Hillary for State?

Posted: Thursday, November 13, 2008 6:57 PM by firstread

From NBC’s Andrea Mitchell
Two Obama advisers have told NBC News that Hillary Clinton is under consideration to be secretary of state. Would she be interested? Those who know Clinton say possibly.  But her office says that any decisions about the transition are up to the president-elect and his team.

Clinton was seen taking a flight to Chicago today, but an adviser says it was on personal business.  It is unknown whether she had any meeting or conversation with Obama while there.

Other Democrats known to want the State Department post are Sen. John Kerry and Gov. Bill Richardson. A possible compromise choice would be former Sen. Tom Daschle.

It would be an interesting position for her, however I do not think Hillary would be interested. I think she will want to stay in the Senate, and keep a critical watch on "Insane McCain," and his political crowd. Time to move forward America!
I think HRC would be a great choice!!!  Go Obama team.
YES YES YES Please let her do it, she would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would certainly be a better choice then that idiot gigolo John Kerry.
THIS IS AWESOME!!!  GO Hillary go!
HILLARY WAS BORN TO BE SEC. OF STATE!! THAT WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT CHOICE
I think Hillary would be a great choice, although I still think he should have picked her for his VP. She got over 18 million votes and when Biden was running for Prez what did he get about 7000 votes.  We could have made history all in one year. A black President and a Women VP, but Obama did not make that choice, his first mistake.  I think HIllARy will turn him down if offered and wait for a Supreme Court Appointment or take it and Bill would get the Supreme Court Appt.
Hillary would be a hell of a lot better than any of those other losers.  John Kerry would be the WORST.
Too bad Gore has turned down this position and, apparently, any others in the Obama administration.

It does seem strange to take so many Democratic Senators out of the Senate at one time. That's a lot of special appointees and special elections.
HILLARY WOULD BRING AN ELEMENT OF SANITY TO OBAMA.

Otherwise Obama will be "eaten for lunch" by our enemies --- especially if he has to listene to the brain-dead like Biden & Kerry.
Perfect, way to go Barack. No Vp, I can understand why not, but let's do this Sec-State gig for Hil. Heck she campaigned for you bro. Good for America.
Good to hear
HILLARY for SECRETARY OF STATE?  YES< YES< YES.....It would put a very, very knowledgeable WOMAN in a high ranking office... and she certainly has had a great deal of experience in meeting  and talking with other foreign dignataries .... We need a woman of her Intelligence and Experience in this very high level post.
i think it would be great for hillary clinton to be
Secretary of state.   greattt.

That would show Mr. Obama is a fool and very stupid. She is sh??
Hillary Clinton would be a wise and wonderful choice. I hope that President Elect Barack Obama chooses her.
I want to tell MSNBC.TV and NBC TV that I am sick to death of hearing about Sarah Palin. She lost. You are trying to make a case for her to run for president, just as you tried to make a case that Hillary Clinton shouldn't be President.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is a first rate idea. It has the ring of truth about it and there is no question of her competence. I hope it happens - soon!
We need Hillary in the Senate, not as a globe-trotter.
Yay...that would be amazing!
I think Hillary is an excellent choice. I was an Obama supporter throughout the primary and general election but one thing for sure Hillary earned my respect if not my vote.  She is a talented and very intelligent not to mention tough individual and I thing she would be great.
What a super idea!
It would be great if Hillary is able to finally bring in some decent solution to the Middle East conflict where the countries will cohabit in peace; it will be a crowning moment for Hillary who is truly a bright and smart diplomat thana politician.
I want Hillary to do what is best for herself and that is to stay in the Senate and eventually run again.  I support her 100% and want to see her in 2016!
What a wonderful thing if Obama would select Hillary Clinton as his secretary of state.  Such a choice would be excellent and make the American people very happy.
Hillary would be a good choice! So too would Chuck Hagel!
Clinton as Secretary of State would be a smart selection.  She's respected, focused, strong negotiator and knowledgeable. During the campaign, I heard there were some that disliked her, but I think her strengths outweigh those feelings and opinions. I am a Republican.
Hillary would be a good choice! So too would Chuck Hagel!
Of course he should offer Hillary the job of Secretay of State. She's smart, capable and experienced. AND she had 18 million votes, which means the people of the U.S. want her to at least be in his cabinet.
I think it would be wonderful to have Hillary as Secretary of State--she has the intelligence, drive, poise, and national and international standing to be an outstanding Secretary of State--and with what she accomplished during her campaign for the nomination, I think she deserves such a position in Obama's cabinet. I don't think the other candidates are as qualified as Hillary for the job. The only caveat would be, would she be more useful to the new administration where she is now, in the Senate?
I would LOVE to see Hillary in this role.  This is exactly where I would have hoped he would use her.  Although she needs to be able to have some influence on the healthcare side of things as well...
If she feels that is what she wants to do I'm in her corner as well as the President Elect Obama.  If however, she thinks she will be more effective as a Senator I think she should stay put.  I don't really see her being a globe trotter because she strikes me as being an individual that has to have a real purpose and make a real difference.

Whatever it goes will be worth seeing!  Go Senator Clinton!
If Bill Richardson is most qualified, then why not him?  Hillary brings entirely too much drama and it kinda conflicts with what her hubby is doing.  I want the Clinton's removed from immediate politics as it relates to Obamas Administration and it's time for substance over style.  Hill showed more respect for McCain than Obama also. To me, Hillary is not that talented and the person with the most experience should get the position.  Maybe Hill will say no, then we could get down to business.
