Obama raises over $150 mil for Sept.

Posted: Sunday, October 19, 2008 8:26 AM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
Well, we knew the number was going to be big, but still probably not this big: The Obama campaign announced this morning that it raised more than $150 million for the month of September. To put that amount into perspective, it's nearly twice as much as the $84.1 million McCain received in public funds for the entire general election (from his convention to Election Day). In August, Obama raised $66 million.

Moreover, the campaign said that it added 632,000 new donors for a total of 3.1 million contributors to date.

That stunning, and I am sure McBush gonna spin it.
Obama 08
In the words of Frank Barone: Holy crap!
WOW!
That is awesome!  Thats how a grass roots campaign is ran and you run a campaign from the bottom up...ran BY the people...FOR the people...This is the PEOPLES campaign and I think it is wonderful!! You go Obama/Biden!!
Wow! Let's take it to the finish line!!  Go Obama/Biden!
I encourage all "True American" Democrats to read the article below.  It was written by a Democrat and should be carefully considered before we vote on November 4th.  Ask yourself what is more important..voting your party line, or protecting the freedom of America?

And, those donations mostly consist of $25 given
by people like me.
Barack Obama is running against the sleeziest
campaign in the history of our country.
And, unfortuately, there are some who believe
the trash the republicans have put out.
But, thank God, the majority do not.
I watched the video from Plouffe!

I just hope we can spend it as fast as we raise it; Plouffe is right when he says McCain is just going deeper into the gutter by the day. We need the money to expose the lies and overcome that now famous 6% racial deficit Obama starts with.

There are powerful people that want more of the same tax cuts and war spending that threaten to bankrupt us, and just like Cheney lying to Congressmen behind closed doors, these people will stoop to say anything to discredit Obama. Obama devoted his entire adult life to helping the middle and lower class, foregoing massive salaries he could have made and living in
slums. These people will try to make him seem socialist, anti-american, non-american and
dangerous.

In fact on EVERY POINT they are liars and hypocrites; they socialize risk, want to bail out foreign banks, raise taxes on the middle class (your health care benefits) and drop taxes on the upper crust, let American laws be written by and for lobbyists and  American courts be run by the far religious right, and nothing could be more anti-American and un-american than THAT.

Go Obama, crush the corrupt liars in the pockets of lobbyists. You've got my money and my vote.
Obama Fundraising Fraud

CBS News.
Reports two more donors to the Obama campaign that gave a total of $7,722 appear to have made their contributions under fake names that look like they were written by a mouse running across a keyboard: Dahsudhu Hdusahfd of Df, Hawaii with the following employer CZXVC/ZXVZXV and Uadhshgu Hduadh listed as living in Dhff, Florida listed their employer as DASADA/SAFASF.

WASHINGTON/PRNewswire -- The Republican National Committee (RNC) today filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against the Obama for America campaign addressing its acceptance of foreign national and excessive contributions. The complaint demonstrates that the Obama campaign has failed to comply with federal campaign finance law in its fundraising.

Newsweek:
Taken notice of the problems in its article Obama’s ‘Good Will’ Hunting, and has noted  McCain camp made all of its donor information public while the Obama campaign has refused???

American Spectator:
Obama's Fishy $200 Million reports that an unnamed auditor for the Federal Elections Commission is being prevented investigating questionable fundraising techniques by the Obama campaign. Obama has already had to deal with several FEC complaints about fraudulent donors and illegal foreign contributions, and the FEC says those complaints have not been resolved. Obama camp has been cagey about the means by which it has made its historic fundraising hauls, which now total almost $500 million for the election cycle. His opponents during primaries raised questions about the huge amount of e-retail sales Obama camp was making for such things as t-shirts and other campaign paraphernalia, and how such sales were being tracked and used for fundraising purposes. While the profits of those items counted against the $2,300 personal donation limit.

Ignorned by MSM. FEC analyst says that Obama's filings indicate he has received large, bundled sums of donations from overseas, sometimes exceeding a quarter millions dollars. "It's suspicious, and it's the small donations made by credit card that need to be examined.  Obama camp ignores the FEC. Until recently, the Obama Web allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Unlike McCain's or Sen. Hillary Clinton's online donation pages, the Obama site DOES NOT ask for PROOF of CITIZENSHIP!!! until recently. Clinton's presidential campaign required U.S. citizens living abroad to actually fax a copy of their passport before a donation would be accepted. With such lax vetting of foreign contributions, the Obama camp may have directly contributed to questionable fundraising by foreigners.
OH....MY.... GOD......

