That’s some streak

Posted: Monday, November 03, 2008 10:14 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Obama has now led in 111 straight national polls with methodologies we trust (looking back through the Pollster.com national trend), including the trackers back to Sept. 22-24 when a Gallup Tracking poll showed the race tied at 46%-46%. Since a Big Ten poll that showed McCain up 46%-45%, Obama has led in 117 of 119 polls.

Imagine that you did not vote for Abraham Lincoln.

Imagine that you did not vote for FDR.

Imagine that you did not vote for John F. Kennedy.

When your children and grandchildren ask you years from now, "Did you vote for a great president?"

What will you say?

Will you say, "I had a chance to make history but I shrunk from the task".

Or that, "I was afraid that our country was not ready for such change."

Will those small eyes look up at you with admiration because you did the right thing, or will you always feel like you played a "ney sayer" part in the greatest election of our time?

I am an american who fought for his country and stand behind Obama, I find it is so pathetic how the republicans are lying and cheating thier way into office. First of all scaring democratic voters into not voting and lying and telling them that there is 2 diffrent days to vote is also pathetic. Just another way that a republican candidate does what they can to make the rich, richer. I really hope my vote counts for something and as a democrat I have already voted so no one can try and fool me or lie to me about my rights as an american citizen. Everyone use your right to vote don't let anyone tell you or scare you into not voting which is your right. Go Democrats...
Thank you Dear Lord for these poll numbers.  Thank you for Senator Obama.
Too bad the right-wings want to 'cling to their guns and religion' instead of embracing 'christianity' and temperance.
They will not celebrate with us now, but at the end of the first Obama administration- they will see what we Obama supporters already know for certain.
Hey Domenico......what were you before you worked at MSNBC?.....A FERTILIZER SALESMAN?
You SOCIALIST OBAMA-LACKEY!
CHANGE IS ON IT'S WAY ! CHANGE IS ON IT'S WAY ! CHANGE IS ON IT'S WAY ! MOVE OVER FOR CHANGE. VOTE OBAMA.
“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can,” Obama said. “It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.”
Barack, what did you mean and what will this kind of  philosophy do for our jobs here in PA and those in WV? Please don’t do the “What I meant to say” we’ve heard so many times now. It is getting old and we don’t need that kind of wishy washy talk from a person who could be president. Why does it take you once or twice to get things right. Even Joe Biden said we have to expect that from you. We need a decisive leader not one who has to back track and second guess what he has already said or done.
Here’s the deal folks, if obama is elected he will let down his false image and go back to being who he really is. Back to Rev wrights church, back to being best friends with Ayers, back to supporting anti American groups, back to supporting terrorist groups.
Question is do you as Americans want these people running our country ????

Currently we are fighting Muslims in 2 different countries, why elect one to high highest position in the world, here in the US. During world war II didn’t elect a Japanese or German to the presidency so why now ??? Times maybe hard now, but if obama is elected they WILL get 10 times worse. Do you want history to show a Muslim named Hussein to be listed with our great leaders? Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Hussein?

I don’t care what he keeps promising; HE WILL raise your taxes! He can’t afford to pay for his welfare programs without raising taxes. He’ll raise your taxes by repelling the bush tax cuts. That alone will raise you taxes, mine will double. America think long and hard do you really want someone with NO experience, with terrorist connections, and who supported over 20 years of anti American sentiment as our President ?  He has consistently changed his mind when things didn’t suit him and realized they wouldn’t work. He is like putting someone who has never flown a plane in the pilot’s seat with all of us as his passengers. People I understand we want change (as do I) but he is not it. He is too radical in his beliefs and too mysterious with his past.  As of yet he still has not produced a legal birth cert to prove his a natural born citizen. WHY? He keeps telling everyone he is Christian, but until he moved back to the US he was a practicing Muslim.
As, Brian Brokaw said on the nightly news there is still so much we don’t know about him. Too much to turn our country over to him to do as he pleases.

Tomorrow, we elect a new President, let’s elect one that we can trust and doesn’t hide his past. Elect someone who has America’s interest at heart, not someone who wants to liked and admired in foreign countries. We need leadership here! The economic crisis will end, and the country will be strong again only if McCain wins. Think about your children and grandchildren, do you want then to have an America to grow up in????

