obama/Biden all the way
why does she think she think  she is running for president and not VP.  she takes 2nd best as the last ceiling??
Yawn. Sarah better get to know Joe and Jane plumber a little better, cause she needs them. Her abusive attacks have put the McCain Palin campaign in the crapper.
Has anyone told Sarah that Joe the Plumber, when invoked by McCain last night, drew mostly negative responses from viewers?  There is a reason this campaign is doing so poorly.  Mis-management!
"That six-term senator I'm running against."

Does she think she's running at the top of the ticket?  Seems like she's a drag on McCain.

And it seems like women from Alaska have got her pegged, according to an interview Andrew Sullivan posted yesterday on his blog:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/10/alaskans-get-it.html
Hey Sarah,  McBush couldn't even answer the question in the debate concerning your qualifications.  He talked about "how proud he was of you".  NO QUALs!  What is he, your dad?   Proud of his kid, who does exactly what she is told!  Sad!

Transparency?  Oh, NO!  Abuse of Power?  Oh, YES!

Sarah, go back to Alaska!

Counting the days until we see the back of this twerp.
Palin is a Joke!!!   Joe/Jane the Plumber will be much better off under Obama because they will be a Small business with Tax Write-Offs, Incentives for creating new jobs, etc.   Joe can figure out how not to make 250K as an individual if he uses his Small business Status as he is allowed.  He be like the Most of Us 101 Million househouses..... Not McBush ites who make over 250K and get all of the tax breaks etc.

A RABID REPUBLICAN NOW FOR OBAMA!!!!
Biden, Kennedy, Kerry and especially Obama are just a few of the main arguments FOR term limits. This country is in peril should the Obama Trauma get into office.
Hey Sarah, you forgot to mention Rosy the Riveter.
She gets more silly everyday.
"I can see Maine from an airport hanger".
Sarah is an anchor and we all know how smart an anchor is.
And John thinks she is ready to be President.
Sorry John, she was your BIGGEST mistake.
19 more days of this idiot and we can then send her packing back to Alaska where she can wave at Putin when he flies over. Geesh! This woman makes me sick.

                     Obama/Biden '08/'12
Which final glass ceiling?  The vice presidency?!?  Or does Gov. Palin believe that she will be elected President, or that she has another avenue to that office through this election.  Scary!
OMG...she  scares me!!! I really hope folks see that ticket for what it really is which McCain last ditch effort to get in the White House. The man has tried and done every tactic he can think of to get votes!!! I would hate to one day to wake to hear or read in the morning new "President McCain has passed away to night of natural causes VP Sarah Palin is not President" OMG I would leave the Country ASAP!!!
be quiet Palin. You have no clue what you are even talking about!

And thanks to the over use of Joe the plumber, he probably will make $250,000 - in business for becoming "America's favorite plumber."

If he understood what Obama was saying, he would have to agree that he is better off, tax-wise, with his plan. If he votes for McCain, he is surely making a mistake.
"This year the name on the ballot is John McCain and America knows that John McCain is his own man, he is the maverick."

really, a maverick votes 90% of the time.  really??!!!

thanks but no thanks to more of the same
Joe the plumber is a fraud. The media needs to be careful about jumping on the bandwagon of someone without investigating the entire story.

He is a republican who is not making over 250,000 a year so in fact he would get a tax break under Obama.
eh...whatever! Palin has so.. many skeletons that everytime she speaks, a bone flies out of her mouth!
Nothing but old, overly used catch phrases and the same lies. How can anyone support those whack-jobs?
This Joe Plumber thing is a nice little narrative--but he's not really a plumber. He's an entrepreneur who bought a plumbing company. So, while he may enjoy an occasional six pack he hardly has to think about its cost as much as someone not wealthy enough to just up and buy a company.
<<"...America knows that John McCain is his own man, he is the maverick.">>

Good one, Sarah!  McCain sent his once-respectable values down the river this election so he could pander to extreme conservatives.

