Palin in the Peach State

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum
On the final day of campaigning before Georgia voters choose the winner in the state's Senate runoff, Sarah Palin is offering a last-minute boost to incumbent Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss.  At their first of four joint rallies this morning, Palin stressed the importance of the seat, telling supporters that Chambliss would help maintain "checks and balances" in a Congress and White House dominated by Democrats.

"Saxby doesn't just run with the Washington herd," Palin said in Augusta this morning. "And with one party in control of the House and the Senate and the White House right now, we need now more than ever public servants who will speak for themselves."

Although the state was briefly a target for the Obama campaign during the general election, Georgia supported the McCain/Palin ticket by a 52-47 margin. "More than two million of you here in Georgia gave us your vote on November 4th,” Palin noted today. “We were honored to carry the state of Georgia. So now we need you to do it again tomorrow, Georgia."

Highlighting her family life in much the same way that she did during the presidential campaign, Palin painted the Georgia race as one with far-reaching consequences for the nation. "I am kind of selfishly looking at this to tell you the truth," she said. "It's not for just for Georgia. This is for folks in Alaska and in Hawaii and in Maine and in Washington state and Washington DC. I'm looking at this, you know, I'm a mom with five kids. This is for my kids and their future.”

Many Republicans are hoping Palin will help to rally evangelicals and boost turnout for Chambliss in tomorrow's runoff election. Today, the former vice presidential candidate continued to assert that the Republican Party is not cowering but ready to lead - by presenting its own ideas and by working across the aisle.

"We are rebuilding. Republicans may be the opposition party today, right now, perhaps so. But that doesn't mean that we have to be the negative party," she said. "We have our own ideals to serve, and we should always look for ways to work cooperatively with the majority party to serve the common good, because America deserves no less than our greatest effort today."

Palin's appearance is an exclamation point for Chambliss at the end of string of GOP celebrities appearing on the Georgia senator's behalf.  Former presidential candidates Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani have stumped in the state since Nov. 4, and the party's defeated nominee appeared with Chambliss two weeks ago. Palin recounted McCain's visit today, saying, "Sen. McCain came back here because he understands that losing an election does not mean we have to lose our way. He is ready to carry on the good fight in Washington but he needs Saxby to help him do it."

President-elect Obama has not campaigned for Chambliss' opponent, Jim Martin, during this run-off, but Obama did record a radio ad for Martin's campaign. Actor/rapper Ludacris, a native of Atlanta, will rally supporters with Martin tonight.

After so many great articles this morning I guess it was only a matter of time for a throwaway one talking about the most disgusting repugnant one of all, the Wicked Witch of Wasilla.  Too bad this cluless flake doesn't go back and do her job as governor.  I just hope that Alaskans impeach her for her incompetence, her myriad lies and her grifting of taxpayer money so her brats can travel on taxpayer money when that's illegal.

Impeach Palin!
Once again "my head is spinning".
This stupid lying woman should keep her butt in Alaska, the rest of us are sick sick sick and tired of her lying. If her mouth is moving she is lying. She is an uneducated moron. Who had no business running for VP. She has cheated the Alaska taxpayers out of money and is an idiot who is so stupid she does not understand what people think about her.
GO HOME AND STAY THERE YOU MORON.I am sick of hearing your name.
OMG, she's baaack!!!!
Saraha,,,Are your kids back in school yet. After you drug them around the country when they should have been in school. But i'll bet they are the best dressed kids in Alaska, with lots of flyer miles to boot!Do they have pander bears in Alaska?
As the most negative campaign came to and end , I wanted to see the back of the most negative vile woman
ever, but not so, shes like the energizer bunny, she just goes and goes and goes. I guess its for the best that she just keeps on talking, that way by 2012 we will know her well. The better we know her the more likley she will be soundley rejected by the reasonable
republicans I know that are out there, tired of looking like fools. They have been led by a fool for 8 years and I think thats even enough for them.
I know the folks of Georgia are just happy as pigs in shi-, today, Being preached to by thier gun toting,
bible thumping, pin up in a towell. Oh you poor sic
souls.
marty
Gag! Choke! Ms Sarah is the poster child for "the perfect woman," in the republican party. Phoney intelligence, phoney looks, phoney personaltiy, unethical, illegal, hipocritical,_____________add your own.
Silly Sarah's 15 minutes are up. Go back to Alaska and fall in a snowbank.
How anyone can listen to or vote for that fraud is beyond me.
And, MSNBC, we are sick of you pushing this hocky
mom down our throats.
And Saxby there will get all in there in Washington and ruffle some feathers there in Washington. Such as if I would also do too.
Who cares, she is washed up.
Doesnt she work for Alaska??
Just askin
Martin has Ludacris and Chambliss has Mrs. Ludicrous.
PE BHO is announcing his cabinet. WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU COVERING THIS NINCUMPOOP?
If nothing else, Palin is certainly a lightning rod. Yes, her appearances in GA will likely bring out the Repub base (evangelicals) to vote, but will probably also bring out the Dems and Indies who voted for Obama. Much as I'd like to see Chambliss defeated, it doesn't much matter. The Dems have a big enough majority in the House and Senate to get things done (for a change), and P-E Obama has much bigger things to pay attention to right now, what with the economic crisis, the terrorist attack in India, et al.
To hear Sarah Palin talk about the need to eliminate negativity from politics is like being told you don't speak proper English by Gore Bush, the irony is so glaring as to drown out the message. My problem with Palin is that she and Bush are of the same ilk: they try to make stupid cool and smart "elite."

