*** In with the new… : A brand-new NBC/WSJ/MySpace poll illustrates not only McCain’s challenge come Election Day, but also the challenge the Republican Party could face in future elections. In the poll, Obama enjoys a more than 2-to-1 advantage over McCain among first-time (read: 18-21 year olds) and lapsed voters, 69%-27%. These voters have a much more positive view of Obama (64%-27% fav/unfav rating) than average voters do (56%-33% fav/unfav in last week’s NBC/WSJ survey). What’s more, they have a much more negative view of McCain (29%-59%) and Palin (23%-54%) than average voters do. All of this suggests that a big turnout among these new and lapsed voters would benefit Obama on Election Day. The only question is: Will they turn out? In the poll, 66% say they are certain to vote -- but that’s far less than the 90% of all voters who said that in last week's NBC/WSJ poll. Dem pollster Peter Hart compares this (potential) Obama advantage among young voters with the evangelical advantage Bush built in '04. Yet unlike Bush, Obama can count on this advantage in every state, not just in the handful of areas where evangelicals are concentrated. What does this mean? The young vote/new voter demographic could provide Obama a 3-5 point buffer with the rest of the electorate.

VIDEO: NBC's Political Director Chuck Todd offers his first read on the up and down sides of tonight's Obama infomercial and the Democrats' attack ad against Sarah Palin.

*** … And out with the old? A very ominous sign for the Republican Party is how Democratic-leaning these new and lapsed voters are. Not only do they back Obama by a 69%-27 margin, they also prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress by a 2-to-1 margin, 66%-31%. And their views of President Bush? His fav/unfav among these voters is 14%-73%. Ouch. While Karl Rove had ambitious hopes of turning Bush's presidency into a permanent majority for the GOP, this poll suggests that Bush's lasting legacy could actually be turning off a new generation of voters. After all, consider what young voters who came of voting age during the past seven years might associate the GOP with -- the Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina, the current economy, various political scandals (Jack Abramoff, Ted Stevens, etc.), and Bush. Speaking of the president, the White House released his schedule from today until Sunday, and get this -- the sitting president of the United States will not be campaigning in the final week of the campaign. Amazing. In fact, as NBC’s John Yang notes, Bush hasn’t made a single public campaign appearance with a GOP candidate this cycle. He has raised money for them, some $150 million this cycle. But that's down from the $186 million he helped raise for the GOP in the 2006 cycle.

*** Obama’s big day: While both presidential candidates have busy schedules, check out Obama's day. He holds a rally in North Carolina; stumps with Biden in Sunrise, FL; tapes an interview with Jon Stewart that will appear tonight; tapes an interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson that will run tomorrow; and then appears at an 11:00 pm ET rally in Orlando, FL with Bill Clinton. (Call it the "Barack and Bill Show." It’s the first time these two have campaigned together, and on any other day this would be today's cable chatterer of the day.) Oh, and then there’s that 30-minute TV ad buy the campaign will air tonight at 8:00 pm ET on NBC, CBS, FOX, MSNBC, Univision, BET, and TV One. The New York Times got a sneak peak of the buy, and the paper says that part of the time, Obama is speaking to the camera; at other times, the advertisement highlights everyday voters and their troubles. No one believes this 30-minute special is an automatic homerun. There's some risk here if it looks presumptuous or too much. Then again, when is the last time that Obama has flubbed a big speech?

*** “Not ready --yet”: Meanwhile, the McCain campaign has a 30-second ad it’ll broadcast nationally to respond to Obama’s infomercial. One word in the ad jumps out at us, and it will at you, too -- "yet." It's an oddly positive term when it comes after the phrase "he's not ready." It implies to the viewer that, someday, Obama might be ready. And it reminds us of conversations we had a few months ago with various McCain partisans, who believed if they could convince voters that Obama would be president someday if he loses this year, then McCain could win. That word "yet" is aimed at those voters who want change, are tired of Bush, aren't thrilled with McCain these last few weeks, but aren't convinced Obama's ready. It may be too late to make the "McCain as transitional president" argument, but this is a fickle electorate.

