McCain camp mood

Posted: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 10:36 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Kelly O'Donnell
Senior staffers are gathering to spend time with Sen. McCain at the "family villa" they are using tonight on the hotel grounds.

Various senior staffers describe McCain's mood as "good" and "he's fine."

There is a collective sense among staffers that this has been a "valiant effort" and a "great fight" in "historically difficult times."

Other describe a feeling of "no regrets" and members of the senior team contend they "left it all on the table."

One advisor says McCain himself feels "that he let his staff and supporters down."

They continue to watch results and await more actual vote totals.

No details yet on when Sen. McCain will appear.

Congrats America we have a muslim for president.
As a former United States Marine, it is shocking to me to have a Commander-In-Chief that has no (anti-military) background whatsoever and with Obama's associations of terrorist and radicals that want to overthrow our government he would not even be eligible for even a secret security clearance.  I fear for our country's national security.  You will see a definitive increase in militia groups and compounds in this country because of this new radical celebrity they are electing.  And by the way - I am a young white educated (two master's degrees - thank you) American.  God help us.  After the liberal radicals are done destroying the country there will be a politcal bloodbath in four years from now.  Americans we have come to their senses and vote in a more moderate (not necessarily Republican) senate, house and executive branch.
IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE PERSON TO MAKE A CHANGE BUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE CAME TOGETHER TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE. THE COMMENT THAT MATT (OWENSBORO, KY )MADE JUST SHOWS HIS IGNORANCE AND THE MCCAIN PARTY NEGATIVITY. HE'S JUST LIKE THEM. CAN U SAY OBAMA WITHOUT HATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
big mistake...big, big. I have lost all faith in the ungreatful america i was once proud to fight for. all you that critic sarah...i am alaskan, and you should really consider your media. she's done great things for my home, and would have as the VP. i pray we make it through the next 4 years. thank you, america, for being as a whole, stupid.
Poor babies. McCain and Palin ran on the tired old Republican platform of hate, fear, and distortion. It was like watching the Mafia run for the Presidency!

McCain is a hero,  he ran a valiant fight and should have won,  and probably would have if he had had just a few things in his favor.  The press was biased,  spending much more time and money following his opponent.  The money,  of course,  was another issue, and this should be on the list of things that need to change.  If one does not take only public funding,  he or she needs to account for every dime.  We do not know where all the money Obama got came from and this is something that needs to be corrected.  I have never seen so many attempts at voter fraud and if the Republicans tried to do something about it,  they came out looking like the bad guy.  Then of course,  there was the economic mess the congress and some thieves on Wall Street created.  Then for some reason a large number of the soldiers overseas did not get to vote, through no fault of their own.  President Bush took the flack he did not deserve and what was done to Sarah Palin was just shameful.  She is a beautiful and talented woman with a wonderful political future, and just because her experience was not with Congress...  does Congress really prepare one for the Presidency?  I think NOT.  No,  things did not swing in McCain's favor but with all the odds,  he ran a close race.  And he is the honorable man of the two.  He has fought for and loved his country for years, also unlike his opponent

Now we will have a president who did not like us very much before we recently "restored his faith in us."  One who will allow us to be scrutinized if we ask any questions he does not like.  A first lady who was finally proud of America just this year.  An administration who thinks we are selfish to want to pay less tax will be in charge of our government,  and a President who has made all kinds of promises he cannot keep, and one who seems to want to follow the same path that took us to a horrible depression.

