Obama rallies 100,000+ in Denver

Posted: Sunday, October 26, 2008 4:35 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Athena Jones

DENVER -- At his second six-figure rally in just over a week, Obama urged his supporters to vote early and again linked his rival to President Bush.

The campaign, citing police, said more than 100,000 people attended the event here.

Obama talked about comments McCain made on Meet the Press this morning. “Just this morning, Sen. McCain said that actually he and President Bush 'share a common philosophy.' That’s right, Colorado. I guess that was John McCain finally giving us a little straight talk -- owning up to the fact that he and George Bush actually have a whole lot in common,” he said to laughter from the crowd gathered on a chilly Sunday morning near the state capitol building. “Well, here’s the thing though: We know what the Bush-McCain philosophy looks like. It’s a philosophy that says we should give more and more to millionaires and billionaires and hope that it trickles down on everybody else.”

This morning, in talking about his differences with Bush and others in his party, McCain said: "Do we share a common philosophy of the Republican Party? Of course. But I've, I've stood up against my party, not just President Bush, but others; and I've got the scars to prove it."

In rallies in Nevada and New Mexico yesterday, Obama joked about McCain’s recent efforts to distance himself from the unpopular Republican president -- at one point calling McCain Bush’s “sidekick” and saying that McCain attacking Bush for his economic policies was like “Robin getting mad at Batman.”

The Democratic nominee, who drew 100,000 people to a rally under the Gateway Arch in St. Louis last weekend, told Coloradoans to go out and vote early him -- just as Bush did for McCain -- and argued that as president he would do more to help the middle class.

Denver is in a strongly Democratic county, where Obama is hoping to boost turnout. He was set to hold a rally in Fort Collins later today, which is in strongly Republican Larimer County. Polls show Obama leading McCain in a tight race in the state, which Bush won in 2004.

In talking about his tax policy, Obama mentioned Bill Clinton -- something he does from time to time on the stump. He said he would roll back the Bush tax cuts on the very wealthiest Americans, so that they paid the same rate they paid under Clinton.

"By the way, they were doing fine under Bill Clinton. In fact, they were doing better under Bill Clinton because everybody was doing well," he said. "And those who owned businesses, their customers could actually afford to get their products and hire their services."

Hillary Clinton often invoked her husband's administration on the trail during the primaries to remind people about the relative prosperity of his two terms. Obama is set to rally with the former president in Orlando on Wednesday.

The McCain campaign sent a response to Obama's speech that sought to link him to Bush policies. “Barack Obama can’t name a single issue or philosophy on which he’s opposed the Democratic-controlled Congress -- not one," wrote Spokesman Tucker Bounds. "John McCain opposed President Bush’s wasteful spending policy, his Big Oil energy policy and his efforts to grow the federal government by 40% -- Obama supported Bush on all three."

What about FISA? I'm a liberal Democrat and it broke my heart when Obama voted for it and I'm still kind of mad at him for it but don't tell me he's never broken with the party. He certainly upset a lot of the Democratic base with that vote.
Well, well. 100,000 people. So far, I have yet to hear a rally where McCain drew that many people.

As for McCain, he still has not bother to say what he will do about taxes if he is Prez. Obama time and time again made that point that he will simply just roll back those Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, while McCain seems like he will support the cuts. Anyone who supports tax cuts for the wealthy should not be Prez, since those cuts do not help the middle class or lower class at all. The 'trickle-down' system just does not work.
Wow. Am so pleased to see the crowd turnout for
Barack Obama. Way to go Colorado. Next stop is
Fort Collins and imagine he will get a wonderful
reception there.
The American voters are letting the republicans
know we no longer support their policies, their
non accomplishments and their sleezy tactics.
We are voting country first!!!
100,000!  now THAT's a Baracky Mountain High for sure, you betcha, yup yup!
A little straight talk is surely needed McCain and some truthful answers.