*** Obama camp plays the Palin card: McCain, though, isn’t the only one up with a new TV ad. The Obama camp has unveiled a new one that uses McCain’s past quotes about his lack of understanding on economic issues. And it also appears to be the first Obama ad that brings up McCain’s choice of Palin as his running mate. The script: “John McCain in his own words ‘I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.’ Wall Street Journal, 11/26/05. ‘The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should.’ Boston Globe Political Intelligence, 12/18/07. ‘I might have to rely on a vice president that I select” for expertise on economic issues.’ GOP Debate, 11/28/07.His choice? (Shows a clip of Palin winking.) On November 4th, You Get to Make Yours.” Now if history is any guide, attack ads on running mates usually don't work. But then again, Palin's no ordinary running mate.

*** Too close to call? Last night, the McCain campaign released a memo from its pollster, Bill McInturff, who argued that his polls show the race to be tightening. “The McCain campaign has made impressive strides over the last week of tracking. The campaign is functionally tied [Editor's Note: "functionally" is an interesting term, but we digress] across the battleground states, with our numbers IMPROVING sharply over the last four tracks… As other public polls begin to show Senator Obama dropping below 50% and the margin over McCain beginning to approach margin of error with a week left, all signs say we are headed to an election that may easily be too close to call by next Tuesday.” The fact is, McInturff doesn't make up poll numbers. The key to this election and understanding which polls are right and which ones are wrong have everything to do with projecting turnout. What percentage of the electorate will be under 30? What percentage will be African-American? If you know the answers to those two questions, you'll have a poll that's more likely to be correct. Some other interesting nuggets in his memo: McInturff believes turnout will surpass 130 million; that's actually a conservative estimate given that others believe the number will get closer to 140 million and possibly even 145 million. Also, McInturff believes something we've argued for some time: Obama's poll number will be his number in a given state; undecided voters will break for McCain. And it is this final point that does have McCain folks not throwing in the towel yet. While there might not be such a thing as the "Bradley Effect," there could be a "Wilder Effect." In Doug Wilder's race, he was at 50% in the final polls and that's basically what he got on Election Day. It was enough for victory, but undecideds dramatically moved against him.

*** Polls, polls, polls: By the way, here are some of the most recent battleground polls we’ve seen. New LA Times/Bloomberg surveys have Obama ahead among likely voters by seven points in Florida (50%-43%) and by nine points in Ohio (49%-40%). New Quinnipiac polls show McCain gaining ground in Florida (Obama ahead 47%-45%, down from 49%-44%), but Obama maintaining big leads in Ohio (51%-42%) and Pennsylvania (53%-41%). Finally, a slew of new state polls from the AP: Florida (Obama 45%-43%), Nevada (Obama 52%-40%), New Hampshire (Obama 55%-37%), North Carolina (Obama 48%-46%), Ohio (Obama 48%-41%), Pennsylvania (Obama 52%-40%), and Virginia (Obama 49%-42%).

*** The Mississippi Senate race: When he hit the road on a swing through the politically hot Southern United States, MSNBC.com's Tom Curry spotted an Obama ad during the 6:00 pm local news in Jackson, MS -- a state that hasn't given a Democrat a victory since 1982.  That may be surprising, until you take a look at the demographic groups that will help decide Mississippi's Senate race on November 4th. The contest pits an embattled Republican incumbent, Roger Wicker, against former Governor Ronnie Musgrove (D), who's seen $7 million pumped into his once-unlikely campaign by the DSCC.  An Obama-fueled spike in turnout among African Americans -- who made up about 34% of the electorate in 2004 -- could mix with Musgrove's high name recognition to launch the Democrat to victory and the Senate one vote closer to 60. Wicker has a big lead in polls, but when you talk to strategists, the assumption is that huge African-American turnout will close things dramatically. One thing to keep in mind, though: There's no party ID on the ballot. If there are a bunch of new voters showing up who haven't followed the race but want to vote for the Democrat, they won't know which one is the Dem on the ballot; they'll need to know this information before the go into the polls. Day of information campaigns is going to prove potentially decisive for Musgrove.

*** The ballot prop in SD: South Dakota, not always the laser focus of the nation's political attention, caught a piece of the election spotlight in 2006, when it voted down a ballot initiative that would have banned almost all abortions. That measure, which did not include exceptions for rape and incest, was viewed as too restrictive by a majority of the state's voters, who rejected the initiative 56%-44%. This year, South Dakotans will take up a similar, though less restrictive, ballot initiative that includes more exceptions to an abortion ban but would still -- if passed -- likely prompt a Supreme Court showdown over one of the country's most controversial topics.