Real stand-up work there, John!  Way to be a maverick!
The only cracks I see are the ones in Palin's head. She was a terrible choice for Veep. Joe the plumber my sweet patootie. It is all falling flat.
"I don't care who's in the White House. Have a drink on me."
Those that have put cracks in the ceiling shudder whenever Palin opens her mouth.  Intelligence, hard-work, preseverance, grit, created those cracks, not a throwback to the folksy past when women were chosen simply becasue they were women  (like Palin).  Palin does not have what it takes to shatter the ceiling.
Yes, the final glass ceiling - VICE PRESIDENT!

With your help and that of the wayyyyyyy more qualified Olympia Snowe, you betcha we're gonna get that darn Senator Biden and his pesky tax cuts for 95% of you.

Simple Sarah is a moron. Everyone can see that.

Obama should have pointed out that a tax break for 95% means 5% aren't going to be that happy, and if Joe Ride-em, Pony!'s business makes more than $250,000 in profits, it wont make the "happy" list. What's so hard to understand? It's not "everybody gets 100% of what they want," like McCain is selling, and we ALL know better!

Sorry Joe, but the other 95% of us say: find some way to re-invest profits to under $250,000 / yr, and you'll probably be OK. Not that tough, really.
1. Joe the plumber is a registered republican and he will only pay taxes on his profit, not his income, if he buys his business.  He will still be allowed to name his own salary as a business owner, so unless he pays himself more than 250,000 from his business every year, his taxes won't go up.  But never mind those silly details.
2.  All this Joe on every MSM outlet is just another "shiny thing" for the media to talk about today, because they're all so tired and bored with this campaign, and in their infinite wisdom, they assume this is what Americans care about right now.  Sorry, not so much.  We have 3 kids we're trying to get through college on money we've saved that is disappearing every day--does McCain want to come by and explain to our youngest why she might have to leave the college she loves and worked very hard to get into and go to the local community college instead?
No, he's too busy talking on his free cell phone service at one of his 11 houses about Wm Ayers and how hurt his feelings are.
Joe the Plumber makes over $250,000 a year and would even pay less in taxes than the other 95% of our citizens. So Palin's plumber Jane would get the same tax breaks under her running mates Bush/McCain tax plan. Palin has just confirmed that helping the rich get richer is great, and not helping the 95% of other Americans is sound economcic tax policy in her very challenged mind. She also confirmed in Maine today, that she is not for real change to help the 95% of Americans that are suffering.Oh that's right! Just like the McCain/Bush policy, Palin does not believe in equal pay for equal work. No wonder Palin can some how try to rationalize this in her mind. By the way. What is she doing running around freely when she has ethical violations and abuse of power charges pending against her in Alaska? Justice is still not being enforced here! Why not?
"we think like Joe or Jane the plumber thinks, OK?,"

which means:

"we know how to keep the crap flowing."
Blah blah blah Moose barbie. Bush is YOUR PRESIDENT and he is a Republican. Your fellow Republicans have a responsibility to stand to his stupid, arrogant policies. And Obama was a newcomer to politics in 2004. So, please shut up and eat your mooseburger.
What debate was I watching? Senator Obama successfully "nailed" Senator McCain on every single issue. Senator McCain was more "forceful" this time around? Big deal. What good is that if his policies are all wrong? Anyone can ACT tough.

Senator McCain was mean-spirited. Senator Obama was respectful, but very clear on every single issue presented to him. Senator McCain talked GOP talking points. Senator Obama presented a new vision for the 21st Century that included responsibility - from us all.

Did Senator McCain mention something about our military going straight into teaching education? If that's true, look out Europe. You had better get your weapons in shape. Because McCain only thinks war, war, war, military, military, military. That's what patriotism means to him & his supporters.

Our kids need better educations in school; they need to be taught to be aware of what's going on in this country and to be ever mindful of the right wing. They are a very dangerous segment of our population.

They need to grow up and recognize whey they're being "bs'd".
See Below - Not sure if this is true anyway to verify?

