Chambliss wins in Georgia

Posted: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 9:09 PM by Carrie Dann

From NBC's Carrie Dann
NBC News declares Republican incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss the projected winner in his Georgia runoff election contest against Democrat Jim Martin.

The defeat of longshot Martin means that Senate Democrats will not reach the 60-vote majority required to block Republican filibusters. Outgoing DSCC chair Chuck Schumer would have needed wins in both the Georgia race and the ongoing Minnesota recount contest between Al Franken and Norm Coleman to reach the supermajority mark.

The runoff between Martin and Chambliss, triggered when neither candidate garnered over 50% of the vote on November 4th, pointed a month-long national spotlight at the state.  High-wattage surrogates like Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Sarah Palin appeared in the hopes of mobilizing Republican voters for Chambliss.  Barack Obama did not campaign in person for underdog Martin, choosing to throw a lower dosage of his political capital into the race by recording a radio ad and robocalls for the Democrat; surrogates for Martin did include former president Bill Clinton and former vice president Al Gore.

The pigs win one....  What an animal Chambliss is; he has absolutely no redeeming qualities and is just a waste of ectoplasm
Maybe count the votes before announcing this? It's not like there haven't been a lot of close ballot counts lately.

What kind of people would defame and ridicule a man who lost 3 limbs for his country?

What kind of people would vote for a draft dodger and reject a true American hero?

Apparently, the kind of people who tend to serial offense.  They did it again tonight.  Oh. My God!

Georgia?

Let's hope that such white trash gastric distress is quarantined, left to fester all alone, isolated in this culturally filthy backwater swampland without honor.

Georgia, you are free to leave any time you want.  You are not Americans, you are brain-dead sociopaths who do not deserve the shelter of our flag, our history, our valor, or our freedom.

You will not be missed.

In short: you suck, Georgia.

he shouldnt have won by any means because the republican party is so corrupt that they think this guy will actually do a good job with anything!!! and throwing sarah palin out there, my goodness she is such a joke that it should make you republicans sick to your stomach to actually think she can have a sucessful bid for a presidency in 2012, heck she cant even run her own state
Oh man, I thought god Barack Hussein Osama was going to help his fellow dummycrat to gain another seat.
Poor democrats, one seat away from turning this country upside down !
Thanks be to God.
No coat-tails for the BO man!!
Palin campaigned hard for Chambliss. We see the results. She's starting to build a nice coalition of support for 2012.
This may be a blessing in disguise for all Americans as it adds to the true bipartisanship President-elect Obama sought to achieve.

Hopefully, during the new president's tenure redistricting will be reviewed to prevent gerrymander and other ways to ensure that the voting outcome is not unbalanced.
Too bad. Our country needed another Democrat senator.
What is it that Chambliss did to get reelected? Back the president in his failures. Wake up!
Not even close!  Chambliss wins 58 to 42, a margin nearly three times as great as Obama's popular vote win over McCain, yet none of the MSM news reports I have seen have managed to use terms like "overwhelming victory" or "landslide."  No, Chambliss simply "won."
Its the beginning of a GOP tidal wave in 2010! In your face socialists!!!
If this Congress and administration faces extra difficulty getting things done--and it will--we know whom to blame: Georgians. Georgians who listened to Sarah Palin, and voted for a draft dodger who denigrated a man who gave his body in service of his country.

They should all be ashamed of themselves, and we shouldn't ever let them forget it.
This is sad to see that "Shameful Chambliss" won in Georgia. This is a set back for real Change in America. Obama should have gone down to Georgia for at least one rally for Martin. Politically, Chambliss is going to be a thorn in the Democrats side. Legislatively, I strongly think that Obama may regret having Chambliss in the Senate operating with "Insane McCain." That is fact!
>>>>>>No President in American history liberated more people that George W. Bush. Over 50 million and less soldiers have died under Bush than Bill Clinton. Facts we must accept and live with.

I'll accept these "facts" when you cite a source for them (and Blogs don't count).

Oh!  Well, I guess that ties it.  I mean, if George Stephanopolis says so, then it must be gospel.

GIVE ME A F---ING BREAK, SISTER!  You're quoting a reporter who gets paid to read from a TELEPROMPTER!  I mean, I like Keith O. and Rachael Maddow as much as the next liberal, but I'd never cite them as a source for my information.  I'd at least do some digging on my own to see where they're getting their "facts" from and if they are credible.  It's something those of us who graduated from High School call RESEARCH.  Sorry, sweetie.  Thanks for playing.

History lesson from yesterday

Brother Bill (BJ) Clinton brought up the race card against Obama and last we checked, he's on the Democrat Star Card of heros. And that was in 2008, not 150 years ago my brother. Peace Out and stop the hate.
Lord knows Palin will take credit for this win...
On another note, I can't believe Gregory is getting "Meet The Press". His Republican slant on issues will keep this viewer away. I was actually hoping to see Chuck Todd in that seat.

Am I the only one who sees that guy as a Right-Wing puppet?
Big surprise here in the red state of Georgia. huh? Pleeze.
Well, there you go, now I am firmly committed to not spend a single penny in Ga, ALA, or SC until they change their politics - no sense in me adding to the already wealthy coffers there.  I'll fill up my car before I drive out of Tenn on my way to the beach, and I'll be staying in Pennsacola, not Orange beach, ALa from now on.  Lots of nice beaches in NC by the way - so those of us who vote blue in red states don't have to give up the beach in order to boycott red states. And, yes, I do watch where I spend my money - if bill frist is elected as gov. of TN, I'll stop spending money in TN state parks and I'll order everthing I can off the internet - not gonna support red state madness unless I absolutely have to.
I think Forrest Gump said it best: "Stupid is, as stupid does"
Georgia was stupid enough to throw out Max Cleland who served his country honorably and paid a terrible price for this draft dodging (ala Dick Chaney) Republican hack
Remember, you get what you pay for!
Am I the only one who sees that guy [Gregory] as a Right-Wing puppet?

Looking . . . . . ., yes.
Well, there you go, now I am firmly committed to not spend a single penny in Ga, ALA, or SC until they change their politics - Union Baby

I certain they are quaking in their boots. So where you going to get your cheap smokes, md 20/20, and meth from now that you're boycotting these states.