Pray that God does still Bless America !
If McCain wins this one, it looks like a lot of Pollsters will be out of work. I don't think that will be the case. Margin varies but outcome doesn't.
Giants vs Patriots 08, remember the stories before the game started? SUPERBOWL BABY!
Why has the MSM referred to Senator Obama's temperament as "COOL" rather than "Reserved", "Reticent", or "Restrained".  I have never heard this term applied to a white candidate.  WHY?  Major pet peeve!
National Polls are meaningless. Looks like all the pundits want a close race --- perhaps that translates into better ratings?

The economy rules the day. McCain is out of touch. The republican administration has increased unemployment, increased the deficit, weakened the average take home pay per American ... and if you care about jobs then you have two choices.

1. more of the same under McCain

2. a new direction under Obama

At the end of the day there is no risk in voting for Obama since he could not do worse than Bush / McCain no matter what.

Independents vote Obama
Obama says he is absolutely committed to almost doubling the capital gains rate — something he will easily accomplish with a Democrat Congress.
In the coming months — when investors realize that Obama will raise the cap gains rate — there could be a stampede of asset sales as investors rush to take their profits now to avoid Obama's doubling of the tax rates next year. OBAMANOMICS attack on American business, your employers. Ask Michigan what Jennifer Granholm’s tax increases on business did? Seen the unemployment leader lately? Business started packing up and moving out.
The polls, while not perfect, still give a good snapshot of the electorate.  So at the end of the day tomorrow, we will be electing a new president and that man will be Barack Obama.  If McCain wins, the pollsters will be out of jobs since they will have proven they are unable to perform polls properly.
The end-all will be tomorrow.  I CANNOT wait to vote.  Incidentally...someone should ask Sandy from Toledo and some other McCain posters to come up with some REAL REASONS why we should support McCain other than the superficial sidestepping designed to cover the REAL REASON why they won't support Obama...racism.
Headline reads, “The World Hopes for Its First President”…..scary to say the least.  An ABOMINATION.  Coincidence?  Think about it.
Hmmmm.  Must be the reason the Republicans are getting desperate and resorting to all the dirty tactics to suppress voters. Thanks for your "dirty tricks" story today - it is essential reading for all. But it won't work - NOT THIS TIME.
Patriots Undefeated. Giants Wildcard. You know the rest of the story.
That streak is almost as "impressive" as the streak of consecutive days that the national media has been drunk in bed with Obama and showing him overt bias by both 1)Strongly emphasizing anything that makes Obama look good and anything hurtful to McCain and 2) muzzling and de-emphasizing any positive McCain stories or hurtful Obama ones.  The issue of Obama's aunt and her illegal status in the US is the latest example (of MANY).  The media's articles have been only concerned about "who leaked this story" because it might be harmful to Obama rather than wanting to know if Obama TRULY didn't know her status and digging to find out.  I guarantee that if it had been McCain's aunt, you guys would've had articles titled "Did McCain REALLY not know she was here illegally?"
Thats, impressive. It does say a thing or two about the mood of the electorate.Obama should win provided that all the groundwork(get out the vote) is done properly. And yes,i don't think race would be a factor at all. there are many good non racist white people who believe in Obama  and thats one of the main reasons he has been able to maintain these leads. They are tired of the dead and divisive policies of the republican party.
Watch the Stock Market if Obama wins and feel the love. Will it go up, or will it go down? What will that do to the 401k's of the nation?
Ain't That Grand!!!!!! Obama is your next President everybody! Definitely a cause for a huge celebration! Republi'kins, as far as all the Democrats are concerned (remember us, the ones you disenfranchised and literally pushed aside for the last eight years??), yeah, that would be US now, controlling your lives!!! SO GET USED TO IT!!! LEARN TO LOVE BARACK as we do!

:)

Yeah, that's right. I can smell some good ole Republi'kin rump roast cooking on the BBQ!

How do you like your Republi'kin, Speaker Pelosi??? Rare, like a good red meat should be?? Or cooked well done, with a nice grill marks across their backside???

How 'bout you Sen. Reid???? You want a good plate of this here Republi'kin Pulled Pork BBQ??? Ummmm, Uh! Good! Eat up!

lol...OK, no one is remotely suggesting cannibalism. But the wonderful, visual symbolism of Karl Rove and the rest of the RNC having their butts collectively roasting over an open flame, is an attractive mental image.

GoBama!!! 08!
For me it has come down to a choice between Hope vs. Hate and Change vs. Fear. It's unfortunate that the Republicans strategy has been reduced to "fear mongering".
Get out and VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN '08/12!!!

Most of us will be better off.

A RABID REBUPLICAN, FAT, OLD, PREJUDICED WHITE GUY NOW FOR OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!