What has Bush done or what could McCain do that could possibly be worse?
I feel that our country is going to have blood on its soil once again.  The terror of 9/11 was just the begin.  We have just giving the country to all the terrorist.  GOD BE WITH ALL OF US IN THESE THE END TIMES.
It saddens me that anyone would vote for a man that has a spiritual leader who refers to caucasians as the white devil, who can't recite the pledge of alligence, has replaced the american flag with his own logo and has a wife that has never felt proud of her country until now. I am afraid many will regret the choice they made over the next 4 years.
Senator McCain is a true hero with real character. I doubt Obama would have made the same choices as McCain if he would have been in that POW camp. Perhaps, David Duke would like to run for President as we seem to no longer care that our leaders are racist.
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE we must all come together tonight (after the tears or celebrations)before laying down to sleep and REALLY PRAY(some of usforthe first time) and ask GOD to guide our NEW ELECTED PRESIDENT and CONGRESS to make the BEST decisions/choices for this GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!! ALL those that no longer feel AMERICAN (because their candidate lost) should just leave this country PERMANENTLY....We Must Unite AGAIN against anyone that HATES us as a country!!Signed, a Mcain voter
It is sad that McCain played the game "their" way to try to win this election. He is a storng and honorable man. I voted for him today, I would gladly vote for him again.
I don't give congrats to Obama yet. What has he done? I have not seen much proof of the changes in his own state yet, he has spent most of his time in the senate campaigning.
It is also sad that as a country everyone is more focused on the fact we have elected a "black" president than they are that we hired the one who can get things done.
If we have a look at the world today, alot of trastic decisions have to be made, hopefully for America and the world this is only the first step of many more that have to be applied to bring everyone together
good luck to all
Actually and truly, I'm in shock! I never thought the Dems would pull it off.  McCain is a good man, and may have been able to affect some good.  His mistake was choosing Sarah Palin. 0% approval rating (Not a statistic). She drowned him, unfortunately.
It's time to move this country in the direction that GOD meant for it to be as one nation under GOD.Once everybody realize that each one of us want our future generations to succeed to the next level and beyoung.Whether you Black,White,Hispanic,Asian,God is our Holy Father! God Bless all of you.
It amazes me how those claim to love America the most have so little faith in it. "Fear" is a word being spoken most frequently by McCain's supporters. However, "fear" is not a word of intelligence or thought, it is a word of cowardice and lack of faith in this beautiful country.

It equally amazes me how many hypocritical comments I see to the effect of "I can't believe the Dems are so hateful. I'm GOD fearing and going to heaven, unlike those HELL-goers" and "I can't believe the Dems are so divisive. Not like us REAL Americans."

Really? I mean...really?
Its about time McCain saw it in writing that he was destined to lose. Go Home McCain, with your tail between your legs
Well I voted republican, what can I say, but I hope Barack Obama really, I mean really commits to what he has said to us all in his debates. God help us all if he doesn't.  Thank all of you for the mudd slinging on both sides and GOD BLESS YOU.  GOOD NIGHT we have a rocky road ahead of us.
To Senator McCain & Governor Palin:
Thank you for your efforts & May God Bless you both!  Governor Palin, I hope to see you come up on the ballet in 2012!!

To our new President Obama:  May God bless you and guide you as he hears the prayers from our nation!
Thank God we are now trulely one nation indivisable under God. Unfortunetley Allah may think differently!
Sit down buckel up and hold on.  Life as we know it is over.  If Obama does as he promised he would.  There is one God regardless of which house you worship in.  Now is when FAITH will be proven.
I just want say to all of you that voted Obama and Biden into office is that I really feel strongly that you made a big mistake and I dont think it will take that long until you realize it and regret that you voted for Obama / Biden. I sincerly hope that they prove me wrong , these are my thoughts and are the thoughts of many other " Legitimate American Citizens"
around the country , I only hope that my right of freedom of speach will be protected and honored and printed as Sandy from Ct was, that was rude and as far as thanking Jesus Stephanie Dillard I wonder if you will still be thanking Jesus later when your freedoms of religion are slowly taken away .
The America that became the greatest force for good in the history of the world is now officially dead. The Founding Fathers are weeping in heaven. Obama, on the record in his own words, stands against their beliefs. Everything they fought and sacrificed to achieve is in the target of a radical inexperienced puppet and his minions. May God have mercy on our country, and on the souls of you poor ignorant people who just sold it down the river.
I am so happy that this has happened and that we have won over the republican mentality and Bush type of leadership if you wanna call what he was doing leadership. McCain is a good man and I do give him a lot of credit for his military experience but just because he was in a war and was wounded dosn't mean we have to give him the Presidency. He showed his true colors in his campain and that is what brought him down. Now he has to deal with his decision and go back and see if he can learn how to do it right next time. In all fairness Bush screwed this place up so bad that it can only go up from here so lets give this all a chance and work together to make it happen.
Ann in Utah, God Bless you.  It is UNREAL to see the uneducated foolish youth vote for someone who was honest about that one thing, they hate America!  Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they have done.
McCain was set up to lose from the go - like Dole in '96 - I suspect he was actually shot down by a fellow Naval Aviator that had lost friends on the Forrestal because of McDumDums stupid stunt - the GOP has refused to listen to the people's strenuous objections to a disastrous foreign policy - fiscal & monetary policy - but the Dems are owned by the same plutocrats