I don't use caps lightly. What, are we watching Brewster's Millions or something?

He's be raising money like a madman in October, too. How can you spend some 200 million in one month??
$50 dollars of that came from me.  He's getting another $50 this week.  We can't let McCain/Palin and their politics of division and destruction get anywhere near the White House.

wow!!!! what a record!!! this is just amazing! People really want things to change in this election. they're tired of dirty tricks and swiftboat politics. Is this the beginning of the bottom up economy era? I think we don't talk too much about the change that all of this represent. This guy, an african american candidate, with a little record on the national level raising hopes of millions and breaking all records ( crowds at rallies, fundraising, donors, etc.) . If he lose, then I'll have many problems understanding the complexity of this country. God bless america!!! All parts of it of course! Even the pro ones.
Yes  . . and I just donated more money to the Obama Campaign for October. I have had enough of the Republican smears and ridiculous guilty by association crap.
The average take was $86...this is truly amazing.

America seems to really understand just how much the Republicans have messed up this country and what kind of an effort it's going to take to put us back on the right track.
I love it!!!  You know I believe in Obama and I trust him to bring this country back on her foundation.  McCain keeps going on about taxes.  You know McCain raised taxes on the middle class by not supporting bills that would of helped the middle class.  I will continue donating to Obama-I give what I can on a weekly basis.

WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO BEFORE NOV 4TH-
VOLUNTEER, DONATE AND DON'T FOREGET TO VOTE-
OUR VOTE MATTERS!  OUR VOICE MATTERS!  FOR
THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1964 WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
WE CAN HELP MAKE THE CHANGE.
Thank you Sarah Palin!
It is the most impressive campaign ever ran in American history.Senator obama is making history in all areas. What is most surprising, is the negative vicious attack launch by the mccain campaign.Obama started with the support of the middle class and poor Americans. To suggest that Obama is fooling Americans;then the Mccain camp is either not paying attention of what"s happening or  they are in delusion.150 million in 30 days is very compelling.
OBAMA/BIDEN All The Way
As Stephen Colbert is fond of saying, The Market has Spoken!  Wow what wonderful news that the Obama/Biden campaign raised $150 million in just one month, and there's still October to watch for more fundraising.  I bet the Dumb and Dumber ticket are green with envy, tee hee.

Hip Hip Hooray for Colin Powell endorsing Obama!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
This is amazing news as well as the news that my favorite Republican in the world, Gen. Powell, has endorsed Obama-Binden! This restores my hope, a little, in the Republican Party.
I wonder if the McCain/Palin camp notices that there is a direct correlation between the amount of attacks lies and smears they spread about Obama and the amount of money he raises.  If they did, maybe they would stop.  Just a thought.

Obama/Biden '08!

$150 million dollars = good riddance to the GOP.

After all of these months of listening to Senator McCain, I have changed my mind. I, like most of us here @ First Read, have been following politics very closely for years, and I had long ago come to the conclusion that the most clueless, empty headed & meanest politician I had ever seen was Senator Elizabeth Dole. Lindsey Graham, #2.

It is quite possible John McCain now has top honors. He has not presented one new idea in this campaign to convince me of why I should ever consider him as our next president. Not a single one. All I see is a candidate who has used a combination of divisive politics, fear & war mongering, manipulation, city vs. rural Americans, educated vs. uneducated Americans & just plain outright lies.

Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter & the entire cast of Fox Propaganda - it's payback time. You all failed miserably with your un-American activities. We're bigger than you & we're smarter than you. The country does not belong to you. See, we get it. Your "conservatism" is a code word for "racism".

It's the 21st Century now, so get used to it. And in the meantime, catch up on American history. You just might recognize yourselves when reading about some of our more uglier moments. Because that's what your legacy is going to be after all is said and done.

And it is true that one of your pals, G. Gordon Liddy, as part of the Nixon Administration, was all gung ho for bombing the Brookings Institution. Isn't that something?

Now that's what I call un-American.

Congratulations to the Obama campaign. Tremendous efforts by all.
Here is the icing on The People's cake... former Sec of State General Colin Powell has just endoresed Barack Obama for President. Like Barcack Obama would say, "John McCain was right, Change is Coming"!

