From NBC's Mark Murray
First Read has learned that Sarah Palin will attend this week's Republican Governors Association meeting in Miami, where she will hold a press conference and deliver a speech.

Video: In a news conference held with reporters late Friday, Gov. Sarah Palin answered some of the controversy generated during the last weeks of the presidential campaign. NBC's Brian Williams reports.

This RGA event is drawing particular interest because 1) it will start the conversation about what the GOP needs to do to get its groove back after losing last week's presidential contest; and 2) it will kick off the speculation about the 2012 presidential race.

Other attendees at the meeting include: Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford. (California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn't been confirmed.)

Below is a schedule of the open-press events at the meeting:
WEDNESDAY.
1:15-1:45 p.m. Governors Luncheon featuring Governor Tim Pawlenty.
2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Plenary Session I: "An in-depth evaluation of the 2008 election cycle." Featured speakers include Governor Bobby Jindal, Governor Haley Barbour, Governor John Hoeven, Byron York, Dr. Frank Luntz, and Dr. William Bennett.
4:10 - 5:00 p.m. Press Roundtable featuring Ambassador Rob Portman, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Welcome Reception featuring Governor Haley Barbour.

THURSDAY.
9:40 - 10:00 a.m. Press avail with Governor Sarah Palin.
10:00 - 11:45 a.m. Plenary Session II: "Looking Toward the Future." Remarks by Governor Sarah Palin. Featured speakers include General Tommy Franks (U.S. Army-Ret.), Rep. Mike Pence, Dr. William Kristol, Governor Tim Pawlenty, Governor Mark Sanford.
12:30 Press Roundtable: Discussion with Governors Charlie Crist, Rick Perry, Haley Barbour, and Mark Sanford.
7:00 - 9:00 p.m. State Dinner: Speeches delivered by Governor Rick Perry and Governor Charlie Crist.

I agree with several prior comments, she relished being divisive and spreading rumours and then complained when the media printed rumours about her
and played the poor, poor me pity game.  Anytime she
can't answer a question or respond favorably to an inquiry she complains that we are focused on these silly things when we should be focused on other things.  That would be wonderful to do, but all these little things that have come up about her show who she really is and that is one scary thing.
Please tell me this is not the beginning of the 2012 election!

Beginning of the 2010 election. Just like the Democrats started doing right after the 2006 election.
"Quite a bit of bias there don't you think?"

Average White Guy (Sent Monday, November 10, 2008 1:10 PM)

Yes, I would certainly agree there is quite a bit of bias here but not from the media but from those who blind themselves to what they wish to see - I include you among them.

Happily most in this country do not share your affliction and we have a vetted president-elect and a vice-president able to perform his constitutional duties.

From what is now being said by Republican operatives, Senator McCain's handler gave him poor advice concerning Sarah Palin and now they regret it.  Too bad they were not as honest prior to the voting.
Well easy win for the Dem in 2012, if she attempts to run again.

I hear you; however, after George W. Bush received all of the legitimate votes he did in both 2000 and 2004, I will NEVER take anything for granted.  EVER!!  We must work hard to do everything we can as citizens to ensure that the GOP does not attempt, like they did with President Bill Clinton, to hamper Barack Obama's success from the second he steps into the WH as our president!!

Never again can we allow the GOP to stall our success and redirect our attention to further their whacked out agenda!!

She's soooooo wonderful.  She's the woman of our time!
The GOP will go ahead with Sarah Palin at it's head; leading to absolute mediocrity and the dumbing down of America.  Here's to ambition beyond grasp and image beyond substance.

Pam - take your pill girl. The big one this time.
By looking at who's attending, I'm thinking that a Crist/Jindal ticket could be good for the GOP in 2012. Of course, I hope it doesn't happen being how I'm a Democrat!
PLEASE NOOOOOOO MORE PALIN!!!!!! ENOUGH OF THAT AIR-HEAD, HOW THE HELL WAS SHE ELECTED TO BEGIN WITH. PROBABLY RIGHT  PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME, I HONESTLY BELIEVE SHE STUMBLED INTO POLITICS BASE ON POPULARITY!!! PLEASE MR. MURRAY WRITE ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE.

Oh, sour grapes are so sweet here!!