After the last eight years, it is time we stop glorifying ignorance in this country.
Who cares?
Palin seems to be more bipartician during this campaign for Chambliss. However, I think Chambliss is not the canidate to help get things done in Washington.  He is from the old school, and keeps things from getting done.  He is not progressive, would like the status quo to remain. He could be the one who will keep us in deadlock, and not get much done. I hope he is not re-elected for this reason.

Palin:  "We are rebuilding. Republicans may be the opposition party today, right now, perhaps so. But that doesn't mean that we have to be the negative party."

Too bad she didn't HEED this advice when running with McCain for the top ticket.
Memo to DNC, find potential democratic candidate for the Alaska gubernatorial election in 2010. I like Eric Croft as much as the next guy, but somebody qualified from the North Slope gets an automatic boost. Heck, even Little Diomede Mayor, Andrew Milligrock, since he ACTUALLY CAN see Russia from his house. But please, please, please DNC, start looking into 2010 Alaska gubernatorial election and get ride of her. If she lost her re-election bid, her standing 2 years later for the presidency are great diminished.
>>>"We are rebuilding. Republicans may be the opposition party today, right now, perhaps so. But that doesn't mean that we have to be the negative party," [Palin] said.
==========
This from the most negative person on the campaign trail.  Doesn't she have more turkeys to slaughter.  Christmas is coming.