First Read folks,  take a look at this spec piece I did for Hardball in Sept. 07.  It's called "Hardball in the Heartland" It's interesting how it shows citizens from the farmers market talking about the economy as a election issue back then.  They were ahead of the political curve.

I don't see myself getting much sleep in the next couple of days.  There will be no ease until President Elect Obama is announced.  The last eight years have delivered a beating to my community, my family, my nation, and we need to move beyond these destructive policies that Bush and company have implemented.  It is time for a change.  It is time for Obama/Biden. I fear what further ills a McCain administration (more Bushists) would inflict upon us.  Vote!  Phonebank!  Canvas!  GOTV!  GO BAMA!
Regardless of what the polls say, the tension among Obama supporters will not lessen until a Wednesday morning, undisputed victory is in the bag.
(This is my 47th post in the last week and the other 46 have been ignored).

Please take nothing for granted, get out and vote. Never mind the wait, the lines won't seem as long if you take a book or just start up a conversation with the people next to you in line. It's your/our future, it really matters this time. VOTE!!

Obama/Biden
thats bananas.
Here is the problem I have with polls. Pollsters poll respondents. But we never hear about the non-respondents, people who politely decline to participate. How are they voting? In a race such as this, that has a clear politically correct sentiment to it, I have to wonder if there is a hidden vote out there that is not being picked up. The exit polls in 2004 were significantly wrong when they projected Kerry the winner. Apparently many conservative voters  chose not to participate in the  exit polls, skewing the numbners. Can the same thing happen this year? We will find out Tuesday night.

If you dont vote tommorow, no blogging for the next four years.
J. Merle Stanley, Westchester, NY: '...So, I guess we shouldn't even bother to vote since MSNBC has already declared its' winner...'

It must be a BITTER PILL to swallow, J Merle

      ;=D

The darkness is lifting ...
The clouds are opening
End of the line for the right wing, Merle
We probably won't get 60 Senate seats, but I'd settle for Szxby Chambliss' head on a platter
Knocking off eith crooked Mitch McConnell or 'grifter' Norm Coleman would be sweet, too

J. Merle Stanley, 'Official' spokesvillian of the McCain smear campaign
Don't be surprised if it turns out to be very close or even a McCain victory. The GOP will employ every tactic at their disposal to ensure they hold on to power. For them, the Ends justify the Means.

It's remarkable how we have yet to hear of any voting machines flipping McCain votes to Obama, but we've heard many, many instances of the opposite happening. Rather curious wouldn't you say?

Here's a video of the Right Wing machine in action. It's called McChapter 7 - Morally Bankrupt.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8gJ_rPHXtk

Please send it to anyone who might still be undecided or persuaded away from the McCain/Palin Mess. We need to stop the Right Wing Lunacy.
Not so quick....

Millions of people still have to vote....

Lets wait until Tuesday night AFTER the polls close to declare the winner.

I'm a registered Democrat voting straight Republican this election.  We need checks and balances in Washington.
It's not over until the Supreme Court says it's over. Then we can look back over the polls and say how good or bad they were. :)
I still DO NOT trust the poll numbers.  And....judging by the way the people came streaming in our Local Obama Staging Office here in Florida...to help out, lots of other people in my state do not trust these polls either.

We all sat home, voted early in 2004 and watched a lead for John Kerry go the other way.  I am NOT sitting home this time!!
Interesting that their are some that don't think winning the presidential nomination is an accomplishment.....

BTW...what makes a person qualified to be the POTUS is winning the election.  At its heart, this is what a democracy is all about, the will of the people.
Though it is all looking so GOOD for Obama DO NOT BE COMPLACENT...If you haven't voted, make sure you do...Stand in the sun, rain, cold or heat and make your voice heard VOTE!!!!OR it will NOT count.

I forgot..you attended Harvard and was a Constitutional Scholar?  I forgot you inspired millions to get involved in their government again?

