Future races: Jeb, Jeb, Jeb

Posted: Wednesday, December 03, 2008 9:03 AM by Domenico Montanaro

“Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush -- the younger brother of the president -- is weighing a run for the Senate seat currently held by Republican Mel Martinez. Martinez announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection in 2010. Asked whether he was interested in running for the seat then, Bush told Politico by email Tuesday night: ‘I am considering it.’”

”A source close to Bush said he'll be thoughtful and methodical about the decision-making process. He will consider the impact a race would have on his family and his business and whether or not the U.S. Senate is the best forum from which to continue his advocacy for the issues on which he’s focused, such as education, immigration, and GOP solutions to health care reform.”

I would think the Bush name would be mud for quite
some time to come.
We do not need future representation of his policies,
ideals and priorities.
>He will consider the impact a race would have on his family and his business and blah blah

Read: He'll consider whether he can win or not.
God forbide, not another Bush!
Last thing our country needs is another stinking bushleague fool in our government.  Let's never forget he was the one responsible for the whole Florida voting mess and that Wicked Witch Katherine Harris stealing the election for his brother.
It's a shame the family name was so badly sullied by W.  Jeb would have made a good preisdent.  It's a shame Rove convinced Bush that he should "find jesus" and run for office.  Both dad and jeb are good, highly qualified guys.  Sensible pragmatic republicans.  A dying breed.
Sorry Jebb, I'm all bushed out, hope the good folks in FL are too!
I'm done with the Bush family.  Hopefully Jeb will stay in the Senate.

YES WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeb, Jeb Jeb,  please go away,  the last thing in the world this country needs is another Bush,  in any way, shape, or form.
yup, the Bush name is mud right now, even though any educated voter would know that Jeb Bush was one heck of a governor for Florida.
Glad none of you live in Florida, and I am actually trying to figure out where your opinion matters in the future of our senate seat? We will speak for ourselves and Jeb has always delivered for us in times of crisis in our state. The rest of the states could take cue from Jeb's professionalism, knowledge and order during our hurricane season.
We do not need a dynasty.  Jeb, please continue
with your business and stay out of politics.

Jeb was a well-liked governor down here and despite his brother's Presidency, I could easily see Jeb winning a Senate seat.  He remains quite popular with Hispanics, particularly the Cuban community.  He would have made a much better President than his brother.
Interesting concept we heard here today in Florida:

Martinez announces he's leaving at the first of 2009.  Newly married Gov. Charlie Crist announces he's filling Martinez' seat with himself to fill out the term until the General Election in 2010.

So, who's got the foot in the door...  Crist!

Sounds like a designated hitter to us.

GO ALEX SINK!!!!
In general, I would say that Jeb seams to be reasonable(like his Dad), and not an overly idealogical Repub. That is NOT to say I agree w/ him (or his Dad) on very much, I am a fairly progressive Democrat. My biggest concern(Repubs can keep the Senate seat, it's not a net gain) is that W's legacy somehow benefits from his brother's competance.
Sorry to say it folks but J.E.B. isn't going away. Neither is Cheney. Dick isn't going to allow Barack to take possession of the Oval Office. How?
Martial Law.   Yep.  "W." gets "assassinated" by the "Iranians" January 9, 2009. Cheney declares Martial Law in America, declares war on Iran and calls off the Inauguration of B.H.O. He appoints JEB to be his assistant viceroy of the war to avenge the "killing" of his older brother "W". Later Cheney steps down for health reasons and JEB ascends to the thrown.
Now tell me what stops this scenario from actually taking place. Please.
As a floridian, I can tell you that Jeb is as much of a bible thumpin' bigot as his brother.  Why can't they just stay on the farm in Texas; and leave the rest of us alone???
Jeb was always the "smarter" of the two (and favored by Barbara. Too bad George ran first. Apparently he's screwed things up once again...this time for his brother. Our country will never elect another Bush. Period.
OMG hasn't this country had enough of the Bush Crime family?
oh, please!  Not another Bush.  That name will go down in infamy and the kid brother doesn't stand a chance.

Stay home, Jebbie, your brother did you in...once and for all.
If Florida is crazy enough to elect another pissant from that family then they deserve what they get from it and heaven forbid that he be elected to POTUS.  This family needs to melt away and leave us the hell alone.
He helped his brother steal the election in 2000.  Because of that we are now at war on 2 fronts.  First the father, READ MY LIPS. Then the brother, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. If we haven't learned anything else the Bushes are a family of LIARS.  Jeb is already talking about a "shadow government" to stop any progress that might be made by Obama.  BUSHES are not good for Florida or America.
Should have started with Jeb - now I'm just as interested in brain-dead Jenna being a Senator.
