McCain's call to Obama

Posted: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 11:25 PM by Carrie Dann

From NBC/NJ's Athena Jones
Per Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs, McCain called president-elect Obama at 10 PM Central.

"Senator Obama thanked Senator McCain for his graciousness and said he had waged a tough race. Senator Obama told Senator McCain he was consistently someone who has showed class and honor during this campaign as he has during his entire life in public service.

Senator Obama said he was eager to sit down and talk about how the two of them can work together - Obama said to move this country forward "I need your help, you're a leader on so many important issues."

I used to be a republican, and am retired from the Navy, ETC(SS), USN(Ret).  But I'm not a Democrat either.  The bipartisan system is SEVERLY flawed, and I am now registered independent...hmmmmm...where were the candidates this year?...anyhow:

Stop bashing McCain OR Obama!  My choice would have been McCain, based on his experience and his supreme military record, and thus I voted...but guess what?  Obama is our commander in chief!  Get over it, move on, and support our new president!  He is a good man, and lets give him a chance!

In 4 years, we'll have a chance to reevaluate the man...and maybe I'll vote for him, and maybe I won't, based on his performance.  But for now, he is my leader, and thus I will follow.

Christians:  Stop screaming about Socialism and whining about this and that...Obama IS a Christian, despite the dubious nature of his former pastor.  See what happens, trust your God, and do what the Book you CLAIM to believe tells you to do...support your appointed leaders!

One last thought...Democrats and Republicans, because of the Bipartisan system, and virtually inseparable anyway...except for the FAR left and right emotional issues, in the middle, the are all the same now anyway...sad but true.

Hey Dawn - you are in serious need of psychological counseling.  Your bitterness is as toxic as poison.  Take a deep breath and put down the gun - everything is going to be alright.  If you love this country and are a real patriot, you will work to make it successful again so that we can lead the world into the 21st century.  If not, then just stand aside and let this new wave of freedom loving Americans renew the promise of our great country.
Looks to me like there are a lot of sore losers here. Probably the same people that cheered when the election was stolen from Al Gore in 2000. Well the American people have spoken and have said they want CHANGE in their government. One of the things that I noticed was the crowd booing as McCain mentioned Obama's name during his speech. While in stark contrast the Obama supporters  cheered when President-elect Obama mentioned McCain. So, you tell me which group is more interested in the success of their country?

The Bush administration and their arrogance have destroyed the reputation of this country throughout the world. I was amazed at what I read today at the attitude of other countries about this election. I believe that we have turned a corner and are now on the road to the recovery of this nation. There is now a light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train, it is the light of day.

Congratulations President-Elect Obama!
really hope that Obama turns out to be a good president, I don't think that it will happen but one can hope.  It is just a shame on how Obama fed on the uneducated americans to win the presidency.

He will have try really hard to top Mr. Bush.
Just to clarify, you have to be a natural born US citizen to run for president.

A fact that seems to be lost on some fellow Americans. So no I voted a fellow American into the presidency, and I for one cannot wait to see America changed for the better.
God bless you, John.  But that audience-  See what you've sewn??
As a college student I am proud to say I voted for President Obama; what our country has experienced due to the Republican Party and George Bush was Horrible & unacceptable. Obama will make life easier for the average college student. Its safe to say, based on what I saw tonight at the University of Rhode Island, the way people reacted and cheered, CHANGE was needed and we achieved that tonight.
This is scarey.  Obama mocked God's word, the Bible, has voted for abortion, killing the unborn and homosexual rights.  GOD CAN NOT BE MOCKED!  The wicked will perish like the grass.  Obama lied about Ayers, has corrupt friends everywhere, has an ungracias wife.  I think CHANGE will come but it will not be the wonderful anticipated change.  It will be the judgement of God on a Godless and hateful person.  Remember that Jesus has promised to come again and He will judge.  I pray for His mercy on a nation that has put up with pornagraphy and Hollywood and adultery and taken prayer out of the schools.  America is in trouble.
Not just a great day for America, but the world. Having lived overseas for over 10 years it is a joy to have a third cultural person elected who can respect differences, strive for solutions (not demand ultimatums) and unite the world.
I hope he is a better President then he was a Senator. As I see it most of his time since he became Senator has been spent not representing the people of Illinois, but in his quest for the White House. I did not vote for him but I will give him my support now that he is the President elect. God bless America!
I believe McCain lost because he chose to play to the worst in our collective natures - the posts above are rife with bigotry and unpleasantness, spawned by fear and willful ignorance. President-elect Obama is a courteous, thoughtful man whose speech and actions reflect deep Christian roots - you know - that "love thy neighbor" stuff? Nowhere in anything I've seen or heard from him is anything nearly as ugly as some of the stuff being spewed here. We have a chance to heal and become the nation we were meant to be - please try to step up and be the best, most respectful, most responsible person you can be - for the love of this beautiful country of OURS!