*** Fun fact of the day: Dela-where? With McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, and Dem running mate Joe Biden all attended the University of Delaware, it's worth pointing out that prior to 2000, the state was a bellwether. It voted for every winner from 1952 to 1996 -- tied for the longest streak of any state at the time.

*** On the trail: McCain spends his day in Florida, holding a “Joe the plumber” event in Miami, a national security roundtable in Tampa, and then another “Joe the plumber” event in Palm Beach. Obama attends rallies in Raleigh, NC, Sunrise, FL (joined by Biden), and Orlando, FL (joined by Bill Clinton). Biden separately campaigns in Jupiter, FL. Palin, in Ohio, delivers a policy speech on energy in Toledo before hitting rallies in Bowling Green, Chillicothe, and later Jeffersonville, IN. And Michelle Obama stumps in Rocky Mount, NC.

I think Obama's 30 minute add tonight is money well spent. It shows how serious he is about this election, not taking anything for granted.
He needs to make sure that all bases are covered. Although I personally felt the last 2 elections were stolen, it should not have been that close to begin with that it left room for cheaters.

This time around, God willing, the margin will be big enough that Obama gets a mandate.

Kudos to him and his team for running a terrific campaign. Smart, aggressive, well planned.
The right people for the job.
Unfortunately for McCain, Americans are not as stupid as he thinks.

____________________________________________________

Yes they are, they are being taken in by Obama and will not realize it until 2010.

The sleaziest tactic of all is "buying" votes. A 30 minute spot on prime time TV, millions to do a last minute push to sway voters....the way that he is spending money now, imagine what will happen to the Federal Deficit!

Sorry, I do NOT want a "slick" used car salesman running our country!
In almost every country I know, election day is a holiday. That is to make sure everyone gets to vote. No excuses.
If you have to wait in line for 5 hours so be it. It is such an important event that'll affect the course where the country will go that an official day off is called for.
Otherwise, hold it on a weekend. The way it is now caters only to the Republicans who always count on low voter turn out.
So let me see if I understand the erratic McCain message of the day.

Obama is a socialist, friend to terrorists, unpatriotic and downright treasonous... but he'd be an okay president someday. He's just not ready yet.

Okay, got it. Thanks for playing, Sen McCain.
Obama has pushed the "four more years of George Bush's failed policies" so much, but not for the reason of attacking MaCain. Barack Obama has used Bush, not as a reason for change, but as an excuse for failure. Obama is future-minded, if not anything else. If Obama becomes President, he will continue to use Bush as an excuse for the next four years. "If it weren't for Bush, we wouldn't be in this mess." Like his school initiatives in Chicago, Obama's big plans will be fruitless. Luckily, he's spent the past year making sure his scapegoat remains in center stage.
I love Barack's new His Choice ad which quotes McCain on his lack of economic knowledge.  I disagree with First Read because it isn't attacking Sarah, merely showing a clip of her wink clearly shows her ineptitude.  I can't wait to see the 30 minute spot tonight.

Time for change.  Vote for competency, character, unity.  The true poll is November 4.

Obama/Biden '08
I passed around a paper at work on who do you think is goin to win

20:1 in favor of obama
McCain   can anyone give one good reason or point to one thing the bomber has done that would make his case?26 years of riding coat tails? All the times your daddy bailed you out of all the problems he had ?The guy has a hole lot of pages missing from his military records, anyone know where they are?The guy is toxic,a time bomb waiting to go off,and his mate has nothing to offer, except more of the same trash she spews
"They are apparently obsessed with racial or religious bigotry"
Evangelical for Obama,if you are suggesting that people won't vote for Obama because of his skin color, the only people to blame would be the democrats.  No true republican would vote for Obama because of his stance, not his color.
His "tax break" for "95 percent of the people" is not true.  40 percent of Americans don't pay income tax ... so let's call a spade a spade: it's a government program NOT a tax cut.  It means that those 40 percent of the people will receive a welfare check every month that we pay for.  And you notice how Obama's dollar amount is changing for these "tax breaks"?? First it was people making under $250,000.  Then it was people making under $200,000.  NOW it's people making under $150,000.  It will never stop.
Laura K:

