Yay!
I like Al, but I hope he doesn't convince Obama about a gas tax.  If you want to encourage people to buy and drive fuel efficient vehicles, there are better ways, such as putting a significant surcharge on the sale and perhaps resale of all gas guzzlers (whether made by US or foreign companies).  The gas tax is particularly hard on the little guy already struggling to make ends meet.  Hit the person about to buy that brand new non-hybrid SUV and encourage them to go with a greener, more fuel efficient vehicle instead.
So he can invite him to be the Sec. of Interior? Or Sec of the internet???
Boy, I'm excited. Gore's big public policy acheivemnt was to politicize the weather.
For heaven's sake.  Can't you do a LITTLE bit better than that?  Just give us something, ANYTHING to talk about.  And we always will.  ;)
In the world that should have been, that meeting would have been more like, Outgoing President Al Gore, at the end of his 2d term, is set to meet with incoming President [elect] Barak Obama to discuss what should be a smooth transition after 16 years of democratic rule to another 4 to 8 years of democratic rule.  Ah, what could've been...
Al Gore appointed Sec. of Energy with a broad mandate to...
The long awaited meeting between the messiah and Brother Al's Travelling Salvation Show.

Now the question is if Al will take a pay cut to head up the EPA.
I respect Al Gore but think he is better being independant and someone who is not tied to any administration. As advisor and promoter, great! As policy maker he may have more power to push laws but less power to rally the people to a cause.
This is completely off-topic, but will Obama retain the Bush justice department attorneys or will he simply fire them for no particular reason, other than it's his right to do so for any reason?

Oh to be a fly on that wall although I suppose we know generally what the conversation will be. Gore does not need a government post but he will be a tremendous advisor and ally.
Al's probably coming up to Chicago on his private jet. I don't think he fits anymore on commerical planes.
Als going to tell Barack that he's shutting down half of his huge house. That should knock a degree or two off the average global temperature.
Can some one tell me what Al Gore has accomplished as a leader? He's encouraged many things but what has he managed & executed on a large scale?
Yes, let's see a big tax on all those big suv....escalades...etc.  People like Joe Scarborough would be happy to outfit his family in one.  He can afford the big fat tax!
Thank you President Obama for recognizing a true American hero and patriot when you see one.  Al Gore is a wonderful person, I've know him for a long, long time.  He and his wife are really great people, real Christians (not pretend ones like the adulterers of the Repugnant party - ronald reagan & john mccain). He is qualified to be Sec. of Energy or Environment anyday of the week, he was overqualified to be President of the US, that is why we got stuck with howdy doody for 8 years.
When he was a young US senator he came to my small hometown in Tennessee where I was serving as Vice mayor, he helped me shut down a plant that was buring illegal chemicals at night after everyone else had gone to bed.  I had a nurse who worked 3rd shift see it, she contacted me, I met here there at 3:00am and saw and smelled it myself.  We had had lots of people living in that town close to the plan who never smoked diagnosed with lung cancer - he was very helpful to me and he is a good person that actually cares more about his fellow man than his bank account or (Bush)Daddy's oil business.
"will Obama retain the Bush justice department attorneys or will he simply fire them for no particular reason"
Richard, Washington State

I am glad you brought the subject up Richard. People need to be reminded what Gonzogate is all about. Obama should ask for the resignation of them all as a matter of course at the start of his administration which is his right and is what most presidents do.  That is far different than selective firing some of them mid-term for not yielding to political pressure to instigate political prosecutions for the benefit of the party instead of working for justice and the country.
Al is the right person to talk to to get an update on the enviornment and names for the EPA position. Al would not take it and Obama won't offer it to him, but Obama is doing the right thing by having talks with him, which is something Bush refused to do. It's the right thing at the right time.
It is good to see that Obama is going to meet with, the man who should have been President. Al Gore. The questions concerning are very screw-up environment are a major concern. Read all about it America! Bush is in the process of deregulating the rules needed for protecting our environment. That is fact!

Anna Molly:

Ditto. By the way. Just how the heck are you doing? Good I hope.