If Dr. Paul would've had a level playing field he would have easily had the nomination - and been leading in Nat't polls over 3 to 1

Strap on your seat belt - the rider w/ the scales (Rev 6:6) approaches - the "remedies" they will use - like FDR back in the 30s will only make the problem worse
Funny how this site censors some people (me, for example) but allows stupid and insulting remarks to be posted from people on the right. Some right wingnut posted something near the top about this election being "bought and won with the money and young uneducated young (sic) people going with the crowd" (both obvious falsehoods) but when I point out who the undereducated people are--the ones who buy into the low-brow despicable lies and accusations perpetrated by the McCain campaign on Obama, that is apparently considered something to be censored.
My desire would be to see a practicing Christian with biblical principles be elected.  But it appears that we will have an inexperienced President shortly, who doesn't stand firm on the true word of God.  Obviously the Lord  has a plan for America and I pray that his will be done.
The plain mean spiritness of some people never ceases to astound me....I have neve considered myself very political, but I have always known that for which I stand.  I may not own a gun, but I believe in the right to have one; I may not like war, but I believe that it is important to protect, defend, and to serve. Just a year ago, a girl could have been killed in Iraq just for going to school. Now, there are girls in school and female teachers! And, I wholeheartedly believe that life begins at conception and that a life should not be terminated because the birth would be an inconvenience because the would be mother is "too young," "too old," "too single," or that the child would be a constant reminder of a painful experience.  John McCain has been steadfast in his stances, and I am proud to have voted for him.

Obama supporters can be happy for their candidate without resorting to bitter verbal attacks. If your candidate one, enjoy it. Learn from John McCain, who gave such a gracious concession speech.  Clearly, a man who truly loves America
McCain made a serious error in judgement when he chose Palin as his running mate.  She had no experience and turned his campaign negative with lies and half-truths.  Obama was the better choice.  Government will not fix our country because it was never God's plan to have government.  That choice was made that choice and we have to live with that disastrous choice.  Obama can't fix the nation either, but I think his views and policies follow God's plan more closely.  Read your new testament and old, it discusses living in a community where we share our successes and help our brothers in need.
IF our country survives the next 4 years without being taken over by the Middle East, or being vaporized within a mushroom cloud, one thing is for sure...our country will be so filled with welfare abusers and illegal immigrants, no Democrat will ever again be elected to office.
Today the people of America rejected a war hero who has served his country in one capacity or another for fifty years in favor of a nobody from nowhere with no record of sacrificial service and nothing going for him but an above average oratory skill and the unabashed admiration/ adulation of the national media and young idiots at colleges and universities nationwide.  Welcome to the era of the manufactured President.  Any serious guesses on cabinet appointments?  Think Colin Powell would come back?