Why so mean spirited?  We are one of the few if not the only industrialized nations that do see election day as important enough to close up shop.  We have some of the lowest voter turn out as a result.  Perhaps shutting down for a day to celebrate this event is actually a good thing.
Blake, Durham, NC (Sent Wednesday, October 29, 2008 9:57 AM)

Didn't see any thing mean spired about Laura's post. Sarcastic maybe. But Blake, most people, whether it's good times or bad, need to work to put food on the table, cloth their families, save for future education needs, and pay their taxes. Obama is just out to lunch if he thinks people can take a day off just because he says so. And working people are fairly creative, they can work and vote, all on the same day.
If it's one thing about Biden, it's that he's too stupid to lie. Now according to Joe, "Rich" is down to a $150,000 income per year. So anyone making over that amount will see their taxes go waaaaay up. Soon it will be $100,000, then you $40,000 a year people will be getting taxed more. And Joe, thanks for the heads-up.
Tax Me More Because I Like It (Sent Wednesday, October 29, 2008 9:35 AM)

-----------
How misleading and untrue is your post? So much so, I don't know where to start, other than to direct you to Obama's home page, where you can plug in incomes and see what his tax plan will do for you.  The fact is the plan will not mean a single tax increase for anyone single making under $200,000, and anyone filing married making under $250,000...thus Biden said was true - if you make under $150,000 you will get a tax cut...the improper implication you and repukes are making, that that's the threshold for a tax increase - is illogical and not born out of all non partisan analysis of Obama's plan.  Put simply, your post is a big fact lie!
Okay....MSNBC and First Read....

I will give you my points that the polls are much tighter than you all show...that the race is closer than all of us can bear...execept for the Press' Horserace Mentality, and that this country is still very divided.  How do I know that?  Why...I live in Florida and I still believe, if Obama pulls off Florida...it is over for McCain. But the cynic in me does NOT think Obama will win Florida.  The Idealogue in me is working very hard to change MY OWN perception of how tight this race really is; and the polls be damned!  Bottom line...WE'LL SEE ON 11/04/08.
Michelle Zee, I am a christian, and I disagree with your statement that the Evangelicals are all that is wrong with america. True Christian Evangelicals aren't killing, stealing, and etc...we only speak up what God's word the Bible say is wrong. I am supporting Obama, although I don't agree on the abortion issues, or gay marriage. Those two issues I agree with John McCain, but thats it. It seems people think Christians can't support Obama. I am a true christain, and I can't support McCain.
I wonder how much different tonight's infomercial will be from the Obama channel that has shown up on my satellite provider (Dish).  It's all Obama, all the time.  Interesting that I haven't seen any commentary on this advertising.
I have a comment,  as usual no one in the media has the courage to be a reporter or ask any offending questions.  But my comment is less than a week away from electing a president to the largest and strongest free republic in the world why has no one asked Obama to produce a birth certificate.  A actual document not the forged one on his web site.  Thats my comment where are all the reporters and investigators?  Guess the news is just like the Jerry Springer show and is all entertainment and no facts.
Eric Black Moon township PA (Sent Wednesday, October 29, 2008 10:01 AM)

--------
Look at factcheck.org and you will see that his question of his birth certificate has already been puyt to rest...so stop bringing up a falsehood in the last week...typical of you desparate mccainites.
I cannot believe that All the Obama supporters are so stupid and blind to the facts.  If he is elected you will all get what you deserve.  The problem is that the people who don't deserve it will get it too.
Obama is a idiot,  why bother stopping at taking off tuesday,  and become more like everyone that gets to spred the wealth,  take off monday also,  it only takes 5 minutes to vote,  I guess the other 7hours and 55 minutes is to waste employers money why not there all rich and do not need employees the goverment will take care of the bills and the mortages.  cant wait for the future of our children under Marxism.
Given that the polls are all over the place, no one should be comfortable in either the Dem or Rep campaign headquarters.  Watch the Rasmussen polling since that group has been very close to accurate predictions in 2004 and 2006. Toss out any poll (for now) showing Obama with double digit leads.

