Nader: I have only one word for you...

Posted: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 3:14 PM by Mark Murray

From MSNBC.com's Bob Sullivan
Satire.

That's how Ralph Nader closed his third-party presidential campaign today at a small press conference in Washington D.C.'s National Press Club. He instructed reporters that he would only give one-word answers to all questions posed -- in a sarcastic nod to the sound-bite nature of election coverage.

The stilted question-and-answer session felt at times like a bad game of "Jeopardy." Reporters played along with little protest and reached for questions that led to one-word answers. Many even started asking one-word questions, though that wasn't in the rules.

But there were some telling moments. Here's a sampling:

What is your opinion of Obama? "Clever."

What is your opinion of Palin? "Developing."

How much money did you raise for your campaign? "Insufficient."

Why do you keep running for president? "Justice."

Will you be elected president? "No."

When do you think you will win? "Sometime."

What should Bush do on his last day in office? "Surrender."

Will Obama be able to provide tax cuts to 95 percent of the population? "Impossible."

What is your opinion of the media? "Servile."

While he predicted a "landslide," for Obama, he reserved his harshest words for the Democrat. Nader said in various ways Obama would disappoint supporters and not do much to change the power structure and status quo in Washington. Asked why the Obama years might not mimic the sweeping changes that marked the FDR presidency, Nader said, "Cowardliness." Asked to elaborate, Nader said, “corporations.” He also called the money raised by Obama to support his campaign, "disgusting."

Nader, finally, when asked if he would run again, he offered only this reply:

"Maybe."

obama worked for ralph nader when he was younger. obama was never paid for his work. i wonder if nader read that little bit in obama's first book, he sounds bitter.
Funny, he never once used the word "Jealous."
idiot
Best description of Ralph Nadar? "Pathetic"

Obama/Biden '08!

Ego
Nader....annoying.
Is there a bigger a-hole on the planet?

These will be the same questions, and answers, Obama gives in four years.
Nader has reached the ned of the line and so the bitterness is understandable- he doesn't like either side- he writes off corporations but wants to run for president? Not very pragmatic is he?
I'm not convinced that "old" men would ever make good presidents.  They seem to revert to toddler behavior.  I tolerate that in children because they haven't learned 'impulse control'; but the two oldest men running seem to show such an utter lack of maturity to run the free world, it is 'mind bottling' - happy to quote from Blades of Glory - funny schtick.

PS.  Paul Miller, you are in FINE form today!  Cracking me up!
poor old ralph
They left out the part where they asked Nader what he thought of McCain.  He didn't use a single word when he responded to that.  He just vomited.
Nader: Dorky
Very true....the media is servile...it does take billions to become president....palin will resurface for years to come along with hillary, and barack will inevitably dissapoint, not for lack of trying but due to the political structure in washington
"Pentagon Briefings To Start Immediately"

First order of business, show Obama which end of the gun to hold.
Irrelevant.
In keeping with the spirit...

What do I think of Nader?
"Schmuck."

Why does he keep running for President?
"Insanity."

Why do people keep supporting him for President?
"Marijuana."

What should Nader do on the last day of this election?
"Disappear."
I can't figure out why the press continues to cover the Nader ego trip.

As a progressive who has worked in the environmental movement for the last 20 years, I can understand why Nader might feel the need to challenge 'traditional Democrats'. But his decision to run again, against Barack Obama, the first Democrat to actually run as a progressive since FDR, underscores that Nader is more fixated on his own ego than on the need and opportunity for progressive change in this country.
On the Regis & Kelly poll McCain won hands down.
It gives you an idea of who watches what show and what shows you might want to delete from your schedule.
Idiot.
Bitter.
"Genius"
I find it disturbing and insulting that Nader would say that money raised by Obama, largely due to regular everyday citizens, would be disgusting.  It would be nice if Obama would donate the remaining funds to a worthwhile cause.
A vote for Nader is one less vote for the socialist. Look for the positive.
Ralph, I don't agree with you on much, but I like your assessment of Obama.  His mega money of support is MORE about his broken promise to take public financing than it is about those who gave it.  But even there, his campaign has allowed untraceable amounts to come in so that it's certain some people were giving over the maximum and probably illegal foreign money as well.  If he breaks his promise on public financing (when convenient) what other promises will he break later to the dismay of the american public?
This is ridiculous.  Just use complete sentences Nader!
Gore
This coming from the man who put Bush in office.
"weird"
I have 2 words for Nadar-get lost
-Who's fault is it that over 4000 soldiers have died in Iraq?   "Mine"

-Why do you keep running?  "Narcissistic."

-You don't ever do any work in the time in between elections to help any 3rd party candidates get elected to any office, anywhere. Who are you really doing this for?  "Ralph!"
One word for Nader: bye.
intriguing.
Sorry, Mr. Nader, but I don't consider myself and several thousand other individuals giving less than $200 to Sen. Obama's campaign "disgusting."
Concerning Obama. "There's a bad moon on the rise."

(Creedence)
"Irrelevant"
idiot.
Bravo!  All candidates should be required to give nothing but one word answers.  Anything more they say is useless anyway!
Absolutely brilliant!
two words: sour grapes
My one word for Nader: Egomaniac
"jealous"
revealing!
Just one word for Mr. Nader: CRYBABY

To describe the money raised by obama as disgusting is exactly why this guy will never go anywhere in his bid for president. he simply has nothing but disgust for the american people. how can thousands and thousands of american citizens supporting their candidate be described as disgusting. sounds like sour grapes to me.

Nader had a golden opportunity to sell himself when he was on bill maher's show. instead he took that opportunity to be a bitter man and did nothing to help himself.

once again: CRYBABY
Its sunny today, I voted for Peace and Justice, I voted for the Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzalez ticket for USA President!
I used to respect Nader, but he's nothing more now than an opportunist. Isn't it also funny that he appeared MANY times on FOX news? You're nothing more than a boring wind-up doll,Ralphie.
My response to all of this?

So?

What do I think of Nader?

Who?

Where am I going now?