RIP United States of America
July 4, 1776- November 4, 2008
Welcome to the collective.
O.K. news flash..... Obama has not been declared the president so we need to wait and see what ALL of America has to say first!!
I hope the posts by McCain supporters are more disappointment than true feelings.  I voted Obama simply because I thought his economic, health care and priorities were acceptable; McCain did not give me enough info to make a comparison.  If Sen. McCain had run his campaign as well as he gave his concession speech, this election would still be going on still.  His message of working to unite (or re-unite) this nation was absolutely the right thing to do, much to the chagrin of some in the crowd in Phoenix.  The real chore begins tomorrow for we face so many challenges.
I can only hope the nation can unite a work together so the US of A can once again lead the world in innovation, wealth, ideals, economically and militarily.  It will be a long haul, no matter who had won.
The plain mean spiritness of some people never ceases to astound me....I have neve considered myself very political, but I have always known that for which I stand.  I may not own a gun, but I believe in the right to have one; I may not like war, but I believe that it is important to protect, defend, and to serve. ONLY IN DUE TIME, WILL YOU SEE THE MISTAKE YOU HAVE MADE BY PUTTING OBAMA IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
Could you be anymore childish? A Great American conceded with class and dignity, and you gloat and behave like nasty little brats. You should be ashamed of yourselves. If you are an example of the Democratic Party, we are in for a sad and petty 4 years. As for his chioce of Palin. We will see how wrong it was when she runs in 2012.
Real americans, huh? why isn't barack obama a "real american"? i guess that means that i'm not, either. and i guess i am uneducated and go with the crowd. all you judgemental LOSERS serve exactly what you got: defeat. the majority has spoken, that's what you get with democracy, if you don't like it, too bad.
I agree with 1SG Verle Wright....if Obama wins, over the next four yrs dont blame me, I voted for McCain!!!!  We better all start praying for the fate of our country!!!  If Hugo Chavez wants to see Obama as president then we as Americans need to wonder why does Hugo Chavez care who our president is going to be when he hates America SO much!!!!
Sen. McCain did not let anyone down! His campaign was honest. More than I can say for Obama, who so elequently danced around issues and straight answers with his silver tongue. I mean, really people. Obama wrote a foreward in Bill Ayre's book, yet, "he's just a guy in my neighborhood". A senator who can't make up his mind and take a stand for anything? What great experience does he have, yet, you ridicule a Governor who was elected for her experience  (not because she's a woman), who has done ALOT for her state and the people love her. Biden was AGAINST Obama, until he was asked to be his running mate. Has the intelligence and education of people in this country gone out the window? Sen. McCain & Governor Palin gave a valiant effort! If anyone has let the american people down, it's the media! Makes you wonder whose really behind Obama? This is a sad day for us all....GOD help everyone.
I feel very excited about the direction that our country is heading.  I believe that Obama is the right person to restore us in the eyes of the international community and get us back on track to clean up the horrible debt that the last administration has left us.  God bless Obama and Biden, and may we all commit to working together for the future of this great nation.
I don't understand why most people posting here are just complaining.  The country has made its choice, and whether we like it or dislike it, we have to live with it.  Let's do the best we can, shall we?
Indeed America has spoken. Congrats Obama! We are ready for the much needed change around here! Si Se Puede!!!!
So when can we expect the first of many disasters?  How long till we get a terrorist hit, because you elected this weak man to run this great nation.  How long before Biden's prediction comes true.  Congratulations Obama voters we are now France...
Well, I voted for Obama but I want to say that over the years there were many times that McCain led many drives and refused to work with Republican programs.  I'm 55 and my son spent two tours of active duty in Iraq including the big Falujah battle.  He lost Marine buddies, he went into Mosques during that battle that the US had so graciously agreed not to go into.  He and the Marines found that many of the mosque towers were literally stacked to the top with every type of war weapon imaginable.  Marines would have to hide the best they could at night prior to that while  "religious mullahs" would welcome Al-queda to enter, get weapons, setup and shoot from the towers by killing young America boys in the head, legs or wherever. They had perfect locations.
For months, I remember the press saying that "Fallujah was impossible to take back" that "it was a lost cause".  You might remember the photos of "The Marboro Man" taken by a "LA Times" photographer.  That photographer was assigned to my son and he held on to him for dear life.  They were in a room during the battle and were feeling
the results of a missle hitting a few yards away when he took that picture.  So why am I telling this?
Simply because the rest of the story is that WE TOOK FALLUJAH BACK in 3-4 days.  The press beat our men down with their stories and my son came back with photos of the many of the general populace who lost everything including husbands, children, wives, homes...everything.  But, I saw photos of these boys turned to men coming back after seeing the horrors of war and Iraq women and older children running with washcloths to tend to these Marines.  To help them. I'll bet you never saw any of those pictures EVER IN THE PRESS DID YOU?
I just hope that Obama knows that Iraq is sitting in the middle of all future problems and that we can't abandon the people.  McCain understands this, yet I voted for Obama because for some reason I don't believe that he is going to listen to the biggest idiot on the hill, Harry Reid.
I believe that Obama is a "man's man" and that he recognizes the significance of how things can turn on a dime.  Talk all you want about the Taliban but  back up Iraq and let him call in the millions of dollars that Bush was supposed to receive for our help.  They have a unbelievable surplus and we've financed it. Pelosi/Reid/& Franks are not a team they are a "scream".  They've been working the same game for a long time, which was to get political control. They haven't done anything in the last 2.5 years even when Pelosi said they would. Well, now they have it all. Except for one BIG THING I believe that Obama is not going to just let them go through with all of their ideas because frankly many of them are simply insane.
By the way, my Marine son voted for Obama also so this is a vote of faith that the man is really not as much a "party line man" as his democrats think he is.  As a matter of fact, he could not have won this election without a lot of Republicans (including myself and many of my friends) voting for him too.