50 Days Until Inauguration Day!

Good idea - get a rapper to go against Palin to go for the fringe votes.  Many will likely sit out this election...
Hopefully sarah, this will be one of the last times we will have to see your name in the news. You have been a divisive, polarizing figure in our politcal system. I for one will not forget the things you said, the way you acted. Go back to your tanning bed in alaska and let "we the People" get on with our renewed sence of hope in OBAMA and the terrific team he is putting in place to lead this country in the direction it should have beengoing for the past 8 yrs.
Every one of Sarah Palin's speeches sounds exactly the same.  Such narrowness of vision & lack of any original thought.
Who is doing Palin's job as governor of Alaska?  Maybe she doesn't need to be there at all.  When she tries to run for anything in the future, I know that I will ask (her and the media to find out), "What did you do as governor that is really relevant to anything?  What did you learn?"  If she can come up with something that is relevant to either being president or senator, it would be a minor miracle.
How's Palin doing at her day job?  she hasn't been in Alaska long enough to read her mail.  There's work for her as governor now that Stevens lost his senate seat.
Chambliss represents what is wrong with Washington. His abominable campaign aginst Max Cleland in 2002 says it all....and to think this is who the moron of Alaska supports.....Whoda thunk!!!
Glad to see the media has started to ignore her.  Actually I'm conflicted about Silly Sarah.  The rightwing nuts (Pat Buchanan) like her, so keep her around.  She, by far would be the easist conservative to beat in 2010, 2012.
I am working from home today and have MSNBC on to hear the news.  I have to keep hitting the mute button...how many times are you guys going to show her speech?
Enough already!!!!  Her fifteen minutes were up long ago.
Another embarrassing day for America.  Sarah, can you spell "Impeachment". There is a book called the DICTIONARY if you don't know what it means.
Seriously, Palin is a media obession, not the general electorate. Yes a significant minority within the GOP love her, but even most of the Republicans who defended McCain's choice as VP think she has no future.
Go Sarah! I heard you in Augusta, GA and we are behind  you and Saxby. We need someone we can TRUST!!!
A Republican pleading that "we need checks and balances in Washington", is not aware of the Republican domination of Congress for six of the previous eight years, eight years of Bush, and the Supreme Court becoming a political enforcement tool of the Neo-Cons. Only after they lose two out of three, branches of the Federal Government, do they cry for balance. Alaska has had a part time Republican Governor, two Republican Senators, and the only member of the House of Representative is a Republican. So much for checks and balances.
This is absolutely disrepctful to President elect Obama.  Why is this woman, half of the Republican ticket that was trounced, getting so much unearned media time on MSNBC.  Not even Fox News stooped as low as MSNBC this morning, deciding not to cover the Palin rally.  This begs the question what is MSNBC up to in it's unjustified coverage of Palin?
I am a Democrat who really believes in a viable two party system.  I hope the Republicans wake up and stop paying so much attention to idiots like Palin.  They have so much more to offer.
I am amazed at all the unsubstantiated, venomous and obviously uneducated remarks against Governor Palin.  Can these people read?  Or write and spell good English?  Hey...I can do it, too!!  Obama is a durty roten cowerd.  Ennybody with any since knows that to be a fact.  So there!
Go Sarah Palin!
it's amusing to read the liberal left's disgust for this brilliant politician.  they just don't get it.

or perhaps, they do. . .she IS their worst nightmare.

Palin Power 2012!
i just love this woman, so much.  she is here to STAY!
I see the deranged and irrational hate for Palin continues unabated by the posters on this site.
As Democrates and Independent thinkers we underestimated the country's capacity for dumb and dumber in 2000 and 2004.  Please make sure that we don't get lazy after voting for Obama.  Keep voting until the country comes first.  Big Business has raped and pillaged this country, disceminating the middle class.

If we are lucky the republicans will run Palin again and those people who don't want an educated, independent thinking president will be identified.

P.S. Remember if you, as democrates, independents and liberals don't buy guns & ammo only neo-con, right-wing conservatives will have guns.  Keep one industry working.

I am appauled to see only negative comments about Sarah Palin. She was right. The media has lost their way. They have lost the ability to  be objective and alow the public to see for themselves both sides without being influnced. I am sure your station got comments about this story that is not negative or down on Sarah Palin. You people talk about her being negative..... look at the pot calling the kettle black......Lou in Vallejo
I'll bet Sen. Saxby Chambliss is simply relieved to know Sarah Palin is giving him a "boost".  Just like she did for McCain too?  I'll bet Chambliss is doing cartwheels in the street on this news.  Why does the media insist on covering this fool?  Maybe if they quit covering her, she'll eventually go away.  Even McCain faded away, and with class, I might add.
"I am kind of selfishly looking at this to tell you the truth," she said.

What a surprise.
QUOTING: "And Saxby there will get all in there in Washington and ruffle some feathers there in Washington. Such as if I would also do too."

Hey does he do that 'mavericky' thing too?
I am an American who happens to love SARAH PALIN. I am glad she is a gun toten bible reading in your face kinda girl. She IS waht America NEEDS. Tell you all what, lets just wait and see what you all are saying in 4 years from now. You will be begging to have Sarah in Command!!!!!

If i say "amen to that!!" does that make me a religious right-winger?
When she helps Chambliss lose, will she finally see the light and stay in Alaska?
If she is the face of the GOP and their 2012 nominee apparent then bring her on, showcase her, trump her up, whatever. Dem's need to run against this woman! She epitomizes the fringe tail that has come to wag the Republican dog. She will be rejected again by a larger margin. Strut your stuff honey! We're all behind ya, ya know?

No comments would probably get your points across more than the stuff you guys are saying.  I don't really see this as news.  Sarah Palin is so dead end news at this point it seems we should just start ignoring it so that it goes away.
