Oh my God (less) !

A week before the election, pundits are abuzz with speculation that Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole, once considered unbeatable in North Carolina, may be on her way to a defeat at the hands of well-funded newcomer Kay Hagan.  Things must be looking pretty tough... Check out this new ad from the Dole campaign, which slams Hagan for attending a September fundraiser with members of the "Godless America" PAC.  The spot highlights comments from members of the "secular" group, including one who proclaims, "There was no Jesus."

The ad concludes "What did Hagan promise in return?"

Hagan's team is calling for a cease-and-desist order, calling the spot "the nastiest, most misleading, negative ad of the campaign."

And Dole seems like such a nice lady. Who knew that underneath all that grandmotherly appeal is, well, a Republican?

The Godless America PAC, huh. Sheesh. These Republicans and the games they play.
Between Sarah Palin, John McCain, and Elizabeth Dole, we've taken a step back to the 1950s where people were called communists and blacklisted. Calling candidates and constituencies godless, socialists, marxist, and anti-American, not to mention the indirect labels of terrorist or 'foreign' or Muslim, is horrifyingly irresponsible and backwards.
Is it wrong to not believe there is an invisable white haired robe wearing being that lives in the clouds somewhere? If you believe that and it brings comfort to you then more power to you, but others should not be outcasts because they don't believe. This is where the repukes are wrong, you have to think and believe like they do or somehow you hate america or some equally stupid remark, enough with this religion thing, to each his own, thats what being a liberal is all about.
This is what they do. This is how they operate. They don't talk issues, they instill fear and encourage rabid behavior. They have a TV network devoted to it. As you know, it's called FOX.

They're Morally Bankrupt, just like John McChapter 7. This is their machine in action:

If anyone you know needs a reminder on how they operate and what they've done to the country, view it and pass it on. We need to end this Lunacy.
Note to Elizabeth Dole:

I find many "godless" citizens of great help and comfort to the homeless, the citizens of New Orleans, the vets returning from war, and a host of other charities.
whoa...

Already voted for Hagan. Don't really care if she prays only that she govern well. I pray for her, as I do for all our leaders -- even Palin, who the Lord knows I can't stand. Dole has been here (NC) all of 13 days this year. And spends most of her time with her hubby -- Mr. Viagra.
Typical Repug tactic:  Paint the opposition as being anti-God.  But let's look at what the "godly" Republican in the Oval Office has brought us:

- An unnecessary war in which over 4,000 of our soldiers have died.
- Inviting insurgents to shoot at our troops ("Bring 'em on!").
- Lying to the public and Congress to drum up support for that war.
- Torture.
- Extraordinary rendition.
- Laughing at the poor while New Orleans drowned.
- Firing anybody who doesn't agree with his ideas.

Oh yeah...real Bible-thumper, that one!  Gimme a break...
I don't know how bad or how much the republicians are going to loose or loose by.  But the one thing I do know is this tough election cycle has proven that their canidates are completely classless.

As far concerned, if you can't win with dignity and grace you should be able to loose with dignity and grace.  Elizabeth Dole and whole Dole clan have had their hands in controlling America for a long time.  It's probably time to move on.
"I like religion as a scare tactic, because so many fools fall for it." - John Mccain.
pls can someone tell me which church Gov.Palin get married at?'cause the notion that she was leggaly married seems phony to me
Do you believe in Gravity? You might see it but, you know its there. Do you see a painting? you Know that there was a painter, or a building you know that there was a builder.

No god? Well, lets see if you are right when you die and have to tell him that too his face.
That's what the rethuglicans do.

They throw God in the mist of their drama and acts as if they are god themselves.

The rethuglicans act as if they are the only one's who are pro America and who has a main line to God.

It's tiresome and it is my prayer they lose every seat!
It's sick that Dole's campaign thinks this kind of approach is in any way acceptable. She and her campaign need a civics lesson. I hope Dole is trounced.
America does not need God.  America needs Math and Science.

If you want to live in a theocracy, go to Saudi Arabia.
Apparently Elizabeth Dole is trying to say that unless you believe as she does, then you are not American.  We are a diverse nation with all kinds of beliefs, all kinds of ethnicities, and good or bad every American is going to be under the leadership of the POTUS.  After serving so many years if Elizabeth can't win this election on her own merits, then the race is over and she has lost.
Gov Palin said she bought $35 dollar wedding ring what year was that? and what year did she get married, and at what churh?or she was just making babies out of wedlock?
I speak for ALL Republicans when I say that my once-beloved party has sunk to epic lows this election.  ALL true Republicans are ashamed of McCain and Palin.

