Coleman up six over Franken

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
As some pundits predict thunderclouds gathering on the horizon for incumbent Senate Republicans, a new NBC poll shows that Sen. Norm Coleman may be positioned to ride out the storm.

The results from the poll of likely voters, conducted by Mason-Dixon October 27-28, have Coleman leading opponent Al Franken by six points, 42-36, with 12% of respondents favoring Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley.   One in ten Minnesotans are undecided.

Video: In a year when “Saturday Night Live” is making big waves by lampooning politicians, a famous alumnus, Al Franken, is hoping to become one. NBC’s John Yang reports.

If Coleman puts daylight between Franken’s numbers and his own on Election Day, he may have Barkley to thank.  While he has shored up 89% of voters who identify as Republicans, with  only 4% defecting to Barkley’s camp, only about three out of four Democrats say that they support their party nominee, with 17% of Democratic voters favoring the Independence Party candidate over Franken.

Franken’s bombastic and sometimes offensive outbursts during his days as a comedian, highlighted by ads run by his Republican opponents, appear to have taken a toll.  He has a net negative approval rating among respondents, with almost half saying that they have an unfavorable impression of the former entertainer.

Coleman, who has pushed to cast himself as a forward-looking and optimistic candidate, is beating his opponent by double digits among voters 35-64 and by 15 points among men.

The poll, which has a margin of error of +/- 4%, also showed Barack Obama leading McCain in Minnesota 48% to 40%.

Mark and co:

At this morning Palin rally in Cape Girardeau, MO, Kenny Hulshof, the Republican candidate for governor, inferred that Obama would remove 'One nation under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance. Pretty gross hate-mongering. Here's the quote from the Southeast Missourian:

"Hulshof, the Republican candidate for governor, was the first to take the stage, whipping the crowd's enthusiasm up before introducing Jackson. After Jackson spoke about U.S. Sen. John McCain's character, the colors were presented and the Pledge of Allegiance recited. Hulshof said after the pledge, 'We don't have to worry about the words 'under God' being taken out of the pledge with this group, do we?"

I think this begs reporting - it's more crazy politics of fear with absolutely no basis.
Ah, the third-party candidate.  Ask George H.W. Bush -- they can be ruinous.

Do the voters really understand THE "CHANGE" OBAMA WILL BRING?

1.)  THE ECONOMY WILL GET WORSE --- Additional Taxes & Regulations Will Hurt Businesses' Ability To Create Jobs.

2.)  WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THE CLINTON YEARS --- Bill Clinton Was a "Moderate”  Democrat ---- OBAMA IS AN EXTREMIST.

3.)  "WELFARE POPULATION" WILL GREATLY INCREASE --- PEOPLE RECEIVING GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS OF ALL KINDS.  .THIS IS OBAMA'S IDEA OF "SPREADING THE WEALTH."

4.)  DEMOCRATS Will Have An Overwhelming Majority Control Which Will Allow Them To PASS ANY LAWS & TAXES THEY WISH --- THERE WILL BE NO "BALANCE OF POWER" IN OUR GOVERNMENT.

*... IF AMERICA ELECTS OBAMA ---- IT WILL GET WHAT IT DESERVES --- a $3 BILL  …*
.
It's starting to actually resonate with the media (CNN, ABC) that Obama's ACORN may actually be trying to rig this election. That's something Fox News and many other thinking Americans already knew. At least some high stakes media outlets are letting the truth be known, for a change.

And I heard ABC didn't show Obama's speech. I heard that on TV this morning. There must be a reason behind it. That's a lot of bucks to give up.
It is like people have been saying for a long time. This election is far from over, and getting out to vote is crucial. This election will help decide, which path our nation will be taking in the future. Hopefully, it is a path of economic success, common sense foreign policy, good judgements by law makers, stopping unethical behaviors by politicians, and socially uniting our nation. Now this is no joke!
If McInsane & Klondike Sarah steal this election, they will be lame ducks anyways. Congress will be controlled by the Dems and we will have 4 more years of gridlock. Seen that story too many times. Thats why we need to GOTV and elect BO & Joe to the White House! Don't let the rethugs steal this election. God Bless !!
The gross domestic product declined in the third quarter.

America needs McCain like a leaking boat needs a tsunami.

Trusting McCain with the economy would be like going hunting with Dick Chaney.

America needs Obama.
Ah Mr. the change Obama would bring. Everything you listed is whats going on now. Were you aware of this?
No election's over 'til it's over:  Minnesota, after all, is the land of former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura...
Dear paranoid gggg: I think you have been watching FOX and listening to Limbaugh for too long.  And yes there was a reason why Barack's infomercial was not shown on ABC. They offered him the spot too late. Barack's camp turned them down because they had already used the funds to pay for the ABC spot elsewhere.  Sorry to burst your bubble but it was nothing sinister about it.

And please read the facts about ACORN. ACORN is responsible for registering voters, they have nothing to do with actual voting. It's the REPUBLICANS that re trying to suppress voters. It's REPUBLICANS that are purging names from the registration lists.

So please.............stop whining.
"It's starting to actually resonate with the media (CNN, ABC) that Obama's ACORN may actually be trying to rig this election."

---------------------------------------------

You're an imbecile.  Even as a dyed-in-the-wool Republican, I know ACORN is not guilty of voter fraud.  And plus, our guys rigged 2000 and 2004.  Why don't you acknowledge that for once?  Or is that different because our guys won?  Idiot.
Obama is only an extremist according to McCain campaign description.

How can the economy get any worse?  Obama will help, not hurt it.

Obama told Joe that the wealth should be spread TO him and his clients.  Wealth is now limited to people like John Paulson who paid 15% taxes on income of $3.7 billion.  The 40% rate favored by Obama would leave him with ONLY $2.22 billion take home.  He invested nothing to make this much money.
The only way McCain/Palin will win this election is to steal it.  The bigotry, racism, and lack of any plan
will not be sufficient to overturn the will of the people.  If the people vote for the idea of change there is no way that old age and a wink will prevail.
VOTE and exercise your rights
I would not mind seeing Barkley take the senate seat as a third party. We need to get away from the 2-party system that is choking us.
ahhh, this poll has more to do with likely voter problems. National polls never account for Minnesota's high voter turnout and tend to shun less committed voters (we have European levels of turnout). Every local pollster as Barkley at 18-19% and drawing evenly from both sides
What is really sad is that Norm Colemen is snake belly low.The adds he used showing Franken raising his hands and flailing like he was making a speech and was angry was a complete use of false recording.Al told a story about Paul Wellstone and his son who ran cross-country in high school .Paul use to run the coarse on the side behind the ropes and cheered his son on.Towards the end of the race Pauls son would be struggling to finish and there would be his dad cheering him to the finish, and he would yell and scream and wave his hands and cheer his son to "Go son keep trying, never give up your catching him.The low life Coleman used this tape of Al tell this story at a rally that Paul Wellstones son was in attendance. And Al is a fire up story teller ,he holds nothing back and on tape he looked like he was angry, and low life used this tape trying to show Al is a angry man and is not suitable for office.Norm is a Bushie thru and thru, and a disgraceful one at that.
Looks like AL has Norm just where he wants him.
There is justice in the world. Just think Democrats, you could have had your 60 seat majority in the Senate. Instead you ran an idiot like Franken.
