Biden returns to Blue Hen roots

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli

NEWARK, Del. -- Biden returned to his home state to kick off the stretch run to Election Day, telling fellow Blue Hens on the campus of the University of Delaware that Obama “will be the president this moment demands.”

Biden, who also faces re-election here, compared his message today as vice presidential nominee to the one he brought to his alm mater during his first campaign in 1972, when he said that the problem facing the nation “has not been the failure of the people to meet the challenges before them, but rather it’s been a failure of both the political parties to place the challenges honestly and squarely before the American people.”

“I come today with greater confidence and passion about the ability of this country to change and make things better,” he said. “I believe this country is ready to make the sacrifices necessary and to embrace the change we need to restore the hope of our people, and once again, once again become the beacon of light for the entire world. That’s our responsibility, that’s our possibilities, that’s what we must do.”

The speech was full of memories from Biden’s time as a student, when he said some of the nation’s most transformative events in American history occurred, leading up to his graduation in 1965. He also noted the curiosity that top officials from both campaigns, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe and McCain chief Steve Schmidt, attended the school. Neither graduated.

He also urged students to imagine a country with Obama as president, and compare it to what a President McCain might offer.

“I am certain, Barack Obama will … unite this country, because he’ll appeal to America’s better angels,” he said. “I believe that John McCain, through the conduct of his campaign, unfortunately continues to think that he way you win is to divide. … Ladies and gentlemen, Barack will remind we are one nation, under God, we are indivisible.  Our best days are ahead of us, not behind us.”

The electoral result in Delaware is hardly in doubt, but today’s rally was meant to serve several purposes for the campaign. Biden urged students to volunteer to “help influence our neighbors to the north in Pennsylvania.” It was also meant to draw additional coverage in the Philadelphia media market, though with a Phillies victory parade occurring, it may not get as much attention.

“Special thanks to all those of you who chose to be here instead of going to the Phillies victory parade,” Biden said. Then pointing to his wife, a “rabid” fan, he said, “I’m particularly thankful to my wife, Jill, for choosing to be here.”

Philadelphia ----- let's have  BIG TURNOUT for Senator's Obama and Biden.

GET TO THE POLLS !!!   NO EXCUSES!!    We need every one of you to vote.   Ask for help, if necessary, but get there.

OBAMA/BIDEN '08
Speaking of hens...where is the screeching one from wasila?
Liberalism - The root of all evil!
If the country ever wants to make some money, we could always sell Delaware back to the Dutch. Not sure what we'd do with the $27 though.
Is is true that Delaware's main income is from manure spreading? That sure would explain why they kept reelecting Biden.
Joe Biden admitted the Obama campaign is finally "cash strapped." They spent a fortune on the prime time informercial. They had the largest influx of foreign donations in the history of the country — much of which may prove to have been from illegal donations. Biden is being limited to very low profile appearances to lessen the chance of “slip-ups” that send Team Obama in a tailspin trying to explain what he really meant. Biden is no longer taking questions to shore up the past mistakes he has made. If Obama wins, it will be interesting to see what they do with Biden who has proven a liability risk during the campaign.
Senator Joe Biden, by running with a man he knows is eminently unqualified to lead this nation, has, in my opinion, committed an act of self-serving opportunism unlike any before seen in the history of this nation.

We are fighting two wars abroad, and must remain vigilant against attacks here at home.  Biden understands, nay, says, that Obama is unequipped to deal with these issues-yet, he runs with him.

Senator Biden IS  a supporter of Israel-he is in a unique position to know just exactly how anti-Semitic his running mate is-yet, he supports him.

Senator Biden knows that Obama was as clueless about how to deal with the market meltdown as he was about Russia's invasion of Georgia-it took Bill Clinton to reveal that little nugget-yet, Senator Biden remains on the campaign trail, pushing his presidency.

I have always known that politicians are not like the rest of us, but this naked opportunism is beyond the pale.

Senator Biden should be ashamed of himself.
Blue Hen State? That explains why Biden is a big chickensh**.
Jo-Jo Biden: " “I believe this country is ready to make the sacrifices necessary and to embrace the change we need to restore the hope of our people"

Translated - Huge tax raises on everyone! We'll all have a lot of Hope as we watch our money being sucked into Washington.
I'm so proud of our Dem Ticket this year.  I already voted.  If you haven't voted yet, please do.  This is a great chance to get the good ol' USA back to being the good ol' USA!!!

OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!!!!
For all of you who waste your time trash talking Obama and Biden... Do you have any real heartfelt good things to say about McCain and Biden?
Barack Obama's willingness to meet with the world's most vile and dangerous dictators and

despots without preconditions shows the ignorance and naivitae Obama has when confronting

America's enemies.  It is appalling.  The American people should realize that when it comes to

foreign affairs and national security that Barack Obama is a joke.

IF OBAMA GETS ELECTED --- THE JOKE WILL BE ON THE USA.

======================================================
Everyone of voting age must exercise that privilege on Nov. 4.