If this is true there is NOWAY mccain has a chance now. Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who's Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles keating's son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired Wurzelbacher is also a majot contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the past few years. Oh, McCain -- what an idiot! This is so going to torpedo any trust American voters have in you! And to bring Keating back into the discussion! What an idiot! Mr. Morris, have you been advising McCain?
I want to see a smart, strong woman break through that glass ceiling just as much as the next gal, but come on, America! I'd rather wait a few more years than allow Sarah "Parrot" Palin to enter into the second most important job in America, spouting out McCain's rants. SHE doesn't represent the sort of woman America needs. SHE is just as erratic and irresponsible as her puppet master McCrazy.

OBAMA/BIDEN '08!!
Well, we know what McCain's platform is going to be the rest of the election: Joe the Plumber.  And how dare Palin still tout the glass ceiling statement!  How many times do I have to say this?  You, ma'am, are NO HILLARY CLINTON!
McCain/Palin 08

Swirling aound the bowl.

Good job, Joe the Plumber!!!
One thing I have to say is that you are not running against Joe Biden.  You're just running.  Joe Biden gives press conferences, although not much lately, does interviews, and is an open book.  You, dear lady, is the total opposite.  I don't have anything against you but after the last eight years of secrecy and demonizing opposition, the American people do not have the stomach for more, I don't think.
Perhaps you might also like to bring to light the plumbers' union that has endorsed Barack Obama?  That would be a nice counterbalance, and truth, to the whole "Joe the Plumber" thing.
Is it just me but the way they use the term 'maverick' seems a little odd and it makes it so damned CORNY??!!!!

she sounds really tired right now; nothing but canned warmed-over stump speeches again and again . . . where's the spontaneity? Oh I forgot: They haven't sanctioned that yet!

sarah, get over it.  Your comments are now falling on deaf ears.  Enough with the scripted repetitive rhetoric.  It's over.  And you lost.
Silly Sarah:  Where were you? Not in the spin room. Not next to John McOld. Not talking to any major news networs.  Get a clue girl. The only republicans who are interested in you are the right-wingnuts.  Moderate and independent voters know that your are...silly.
Mrs. Palin that final glass ceiling your talking about is for President .Last time i looked your running for Vice President.Do you know something we don't?
Hello, dodo.

Unless you are running for president, and I think that is the REAL position you have your shooting-wolves-from-airplanes cross hairs on, you are not going to break the "final glass ceiling".

You are actually running for VP in case you have forgotten.  And, oh yea, you and McCain are losing...
I AM SO PROUD TO BE AN OBAMA/BIDEN SUPPORTER.

Sen. Obama is a brilliant man with a steady hand and wisdom who will lead The United States and her citizens back from the brink to a country once again brimming with prominence, honor and prosperity.

Sen. McNasty said today ‘WE SHOULD LEARN FROM OUR PAST AND OUR MISTAKES’!  McLame/Falin are either suffering from senility or they’re just plain stupid.  If we elect McWar, we will be repeating every mistake from the past 8 years.  Get a grip America, this duo that by the way would be the first ticket where both candidates have been convicted of ethics violations.  WOW, do we really want another administration that winks at ethics charges?

The McDisaster campaign has run completely amuck… They’ve lost sight of what is important, the economy, change, and most of all Americans do not want more Carl Rove/Steve Schmidt/Rick Davis tactics running our Country!

Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden are both intelligent, wise, calm and both have a great deal of integrity, I for one want my next president and vice president to be intelligent, wise, calm and possess a great deal of integrity.  We need these attributes to heal our country.

I was listening to the interview you played between Joe 'the plumber' and Katie Curic this morning.

I'm wondering if you caught two statements made by Joe?

At one point he said...Obama is an eloquent speaker, he even speaks better than me, and then later he made reference to
Sammy Davis Jr.

I don't think there is much uncertainty about which he is going to vote for!

I am an Obama supporter with an open mind who has voted both sides of the isle.  However, McCain is grouchy, old and I believe showing sign of senility.  And his running mate chops off word endings and thinks it's cute.  She has been charged with ethics violations as has McCain making their ticket the only one where both have been charged with ethics violations.  AND, Palin is the last person I want as a roll model for our young people.  Now we hear that her future son-in-law will be dropping out of high school.

We've had 8 years of stupidity in the Whitehouse; we can't afford more of the same.

Donna