It remains to be seen if the "cell phone voters" (ie 18 - ?) actually go vote. If they do, hopefully Obama will be the new President.

We Obama supporters CANNOT let up and have to help in our respective states and counties.

THE PROPAGANDA MACHINE MOTORS ON!

Gimme a break! Wasn't it Churchill who coined the phrase, "Liberal in youth, convservative in age"?

Young people always want change. When I was 18, my first vote was against Bush 41. I didn't know what he stood for. I didn't care. All I knew was he was a Rupublican, which equalled Reagan, which equalled my parents being barely above "American poor" (which is about 10 - 20 times more wealthy than the poor in 3/4 of the rest of the world!). I voted for the Democrat! What was his name again?!
Now, I am married, a father of 5, and working to provide for my future, my family's future and my children's future. I am more conservative. I need to keep more of my money. I pay local, state, and federal taxes. They do things for me, but I don't want them doing things for me that I could do myself.

My parents complained about the 80's... Less people working, bigger divide between the wealthy, blah, blah, blah..... but something happened. More kids realized they couldn't make it without going to college. Then the 90's came and those kids created wealth for themselves. they did it on their own.

My parents are teachers. They are in the tank with Unions and Democrats and government. I lived in DC area and knew alot of government workers. Any working person would be appalled and disgusted at the treatment of government workers compared to their own.

I know of very FEW gov't employees that realize that their salary comes from our taxes. It bothers few of them that any minor abuse (fake sick leave, removing office supplies, etc) is stealing from the American people. Those things happen in corporate America, but if I increase cost for my company, they in turn must pass the cost to the consumer. If the consumer can find that product somewhere else cheaper, then my company is punished with lower sales, and I may be fired.

It's really very simple! It's the free-market economy at work.

I cannot vote for any candidate that is against the workings of the free market.

Unfortunately, both candidates are weak on this value. Hussein, however is much weaker than McCain. Plus, I don't trust him. He has a VERY short track record and what is available is not very convincing for a center-right voter.

McCain-Palin '08
"My thought is that Mccain is cocky and does not have
the smarts to be president. He will be worse then Bush.Sarah is not experence enough to be vp. She takes things to likely. I do not like the idea that she has spent so much money on her clothes that it make me think what eles she is capiable of doing.  Look at Michelle, she weres plain clothes and doesn't try to be anyone eles but herself. She is wonderful and smart. By the way what does Mrs. Mclain do????"

Good God!  Sarah did NOT pay for those clothes.  They are provided to her, and when she is done wearing them the clothes go to charity!  But rather than discuss Sarah's clothes, which is such an important issue to the running of our country, Sarah has a helluva lot more experience than Obama.  Sarah is the ONLY one of all three that has executive experience.  Obama has 144 days of experience ...  Wow!
The real question isn't who is more experienced.  The real question is who will lead us down the path that America needs to grow?  If you listen to each candidate's speeches, John McCain really doesn't offer much when telling us what he would do.  He mentions a few ideas to try, but not much detail into them.
Barack Obama on the other hand mentions in every speech what he would do to lift this country up.  Not all of his ideas may work, but at least he's offering them to the American people for us to decide.  I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the McCain/Palin campaign stands for.
Then there is the negativity of the campaign.  While I agree that both sides are guilty of negative campaigning, I've seen much more of it from the McCain camp.  Now why is that?  Does the McCain/Palin ticket feel that insecure about their party platform that they cannot run on what they can do for our country, but run on what the other guy cannot deliver?  I don't care what someone believes the other guy won't do, I'm much more concerned about what you can do for our country.  And in that respect, John McCain loses.
There is no doubt that the next 2 years will be challenging for any president.  And many may be concerned about the "experience" factor.  But the president does not really rule alone.  That is why presidents have advisors.  The key to who will be a better candidate is who they now surround themselves with.  John McCain surrounds himself with Sarah Palin, George Bush, and the old Republican political machine.  Barack Obama surrounds himself with Joe Biden, Warren Buffett, and people with strong backgrounds in their fields who offer differing opinions.
At the end of the day, I want someone with fresh ideas.  John McCain doesn't have any.  Barack Obama does.
Well the time has come, My time, Our time to have something we've never had and thats a brown face like mine... Ummmmm Im on edge and Im praying because I know that what God has for Obama is for Obama...