And I'll go one step further.  They hate America.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Constitution garantee freedom of religion? Wouldn't that include freedom from religion?
Maybe she promised them a pagan orgy.  Who cares?  Seriously, "if we aren't with you than we must be against you!"

I am so over this political invective.  We are Americans!  AND, the whole "In God We Trust" and "Pledge of Allegiance" were added in the 20th century - not FOUNDING principles, by a long shot.

Americans, as backwards as you think we are.
I am a proud, Godless American, and I find the fact that labeling someone with my particular beliefs (namely those backed up by facts and common sense) is a political attack to be disappointing at best, insulting at worst.  What's more, if we do have a seperation of church and state (as in the Constitution), then would not a secular view carry the fewest conflicts of interest for a public official?
If you're not republican you're not a real American.
If you're not republican you're not God fearing.
If you're not republican you don't love America.

Republicans are so stupid just go away!!!

When will they ever run a contest on issues instead of trying to unamericanize their opponents.
I would honestly be proud to be called Godless.  A smart politician wouldn't let any god enter their policies.
"Freedom of religion" means that you have the freedom to believe in and follow whatever religion you want to, AND ALSO that organized religion, mainstream or not. Most of us believe in some kind of god, or that some kind of god may possibly exist (for the agnostics), but we may not all define "god" the same as the "mainstream" folks do. That doesn't make ANY OF US inherently right or wrong -- just different. And isn't it wonderful to live in a country that tolerates all that diversity?!

IMHO, to attack someone because their religious beliefs may not be the same as yours has no place in politics, and I would not have expected if of Mrs. Dole.
The Doles used to spend as much time in KS as they have in NC-- no big surprise that the number of days is so low.  And I don't think anyone will really miss them when they leave; I know I haven't.
Follow-up to this is I just heard on local news that Hagan is appearing with her pastor to show she is a woman of god (paraphrasing, of course).

So it's come down to the fact for Republican's that if you meet with someone you automatically beleive what they do.

Pitiful
I hope this backfires on Dole. I'm a practicing Catholic, send my kids to Catholic schools, despite high quality local public schools, but this ad is beyond the pale. Are we going to have a Church (or other house of worship)attendance test for office holders? Does Dole really believe it's wrong to associate with "non-believers"? Up until her pre-2006 election appearance on Meet the Press I respected Liddy Dole. I didn't agree with most of her politics, but I respected and admired her. Her over the top performance eliminated all positive feelings I had about her. I now pity poor Bob for his choice in his second spouse!
Gosh, Liz, you are resorting to the sleezy republican tactics?? What a surprise.
You know, some of these so called Christians do
not have as much religion as I have in my little
finger.
I thought lying was a sin.
Whatever happened to "do unto others"?
Whatever happened to honor and integrity?
Whatever happened to morals?
Guess they only matter when it suits the purpose.
This is the lowest a political campaign can go.  Sen. Dole, you have utterly dishonored yourself and your supporters.

I seem to remember that one of the Ten Commandments (which many republicans talk about, but very few seem to have read) includes the commandment "Thou shalt not bear false witness."

This is utterly indefensible, and will hurt republican candidates throughout the country.
What can one say ?    Simply   SHAME !  How do these people manage to look at themselves in the mirror in the morning  ?
What Republicans when they see the election results on November 5th: "there is no God!"
Once again, Republicans resort to fear, intimidation and slanderous tactics.

I hope that Ms. Hagan seeks legal counsel not only on the cease and decist order, but grounds for slander and libel as well.