BTW: Obama too has survived battle scars fom your scurrilous campaign and Hillary. Obama has survived...
Outsourcing
“Moose head” Sarah Palin open your mouths it’s to attack Barack Obama

Socialism
Islam phobia (Barack is a secret Muslim)
ACORN exotic
Fake birth certificate
Not akin to Joe the Plumber

Seemingly is just to win by causing fear, McCain?
Also Obama knows how to win. Ask Hillary
I'll be awaiting your erratic answers on how to win; especially how to capture Bid Laden!!!! !!

Go Obama/ Biden

Tucker:

Go fix pipes with joe the plumber, and smoke you some of that stuff in the toilet bowl..........
Good for Denver, I'm from Pueblo Colorado and I already cast my vote for Obama.  Obama is leading by 12 pts. according to the Rocky Mountain News.
For Obama to have broken with his party, he would have had to vote with the Republicans!  The fact that he didn't is just one more reason for me to vote for him
I just returned home after attending this rally.  Folks, this was the most incredible experience and Barack hit the nail on the head when he said in his acceptance speech at Invesco Field that something was stirring across America.  At today's rally, there was a palpable feeling of hope and solidarity amongst the sea of 100,000+ people, and that a refreshingly new dawning is coming to America.  After many years of disappointment and anger at the current "Do Little 'n Do Wrong" administration, this 45 year old man arrived home with a renewed sense of optimism.  The sheer magnitude of the hope and joy of it brought tears to my face.  Let freedom ring!  Peace.
If all these folks at these rallies and all of these record breaking donations do NOT translate into votes on November 4th, something is definitately suspicious.
Tucker Bounds?  He's a real clown!  Time for him to find a new job.  I for one am sick of his stupid statements.
"SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!!!!!

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel  in  Nevada  for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. . They failed and it closed.
Now Obama wants to trust your health & your life to a pack of bureaucratic nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house!

OBAMA'S HEALTHCARE PLAN WILL USE THE SAME NIT-WITS TO MANAGE YOUR HEALTH CARE.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MANAGING OBAMA'S HEALTHCARE PLAN. WHO? (Sent Sunday, October 26, 2008 3:01 PM)"

You're an idiot!

If you think McNasty's HC Plan of $5000 (2500 if single) is a good idea, you're blessed. You must be the healthiest SON OF A BYTCH in the country.  Please share your secrets with us mere mortals.
Not a good strategy.  People aren't going to buy Obama is Bush.  It just makes people laugh. In fact, all of McCain's crazy stunts have made most of us completely immune to anything he says.  It's like the crazy old guy who wanders around town, he's kind of interesting but you know everything he says is luney toons.  Sen. McCain lost all credibility about a month ago.
Looking good people.  But as my G'ma used to say, "keep your eye on the prize, child".  Don't lose yourself in all these good feelings and forget or neglect to actually VOTE!
Yeah, anyone notice that they DO show the crowds when Obama speaks, but never when McCain does?

That's because if you pan left or right at the McCain rally, you see that no one is there...

America is going to shine again - from sea to shining sea - when we finally elect Obama/Biden. Together, we'll rebuild this country from the bottom up - green jobs from alternative energy, healthcare, tax cuts for the huge 95% of working middle class and poor -- instead of corporate welfare and rich get richer tax cuts.

Not only will this country shine again here in America, but the rest of the world will know we are SERIOUS about changing the cowboy "I will NEVER surrender" mentality of George Bush and John McWarmonger.

No more 10 BILLION per month fighting for Iraqui Oil and the Bush/mcCain EGO.
Trickle-down hasn't worked for 8 years (did it ever?) and certainly won't now that the millionaires and billionaires have lost millions and billions too.
WAY TO GO DENVER!!!

Now get out and vote....I could not attend this rally or the DNC Convention.  Wow I really miss living in Denver right now!!!

Obama/Biden '08
Did you hear the news in Syria?

Won't you be glad when Barack Obama is in office with Joe Biden and taking steps to put this country back on a path of working WITH our allies and all the nations of the world to build PEACE?