For Obama to advocate himself as the leader of a new and fresh group of Americans who want to share and reach out to others, his followers ( if these bloggers are representative of the people he attracts) sure are mean spirited and closed minded. Where is the LUV people?! A simple show of respect for another human being who is trying to make a contribution,as well, to this nation, would be a first step. Your man won - work with him and stop bashing.
Democratic Party proves it continues to be the most racist, hate filled, nasty, disgusting group of humanity in this country. New symbol for the Dem's, the Hippo, get it, Hippocrats! Look in the mirror and you know who I'm talking about. The party of hate and anger, and yes they just won the election and control and look at the entries above. Very Sad.
Average White Guy......I think that name fits.  Grades C average.  Yea, I want a leader that's a C!  That's what wrong with people who seem to wallow in ignorance and division.....division, that's when you divide.  Palin is the biggest joke on the national scene....divide that by one and multiply by ten.
Please Sarah...please run for President in 2012!!! Barry Goldwater's loss will be dwarfed by the margin of the level of the Democratic landslide. The GOP better take along hard look at itself, if they truly believe that she is the future of the party...the party that gave us Lincoln and Eisenhowr.
It's amazing to me when republicans blame democrats for trying to destroy Sarah Palin, when in fact republicans are the ones throwing her under the bus. How could she not know that Africa was a continent??  The amounts and extent of what she doesn't know is alarming in the extreme and she wants to run again!  Is she kidding me!! Another example of do as I say, not what I do.  It's very sad to see so many people in denial.  The worst is that republicans will gleefully detroy their own candidates so what do you think they'll do the rest of us.  Talk about scary!  Is Holloween over???
>>>There certainly is an effort from the Democrats and the liberal news media to destroy this woman, and to do so as quickly as possible. They're afraid of something, and more then likely for a lot of reasons. If they really thought she was such a klutz, they'd leave her alone and be assurred the American people would never vote for her. But that doesn't seem to be the case now does it?
Merry Jenns, NM (Sent Monday, November 10, 2008 1:03 PM)

==========
Exactly why is it that everything this woman does is somehow the fault of the media or the Democrats?  The Democrats aren't the ones who are throwing her under the bus with annonymous stories about her spending habits, or her relationship with John McCain (such as it was).  If she really wants to endear herself to the public, she should start by taking some personal responsibility, and her supporters should also get it into their heads that the REPUBLICANS are the ones who want her gone because they know that she will ultimately do more harm to the party.

Besides, I want her to stay in the limelight.  The more she talks, the more her ignorance shows and the bigger laughs she gets.

Dave in Omaha (Sent Monday, November 10, 2008 1:35 PM)

I thought McC would pick Crist this time; and you're right, I'm glad I was wrong!! However, I also believed Palin was on the very short list because of the whack jobs in the GOP; I was happily right on that one!!
And excuse me; however, Palin has a list of ZERO accomplishments; she had the audacity to insult the job of a community organizer, who utilized these skills to connect with millions of Americans.  Palin has done zero!!

And you are the governor of what state?  Even if you disagree with everything she stands for, recognize the fact that she's accomplished plenty.

You just don't get it, do you?

She was the wrong woman!  She wasn't prepared for to be thrust into the spotlight that is running for VP.  Whose fault is that?

It's not the Democrats fault and it's not the media's fault!

Everybody out there who is foaming at the mouth about hatred of women and sexism needs to take a few deep breaths and understand the following...

- Hillary Clinton lost because her campaign was mismanaged and was not prepared for the nomination to be contested beyond Super Tuesday.

- John McCain lost because his campaign was also mismanaged and couldn't come up with a coherent message or an original idea.  Instead, they tried to gimmick you with Governor Palin and it seems they never took the time to properly vet her or prepare her for what was to come.

My question to you now is where is your hatred of the GOP elite that can't seem to find enough buses under which to throw her?
To all of those still doubting the Obama Presidency - please take the time to go to Newsweeks' site (www.newsweek.com) and read the seven part expose of the campaign.  It covers Obama, McCain/Palin, and Clinton. I found myself to be even more grateful that Obama is now the President of this country.  The information provided by the article is astonishing.   Clinton seemed disinterested, McCain like a spoiled child, and Obama like an intelligent man running for the highest office in the land.  The MOST QUALIFIED PERSON WON, be grateful!!!!
I know that I know, that I know, that I know, that if Palin runs in 2012 it will be another easy win for Obama, so let Palin run in 2012, America needs at least an 8 year break from the republicans.  I wonder if the GOP will purchase for Palin another $150,000 wardrobe for her first public post-election speech?  Todd probably needs some more new silk boxer shorts by now, too.  I wonder if the republicans really think Palin possesses an ounce of intelligence or that she's truly a credible candidate just because Alaska was clueless enough to vote for her as Governor of Alaska??  Does anyone really not see Alaska's penchant to vote for convicted felons and other people with questionable backgrounds???  The fuss being made over Palin only strokes her ego and leads her to believe that she truly does belong in the White House but those of us with even a sliver of a functioning brain know otherwise, we only wait for the rest of America to see this truth as well, and you will, as long as Palin continues to open her ignorant mouth to speak her ignorant words.