And like Wayne said who would want a fool like Sarah Palin and dotn John Mccain look like his heart is about to fail him.. What it do a new voter 22...

Of course he isn't ready 'yet'.  First read may ignore it, but, but, yesterday, Nicholas Sarkozy, (you know, the leader of France), called Obama "dangerously immature" in his attitude toward Iran.

If you read these blogs, you'd think that the Europeans LOVED  this guy; in fact, while the BBC likes him, it is only because of his pro-Palestinian slant on Israel.

My job entails a lot of interaction with Europeans, and, I can tell you, they were contemptuos of Obama during his excellent adventure last summer.  The only thing that drew the Germas out to hear him speak was the free concert-a hallmark of all his events, by the way-Merkel found him to be 'all stuff and no substance'.

There are those in the international community that hope for an Obama victory, however:  Venezuala, North Korea, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, - all those who would destroy this nation and Israel, to boot.

There are some who believe, wrongly, I think, that Obama would be good for our economy, and who are leaning toward voting for him on that basis.  There are those who would vote for the dEmocrat if Osama bin Ladin were on the ticket.  And there are those who would vote Obama if he were convicted of murder.  So be it.

However, there are those people who are 'leaning' to him, or who have not yet made up their minds;  to those people, I say, THINK about his candidacy-the constantly changing definition of 'rich'; his complete lack of experience; his inability to make a decision in a crisis; and his 'dangerous immaturity' in dealing with our enemies.

Then go out and vote.
Poor John McCain, he still thinks the year is 1974 and whatever he says will stick in the minds of the voters for weeks on end...well Johnny, it's 2008, we have the internet and 24 hour a day news cycles and by the time you finished spewing your talking point, it's already been fact checked and spit back out by technology.  Your Rovian tactics won't work in the age of the internet.  Learn it. Know it. Live it.  And when you leave, don't let the door hit you in the @$$!!
Way to look out for your country Sara McAtee. Very sad.
I don't think the Obama ad is a slam against Palin; it's definitely a slam against McCain's judgement in his selection of his VP choice.    McCain doesn't know anything about the economy and neither does Palin.
‘Looks like John McCain is redistributing the wealth himself. After all, McCain just voted for the bailout bill, which redistributes money from tax payers to wealthy Wall Street bankers. That’s what you would call corporate welfare, another form of socialism. McCain is a hypocrite.
Young people support Obama because they are naive, uneducated, unexperienced, and have no money to be taxed on.  It's that simple...  Young and dumb, as the saying goes....
Can any of you Obama kool-aid drinkers please explain to me about the Obama birth certificate that was presented recently where on it was his name of Barack Obama.  Way before that he said that his name was changed from barry to barack at the age of 13.  So how come it was barack on the certificate?  You bunch of sheep are blindly following a liar and a socialist.  You are going to wake up one day soon and say Oh My God, what was I thinking voting for this guy?
I am 73 years old. My opinion is that experience and family background, values and upbringing is the best way of dealing with running this country and what we want this country to be; THE BEST We seniors have the advantage of looking back and determining what has worked.  My memory tells me that the person we want to be President of this United States should be a person that can make our lives as close to what our constitution says; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Senator McCain to me has those qualifications.  He has a family history of serving this country.  Barack Obama has a family history that is very dysfunctional at best.  I am not critizing his background but there are too many unanswered questions.  Also his platform is one that cannot be carried out if he is elected President.  No matter how hard we try, we cannot make life equal for everybody.  That's were experience with life comes in.  It won't work. My views are probably simple to some but I think most senior citizens will agree with me.
Obama is one of many lead singers in the "New Kids on the Block"....Approximately 40 years ago, Senator Robert Kennedy came to the University of Wisconsin - Madison and was greeted by the same sort of infectious excitement following Senator Obama today. Both men had similar bases of support among  blacks, well educated whites and particularly with students, and both were also wonderfully charismatic campaigners.