America is in desperate need of change and I for one
believe if we join together and work for change it will come to pass. But in order to do so, you need a leader who offers change. McCain's platform is nothing new and something new is what must come to pass.

While I wasn't an Obama supporter at the start of the race, I am now. I've watched his debates; done research on my own regarding the issues and formulated my opinion: there's nothing McCain has in his bag of tricks that will rreturn the US to a stable economic status and there is no way I can support having Palin anywhere near the Oval Office!

Vote for Obama people...He's our only hope.
The total posts says nine, but there are only too. Oh well, close enough I guess.

Go Barack and Joe!!
Go Blue Hens!!!! (UD class of 93)
I share Biden's two Alma Maters, and am very proud of it:
U of Delaware undergrad and
Syracuse U for grad school (PhD 2003)
Yeeee Ha.... wish I'd been there.  Already voted though.

VOTE!  VOTE! This election is so important.
I have more money in my wallet since gas prices have dropped so drastically. $1.80 a gallon in Indiana. That's big for me and my family. What will Obama's sticking it to the corporations do to gas prices and our jobs?
What a difference between the two VP candidates. Here you have "Joe the Biden" (as penned by the old geezer on Larry King) talking about the future of America, asking the young people to help get out the vote, and just giving a positive message. On the other hand, you have Palin spewing vile untruths about Senator Obama. She never mentions how McFossil will help the American people, she just tries to destroy her opponent with lies.

I cast my vote for Senator Barak Obama because he is the candidate that is running for us. He's the candidate that wants a better future for us.

Think about it. Obama's campaign is all about us, McPOW's campaign is all about him.
'...Senator Joe Biden, by running with a man he knows is eminently unqualified to lead this nation...'

Jojo, you must have VERY HIGH STANDARDS after 8 years of Bush/Cheney

Were THEY QUALIFIED to lead this nation ?
the torture, the lies about WMDs, the illegal war

You're pathetic with your smears

GROW UP, HONEY

John McCain, old and in the way

Who's been in screwed up Washington longer than Sen Joe Biden? What up Joe? Why only now you wanting to help the people. Step aside and let some real leadership take over. Good pick Barack.
Am so excited but yet concerned.
EVERYONE must get out and vote for Barack Obama
and Joe Biden. The possibility of anything else
is unbearable.
Do not trust what the republicans will try to pull
next. With the sleeziest, dirtiest campaign in
history it proves they will stoop to any level
to try and win. We cannot let them get away with
it this time.
It looks like the McCain sock puppets are out in force

I guess you're all pretty desperate

Get ready to LOSE THE ELECTION !!

Bye, Bye Simple Sarah
Joe, Joe, I love you; but when you remind us of history; if you must be suggestive, how's 'bout comparing GPA’s?

Vote EARLY for self and country
Vote Obama/Biden; I did.
Obviously many believe Obama/Biden are the Boogymen.  Do they still believe in Santa or the Tooth Fairy too?....the Obama/Biden tax calculator is truthful and accurate. I've checked the math. Most of us will be much better off. The rich guys will just pay their fair share of taxes.

VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN NOW IF YOU CAN or on 4 NOV!!! My wife and I already have.

A RABID REPUBLICAN, VIETNAM-ERA VET, FAT, OLD, PREJUDICED WHITE GUY NOW FOR OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!!
you go joe biden! you are great!
How can anyone believe that the "Geezer" and his "Dingbat" could unite this country with the divisive campaign they've run. "Real" America? What is that? Either we're all Americans or none of us is. It's definitely time for a change - a REAL change. Time for some fresh air in Washington. BTW, the Dutch are quite happy with how Delaware has turned out, thank you very much!
Joe Biden will make a fine Vice President and Barack Obama will make a fine President.  Compared to the last 8 years they will be a refreshing breath of fresh air considering the stench they will follow.

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
Speaking of schools, did Biden mention in his speech his propensity thru the years to lie about his grades and his problems with plagiarism.  When he said that Obama “will be the president this moment demands”, did he also happen to mention that in the primaries he told us Obama "is not ready to lead" and that "the presidency doesn't lend itself to on the job training"?????  Is there anything else Joe should tell us now that contradicts his prior history?
When and where did Biden say they were "cash strapped"? I better send more money....
to no Jo no Bo
I have one reposne to you..Sarah Paulin..
Look at all the hate and vile spewing in here. Why are you like this? I weep and I pray for your souls, I truly do.
Charlie Rose and Tom Brokaw both said on TV that "There's a lot we don't really know about Barack Obama." How could this be? Look out boys, you know the deal. Retribution is soon to be coming your way. Buckle up for the exam.
If the country ever wants to make some money, we could always sell Delaware back to the Dutch. Not sure what we'd do with the $27 though.

WOW.  MSierra, you're my new hero, and I mean that with all due sincerity.  You owned that guy.