Yes, I would certainly agree there is quite a bit of bias here but not from the media but from those who blind themselves to what they wish to see - I include you among them.

Apparently you missed the Wash Post story admitting to their bias. I guess you think I work for them.
"If Palin thinks she has a shot at the 2012 nomination, she's insane."
--Bill Blackwell

au contraire,  insanity IS the qualification to be a Republican candidate.
Sarah Palin speaks in a simplistic style reminiscent of Miss Nancy of Romper Room.  Her comprehension of the complexities of foreign relations is appallingly lacking, as though she attained her knowledge of world affairs from a comic book.  (Good guys vs. bad guys?  Really?)

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
"Governor Palin may I introduce you to Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House". "Mr. Speaker, Governor Palin". Then Newt Gingrich reduces her to a quivering mass of spit on the floor by enunciating one gramatically correct sentence. It will be interesting to see how the "old boys club" reacts to her now that the election is over. Since it seems that Gingrich is and has been positioning himself for a run for the 2012 GOP nomination, I somehow do not think Governor Palin will any longer be "qualified" to represent the party nationally.
The simple realization that we came so close to having such an ungualified, divisive, viewless and polarizing first female vice president truly frieghtened me!  WOW...you couldn't imagine the nights I laid awake as a first time voter, the mother of four precious sons; thinking about John Mccains age, his health and his faultering judgement(just for choosing her)--someone so NOT QUALIFIED to partner him in running OUR country...thier were many of those nights and many discussions back and forth between my republican friends and myself(as I registered this year under dem. so so anxious to cast my BIG vote for this great leader that turned me onto the political process and my part in it...I spent most of my free time trying to convince everyone of Barack Obama's ability, and by the end of oct. I had brought over 22 of my friends over to my way of thinking!  Well, I didnt have the power to do it really...so the President elect won them over!  Boy are we proud of him and proud of our fellow Americans--(not fellow prisoners John Mccain?) lol Anyway, this ordeal with Sarah Palin isn't as much her doing as it is the Mccain campaigns for choosing someone so hastly and undeliberate, so to blame her for not being educated enough or worldly enough (after throwing her into a national "POWERFUL" political race) and then for staffers to come out saying all this now really speaks to the campaign members who were obvoiusly not putting country first and not listening to their candidates desire on the matter...sure shows that Sen. Mccain would not have been the leader and independent thinker everyone claimed he was....look to his pick of v.p. and look to who he wanted and you'll see very clearly what my fellow americans and I saw....and that was one obvious choice "OUR NEW PRESIDENT ELECT-History making giant BARACK OBAMA"  Oh by the way msnbc has lead the way after the excitement was spread the cold day when Pres. Obama announced his candidacy run...and he shocked the world by winning Iowa beating the clinton shoe in!  So since Jan. I have tuned in every single day all through out the day when not tending to the children in hopes of taking in and staying informed on every aspect of this election being a 33 year old woman from Kentucky, a white suburban "Basketball & Baseball mom" someone who has never had an african American friend and have seldom even seen a diverse community--only when traveling--so this is an amazing year and msnbc did a fantastic job leaving me hooked for life and ready to learn as much as I can about this nation and our demeocracy even though US history was not my favorite subject in highschool...it was at the bottom quiet frankly!  Thanks Chuck, Joe, Meeka, Chris, Keith, Dan, Andrea, Tom, Rachel, David G., and David V.,--as well as the great pundants that got it wrong so often this election year (just as many did)--also, a special thanks to Chris and Keith, such amazing American men!  So in touch with this nation and our lives as we try to find common ground..I've woke up with Joe, Meeka, (and willie) every morning and I end my long day of mothering and household managing with Chris, Keith, and our newest STAR rachel---WOW what a brillant woman (journalist and host!)  Shes a keeper so let her reign be a long long long one!  Sorry the post turned into a book but I', sure you guys are used to that; after all how many books will have been written this year when all the pundanting reaches it's end? lol  THANKS GUYS, KENTUCKY LOVES YOU MSNBC!
