Pelosi lauds Obama cabinet picks

From NBC's Mike Viqueira
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
is welcoming the appointments of Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, et al, today, praising the choices as a message of confidence to the rest of the world.

She told reporters at a morning photo-op that she had just gotten off the phone with Clinton and that she congratulated the senator.

Pelosi was meeting with governors Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania and Jim Douglas of Vermont to discuss the impending economic stimulus package. She says that she expects that Congress will have something ready for President Obama shortly after he takes the oath of office on January 20. The new Congress convenes on January 6.

She rejected the notion that the stimulus will be a 1930's style bill oriented solely towards public works projects, saying that the focus will be on "innovation." Rendell mentioned that there is $136 billion in infrastructure projects waiting on the shelf and ready to go once a bill is passed.

What a surprise.
A rank amateur supporting a rank amateur.
It will be so good to have competent people running the show again after 8 years of utter incompetence.  It will be so refreshing to again have a president who is honest and intelligent.

It is going to be so much fun to see Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Reid running the government and showing the incompetent repugnant ones how it's done properly.
Now, we here in NY will be awaiting for Gov. Patterson's pick to replace Clinton in the Senate.  Word is, he really wants to appoint a minority.
Pelosi is very powerful in the Congress right now however, she needs to work on her people skills. She needs to talk less, and listen more to others around her. Pelosi needs to keep things in perspective, and not mentally go off the deep end. The Obama cabinet picks seem to be very good at this time however, the real political tests will start next year.
First question to Nancy and Hillary! Boxers or briefs?
There sure is a lot of love going on with President-elect Obama these days, both here in this country and abroad.

I guess people realize now that keeping Gates was the best thing he could do under the circumstances. And that reaching out to the best and the brightest people he can find, regardless of party or politics, to come and join his Administration is terrific. It means compromise, so vital in today's world.

So our President-elect really is living up to his promises during the campaign to be President of the United States, wish means not bowing down to the "base" of his party.

This could be the start of something big.
Wonder where you start with a infrastructure as screwed up as ours, we are bareley as good as a third world country, if our NE elect grid goes out we are a third world country. It is really time for our congress to go to work and rebuild our country, not just line the pockets of the already rich, it is time to see jobs go to the people who need them, and pay them a living wage. Lets see what you folks on Capitol Hill really do.
marty
That is a Great Team you selected President Obama. Good Job!  'Good luck cleaning up the mess left to you by George W''
so much for change....all i see is Clinton II

I guess the terrorists in India didn't get the memo that we are all now one big happy family since we elected The Obama. Once they do, they too can be part of this lovefest for Obama.
'...A rank amateur supporting a rank amateur.
The Pros...'

I'm glad to see that George Bush is staying involved in the political conversation

'Pros' indeed
Pelosi and Reid were incredibly disappointing...both terrified of Bush. Maybe now they can grow backbones and actually get something done with President Obama.
Why don't all you losers (Conservative Republicans) head to Georgia and drool over the real reason why McCain lost in November (remember Silly Sarah?). Chambliss would appreciate it!
would be good for Hagel to replace Gates when he leaves next year.
The Arizona border has been wide open the entire time that Napolitano has been the governor. Her excuse has always been that it is the Federal governments job to secure our borders. As an Arizona resident, I can't wait to here her sorry excuse as to why we still can't get a handle on the border. It will be her responsibility once she is sworn in as head of Homeland Security. The fact is, all Democrats want to keep the border open, sothat when Congress shoves through the Amnesty Bill, we'll get 20 million new Democrat voters, all with their hands out. Any Democrat will tell you that we can't take care of ourselves, that the government has to do it. Anyway, the new Homeland Security chief getting a handle on the border, it isn't going to happen.
I wish Nancy Pelosi spent more time doing rather than talking.

Did anyone really expect that she would say she was unhappy with anything President-elect Obama does?  She must have been biting at the bit when he named Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State since it was so obvious to everyone that Hillary was not her favorite person (to put it nicely).

So Nancy we know your happy now how about helping the little people instead of just banks and insurance companies.  We could use a little help since the expenses have gone way up and jobs have gone way down.
I congratulate President-Elect Obama's choices for his national security team.  I think he has done what he promised and that was to bring a team together regardless of political party.  He is reaching across party lines for the benefit of the American people.  The real test I say is whether Congress will do the same thing, because that is where the real gridlock and division has been since the 2000 election.  Congress get the picture you work for the American people not the special interest.  Now let us see you work for the money we pay you!
I was impressed with the president-elect's nominees for his national security team.  I especially liked the comments each one gave. I was somewhat leary of Senator Hillary, becasue of her below the belt tactics during the primaries. As the President-elect said, during campaigning things get said. it is a part of politics. Let's us,forgive and move on for the sake of the country.
President elect Obama has made the best choices and with Senator Hillary as Secretary of State is EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT !

Definitely there is a change coming for America.

Congratulations President elect !
Take Napalitano please. Arizona's border security is a joke and she's done nothing to protect its citizens. Now if only Obama will somehow figure out how to involve McCain so we can be rid of him too.
How about a 25 billion dollar economic incentive bailout for the VA? and how come there are WWII veterans still waiting for benefits from the VA?.
The president elect has done a good job in his picks for the various cabinet slots.  It shows that he is confident and is willing to utilize the best person for the job irrespective of the party affiliation.

Well done!!