Bartender, a couple of beers for me and my new friend over here!
Tell us, Joe (Sent Friday, October 31, 2008 1:10 PM)

Shhhhhhhh. Hush now. You are about to become irrelevant.
Lead, follow or get out of the way and try to avoid whining.
Speaking of things that contradict prior history, do you call the past 8 years of near total Republican control in anyway conservative?
The fact is the GOP has achieved total intellectual bankruptcy. It brought Bush to the dance and now it needs to take him home. It doesn't need to hurry back. It won't be needed.
'...Barack Obama's willingness to meet with the world's most vile and dangerous dictators and
despots without precondition...'

Hasn't McCain met with Bush and Cheney ??

Those are two VILE TORTURERS and WAR CRIMINALS

Hugo Chavez SI, George Bush NO !!

Fidel SI, McCain NO !!
Where did this walking trainwreck come from. He was hiding in the woodwork until... Oh yeah, that's right, We can thank Barack for providing the entertainment. Thanks but no thanks.
"I have terrible anger management issues.  Sometimes I just lose it.  You can ask Cindy about it.  If anybody knows what I'm capable of when I'm angry, it's her." - John McCain
Where do you all think your money goes now?  It went to the bail out, it went to nationalizing our banks, and to JOhn McCain's campaign!

Look up the word advisor, yes Obama sought wisdom from others, that's what a leader does, he doesn't suspend his campaign or wait for a plan from Russia to fly over Alaska and drop instructions.

Now McCain calls Obama a socialist for doing what he thought was right a few years ago:

“There’s one big difference between me and the others–I won’t take every last dime of the surplus and spend it on tax cuts that mostly benefit the wealthy.” [McCain campaign commercial, January 2000]

“I am disappointed that the Senate Finance Committee preferred instead to cut the top tax rate of 39.6% to 36%, thereby granting generous tax relief to the wealthiest individuals of our country at the expense of lower- and middle-income American taxpayers.” [McCain Senate floor statement, May 21, 2001]

“But when you look at the percentage of the tax cuts that–as the previous tax cuts–that go to the wealthiest Americans, you will find that the bulk of it, again, goes to wealthiest Americans.” [NBC’s “Today,” Jan. 7, 2003]

I see there are a lot of pessimistic mcshame/palling fans out there. don't hate, masterbate with a picture of the runner up from wasilla. both are unqualified and unscrupulous supporters of the conservative reich. The devisive nature of your conservatism is unwanted in our USA. Take that back to Europe where it came from and flush it. 4 more years under a mccain/mcbush policies and you too will feel the wrath my friend so wake up and smell the coffee.
"Senator Joe Biden, by running with a man he knows is eminently unqualified to lead this nation, has, in my opinion, committed an act of self-serving opportunism unlike any before seen in the history of this nation."

Are you sure you're not talking about McCain and Palin? Sounds like it to me...
Jo-Jo Biden: " “I believe this country is ready to make the sacrifices necessary and to embrace the change we need to restore the hope of our people"

Congratulations on your wealth....because by your comment you obviously make more than $250,000 a year.
We thank you for supporting america with your tax dollars and the sacrifice that this year you will not buy that 3rd lakehouse that you spend your weekends at.

We the consumer will thank you by buying your goods and services, keeping you in business for years to come.  So you can buy many lakehouses down the road.
Honestly, I fear Joe Biden more than anyone else in this election...even more than Obama. Each day he says something more random and contradictory...scary when he gets into office.
Most of us will be much better off. The rich guys will just pay their fair share of taxes

--------------------------------
The "rich guys" pay 3/4 of the taxes now (even with bush's tax cuts)

And the fact that when you tax the oil companies more....what is the first thing they are going to do to recoup that lost income...raise the price of the pump, so when you get $10/month in so called tax cuts from Obama's false promise then have to pay $20/week extra in $4/gallon gas (even with oil prices at $60/barrel) tell me how I am better off please...I'm really good at math and manipulating numbers and I can't even make this one work...
The Mccain sock puppets. That is funny. The social security checks were deposited so now they can use the computator again in the old folks home.
Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Oct. 28-30 shows Obama with an eight percentage point lead over John McCain among traditional likely voters -- 51% to 43% -- his largest margin to date.

I know, polls are like a..holes, everyone's got one, but I think that one from Fox has something brown coming out of it.
What a country! Joe Biden will be great Vice President and President Obama will be the greatest prosident to change the world!
Let's humiliate McCain Palin-bots by voting in record numbers. Our time for change has come. Republicans can win campaigns. But, obviously, they can't govern.

Smack down the GOP by voting!

Gimmicks First - McCain
McCain/Palin believe in the American people and their abilities to succeed. Faith, hope, confidence, positive future, freedom, an opportunity to be who you can be. They do not attack anyone who disagrees with their positions, unlike many have and still are experiencing. It will all be over but the blame in a few days.
I love how people just know that the sky will fall if Obama/Biden are voted into the White House.  Do you all have some magic crystal ball?  I'm fairly certain I know what a McCain/Palin presidency would be, like it is right now.
