Does it get any nastier than North Carolina politics? The day after Liddy Dole was up with Godless part 1, she's up with a second that the campaign says "is just a response ad to Hagan's response ad."

Libby should know better. Liberals go completely bonkers when ever you tell the truth about them.
Too bad for Mrs. Dole. She served both the Red Cross and the Senate honorably and the legacy she will leave is now just another dishonest, dirty, in the gutter political princess.

The way things are going, and with Obama's track record of not knowing what the heck is going on in his churches, I can see Obama taking "Separation of Church and State" to the extreme by just eliminating the churches. At least the white ones.
Lizzie Dole, you messed it up big time, just back up your toys and go home and take care of your erectile disfunctional husband.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.  Liddy Dole was one of the few Republicans I actually had a bit of respect for.  I think if McCain had chosen her instead of Silly Sarah as his running mate, he'd be winning now.  It actually saddens me to see her go down the same path of fear and smear and divisive politics as the rest of her party.  I always thought she was better than that.  :-(

Obama/Biden '08!

I have just one word for Elizabeth Dole and the rest of the right-wing neo-cons:  Dirtbags.
I just don't understand the Republican Strategists in this election cycle.  It is like they are TRYING to throw their chances.  This stuff has been polled and it isn't working.  JT Plumber, again, NOT working.  William Ayers - loser for Hillary AND McCain.

If I were McCain and Dole, on November 5th, I'd refuse to pay any of those outstanding debts for such ill-advise.  (Well, okay - I wouldn't do that, I always pay my debts; but metaphorically - you know what I mean!)
Little known fact: A cross has the same effect on a vampire that it does on a liberal.
Unbelievable.  Liddy Dole has no respect for herself -- or her campaign.

What a contrast between the doom and gloom, fear mongering tone of E. Dole's commercials and the clear, concise, and rational tone of her opponent's response. I don't know much about the two in this race, but judging by the commercials, it's no contest.
Say no to fear mongering and politics of division!
well for once i agree with him.  vote for mccain and there will be "no hope" for a stronger america.
I don't know what sickens me more...the fact that the Republicans use such despicable scare tactics in order to drum up the Christian vote, or the fact that Christians actually fall for this crap.
Republicans are the only one's with the main line to God; everyone else is God(less)!

Church and State...HELLOOOOO!

Dole is not in North Carolina enough to effectively conduct business, so she needs to go.

I agree with Hagan...Dole should stop bearing false witnesses...but then again we are talking about a Pro-American incumbent like Dole!

The Republicans have it all..God only talks to them and they are the only one's who love this country!

Oh gag me with a spoon!  With an ad like that Dole is a great example of what NOT to do as a christian; then again we are talking about a member of HYPOCRATIC REPUBLICAN PARTY!
Obama has run a fairly clean campaign. All of the negative and dirty politics have been nicely taken care of for him by Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, George Stephanopoulos, Wolfe Blitzer. Good leftists and socialists all.
"If you're comparing our faiths, then you'd have to give [Barack Obama] the edge over me." - John McCain
yes I would go. because we are all americans, regardless of their religion, chritian, islamic, or atheist.
I'm going with HOPE
Liddy Dole, turn out the lights:
^^^^^^^^
Mike, IN - gas prices.  The gas prices came down when the market crashed.  No one is trading on those futures right now because they are trying to solidify their 'blue chips'.  The record quarterly profit of Exxon Mobil should give you some idea of what the democrats are talking about.  Those profits are overstated because the actual cost of oil was never anywhere close to the 'trading' price.  Speculators got rich again.  And the middle class got screwed.  This is a PERFECT metaphor for Republican governance and how the middle class pays the price.
Is Elizabeth Dole implying here that "Godless Americans" have no place in the nation, do not deserve to be represented in government and are a political liability to a US Senate candidate? If so, this is the most troubling ad I have heard yet. Barack Obama believes that every American is a patriot, no matter what their religious belief or ideology. Elizabeth Dole is representing the worst in our society: bigotry, intolerence and character assasination. Oh, and yes, I am an Independent and I WOULD go to the event!!!
i am absolutely disgusted that people are missing the real issue with this.  discrimination against people who do not believe in god.  he respect the fact that you want to believe in something that makes no sense to us, so we shouldn't be belittled in return.
wasn't this country founded on the basis of freedom of religion? didn't settlers come here to have freedom of religion or not? why are we now saying atheist don't have a place here? Oh yeah, its the intolerant republicans who believe everyone has to believe the same as them. Liddy, go quietly away like Bob, you don't even reside in NC anymore, how bogus.
Liddy Dole, back in the day i though you would have been the first female president, your very smart, powerfull, forcefull and i must say i real hottie, but time has passed, i saw the first ad and it was the worst thing i have ever seen, i never would have though you would have come up with something like that!!! i first would think bob dole would have some input in your decision to run that, the bob dole i remember 20 years ago would have never sunk to that low. please retire with grace as you are a woman with grace and dignety.
end you campaign and go home and take care of bob, and let american remember you as you were, a great woman with grace!!!!!
Anyone who uses "God" to get elected . . . doesn't deserve to be elected.
I don't live in that state but it sure is ugliness in politics..... Could Dole really not known about that ad???? Please she deserves to lose if she did and allowed it to move forward. I thought she was a classy lady but obviously she is in the sewer of politcis.....Shame on her!
Sorry... but I still can't figure on how religion should be incorporated in the politics governing a diverse electorate.
I am an Atheist, a worker, a son, a photographer, a tax payer, a lover of America, and I am a good person. I think it's crazy that in this day and age it is still ok to openly discriminate based on religious affiliation...or lack there of. whether or not she is religious should not affect her judgment. It's sad but she would be attacked less for believing that that God is a squid that lives on the moon than not believing in anything at all.
There is a seperation of church and state, doesn't anyone remember that?  Religion should NOT play a part in any of these elections.  These ads are disgusting.
When will the American people finally see that when elections are won through the politics of fear, smear and lies, as so many have been in the last eight years, we do not get the best candidate. While there have been some on the periphery of the democratic party who have stooped to this level, I am so proud to see that Barack Obama has not. There are many cases he could make against John McCain and Sarah Palin on the same sordid level that the GOP has, but he chose the high road. Maybe, just maybe, this time the high road will win and folks will see that it really is the best way to win. Shame on Elizabeth Dole for taking the lowest of low roads.
Dole doesn't have an ounce of class in her.  Like McCain, she is not only losing an election, but her dignity.
What a dumb ad. Liddy Dole's done.
Please God take Elizabeth Dole from our State and never let her return. We need someone who lives in NC and will support our state.