What was I thinking????
LOOK AT HISTORY AND YOU WILL SEE HOW PEOPLE ACT. WHEN THE ECONOMY IS DOWN PEOPLE LOOK TO SOMEONE BESIDE THE PARTY WHICH IS IN OFFICE. THEY FEEL SOMEONE NEW CAN NOT BE WORST THEN WHO IN NOW.
THE PROBLEM IS THE ECONOMY IS BASED ON FAR MORE THEN JUST BOTH PARTIES AND WILL TAKE ITS OWN TIME TO CORRECT. IF THE CYCLE CORRECTS ITSELF BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION THEN THAT PERSON WILL LOOK LIKE A GENIUS. IF THE CYCLE DOES NOT CORRECT ITSELF BEFORE NEXT ELECTION AND GOES DOWN THEN PEOPLE WILL BE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE. REMEMBER YOU CAN ALWAYS SAY IT WAS THE OTHER PERSON BEFORE ME WHO DID THIS ONLY SO LONG.
Glad this election cycle will be over tomorrow! It has been a great adventure and a roller coaster of a ride. I am not paying any attention to polls, I am looking at the electoral college numbers and the paths to victory for each candidate. Everyone must be vigilant and VOTE, no matter the length of the line or how long the wait. Remember Americans were sprayed with water hoses, attacked by dogs, and many died for Americans to vote in this country. Please do not take VOTING for granted, it is a priviledge paid for with blood.
In 2000, 2004 and over the last eight years we have been lied to consistently as the Bush-Cheney admin has boldly pursued their private agenda to benefit Special Interests and a select few and have given the majority of us only apathy, the costs and an abundance of subterfuge.  They have done this aggressively with arrogance and without any conscience and today we see the results in the significant and drastic problems we now have.  Those few benefiting from this irresponsibility return both overt and covert support, campaign contributions and promised delayed compensation; George W Bush has even bragged he will quickly pass his father and Bill Clinton in wealth after he leaves office.  We are now seeing a rerun of the same dirty politics from the McCain-Palin camp as they aggressively pursue another smear and scare campaign, without ever really addressing the issues, just depending on lies, exaggerations, far stretched accusations and guilt by association, which they offer by word-of-mouth, on websites and in their speeches.  They ask us to believe their obviously twisted evaluations faulting and attacking Obama-Bidden and the Obama-Bidden solutions and then we are suppose to just trust them, that they McCain and Palin know best what to do, as if everything is all about them.  Common sense should convince us that tactic is simply a con and just more of the same style deception we have been misled by in the past.  McCain’s history really has not been one with a lot of impressive results and rather instead demonstrates someone who impulsively jumps to whatever position he feels favors him for political advantage.  Palin, besides being grossly unqualified, shows us an aggressive, totally self-focused, dishonest and ‘cocky’ personality that lacks the diplomacy and others awareness to perform at the level required.  In the mean time, Obama and Bidden have consistently, comparatively speaking, maintained a higher class presidential campaign with a concentration on the issues and in offering specifics of real solutions.  Their solutions, and not McCain’s and Palin’s rationalized and critical interpretation of them, offer the needed real change to resolve the problems with the focus being on the neglected middle-class, which means the economy and everyone benefits.  If we don’t reject the total bull that McCain and Palin are offering and then are once again deceived, because she is cute or he is a war hero or we lean Republican or because we have conservative concerns or whatever, then we can literally blame ourselves as being co-responsible when we end up with just ‘more of the same’.  In the end, it is up to us and we really can’t withstand ‘more of the same’!
Fortunatly 10% of those polled are actually voting for McCain...not to mention most undecided will vote for McCain also.  It was fun Obama, how long did you think it would take the American people to realize all your promises were empty rhetoric.  Its a shame Hillary wasn't the Democratic Nominee...she actually would have had a better shot at becoming the next POTUS.
I am not allowing myself to believe that our eight year nightmare will be over tomorrow as I am expecting dirty tricks at the polls.  McCain et al cannot win except through stealing and I expect they will try. Go vote and be prepared to fight for that vote.
Vote Baby Vote!!!!

GO Obama/Biden '08
kerry in 2004 was only up 3 points and still got the election stolen from him, obama is up between 8 to 11 points and theres no way mccain can catch up in next  24 hours with that kind of margin. and also i find it hillarious that some people think obama is still consider a communist or adolf hitler...lol. listen people if that is to happen the marines will be storming into the white house and make sure we keep that s**t birds like that out!! look at bush administration did, how he ran the country on his own ideology and not once listen to the american people! get use to it because you're going to love 'president barack obama'
Palin is an idiot.  She spoke in Florida on Saturday.  She kept referring to Lakeland, FL, to those in attendance.  The only problem with this, is that she was actually in Auburndale, FL and not Lakeland.  ALSO, I really thought she was running for vice-president, however, the signs that the audience held, were only showing PALIN.  McCain signs on the air were non existant.  She mostly spoke of what she would do as vice president.  I was beginning to think that McCain might have just turned the presidential race over to Ms. Palin, since most of her speech was about herself rather than Mr. McCain.
