From NBC/NJ’s Mike Memoli

RICHMOND, Va. -- Biden made a brief visit to a polling location here, mingling with a crowd of about 50 outside Montrose Elementary School.

“I always feel good at the end of the race,” he said when asked about his mood today. “But it ain’t over ’til it’s over, so we’re waiting ‘til the votes close, right guys?”

Biden was joined by Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine at the stop, one last effort to get out the vote in a location where high turnout is critical for Democrats’ chances.

“The Delaware senator was greeted enthusiastically here, posing for photos and signing autographs.

Take a picture! Make me famous,” Biden said as he hugged one woman. “We doing history here, you know?” another woman said to him as she took a picture. “I’m loving every minute of it, I love you too.”

A few voters handed Biden their voter cards to sign.

“I don’t want to get you in trouble,” Biden said as he autographed one. “I want to make sure your vote counts!”

When another man asked if he could sign his card, he addressed the Delaware senator as “vice president-elect.” Biden didn’t flinch at the premature promotion, saying, “Sure I can.”

As Biden greeted two children, a 6-year-old boy named Alex pointed at a flag pin he was wearing that had the Secret Service emblem.

“Would you like my flag? Let me pin it right on you,” Biden said, taking it off his suit coat. “That’s a Secret Service flag! Wear it with pride.”

A poll worker came out and asked Biden to come inside to greet some of the other workers. He said he didn’t think he was allowed to.

“Oh yes you are,” she replied.  “We checked the Virginia law.”

“Apparently they told me that I’m not allowed,” Biden insisted, looking back to Kaine for confirmation.

The campaign also said Biden met with first-time voter Wayne Philips, 19, who suffers from sickle-cell anemia. He was too ill to go inside, so officials brought a machine outside for him.

Biden is now already back at the airport, and heading to Chicago. He’ll spend some down time with his family as well as conduct some satellite interviews. Obama and Biden are not expected to watch returns jointly at first, but will eventually meet up for tonight’s rally.

It will be a long night, but the wait will be worth it.  Hopefully we shall know sooner than later if we can start calling him President Elect Obama and Vice President Elect Biden.  BUT....here's the silver lining should McCain pull an upset and win...no more Bush! And, I can finally return to sobriety after spending the last 8 years dinking just to get through the Bush disaster.
At the risk of sounding too gushy, I wish I'd been at that polling site in Virginia this morning to meet Joe Biden. He's always been my favorite senator (no matter what state I lived in at the time), so I'm especially glad that he'll be our next VP, with Obama as Prez.
Way to go Joe!!!!  Love that guy!
Joe is awesome and will be a great VP; I can't wait!

This election year has been a roller coaster ride and I have really enjoyed MSNBC, including Pat B. and Joe Scarborough (LOL).

This blog has provided an outlet to the daily madness and my fellow bloggers have made this election very memorable...there are so many I can't name everyone!

No matter how this election turns out (let me retract) hopefully Obama wins, MSNBC is now my 1st choice to view and my husband whom is deployed to Iraq, faithfully visits this site to stay abreast of issues.  Although, he states over there they are only able to view Fixed News, ugh!  Wonder why?  But says Soldiers are pumped up about an Obama presidency, so take that Fix News!

Thanks MSNBC, especially Keith O, Chris M., Shuster and Rachel Maddow!

I am curious though, I kinda’' figured Chris M. was a republican, but I can't help but know he voted for "THAT ONE"????
Hopefully, tonight the country will make history and move our nation forward in a way no one could have imagined. All Americans, no matter what race, should be proud to live under the stars and stripes... We're about to the world why America is the greatest place on earth!
Yeah so what...the new republican heroine has cast her vote in Wasila for four more years of fear, debt and flag waving faux patriotism...
Work it, Joe!  Work it!  Awesome news, and a great story.
Did Biden challenge anyone that wasn't voting for him to an arm wrestling match?
I was there!! That was Biden? Didn't recognize him. Botox must be wearing off.
Biden is a class act!! Obama's choice for VP was right on. What a team, our country will be back on track in no time.
If we needed a President to organize rallies and give fancy speeches, then Obama is the guy. Sadly there's problems to be solved, and Obama seems ill-equipped for those jobs.
I was there when Biden stopped in!  It was sooooooo awesome!  I planted a kiss right on his cheek!  I'm never washing my lips again!
What a guy.  I love him and cant wait until he is Vice President.  Obama got my vote when he picked Joe Biden.
Imagine being finally able to have elected officials we can actually go see, touch, talk to, and such!

Four years ago, the front page headline on The London Times, after Bush was elected Read: HOW CAN $51 MIL PEOPLE BE SO STUPID? and I think it was a genuine question I asked myself too. today, we redeem ourselves finally!
I ask my litle (6) year old  grandson what does he want for his birthday..He replied he wants to see Obama for his birthday..I through it was the cutest thing..His name is Zion
KEEP YOUR CHIN UP CHAMP !
We, the people. Barack Obama and Joe Biden knows what this election is all about. I have complete trust that the two of them will navigate the difficult road ahead of us so that our country will be great again and we will regain our respect in the world.

Joe is about as real as it gets and he is immensely likeable.

GO OBAMA/BIDEN
Wow, he is a great American!

I live in Maryland and voted this morning, it was incredible.  I took my 2 year old and told him we were voting for his future.  He say's 'barackobama' real fast and it is just one word to him, but he says it clearly.  I can't wait to show him the pictures I took today of him and my ballot so later on in his life he will know he was a part of history.

I am so proud today and can't wait to get home and see if we won or not!
What a waste of cyberspace and the human race. Instead of wealth redistribution why dont we try work redistribution. Get those on welfare to do the jobs illegal aliens are doing and they can get a paycheck.

Yep folks it is called working for a living.
Biden is a classy guy.  I hope he has good news tonight. I am a former PA girl and he does me proud.
Won't it be wonderful to have both a president and vice-president we can be proud of?  We have almost survived Bush/Cheney.  Now we can look ahead.  Joe Biden, you are the nicest, most real person!  What a nice gesture to give the child your Flag pin.  I'm sure it will be treasured as this is history in the making.
It's a great day for Americans no matter what the turn out!  Proud to be a part of this history.

voted Obama/Biden!  :o)
Maybe Joe could debate his senate opponent while he's at the polling place? You know, maybe just a little?
I love you Joe. You are going to make a wonderful VP.
I've been praying all day for a change, and I know we will have it tonight.  Now it's time for the real truth of the people.
I am under the understanding that you cannot campaign at a polling venue. Is this just something that is individual to a city/county/state? If it is true, why was Biden at a Virginia polling venue talking w/ voters and giving away Secret Service Flag pins?
What a great story!  So many little things done right by everyone involved.  I work in an elementary school and everyone is brimming with pride in our country today!  This is a day I will always remember.  We live in a wonderful country, and every four years we are reminded of the special freedom we all share.  I had the privilege of talking to a class of first and second graders this morning about the importance of today, and their parents right to vote.  One of the students had on an Obama shirt, and we talked about his right to show support for what he believed in, and the need to respect children and families that support Obama or McCain.  Everyone is just so tuned into this moment in history that it's amazing.
