McCain: Ahhhnold!

Posted: Saturday, November 01, 2008 9:49 AM by Carrie Dann

Per NBC/NJ’s Adam Aigner-Treworgy, McCain finished off his Ohio bus tour yesterday with a big-crowd (for him) rally in Columbus, OH with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is something of a hero due to his sponsorship of an annual body building event in the area called Arnold’s Classic. The two spoke at the 18,000-seat Nationwide Arena (a venue I’ve been told Bush and Schwarzenegger filled to capacity in 2004), but about a third of the hockey rink was cut off with a giant curtain and the entire section behind the stage was also empty.

McCain had two new lines, one that subtly hit Obama for saying that his faith in the American people was “vindicated” by his victory in the Iowa caucuses. And another line about Obama supposedly saying that it was “selfish to oppose higher taxes.

Arnold was the big hit, and he hit Obama hard for being a lightweight and for wanting to follow the lead of socialistic countries in Europe, many of whom have since learned their lessons, according to Schwarzenegger. “We are at a tough time right now. Ohio cannot afford, America cannot afford the economic proposals of Sen. Obama. I tell you something, I left Europe four decades ago because of socialism has killed opportunities there. And many, many, many entrepreneurs and business leaders all left and have taken jobs with them. And I tell you, in recent years Europe has realized its mistakes, began rolling back some of its spread the wealth policies. And I tell you something, I tell you something. I am so fortunate that I had the chance of coming to the greatest country in the world, the United States of America.”

Schwarzenegger also “mocked Democrat Barack Obama, saying 'he needs to do something about those skinny legs,' needs to buff up those 'scrawny little arms,' and put some meat on his ideas. McCain, on the other hand, 'is built like a rock.”

Well isn't that intelligent Arnold, go for the legs, when all else fails, GEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama/Biden 08/12
Arnold should listen to his wife.

Incidentally, where are Palin's medical records?
I thought the air smelled better yesterday as our Tinseltown Flake governor left the state to campaign for McNasty.  He's been nothing but a total disaster by screwing our state up economically.  We'll need to get another Democrat in the governor's mansion to undo all the damage that the aging D List actor has left.

McNasty is desperate hanging around some washed up celebrity like "Clueless" Arnold.  Too bad "Muscle Man" Arnold wasted so much time pumping up his body instead of his brain, he wouldn't have been such a disaster as governor!

Go Obama/Biden 08/12!
Schwarzeneggers mocking of Obamas "skinny legs" and " srawny little arms" remind me of the antisemitic smear tactis of the nazis. How absurd to equate physical features with political ideas. Did Lincoln, Washington or Kennedy have any resemblance to the muscular monster from California? There should be an outcry in the news media against this lowest kind of political discourse in the McCain campaign.
Arnie should have stuck to battling aliens, teaching kindergarten, and telling his comrades to "Get to the choppa!"  He left Europe to take advantage of the drug advances America offered to the aspiring bodybuilder.

Only in America can someone like him have such a platform to spew his "rational thoughts about topics." Hey Arnie, "GO!. . NOW!!!"
Barack Obama carries our candle. The darkness will try to put it out.
If Arnold was a big hit, then this campaign is in trouble.  Look Gov. Arnold has made California a mess, isn't he having to borrow money to get his state out of trouble?   Again, it was taking very cheap shots at Obama, not talking specific plans in fixing the economic crisis.

OBAMA HAS COME UP WITH SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS, THERE IS GRACE, INTEGRITY, DIGNITY ON HIS CAMPAIGN. WHAT I LIKE---HE HASN'T SOLD HIS SOUL-

I VOTED FOR OBAMA-VOTE FOR CHANGE, YOUR VOICE AND EMPOWERMENT-VOTE EARLY FOR OBAMA OR JUST VOTE FOR HIM-HE NEEDS EVERY SINGLE VOTE

I think Arnold needs to get back to California and try to resolve some of the MANY problems we have here.  I would rather have a President who has "skinny legs" and "scrawny arms" who is thoughtful, organized and calm than one who is "built like a rock" but shoots first and doesn't ask questions.
Brilliant, coming from a man who forced a sitting Governor to be "re-elected" prior to an official election. That sure sounds like free-market principles to me.
Since Arnold brought up Mcains POW time. Why didnt he
tell the whole truth about his name as the pw song bird
That's our Arnold ...all brawn and no brains.   ON EXPERIENCE.  We have heard NO ONE on TV admit that those republicans WITH  "experience"  Rumsfeld and Chaney ... screwed up this economy.  Brawn with no brains Bush cheered them on.   Anyone with the judgment, wisdom and knowledge that can run a campaign like Obama did .. deserves..... and imagine what a great President he will be!!
Excuse me, Sen. McCain, but when the economy was in the clinker, didn't you suspend your campaign to be in Washington?  So, even though most of us here in CA can't stand the Governator and what he's done to our own state's economy, don't you think it's more important that he be here in CA working with our state government to work this budget issue out instead of being in Ohio with you?

Just sayin'....

VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN
Ohh Arnold you have not ever balanced a budget. Every year you can't even get the budget passed on time. You fly to a from work to home by private jet. As Governor of CA you were a disappointment. Go back to acting please
Schwarzenegger stated at this rally that if Obama had given all the money he has spent to banks, it would have paid off all the bad mortgages.  He fails to realize that we the donors wanted Obama to get his positive message to the United States of America.  What about how much was spent on Palin's clothes and makeup and hair.  Pailin is supposed to be the average hockey mom representing the average american working woman.  I certainly for one cannot afford to spend $150K on clothes, I am the average working mom.  Oh and what about Cindy McCain's $300K outfit for the convention.  How many mortgages would that payoff in OH. Or maybe Joe the Plumber could have paid his back taxes, bought the business and go to school to get his plumber's license.

And we like Sen Obama just the way he looks, no need for a steriod filled body.  He is the average american that made his way to the top with hard work, inteligence and GOOD JUDGEMENT!!!
WOW! McCain brought out the celebrity to boost his campaign how hypocritical. If I was making millions a year I wouldn't want to pay taxes either. Arnold is scaid Obama will shut down his tax haven in the carribean. McCain talk a good game but he fail to mention the top corporations and rich folks have accountants who make sure they take advantage of tax loopholes, while ordinary folks are stuggling to pay the mortgage, food, clothing, transportation bills.

Ref: Obama's scrawny arms and skinny legs; I'll take that anyday over a man with an IQ of a rock.

Can't wait for this to end.......I'm suffering from campaign fatigue.  The news organizations are trying to keep the public in suspense to boost their ratings on Election night and that is sad, but the silver lining is there is 3 more days left to go.  Who ever wins is going to need our prayers and support because of the mess Bush administration will leave behind.

Obama will win. Americans know ----------- even the evangelicals know the Republican Party used conservatives and conservative values and issues to advance corporate greed $$$$$ means. The Republican Party is not about the United States and Americans, it is about the free market economy or get rich at any cost. The cost of republican GOP leadership greed is a poverty stricken United States and a shrinking American middle class unable to buy a house, send children to college, or go to the doctor. .Conservative Christians are just a victim of corporate greed. They have been used, and they know it.
Hey did you guys see that video on the insider with John McCain meeting Anna Nicole Smith? He used to watch her show, and was complimenting her on it. She had no idea who he was. The video could be seen at http://www.theinsider.com/news/1307005_Video_Anna_Nicole_Smith_John_McCain_Meet or http://boards.msn.com/TVboards/thread.aspx?threadid=833091
Arnold , the superstar didn't too well at the box-office, did he? A third of the stadium cut off with a giant curtain, entire section behind stage empty.
Even the superstars need good scripts.
oh arnold: you better stay at home and take care of your budget deficits in california - come on, you're even considering privatizing the california's beautiful state parks; and that little shop of horrors always growing monster created by your correctional system. listen to maria and the girls, they know what side of history to be on!
>>>Schwarzenegger also “mocked Democrat Barack Obama, saying 'he needs to do something about those skinny legs,' needs to buff up those 'scrawny little arms,'...
==========
Sorry, Arnold.  But we can't all be washed up action stars who lived their life on STEROIDS.  Maybe you shold try cleaning up the massive deficit in your own state.

And who's idea was it for you do do TERMINATOR 3, anyway?

Obama/Biden '08!

this is what I think of Ahnold.

At least his wife still can make logical decisions.
I was dissappointed at Arnold's speech.  It sounded like a school yard rumble between the bully and the nerd.  Obama is very attractive - some people don't appreciate the Arnold look....but I have heard anyone making fun of him.  Republicans have not displayed much 'class' this year.  I for one am sick of their 'whining'.  McCain has whined about the town hall meeting rejections and public financing rejection by Obama and indicates that may be why he is losing.  If the USA is run by a President Obama like he ran his campign - then we can be proud.  I am sorely dissappointed by McCain and Arnold.  I won't even take time for Palin.
Perhaps the arena was not filled to capacity because it was Halloween night, but you did have to find something negative about the event to put in your article. :)
In the clip of Schwarzenegger mocking Obama's campaign spending, Arnold said "I think... I think there will be a backlash against all of this lop-sided spending. I think Americans and Jews, they will say, 'Our Democracy is not for sale'."
Americans and Jews???
Jews aren't American?
Isn't that newsworthy in and of itself?
*
OBAMA SAID --- YOU ARE "SELFISH" IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GIVE "TAX REBATES" TO THOSE WHO DO NOT PAY ANY INCOME TAXES!

(IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO EXPAND "WELFARE" ... YOU ARE SELFISH?)

OBAMA HAS A PERVERTED SENSE OF FAIRNESS & JUSTICE ...

AND IT IS BASED ON REV. WRIGHT'S SERMONS ON "BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY."

APPARENTLY ---  REV. WRIGHT'S "BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY" IS A WELFARE THEOLOGY.