And I hope come November 5, Ms. Dole isn't left scratching her head as to why she wasn't re-elected.
Shame on you Elizabeth Dole...Shame on you...You have cemented your defeat next Tuesday.
as a Christian, I think i'd rather have a competent atheist than a dumb Christian.  Being a Christian still means you have to be qualified.  As Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:15- "study to show thyself approved, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  And Jesus:  "Render unto Caesar (government) what is Caesar's & render unto the Lord what is the Lord's."  Dumb simple minded Christians are the reason we have such a bad rep.  I don't think it's smart to take money from this PAC from a PR perspective, but I know that there's issues (not God obviously) that people in this PAC might agree with Ms. Hagan on.  So it'd make sense for them to want to contribute to her (though maybe not so smart to take the money.)  But it doesn't bother me.  I voted the first day of early voting for her (& Obama) and this revelation wouldn't have changed my vote.  Ms. Hagan is a member of a Presbyterian Church & a Sunday School teacher, by the way.  As someone pointed our earlier, a lot of unChristian stuff has gone on our current prez's watch (who I don't hate- I just find him to be woefully inadequate in retrospect, and i voted for him in 2000).

Now, I vehemently disagree w/ BO on abortion, and I hope this Freedom of Choice act doesn't pass the Congress 'cause there's no way I, and most Americans I'm sure, can condone a girl under the age of 18 getting an abortion w/o parental notification. (I have a 3 yr old daughter, btw).  While I hope he can be persuaded to focus the "choice" strategy more on day-after pills than 50-days-of-life abortions, I'm not a one issue voter.
godLess America? where do I enlist! just think. things decided on reality. instead of "Harry Potter"
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances

Just as I do not entirely agree with the NRA's point of view I respect that they have a right and a basis for their position.  CLearly, there will be some in teh Godless American PAC with whom I may not agree but I understand that their position has nothing to do with their patriotism or character and I respect their rights as Americans.

Why is it so difficult for those in Dole's camp to understand that this group forms a constituency that deserves to be heard?
John McCain SPREADS AMERICA'S WEALTH TO FLDS polygamists in Colorado City, Arizona who practice tyranny over women and children and receive 25-30 million a year in taxpayer dollars.

Attention Republicans--it isn't working this year.  But keep doing it anyway.
This amplifies why the Republicans fell so hard.  Maybe 30% of the Country (Evangelicals) want to have a public religion, but the average person whats the Government to stay out of the Religion business.  After all, it works so well in the Middle East.
Once again ...my checkbook is out, and a donation to Ms. Hagan will be in the mail today. I'm sick and tired of watching these republican thugs smear anyone and everyone...just to win.
Libby's church must be in another state because in all of 2007 and 2008 she has only spent 33 days in North Carolina...
We all know that Democrats will bring about the End of Days.
Low life RNC tactics.  Shame.  Shame.  Shame.

Enough!  It's time for a change.  Vote Democratic and stop this.
This ad makes me think of the times I have been told "if you're a Christian" meaning that I wasn't a Christian if I didn't believe as they did or go to the church they belonged to. I have also learned that when someone tells me what a "good" Christian they are, you might want to watch out. This campaign waged by McCain seems to be the same thing. It seems to be bringing out the worst in people who are supposed to be Christians. I don't think things that are being said about Obama are very Christian-like. Other religions are just as moral as is Christianity. Even athiests seem to be more moral than so many who proclaim themselves Christians but are very intolerant of those who are different.
This is exactly the type of nonsense that has driven me steadily toward the Democratic party.  I'm still registered as "decline-to-state", but I'm mostly centrist and increasingly rabidly anti-Republican.  I'm more libertarian than most Democrats are, but the Libertarians don't believe in government at all, so they are flawed at the core.

I'm sick, sick, sick of these small minds who want to force their religious viewpoints on everyone else. Drive them all OUT OF OFFICE!
She must get her nastiness from her husband. I still recall Bob Dole, when asked if he believed the swift boat attack ads, remarking that there must be something to them because they wouldn't be making them if they didn't have some truth to them. What a jerk!
O'Reilly, the best in the cable business. #1.

Knows his stuff and is fair and balanced unlike the libs who are unfair and unbalanced to the point where thay have their little Acorn machine doing major cheating on the voter circuit.
That was over the top! I'm a practicing christian, but if I saw that add on my TV I'd RUN to the polling station and vote against Dole. Unbelievable.
There WAS a Jesus !!
I saw him on a tortilla !!

He wants us to LOWER TAXES on the RICH

He also wants us to shrink a camel and produce a needle with a HUGE EYE !!
Low life RNC tactics.  Shame.  Shame.  Shame.

Enough!  It's time for a change.  Vote Democratic and stop this.