Please, after 8 years of blaming Bush for almost everything that has happened, I really hope that American can go back to becoming a country that understands that POLITICS has many behind the scenes people that cause or influence the decisions, popular or unpopular that eventually create our problems.  Let's quit putting it all on one person.  Damn, if I want to hear people yelling "this is all Obama's fault" down the road at some point...
It's time for a new start.  The dems have got the reins, I'm not upset at all for the simple reason that THE MAN THAT I ANTICIPATE TO BE PRESIDENT IS NOT GOING TO BE MANIPULATED INTO DOING THE WRONG THINGS...I don't think that we could be in better hands at this time in history.
God Bless America, our armed forces, the lives of our brave solders who gave so selflessly, and to all that can remove the hate and vile spit that they utter during their conversations when they point at a particular figure because they're so sure they're right...  Get over it.  It's time to get civil.
Peace.
I hope we don't have to say (I told you so) about Obama.
I will not be mean like some of you are about Macain but I think we have all made a mistake about the about the choose that has been made tonight.  God help us all.
First,I honestly like things about McCain and Obama. They are both decent, fine men. They both for the most part ran honorable presidential campaigns. BUT,NEITHER candidate has presented an economic plan to turn our country around during these troubled economic times!!!! :( Hellllllo!! Second,McCain has nothing to be ashamed about or to apologize for. Third,he made a big mistake choosing Palin as V.P. Fourth, regarding some of his comments..he showed a detached..didn't really know what was going on thinking about how serious the economic crisis is in the U.S.A.!! He should have sought out a respected businessman or two for advice and counsel like Obama did. :( Fifth, regarding the comment about Palin being nasty..that's nonsense! Get real! Remember,as I read the other day..it doesn't matter so much who is elected. * It's the POLICIES that will really matter. That's where the Bush
administration..specifically in his 1st term blew it. God bless America!!
Wow! Reading these postings makes it very clear that we are a country divided, not united. I am highly disappointed, not only with the outcome but with my fellow Americans. I hope that Obama can deliver the goods and will embrace the country instead of tearing it apart.  All I can say is please pray for peace and contentment for our country in the days and months and years to come.
As a young American, I'm a little unsure of what to think when i think about my future...in four years i hope to have graduated from college; what do i have to look forward to? a ruined economy or a thriving nation? GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!
our money says.............in God We Trust.....we pleage our allegiance to God...........He has given us the President we deserve....Selah
I hope we don't have to say (I told you so) about Obama.
I will not be mean like some of you are. I think we have all made a mistake about the about the choose that has been made tonight.  God help us all.
I am very upset at an Obama presidency.  He is TOO young and naive, and his international ignorance will cause a war--a war that might just be our last.  Obama is a terrorist, and McCain let America know that.  This election wasn't about McCain or Obama, really, it was about our own lack of self confidence for we elected a person for president that lied to us, has a history of drug abuse, and has ties to terrorism.  I feel we, as a nation, have let our children's children down.  God help us now.  And all you Nobama supporters, you really need to learn to follow your OWN wisdom, not the crowd.  Money bought this presidency, and terrorism and ignorance will bring it down.  Thank you Senator McCain for your dignity and honor during this race and for telling us the truth about Obama.  I wonder, if all these Obama supporters wives lied to them, would they still support them?  How low our expectations have become.