Go Obama!
08'/'12/'16(why not???)
That's what happens when people like me, my family and friends give $10...15...25....

Obama08!
To Delaney & Garrett-
In defense for Obama, you know there were several donations given to him by Lobbyist-(personal donations), he returned those checks.  He thanked
them and returned the checks.  Knowing Obama he will make sure that this money is returned.  You know the difference between McCain and Obama?  McCain tries to think his way into right acting but Obama acts his way into right thinking.

Obama had to face many barriers because of his color and he has handled it with grace. He is graceful and grateful for the opportunities he has been given in his life.  Look---he just paid off his student loan-  He has one car and one house-Obama is not self-
indulgent!

I AM PROUD TO BE AN AVID SUPPORTER OF A MAN WHO
IS PROUD TO BE AMERICAN-  GO OBAMA/BIDEN 08
The McCain message de jour is that Obama is a Socialist with the implication that McCain is a self dependent capitalist.  Yet it is Obama whose campaign is supported by voluntary independent contributions and McCain who has chosen to rely on the federal government to redistribute our tax dollars for his campaign's benefit - which could and should be called socialism.

The more McShame/Fallin bash Obama, the more I will donate.  We the people have made our decision!!!!!!!!!  I just all this crap would come to an end and we can start focusing on putting our great nation back together.

Go Obama/Biden 08/12
he now also have gen iraq powell on his side along with ayer father fluck and pastor wright.
Iv'e donated multiple times, why? because I believe so strongly in the positions OBAMA is taken on many issues. I fervently believe he is what this country needs right now. HOPE-YES! CHANGE-YES RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER-YES BELIEVE_ YES!!!! To see what has been going on these past few weeks with the digusting dirty politics of the republicans just cements my position for change. Folks.. this election is so important for this country and our standing in the world we all must VOTE. NO EXCUSES!!! Make sure you go vote regardless of what the poles may say.EVERY VOTE DOES COUNT!!! aka 2000 and 2004.
It humors and horrifies me, that Americans Garette and Delaney will spread slanders like their's willy-nilly.  If their points were even close to plausible, don't you think that the Fascist News...er, Fox News Network would be running them 24/7.

You two, and those like you should stop braying Hannity and Limbaugh talking points and just f'ing think!

If you'd rather not think, than perhaps you'd better just start showing up for your rallies in uniform to show your solidarity with a racist, anti-middle class WASHINGTON POLITICIAN.

My suggestion is that you wear Brown shirts, and maybe march in unison to some music.  To properly express your patriotism, don't march to "Born in the USA" (sung by an anti-American Obama supporter), or "God Bless America" sung by someone who believed in an accepting and loving God.

Instead, you racist and fascist supporters of McSame/McPhalin should embrace your true song--the "Horst Wessel" song...
Garette Phil PA

You guys, Obam haters, are finished. save your effort for something better: no matter what you say, 7:01 PM, November 4, Vitginia will be declared for Obama. and this thing will be over. McOld and McUnfitfor president will go back to his ranch to leak hi wounds, GOP will be demolished to non-irrelevant party and that's what gonna happen very, very soon.
I think Obama supporters owe a great big thank you to Sarah Palin for energizing so many people, like me, to make multiple contributions to Obama/Biden over the last six weeks.

She's been just a great motivator!  Great job Sarah!!
cue the band taa taa daaa this just in forwmer sec state colin powel has endorsed Sen Obama can it get any better for the man that i send my hard earned money to sweeeeeeet this message is approved by me Mr Independent in Minnesota Joel "hussain" shove that in your pipe an smoke it you whinny dumb an dumber Obama/Biden 08/12 come on chuck or anyone just plezzzzzz post one of my comments

Delaney-

I checked out your link. First of all, it's a blog (already tainted with opinion rather than fact). Not to mention that the site is hocking pro-McCain/Palin books, tshirts, etc. and anti-Obama stuff. Think about where you're gathering information before using it.
The great thing about this is the feeling of involvement  that people get from donating amounts that are within with their budgets. Even $5 is significant because it pays for some expense of the campaign. I am sure that we who support Obama at whatever level are all very proud to be a part of  this positive event in American history.
He raised so much money because people are terrified of Palin being that one feeble heartbeat away from the presidency.  I personally donated $200 in September, more than I could afford, but Palin just cannot be anywhere near that button.