Even George Bush seems to be taking steps outlined by Obama, rather than following the ideas of John McCain. It may be that Bush is trying to rebuild his image -- HEY... maybe HE is tired of being compared to JOHN MCCAIN!

I'm looking forward to saying "President Obama" and KNOWING I have a president I can trust to be honest, sincere, wise and diplomatic.

I wouldn't trust John McCain anymore than I'd trust a snake. He's one of those guys who just can't stand losing and would do anything, say anything, including lies - and put himself first, even before the USA and Americans.
Note to McCain/Palin:  Change IS coming, in the form of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.  The crowds in Denver are awe-inspiring, as were the crowds in St. Louis and Portland, OR.  I have yet to see the Republican presidential ticket draw anywhere near that kind of crowd, even with their revered Snow Queen Sarah. It's gonna be a Democratic election year!!!

Obama/Biden, '08
Has MSNBC checked on how he is getting this large of a number? No (LOL)
MCSHAME & CAMPAIGN have no idea how to run a decent, honest campaign! Look @ all the CORPORATE KRONIES he's got running his campaign.ROVE TACTICS ONCE AGAIN!!!! The RePUKElican party are all a bunch of whores, being PIMPED through SPECIAL INTEREST CHENEY,ROVE,BUSH. I urge you sheeples, that are so Pro McBUSH, read up on this FAKE WAR HERO!  He only spent actual time fighting when he got shot down! Once the enemy found out who he was, they treated him quite well!! He's an ANGRY OLD MAN, SHOWING SIGNS OF DEMENTIA, P.T.S.D. and  CANCER
WAKE UP SHEEPLES!!
"Robin getting mad at Batman" -That made me laugh out loud.

We're so close to the finish and Obama's looking stronger every day, while McCain looks like he's ready for a six-month nap!  Get out and vote, and then sign up for a shift to get your friends and neighbors to the polls on Election Day!
Why does the McCain campaign let Tucker Bounds speak for him? He does such a sad job and his language is just awful. Senator Obama OPPOSED Bush more than 90% of the time while he is in the US Senate vs. McCain was SUPPORTED Bush more than 90% of the time. Now Tucker may say that this meant Senator Obama wouldn't stand up to his party, but I agree with Obama that he opposed Bush during the time of  horrific Bush Republican partison politics. I say that is a strong plus for Obama and a strong negative for McCain. Areas that Senator Obama spoke out was against the Iraq War from the very beginning (one of the very few!!). McCain on the other hand raged to go after Iraq days after 9/11. He continued that rage all the way to handing a blank check to Bush. No, I think this is an easy call to say the McCain- especially over the last 4 years- is Bush's sidekick.
McCain and Palin seem to be frightening smug. It is reminiscent of the picture of George W. Bush smirking in his hotel suite after Dan Rather announced that Gore had won Florida in 2000!! It is as if McCain and Palin know something that the rest of us don't.
Vote early and get everyone you know out to vote! We know now that gore won in 2000 but He didn't win by enough. No matter where you live or what the polls say get everyone out to vote, especially the ones who tend to be forgetfull !!
I do not understand why the McCain campaign keeps saying that voting against your own party is a good thing.  All it means is that your party was wrong to begin with.  Barack Obama voting with his party means that be thinks they got it right.  I guess I would rather be governed by the party that gets it right in the first place.
Will not matter. GOP is going to initiate "military event" to scare people into voting for the Repukes. MARK MY WORDS, as our own guy Biden said! Only it will be BEFORE the election, not six months after an Obama election.
Not completed related to the subject, but I went to vote early yesterday at UNM Campus and I must tell you, I was hassled to the point where I started to tear up and thought I wouldn't be able to vote!  A "gentleman" told me that I wasn't in the system, though I offered my name, which was written out on a card before him, my birthdate and my social security number.  I sat there with him for over ten tense-filled moments thinking I was going mad.  I finally asked for someone else to help and she stated the same thing.  I truly believe they thought that if they could discourage me enough, I might simply get up and not vote!  They obviously don't know me.  I mentioned that I registered to vote when I moved to NM from CA seven years ago, voted in 2004 (for Kerry) and in the Primaries this past winter (Obama).  I was "conveniently" found in the system after a total of 21 minutes of panic.  By the way I'm bi-racial (black/white), one of the few blacks here in Albuquerque.  In my heart of hearts, I do believe I was targeted, as my white husband and three friends had absolutely no problems.