I remember those moments as being some of the most idealistic of my life and quite possibly any student’s life back then. Yet, with Obama, as with Kennedy long ago, though I’ve never harbored any doubt that they are good and fair men, I see their greatest gifts being their ability to skillfully paint a future time much changed from the present, and to portray themselves as leading the nation into that future. And because I feel someone like Margaret Thatcher proved that charisma is not a prime quality in a leader, I feel it’s important to remember that the most powerful person on Earth is up for election, and leaders from other countries will not care about the personality of our President, only about how he or she performs their job
I can't wait to finally get a female in the white house. The wheels are coming off the Nobama train. The skeletons are coming out of the closet.

McCain/Palin 08

One Monday, in Florida, a news station was banned from having any more interviews with Obama people because the interviewer asked Joe Biden tough questions.  He was asked about comments that Obama made that were Marxist.  Biden lied and said he did not say those things, and yet, they had the video proof of two occasions Obama said these things to back it up.  Sounds like they are really trying hard to cover up what Obama is really like and his camp does not want the public to know.
I've been watching Plain speak in Ohio, she and McCain want to build 45 nuclear power plants, and more oil refineries and of course "drill baby drill". My question is whose backyard will Palin/McCain build these plants? Maybe the people around Three Mile Island will want these in their neighbourhood.
Wait a minute...

"One thing to keep in mind, though: There's no party ID on the (Mississippi) ballot. If there are a bunch of new voters showing up who haven't followed the race but want to vote for the Democrat, they won't know which one is the Dem on the ballot"

No party ID on a election ballot? What is that, an attempt to trick the voters? If there's not a law against that, there definitely SHOULD be.
I do believe Obama is not that bad of a person, But I do believe he will win not because he is the best person for the job but because he will  get the G. Bush haters The white democrats and and all the black vote because he is simply Black. And that is not going to do this country any good as long blacks will not let the past slip into the sunset.   Obama is just not  ready yet.  JIM
McCain’s policies are clearly aligned with the interests of big business. When discussing his economic policies he proudly quotes CEO’s of big business, the same greedy people who got us into the economic mess we are in today. Obama, on the other hand, policies are more friendly to the middle-class and poor. Now what message is the conservatives like “Joe the Plumber” hearing? Clearly, Obama’s tax policy will benefit “Joe the Plumber” more than McCain’s. Why would a person vote against his best interest? Surely, they can think for themselves. Alternatively, is something else going on? Is  calling Obama a socialist a coded message? I think that the McCain camp is trying to say that Obama is different.  You know….he may not really be a socialist but he is “different.” Lots of people buying that argument if the latest polls are correct.  Scary.
Well, good for all of you Obama supporters.  His administration will do more for the republican party than you can imagine.  Remember the real train wreck known as Jimmy Carter.  Well, his administration will look absolutely brilliant compared to Mr. Obama's socialistic administration.  America is going downhill as people are looking for a handout rather than a hand up.
That was what this country was about up until this last generation.  People used to work for what they wanted.  I know people have forecasted this demise before but look at where we are and the huge debt we owe as a country.  Heap Obama's deficit spending on top of that and you get the picture.
Unfortunately, I believe the electorate is more enamored by the glitz and shine of Obama than his character and his platform.  Used to be, we elected the best, but no more.  Good luck to everyone wqho actually works.  Hold onto your wallets as the great "spread the wealth experiment" is right on the horizon.
I concur with Pat from Boston!!
If Obama takes the Bush tax-cuts away, as he has promised to do, won't we ALL be paying higher taxes under Obama's proposed "tax cut" plan?  Also, I've heard Obama, as well as Joe Biden, each give different amounts of where the tax cuts would start.  Obama first said $250,000.  Yesterday, in his speech in Pennsylvania, he said $200,000.  And Joe Biden yesterday in a speech said "$150,000."  Does anyone really know exactly WHO will be getting a tax break?  They seem to be all over the board, and unsure of what policy they will actually implement.  I guess they are having a hard time trying to recall what lies they have told, and the figures they used in the previous lie.
A big smile and a good TV image is all most of you first time voters need. Just like picking Amercian Idol.
These same people who tell you that you are not responsible enough to drink a beer are the ones who tell you that know enough to pick a president.