It looked to me like A LOT of the crowd at this rally were kids.  Is that the new strategy to fill McCain rallies?  Maybe he could get the Wiggles, then he could fill the place up with toddlers.
Hey, Arnold  We could turn that around and urge you to buff up what you have between  your ears.  Why is it that you are threatened by someone who is intelligent?  Have y ou ever stopped to think about it?   How does Maria stand it.
Come on Arnold, McCain is built like a rock? You've been in the gym enough times to know that McCain is a tired, old, run-down has-been. His, and your, glory days are over. You started off as a bipartisan leader who fooled the people enough to get yourself elected. Your true nature has also been revealed, as evidenced by your tumbling poll numbers. You are on the Republican side of giving more and more to the rich while cutting programs that provide services to those most in need. If caring for your fellow man is socialism, then my church and my local community would prefer it to cutting basic services to support those who have already made their millions. You are both phonies who don't give a damn about the people. Only your own egos. You and John Sydney McCain III are two peas in that pod. Girlie man.
Who cares about Arnold. See enough of him once a year. Also since when is joe the plumber a hero? Joe is a fraud and a fake. Tells me alot about McCain/Palin. I am retired military and i find McCain/Palin disgusting. If Aronld wants to hang with those type of people then I hope he goes back to California and stays there. Don't need him in Columbus.
My goodness!  What has Mr. Obama's physique got to do with anything?  This was a ridiculous statement coming from a faltering campaign.
I hope Swartznegger has his butt kicked out of California if he starts to get into this dirt sligging of McCains. That LITTLE man is no man(what is he 5ft tall???)and where are those gay photos of his??
look what arnold did to california, with all that boay that he have, and when will he learn to speak english.
look what arnold did to california, with all that boay that he have, and when will he learn to speak english.
That's the problem with the McCain campaign. McCain gets Arnie to campaign about Obama's skinny legs, etc. Is that what Americans are worried about at this point in history?
The way Obama beats up pn and tries to intimidate everyone with challanging questions it seem to me that what he really wants is absolute control.  This is beyond socialism - I see things under him going toward communism.
Whether it be Obama or MCcain, Arnold used words with no respect of someone who might be the next President of United States of America. America gave him opportunity, that is right, now he as Governer of a state can publically insult a potential next American President and show him as weak to the world?

Actually, Obama has looked stronger AND more appealing to all along this campaign than MaCcain. No that it matters, age may have worked against him. Some people were disappointed in selection of Vice President, because they thought he would die at any time in his presidency. I think that is funny, but it does not help Arnold's views.

This is not a movie Arnold, and do not pretend that you are a real terminator. There are quite a lot people in America much more successful than you think who do not have an artifically inflated body like you.

Ahhnold doesn't change anything.  No matter what Ahhnold says, the economy is still destroying people. People remember how the rich got super rich and the Middle Class got jobless under Bush-Cheney, McCain-Gramm. After all, McCain wants to keep the Bush tax cuts for the rich, tax health care premiums and do away with employer-matched health care programs, and give billions of dollars in tax breaks to corporations, even to oil companies which have had the most profitable year in their history. Meanwhile, what will happen to the Middle Class under McCain? They'll be left behind just like always.
McCain has never been built like a rock even in his young years.    And Arnold isn't that young anymore himself supporting that belly around with him now.  I'd like to see Arnold and Obama on a basket ball court.   Obama would show Arnold what being thin is all about.
Leave it to the idiot Schwarzenegger to make fun of Obama's body and mind. What if we talked about our opponents body and mind (or lack there of). We don't need a Rocky in the white house we need someone with intellegence/ patience/ knowledge NOT A FEAR MONGER
The latest gambit of the McCain campaign--to depict Obama as a socialist--is transparently bogus.  It is just a last-ditch attempt to throw another slimeball against the wall to see if it will stick.  It's one further sign of the desperation of a campaign whose ideology is bankrupt.  It has no new ideas to set forth.  McPain's principal proposals have been to cut earmarks ($13 billion per annum = to a little more than one month's expenses in Iraq!) and freeze spending (just at the time when the government needs to spend $ to create new jobs).

As far as the "spread-the-wealth" charge, what's wrong with making our progressive tax system, which we've had for years and which both parties have accepted, more progressive?  Bush has skewed the system by cutting taxes for the very wealthy, while people at the bottom of the economic ladder have suffered a significant loss of real income?

Ahhhnold's comparison with European socialism is laughable and he surely knows it.  But desperate people say outrageous things, don't they.  Maybe he'll help McPain in Ohio, but he sure hasn't done much for him in California, has he?  Last time I looked, his state favored Obama by 20+ points.  If Obama wins, though, maybe Ahhhnold will consider going back to Austria, especially since he says the European countries have all learned the error of their socialist ways.
As a CA Independent who voted for Arnold, I am disappointed in this pandering speech putting party before country.  Arnold should listen to his wife!
I think after this election and the damage Bush,McCain,Palin and their merry band have done to the Republican party that they in all truth need to look for a new party name, now I would like to suggest a new name for their consideration, they could call it the Tax,War&Oil party or TWO for short, now that has a nice ring to it and would without a doubt be a ralling cry....