On another note, there were over 50,000 people to show up for Obama last night at UNM.  Earlier in the day McCain was here at the fairgrounds to a "crowd" of 1000-1500!

Thankfully, I voted yesterday.  OBAMA.  (My vote had better count!)

One last note, last night I read an article regarding the GOP trying to block voting rights of largely Hispanic and black votes.  Now I believe it.

Obama/Biden 08/12
The McCain/Palin ticket is the FIRST IN AMERICAN HISTORY in which both candidates were found to have VIOLATED ETHICS STANDARDS before a national election! For REAL CHANGE VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!!! How can anyone trust these people.. McCain has made poor decisions throughout this campaign-from putting lobbyists in charge of his campaign, to choosing an unqualified, dishonest and unethical running mate, to changing his message and vision almost daily. His campaign is inciting hate and division.

He may have been a brave soldier, but a leader he is not.
People need to see this. This is what this election is all about.

What Biden says about his grandkids & inspired 5th grader are priceless.
As a left leaning Indy, I am firmly behind Obama. Just cynical and skeptical though. I really think that the GOP will stoop lower than a snake's belly to pull this out. Foreign event- coming right up. WATCH!!I fully expect the Syria thing to take on an ominous tone in the days leading up to November 4th!!
Linking Obama to Bush? Are you kidding me? Follow me on this...so if Obama is a socialist and they are trying to link Obama to Bush, does that mean Bush is a socialist? And since McCain voted with Bush over 90% of the time and he shares the same views, doesn't that mean McCain is socialist too? Just sayin'.
Ms. Clinton mentioned the "relative prosperity of his two terms" when referring to Bill Clinton's eight-year
reign.