The economic meltdown has been in the works for years - since the 1990's if you can read and some say as far back as LBJ. You cannot give loans to people who are not making enough money to make the monthly payment - so they got a house to live in for free for about 6 months while they trashed it - check it out. Many of the others were flippers who got caught with straw buyers and such. Besides, it is world wide problem - not just here.
When Obama raised Corporate taxes, more jobs will go overseas. Only Japan has higher Corporate taxes than the US.
I am afraid you will really find out what high unemployment and a depression really is.
Plus, you will not find Congress looking for the persons behind the mortgage mess - the two top culprits are Dodd and Frank. Frank as been on the committee for years and headed it for the last two. They got the most money along with your Poster Boy.

When you forget history, it repeats itself - so, since most of you don't know history - here we are again. Welcome to the Late Great USA or the USSA.
As for Obama Politics, I hope he can change history by being the First Successful Black Leader. I sure hope he does not turn into an Edi Amin or something worse. Only time will tell.

PS: For those of you who want the Government to take over health care. I am glad I live near the border becuase I can go to Mexico.
When Congress gets involved - only Congress makes out. Did you know they can serve only 6 years and retire with full pay and health care????

Benjamin Franklin said: "When a Politician finds out he can give himself a raise, a country is doomed." How many years has Congress been giving themselves raises????
Has Palin interveiw her and Todd gave to the board been reveiwed yet if so revea the fact or Chris and Keith do your jobs and give us the people the new's you guy's have been clean on Hillary and Obama plus do we know for sure that McCain was de-programmed or does he have like most vietnam vets have post depression he said he was a abused POW for he does wink and twitch a lotnow that's scary how could he handle a crisis wit calmness shucks he panicked on the bail-out
The republicans have not put one person in the public eye that is not arrogant and condescending.Do they really think they are better than anyone else? I see how Palin has resurrected the "base" It is bringing out the worst, Some of the statements on this blog prove it. Young people do not want to keep hearing hate and fear and negativity. That is not reaching out to the future of this country.
All Obama cares about is Obama.
BUSH / CHENEY '08
They're That Good!

Why don't you Obama backers line up over here...I'll give ya some more kool-aid to drink while I check your lobotomy scars...
What most voters do not understand is that there are times in our history as a Nation that we do not need a President who is supposedly an expert on all the issues. This is why they have the luxury of being able to appoint a cabinet and individuals to various posts who are experts. What we need is a President who can inspire and uplift people. Reagan was a prime example. Many liked him not as a result of his grasp of the issues (domestic or foreign) but because he was inspirational for many people.

We are fortunate this year as we appear to have a Presidential candidate who is both inspirational and intelligent in Obama. Such people are rare and hard to find. The country would certainly lose a great opportunity to elect such a rare find if Obama were to lose this election.

The same cannot be said about McCain (who is not inspirational at all and whose intelligence can be questioned to a degree), or Palin (who may be inspirational to some but lacks the intelligence required).

Reject Obama and you will have missed one of those few rare moments in history where a leader who is both inspirational and intelligent comes along.
Eric, Black Moon:  Obama's birth certificate IS posted on Factcheck.org under Born in the USA.  Would all of you give up on that PLEASE?

Here is why McCain's polling is wrong.  I can imagine that they are doing a 2004 type sample.  They are undersampling youth, because they are certain they won't show up, ditto minority vote.  The state to state polls don't reflect that McCain's polling is accurate.

And I am still waiting to hear from Chuck or Mark as to why MN has not been put in the likely Obama column?  You show a fundamental misunderstanding of the politics of this state.
This message is for Gregory Peek, hey buddy before you shoot down the 18-21 year olds and classify them all as Liberals here are few things you should know:
1. Check your spelling, ripping others apart about not knowing how many Senators there are and then you not being able to spell Senator does'nt help your case.
2. Liberals?  Those 18-21 year olds have gone to war (or what Bush convinced them was a war), to defend people like you.  You know the ones who have no heart for wifes, husbands, mom, dads, children and other family members that have to watch their young ones go out and prepare to die for the rights of people like you!
3. Take it from a WHITE 40 year old mother of five, and a college student, yes I am educated and will become a teacher soon.  My son is 18 and he voted!  He is not a liberal, democrat or republican.  He is like his mother an INDEPENDENT!  Who made the right choice OBAMA/BIDEN!  Down with failed politics, prejudice and ignorance which is exactly what "that one" has to offer.