Southern White male already voted for the Obama.
OMG this is why I'm an atheist! Why is it that the people who claim to be the most righteous and holy always end up being the meanest, nastiest people of all?
What ever happened to separation of chuch and state? How can this be the basis of a political campaign? The republicans, in an obvious attempt to whip the religious right in to a frothy loathesome lather this year, are coming off as the most absurd group.  There are a whole lot more moderates willing to support a candidate with questionable faith (not that I ? Hagan's) than the blatantly hateful churchgoers they have become.  WWJD? He'd vote for the unifying party and it's not yours, Liz.
I wish politicians from both parties would stop condeming non-believers as something worse than foreign terrorists, socialists, radicals, or whatever derogatory term you please.  About 15% of the United States'population is secular. We do not have any representation in Washington.   And the vast majority of us could not care less what others believe so long as they do not impose their beliefs, values, rituals on the rest of us.

I have served four years in the US Navy.  I have graduated college.  And I also have been very productive in OUR society.  Quit flinging mud in my face because I refuse to believe in some old washed up ancient myths.
Not any nastier? You haven't followed Obama's tearing down of Joe the Plumber or Sarah Palin, have you?
If I was being elected to represent everyone....yes, I would.

Elected officials should represent the population, not just those with whom they have the same religious philosophy. Remember, this is a country where freedom of belief is ultimate.
A truly desparate act by Liddy Dole. She has gone too far and now cannot seem to take it back.

It is a shame to put the North Carolina electorate through this slime slinging!
Religious freedom is the basis on which this Nation was created. Stop the persecution of non-Christians. It does us no good. STOP allowing it to be an issue in any election.

Liddy Dole DESERVES TO LOSE !!

It'll be good to see the backside of her

Saxby Chamliss' head on a platterwould be SWEET
A cowardly ChickenHawk !!
How can people waste so much time and money on such drivel.......The concept of "God" is based on faith and not on a single fact, so unless you can get God to speak his mind on an ad, this argument is pointless.
Liddy Dole reaches lower depths on a daily basis. She brings back memories of Joe McCarthy,

Liddy doesnt' like being called Liddy. I can think of a lot of other names to call her
I am fighting mad. Dole has insulted the 10-20% of good Americans who have a reality-based world view. Her ad is pure undisguised religious bigotry and is violating the constitution by applying a religious test for public office. Just insert black for godless and see how it sounds.  If she wins I pledge to spend whatever it takes in time and money to get her removed from office.  GRRRRR
It certainly is interesting that the dirtiest campaign in 2008 is between two women! I thought women were to bring civility to our politics.
In any case, this is a hell of a way for the Doles to exit public life. Good-bye Liddy, good-bye Bob.
Poor Libby Dole...how low will you stoop? This discussion goes beyond sad.
McCain/Palin believe in the American people and their abilities to succeed. Faith, hope, confidence, positive future, freedom, an opportunity to be who you can be. They do not attack anyone who disagrees with their positions, unlike many have and still are experiencing. It will all be over but the blame in a few days.
Shame, shame, shame on Liz Dole, you are running for public office for the United States of America, do it with dignity.  I don't know how she can honestly sleep at night running this "GOD"awful slime.
The most Godless people I know are in my church on Sunday.  Talk about stunning-we need to take a serious look at the religious/government mix and if that's what the church's want-preaching politics from the pulpit, then they need to pay taxes.  I'm ready, I know I will get clobbered for this.
Sorry, Liddy, your response to Kay Hagan's response is as bad as your original ad that she responded to (how convoluted is that?). Just because you take contributions from people you may or may not agree with, doesn't mean you're gonna promote their agenda. Stop your fear mongering and GET REAL! You knew how people (especially "low information voters") would react to this ad. Shame on you!
Liddy Dole can kiss the posterior of this "Godless" (Yes, I'm an atheist -- BOO!) American.  Dole is a hateful, horrible, nasty, miserable woman.  But that is par for the course for the Republican Party lately.  Whatever happened to the good Republicans?  Since when are they just a bunch of haters?
Liddy Dole is scum.  Anyone who would do an ad like that is scum.  Pure and simple. I hope Hagan sues her penniless.