That would be the "dot.com" era.
Tucker Bounds is the ultimate idiot!!!!!!!  Him and Puffinfluffer, Bleekman.  I will be so glad when this is over and they will crawl back in the hole they came from.
Saw the pics from Colorado.  Go Denver!!!!!!
Go Obama/Biden 08/12
Scary...I don't ordinarly watch FOX but last night I saw two correspondents getting giddy about the potential of Palin being the heart of the Republican party in four years! Are there any rational Republicans left? If I were a Republican I would be extemely embarrassed about its leaders, its followers and especially about its future!
If McCain is as different from Bush as he claims, why did Bush have a big ceremony of voting for McCain ? McCain voted 90 percent of the time with Bush. He supported that Bush decision that is costing the US tousands of lives and billions of dollars in Iraq. Saddam was no saint, but, HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 !No amount of attacks on Obama can distract us from the fact that McCain's hands are dripping with the blood of innocent Americans ! You shared his decisions, McCain, now, share his disapproval ratings.Americans, God-fearing, red-blooded one and all deserve better than a repeat of past mistakes.
Last night in Albuquerque Obama drew a packed crowd of 35,000 to a stadium, there were 15,000 outside because they could not get in; McCain drew about 5,000 earlier that afternoon. Today Obama draws 100,000 people in Denver! Where are you McCain supporters? Embarrassed? You should be!
Obama speaks before crowds of 100,000 and McCain is lucky to get 12,000 and in some cases less than a thousand. It looks like a possible landslide for obama.
A fool never learns ... and fools can gather by the thousands.
The great thing about Obama is that he can only last 8 years, not a day longer than President Bush.
Mr. Bounds is one of the many clones in the ranks of the "Masters of Misinformation" speaking incorrectly for the McCain-Palin Campaign. Mr. Bound's time would be better spent tutoring Palin how to read, and comprehend information presented to her honestly. It is great to see such large crowds come out for Obama in Denver. I hope that all of these people have already voted for change, and those who did not need to shortly. Vote early. and "Remember New Hampshire!"
never ever, nuttin close to this, ever....
and it is growing...
The first candidate for president with his own SYMBOL. How brilliant! This may become the next American Flag of our new leader, to flush the memories of America’s past once and for all. One world, under Barak Hussein Obama.  Pour another cup of the juice and let it pass between your teeth and gums cleansing your mind heart and soul of America’s sorrowful past. Welcome to the new world order. We will not be denied. Your future and fate are no longer in YOUR control. Barak will be the leader in the new world where the power shifts, our time has come, we have arrived! Obama/Biden 08!
100,000 people at a rally is impressive!  Go Obama/Biden!
When people are thirsty for good, intelligence,  knowledge, crowd will be drawn.  We, Americans, are thirsty to see someone smart in oval office. Someone who can lift our spirit and make us believe in ourselves again; and that, as a Nation, together under one flag, no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, we can fight and get the country back in the right track.   We have recognized such person in Obama.  Vote Obama/Biden'08
The numbers of attendees at Obama's events are becoming more and more of a strong indicator of where the nation's mindset is at this time. People, simply, want change. A change away from Republican ideologies, toward a more moderate and 'fair' handling of their monies. Obama brings the fresh air that we all desperately need.
4,000 people showed up for McCain in Denver.  Over 100,000 for Obama.  Battleground state?  We think not.
Obama/Biden 2008
Yes, Yes, Yes He Can, Yes We Can!  Barack Obama is the most qualified candidate. He has the "integrity" and "compassion" which both McCain and Palin claim, but lack.
Our country has suffered from "lack of leadership, lack of direction, lack of honesty, and lack of morals. We are still in a "war" that McCain says he can "win". "Win" what, McCain and Palin? Define "win" and explain all the horrendous casualties and unending outrageous monetary debt to justify a "win" in Iraq. The Bush WMOD political puppets have darn near destroyed our country. They lied and invaded a country, a "piece of cake, huh?  What a price we’ve paid for this betrayal.  McCain is out of touch, and Palin is so eager to follow him into the White House, where she will "lead" the Senate.  She also is betting on the odds, and figures she will succeed McCain before his term is up.  Our country does not  need as POTUS this poorly suited, trigger-happy, boastful, belligerent and sourly sarcastic  John McCain.   I hope that those in favor of McCain will do some real soul-searching before they cast their vote.
We have become the “Divided States of America”, with many individuals believing that only their values are “right” and that only their religion is the “right” one, etc. There has to be an agreement to come together for the good of our country.  Life is too precious, and we have no more time to waste in this tug-of-war.  Our country is divided into sometimes extremely hostile party members.  Barack Obama is the one who has the innate skills to not only provide hope, but the ability to unite us to work for a cause.  Barack Obama will work with us to bring back the spirit, the pride of the "United States of America".  I’m seventy-one, and I hope to see our country start to recover, with Obama leading the way.  I want my grandchildren to have a chance to grow up in the country that promised a government of the people, by the people and for the people.  They deserve it.
Obama seems to have a Teflon quality because the American public is hesitant to criticize an African American. If Obama were white, he would have been crucified a long time ago.
All Obama says in his speech is empty hyperbole.  And like a Gumby without integrity, he bends his words to fit what the public wants to hear, prostituting his words for a vote.
We know nothing about Obama, the only thing we know is that it is politically correct to vote for a black man and not ask questions.  This need to vote for someone because of their race is an insidious and destructive form of discrimination.
But what the populous fails to consider is Obama’s past actions and associations which clearly demonstrate a hatred for this country and horrendous bad judgment.   And Instead of addressing the accusations of associating with terrorist and mob members, Obama reacts like a terrorist by threatening all who dare to criticize or challenge him.
I have never given credence to the idea of an Anti-Christ, until now.
Come on Tucker, you could do much better than that. I think I read somewhere that McCain drew a crowd of 4, 000. Sen. Obama 100, 000 both in CO. Wow
