Wasilla looks to Palin's future

WASILLA, Alaska -- At the Wasilla Sports Complex in Sarah Palin's hometown, it was the first -- and only -- loud applause of the night when Sen. John McCain mentioned Palin's name. Otherwise, the room was silent and stunned. A line-up of rock bands took turns on stage, but few people here are in a festive mood.

"You know when the next campaign starts?" A clearly disappointed Phyllis Robertson said. "Tomorrow."

Here, the pride for Wasilla's former mayor is tremendous. Many supporters came tonight wearing the same updo the governor has made famous. Vendors are selling T-shirts with slogans like "Palin: She Doesn't Run with the Pack, She Shoots Them" and "My Pit Bull Wears Lipstick."

One pin reads: "Palin 2012."

Kelly Caraway of Wasilla brought her daughter to witness history -- though not the outcome she had hoped for.

"From the beginning, I said it would be good for Sarah no matter what happened," she explained. "I'm glad we get to keep her in Alaska for a while, but we know it's not forever."

Alaska you can keep Palin. She can compare herself to a six-pack; a pit bull. Many American's were disgusted with her comparisons. She can think of herself as a six-pack and pit bull because she has lived up to that reputation with the way she down graded the American public both male and female.
Good luck in Alaska because you are going to need it and I think the USA is smarter than having her on a ticket in 2012.

Obviously Obama supporters are as gracious winners as can be expected (as can be noted by the previous responses to this article)....good to see that Obama's acceptance speech struck a chord and that we can now move forward to work together (or with the attitudes above, maybe not!)

I desperately wish you would just go away, but am enough of a realist to know that the media will scoop her up in no time. The only thing I regret about her returning to Alaska is the wildfile that will suffer a horrible death at the hands of her and her family. Very pro-life, I must say. You betcha.

I am a Voter whom pays attention to what i hear on television. Not just in Ads by politicians but also from the mouth of the Person(s) running for office. I have to say that "Joe Six Pack" And The Plumber from Ohio, makes this country sound degrading and poor. The fact that Obama won, is a good thing. Sarah If you really think that killing our wildlife for just fun is a good thing (The lawsuit against making the Polar Bear an Endangered Species)and have filed a lawsuit two prove it. I think that you need your head examined. You are either looking for huge profit gains in get rich quick or have a mental block to not realize the beauty that this creators God has given us NEED PROTECTED. Just because you have the right to free speech does not mean you should exercise it. At one time we Americans had manners, professionalism, and respect for our fellow citizens. Perhaps those of you that are bashing Mrs Palin, should attempt the challange that she accepted before you criticize how she reacts in front of hundreds of millions of people. I would venture to say that most, if not all, would crash and burn. Let's see how you would do, put your money where your mouths are and sign up for the next presidential race in 2012. As you can see there are plenty of people waiting to criticize your every move.
On another matter, congratulations to President Elect Obama, I wish you the best for what you are about to undertake.
