Chertoff praises Napolitano

Posted: Monday, December 01, 2008 3:57 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Pete Williams

It's unusual that outgoing cabinet secretaries praise the choice of their apparent successors from another party. But current Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff today said Janet Napolitano, Obama's choice to take over the job, "is an excellent choice."

"I have had the good fortune of knowing and working with Governor Janet Napolitano for years, going back to our days as prosecutors," he said. "She has a tremendous intellect and possesses the leadership and sound judgment needed to make the difficult decisions that this job presents."

From what I have read. Napolitano is a good choice however, we will see how she does next year at the national level. The ongoing immigration situation is still a huge concern for our nation. With the recent attacks of terror in India. The safety/security questions are even more important, and finding the answers will not be easy. That is fact!
I would've appointed Palin, because she has a home, and therefore, is qualified to be homeland security head.
Is it really unusual, or do we have a short memory?
Stock Market falling like a huge rock. Sell, Sell, Sell. Panic time is here!
No President in American history liberated more people that George W. Bush. Over 50 million and less soldiers have died under Bush than Bill Clinton. Facts we must accept and live with.
Great day on Wall Street, check out the closing numbers. You've got to be kidding me. Where is the positive feeling with the new team being named?
The ironic (but not surprising) thing is that the economic downturn has also caused a drop in illegal immigration.
As an Arizonan, I've voted for Janet twice.  During her tenure, she's dealt firsthand with illegal immigration, huge wildfires, floods and all sorts of other things.  While I'm very happy for her and know she'll do a great job, I'm sad that our state will be without her!!
With the Napolitano pick, it looks like the War on Terror is over, and Terror won. Napolitano will be busy trying to figure out where to put all the illegals, and how to get them all registered to vote.
